The price of greatness is responsibility. And I’m so great, believe me. You will be amazed at how great I am. I will be so great you will get tired of me being great, trust me.

It just doesn’t have the same gravitas.

Good Monday morning Hamsters. Pleasant 74 on the first day of school out here in west Fort Bend County. School bus has already made the first run to our subdivision.
Traffic will be heavy in school zones, so anyone needing to get some place early best select a route that has no schools in it.

Americans are about to get the first landslide president we don’t want

Get ready for the winner-by-default president. Hillary Clinton’s selling point, and the one that’s probably good enough for America right now, is that She isn’t He. But so is every other person (but one). How many of them could also have beaten Donald Trump? Not only Joe Biden and Elizabeth Warren but Al Gore, John Kerry, Walter Mondale and Alec Baldwin must be shaking their heads and wondering why they didn’t run. (Thought bubble over Baldwin’s head: I could have been the stable, even-tempered voice of reason in this race.)

This was sent to me by one of my sisters:

HEADLINE: What CNN and Fox Won’t Tell You About the Move of God
You won’t hear this reported on CNN or Fox News because news programs sell spin and controversy. Good news won’t raise ratings.
You won’t hear this from America’s pulpits because America’s churches are in a state of separation. Her pastors have abdicated their biblical civic responsibilities to secular politicians in exchange for 30 pieces of tax-exempt silver.
Most pastors and church-goers can’t name their representative or senators, much less pray for them daily or name one piece of legislation they’re working on. Nor do they know that most likely the lawmakers sleep on their office couches because they can’t afford to rent an apartment in the nation’s most expensive city.

There is much more to the article. I haven’t studied the verses quoted yet, as I have just read the article for the first time, so I don’t yet know if the context is correct. That being said, the article is worth the read and consideration.

#4 – I have to question the author’s conclusions in the cited article. I do not find a single source noted for his claims that “most people” do this or “most people” don’t know that… Then he starts praising Paul Ryan and says that Ryan will start sending out email to pastors instructing them as to what to pray for…. I think that author may be someone whose ego is out of control or something. Anyway, I was not impressed, and I’m not certain what the purpose of the story is to begin with.

  8. Sarge Avatar

    Heh.

I think that author may be someone whose ego is out of control or something.

Irony, thy name is El Gordo the Trump supporter, complaining about somebody’s out of control ego——

  9. El Gordo Avatar

Hummm, I’m slow this morning I guess. I’m planning to vote for Trump since he appears to me to be the best option that will appear on the ballot, but that certainly does not mean that I agree with him in all respects. I can’t really see how that relates to an ego being out of control. Now I’ll readily admit that I have opinions that I’m willing to share without shame, but I’ll also admit that there have been times where my opinions have proved to be wrong – I’m not infallible. I’m still looking for the alternative to Trump, if there is one, to keep hillary out of the WH. Hopefully I’m not wrong to think she would be a disaster. Anyway, I’ll do an ego check just in case.

#7: As I stated, I haven’t really studied his citations to confirm that he is not going off the reservation.

what the purpose of the story is to begin with.

The positive notes from the story:
    1) There are prayer meetings/worship services happening on the capital grounds that have not happened for over 100 years.
    2) There appears to be a growing number of committed Christians in the halls of government.
    3) There is encouragement to pray, both for our leadership and our country.
These are all good things and as an added bonus, it will drive the militant, hate filled atheists absolutely bonkers.

I think derangement syndrome more aptly describes being so obsessed with one person you will support anyone else no matter how bad.

Thunderstorms passing through my zip code. Very noisy, very rumble-te-rum-tum, bumpy thunder noises. All cats hiding under furniture for the last 30 minutes. Postal arrived and threw 2 packages at the front door — made a terrific thump — rang doorbell, ran back to her vehicle. That had cats scattering again, apparently assuming their hiding places weren’t secure enough. I got the 2 boxes inside before they got very wet.

If you seriously believe that the end result of the welfare of our nation and its citizens will not be impacted differently regardless of who is elected to become our next President, I’m certainly not going to start tilting at windmills to try to convince you otherwise. I just don’t think we are done yet, and I’m willing to gamble on an unknown versus and known criminal and liar. So, if I’ve got hillary derangement syndrome, count me in – I had obama syndrome before that, so I guess I susceptible to similar diseases. This will probably be my last opportunity to vote for President anyway, and I doubt that it will make any difference in the overall outcome.

Things came to a head over the weekend. It was rough, but I talked to Mom this morning and I am at peace that now BCS & Co. will be taking over Mom’s care from now on.
My concern now is that I want this changeover done asap. They want to move Mom, and I want no part of that. I think it could kill my mother, and I don’t want that on my conscience. And I’m wissing tired of feeling embattled. If Mom is okay with this, it’s her decision. I can rest now.
After the honeymoon period is over, Mom will revert to her behavior, and then they’ll have a better idea the why’s and how’s of my behavior. I talked to a friend about it, and we discussed the lack of boundary respect that they kept exhibiting:
“I’m interested in seeing how this plays out. If they didn’t respect Mom’s or my boundaries before, what means they’ll respect each others’ boundaries later?”
    “Good point.”
“This could devolve into a huge cat scratching fight. Either they’ll punish each other better than I ever could, or they’ll band together in this savior complex over Mom and leave me alone. Either way, I’ll be content.”

My lunch was an hour late due to a peculiar behavior and error message used by our newish GE microwave. I wanted to heat a bowl of chili, but apparently I put the bowl in over 5 minutes before I was ready to heat it. I had decided to dice up some cantaloupe into fruit cups, but by then, unknown to me, the microwave had decided it could not be sure there was food inside to be heated. Refused to Start and instead responded with the nutty message “FOOD”. Now I was thinking maybe it wanted me to select one of the listed foods from the keypad: Potato, Chicken, etc. Although I have never used any of those buttons, and they didn’t help.
Then we started thinking it had taken a spike during the storms this morning, and might be damaged. I put my bowl of cold chili in the fridge and started making a sammich. In the meantime, Hubs did a google for “GE Microwave FOOD”, and found the answer. This isn’t mentioned in the owner’s pamphlet, but the microwave regards it as an error if you leave the meal in there for 5 minutes without ever hitting Start. It interprets that as NO food in there, and you have to open and close the door to get its attention refocused on heating your lunch.
Of course, when Hubs reported back that the appliance believed there was NO FOOD in there, he just had to ask me if I was having a Hot Pocket for lunch.

Rain that wasn’t supposed to arrive did by mid morning from west of Richmond all the way to Sugar Land with Sugar Land getting the main downpour. Waited inside a building lobby for it to finally slack off to light rain before making it to the car fortunately parked only two rows from the doorway. Then on to another stop a block away in the slightly harder rain to wonderfully find an empty space close to the building entrance. In and out in 10 minutes with a wait under the canopy to see if the clearing sky from the west would hurry up and arrive. It sorta did so I made it to the car with minor rain spots and came on home. Only a tenth of an inch in our gauge.
But since all the rains began a 8 days ago we’ve gotten 4.95″, everything is God’s gorgeous emerald green again, and the cracks are gone.
More horrific flood pictures from LA and the Baton Rouge area in particular break my heart. It’s much worse than the Memorial Weekend flooding around here, much larger area inundated, more homes essentially destroyed and people evacuated and suddenly homeless. And the LSM ignoring it all along with Jug Ears off golfing and Hildebeast off in Martha’s Vineyard for Bill’s birthday.
