Well, we know there’s a push to label genetically modified food. Genes have been selectively modified for years through breeding and genetic selection practices since mankind started farming. Genes are, well – GENES! Not chemicals. Well, I guess technically they ARE chemicals, but not chemicals like nerve agent pesticides or birth control pills. (Which are in our environment now – all those birth control chemicals going into our water systems. Where’s the outrage over the high levels of bc chemicals in our waterways?)
But don’t go try ‘splaining it to those same hipsters who are worried about GM foods. They want to be sure to also label all food with DNA.
The study, published in the Federation of American Societies for Experimental Biology Journal last week, also found that 33 percent of respondents thought that non-GM tomatoes “did not contain genes” and 32 percent thought that “vegetables did not have DNA.” So there’s that.

From the aforementioned thread: They think about money the way you think about water. Sure, there are some people in some places that struggle to get water, they have to walk miles to get it (hell, Michigan is dealing with it) that’s the equivalent of poor in their minds. Then you have “middle class” which would be places like China.… Read more »
Found an interesting thread on Reddit about rich people. Some of those stories are hard to believe, but when you’re rich….your perspective is skewed. I thought until the start of high school that a $100 bottle of wine was cheap. Expensive ones ares several thousands after all. At the end of the year we decided to offer our retiring teacher… Read more »
Couldn’t hook up my pump. I asked before I bought the thing if I’d be able to hook up my hoses to it to move the water. “Sure,” the guy said.
The hose connections are too big for a garden hose. It never even made it out of the box. I guess I get to count mosquitoes.

This is reason enough to vote Trump: HEADLINE: DOJ Resists Court Order to Provide Ethics Training for Its Lawyers and Wants to Hide the Names of Illegal Aliens Granted Amnesty The entire DOJ needs to be fired! Ditto that for the State Dept and IRS. They are totally corrupt and past the ability to be rehabilitated. There is a zero… Read more »

cool word of the week
We are less like church-hoppers than people fairly steady in faith and practice who are continually having to flee burning ecclesial villages as the barbarians advance. I make no apologies for it, for we are in an age where hard decisions must be made in the context of that situation. The culture is in decline, and with it the churches… Read more »
I bought a pump to start removing all that water standing under the old house. Hubby may be mad when he sees it – I asked him to use his sump pump to do this – but he hasn’t set it up yet. He comes home, he sits, he eats, he falls asleep, and not always in that order. He… Read more »
Adee, it is good to hear that you are safe and sound, even if not completely past the peril of flooding. If there is any consolation to be found, perhaps the slow rise is preferable to a flash flood taking everything. Know that we are thinking of you during this ordeal. Stay safe.
Thanks for checking in, Adee.
Prayers for you and yours.
Adee, so sorry for your anxiety about the flooding. Hopefully, anxiety is all you’ll have to deal with.
I’d send you some floaties, but I can’t get around all those detours….
We are about 2″ away from having water come into the house over the top of the slab. Rained here last night and several times today, not helping. Still no crest that can be defined as one. We’re moving furniture out of the sunken rooms and into the regular rooms in hopes of avoiding damage. Neighboring areas are even harder… Read more »
#44: I would have loved to read the article but the wissin bug that pops up will not allow it.
I don’t think all the barge operators on the Intra Coastal Canal are going to let that big ditch get clogged. If all the silt goes into the bay, then yes. Actually that may be good for everybody, as it would add fish nursery area to Matagorda Bay.
In case you are someone that has everything, here is something that you probably do not have.
The mighty Brazos will have it’s own delta soon.
We could put them on one of those islands that tip over, give them something to do keeping it balanced.

They could get China to build the island. They’re getting pretty good at it.
Just in case anybody was having gator withdrawls. . .. .
Yep, both are back-stabbing sleezeballs. HOPEFULLY Cornholio will get “wiped out” the next time he has to run in 5 years.
Hey, don’t be talking about the senior Senator from Texas’ best friend like that.

Still peas in a pod is my bet.
Noted back-stabbing sleezeball, Charlie Crist, is running for the US House of Reps under the D ticket. He uses the hurricane to start.

Sorry, Sarge, your publishing privileges have been suspended. Please pack and board your FEMA bus.
I don’t think this will be effective for anything other than spending a $#!tload of money.
Don’t make jokes.
Wahoo, I just got my Indy 500 100th Running ball cap a customer said he’d bring me, limited edition too!

ACLU leader quits after daughters encounter men in the women’s restroom I have shared my personal experience of having taken my elementary school age daughters into a women’s restroom when shortly after three transgender young adults, over six feet [tall] with deep voices, entered. An expert climatologist/hydrologist is proving carbon emissions have nothing to do with waterflows, rainfall and droughts. He believes: “There is no correlation of CO2 emissions history to the moisture time series that I have evaluated. Also, for the same stations that I review there is little or no correlation of temperature to streamflow. Rather, ocean drivers can account for changes… Read more »

I don’t think he’s at that part of the beach.
I think Squawk should file a workers’ comp claim for his neck problem with the Internet Moderators’ Union. Sitting in front of a computer night after night for years dueling with idiots and morons with keyboards has obviously taken its toll. A lawsuit against the Ron Paul campaign would probably be a good idea too.
We’re getting lightning so close here I can hear fixtures popping.

You know, if going to drive all the way to the Redneck Riviera to lie around, burn up pixels for photographs and make us all jealous, the least you could do is include a girl in a bikini.

Another beautiful day in paradise, I just got back from my morning walk to the County Pier and when I finish my coffee, I’m going to float on the perfectly flat Gulf.
