Jenner responded to the criticism, saying people “think that now that I’ve transitioned that everything has to change. You can’t be conservative anymore. You have to be a liberal. No, I don’t believe that. I think I can keep all of my views the same ’cause I feel in my heart that’s the best way to go.”

LGBT activists aren’t tolerating that (but I thought conservatives were the intolerant ones!). They’ll support Jenner and anyone else who believes in their hearts that their sex needs to change, but watch out if your heart tells you conservatism is what’s best. That can’t be stomached. If you cling to the delusion of conservatism, you must a lunatic! The hypocrisy dripping from the pens of these people is astounding.

    From Chemical & Engineering News:

Just one of countless examples, small and large, of how federal regulation stifles progress, business and the advancement of our quality of life.

As summer approaches, bringing time in the sun, people in the U.S. are no closer to benefiting from advanced sunscreen active ingredients than they were a decade ago.

European outdoors lovers, meanwhile, can bask in the sun knowing they have access to new and highly effective sunscreens. These products protect them from ultraviolet (UV) rays that cause sunburn and contribute to wrinkling and increasing rates of skin cancer.

Zika may meet its match. The Sambo.

In the wake of Hurricane Katrina, the Virginia-based non-profit Operation Blessing helped avert an outbreak of the West Nile virus in New Orleans by supplying abandoned swimming pools full of water – ideal breeding ground for disease-carrying mosquitos – with fish that feast on mosquito larva.

Now the group hopes to halt the spread of the Zika virus in Central America by breeding and distributing fish that can eat mosquitos’ larva before the insects mature and carry the disease, which has been linked to an epidemic of birth defects in Brazil and spread quickly throughout Latin America.

Based out of Mexico’s Acapulco area, Operation Blessing is working in El Salvador to supply a mosquito-eating fish called Sambo—one native to the area—that families can place in sinks and containers where drinking water is stored, CBN reports.

El Salvador’s Vice Minister of Health, Eduardo Espinoza, has hailed the Sambo fish as a successful method in reducing the virus, and multiple groups have distributed it nationwide.

Why would you go lie in the sun and slather yourself in sunscreen to protect you from the sun in the first place? Why would the federal government have an interest in this matter in the first place? If it comes from Europe, it must be better, right? We should all strive to become more like the Europeans; I know that because John Kerry told me so. Get government out of our faces, out of our businesses, out of our lives. Protect us from foreign invaders, provide a stable currency, fill the potholes in the road, and get out of the way. We don’t even need a post office any more, so there’s a place to save some money – but government is about spending money, not saving it.

You can’t have a Constitution without a nation to go with it

And then came the third wave of immigration to America.

This wave has featured, and continues to feature, huge numbers of immigrants who have absolutely no connection to limited government, no understanding of constitutional restrains on government, and no concern for natural rights and individual liberties. Indeed, in many cases, these immigrants come from places completely outside of any definition of Western civilization, and cannot be expected in any way, shape, or form to understand what American culture and society are really all about.

Tile guys are here, installing tile that Hubby originally was going to do himself. I’m glad we have professionals, partly because this is supposed to be our final house and it needs to be done correctly, partly because we don’t have but a handful of 90 degree angles anywhere in this house, and also because it hurts Hubby to do the physical labor.

Also, because this has been years needing to be done, and we won’t meet our inspection deadline, much less have it completed any time soon, if I wait on Hubby. It’s a matter of having time and money at the same time, as well as healthy backs to do the work.

Social justice warriors scored another victory last week, convincing an evangelical university that Jesus favors a microaggression reporting system.

Seattle Pacific University’s administration folded to many of the demands of the SPU Justice Coalition – apparently composed of fewer than 20 students – for a diversity czar, “justice and cultural credibility” leadership requirements, and race-focused faculty hiring, among others.

Well, I’m glad that question was cleared up.

The petition said the university’s structure “suppresses minority cultures and identities by perpetuating the notion that Western white evangelical culture is socially and theologically normative, thereby inhibiting the personal and communal development of minority students.”

    Who knew ?

  33. Tedtam Avatar

Oh, this isn’t the floor – yet! This is the shower (upstairs & downstairs) and other bathroom wall tile.

The floor – that’s a whole ‘nother project. We have yet to lay the sleepers and run the radiant tubing, then another subfloor layer on top of which we will put either tile (bathrooms) or wood floor (original from our old house, which will have to be fit and refinished).

    Yeppers, lotsa work to do.

It gets worse. Cannibalizing their own with Fascist hatred.

In 2016, intersectionality continues the fight for a more tolerant country by exposing the white privilege of the interracial. The first target was Zoe Saldana, a black actress with Dominican, Haitian and Puerto Rican roots, who was accused of “blackface” for playing Nina Simone without the requisite racial purity. A petition condemns having “light-complexioned actors” playing “the roles of dark-complexioned historical figures”. Saldana was accused of having a “Eurocentric” face that meets “European standards of beauty”, instead of an “Afrocentric” face. She was told to check her “light-skinned black woman privilege”.

Yes, black people can also have white privilege as long as their skin isn’t the right shade of black and their features aren’t “Afrocentric” enough. Intersectionality is just legitimized racism. And racism is a pathological obsession with racial purity that can never stop on its own. The reverse version of the one drop rule is that even one drop of “white blood” is enough to transmit the disease of “white privilege”.

The new season of House of Cards is up on Netflix. I’ve been holding off on watching it until I’m holed up for a couple of days so that I can binge watch the whole thing, so don’t you all be talking about it and giving it away. If it weren’t for my Roku, I would not have any TV reception at all – no cable, no satellite, no local coverage.

BTW – I had to go to the local box store to get a soap dish to be installed with the tile. I got there just as some of the worst rain was passing over. There were several large lightning bolts just as I was parking, so I decided to get wet rather than raise an umbrella. Just as I was getting under cover at the store entrance, a huge and close strike occurred, and the accompanying thunder set off several car alarms.

Made me smile, because I felt safe. Otherwise, there’d be some clothing change to be made.

The local telephone co-op discovered that they could force people to keep their land lines if they tied it to internet service. Then they installed underground fiber optic throughout their system – I’ve still not been able to find out how they got the money to pay for that, but somehow they did. There is also internet service available from the local cable TV company – cable TV came here years before it became popular in the urban areas because there are no local over the air channels without a mile high antenna. They even have cell phone service out here too, but only 3G. Both Fed Ex and UPS deliver Amazon packages out here too. Everything is almost up to date here in the hinterlands. Even the city employees are trained to act just like their urban counterpoints even though they are mostly white (don’t get me started on those lazy…). .

I’ve been searching the city code book to see if there is an ordinance against dancing naked on top of the cab of an 18 wheeler in the middle of the freeway, and I can’t find one anywhere. Maybe that’s why they took that lady to the nut ward because they couldn’t find any other way to charge her. I think it’s time to start a petition to outlaw nude dancing on top of 18 wheeler cabs in the middle of the freeway at rush hour. We can’t allow this kind of thing to go on without government intervention – or at least requiring a license and a permit or something.

The fallout from the fake Mizzou protests continues to destablize the University of Missouri. Today the interim chancellor of the university emailed students that the university will enroll 1500 less students than projected and faces a budget shortfall of $32 million this year.

While the 1500 fewer students aren’t broken out by year, the vast majority of them will come from the entering freshman class. How substantial is the decline in enrollment? Based on Mizzou admission data from past years we’re talking about a potential 20% drop in enrolled freshmen.

    That’s staggering.

    Glenn Reynold’s response:

Good. We need an example, to encourage the others.

And to spell things out for administrators: These were never “student demands.” Most students didn’t care or were actively hostile, but were browbeaten into silence — with some assistance from you. So now it’s “Irish Democracy” as people passively withdraw their support. If I were a Missouri legislator, I’d take that $32 million entirely out of administration, and lay administrators off en masse.
