I’ve posted a picture of Granny Hamous as a young Flapper. Turns out Shannon & Texpat’s grandmother was also a Flapper, and quite a beautiful young lady.

Kinda’ ducky out there this morning.
Mornin’ Gang
The one advantage of a long, drawn out campaign is the eventual revelation of the hidden jackassery.
And so it is written with Marco Rubio.
We got 0.9″ at Chez Harp. Could use more. My front lawn has been looking like I might have to fire up the water thrower on it.
Adee, I’ve been intending to ask how your horse was doing. But I’ve been busy with some unmentionable li’l critters myself. Sorry to hear your news is not so good up to now. Maybe there will be some positive report from the specialist tomorrow.
#46 Rubio came into the national scene everyone propping him up as the next Ronald Reagan yada yada yada. It was 2010. There was no doubt which way the political winds were blowing and there is no way he did not know what people supporting him were expecting of him. He came to the fork in the road and took… Read more »
We got half an inch of rain this morning. Yea. Looking forward to more over night, but hold the gale force winds, please.
Good evening Hamsters. Out of the loop most of today owing to spouse telecommuting and me working on tax stuff in advance of meeting with the accountant on Friday. All the hard stuff is done and required documents/receipts corralled. It’s just the final organizing and copying what gets left with the accountant, so complete records remain here. Of course there… Read more »
Mark Levin is on a rant about Rubio tonight. He was talking about his lying about immigration and what a mistake it would be to have him somewhere near the WH. He has no accomplishments, political or private sector, to turn to as demonstrable evidence of any substance, with his primary attribute being the massive immigration lie and what a… Read more »
Have they named the storm yet?
Three quarter inches today at GJT casa.
Looks like Max is going to have to go out about 3am if we’re going to beat the mother of all storms.
Maybe she can fix that problem Toyota up there in the sticks.
Along the lines of I’m not a homophobe, I have friends that are gay, we have been really good friends with a lesbian couple since we met when our boys were in Junior High. I got one of them an interview at my job and I think she has a good shot. Even though I’m pretty much against hiring friends,… Read more »
That cracked me up right there.
I never saw any anti-Catholicism at the precinct level My first precinct convention in ’94 was headed up by an old lady named Fern Sword with a big ole bun and cat eye glasses. She looked like the Church Lady. Hated all blacks and Mexicans. Any of them that voted Republican were moles trying to hijack her party. She lived… Read more »
#35 – You beat me to the punch on the congressional challengers story, so I won’t duplicate it here. I’m still in an anti-incumbent mood, and just the prospect of having a new person in there making promises that he probably won’t keep is still appealing. Don’t forget the down ticket opportunity to do some good at the congressional level.
Batten down the hatches. Rough weather coming tomorrow.
I never saw any anti-Catholicism at the precinct level, but they were bullies and never had an original idea in their life and loaded up the proceedings with Eagle Forum propositions – some of which were silly or insane.
Just in case you missed the link on Drudge…

I always associated the term evangelical with the likes of Swaggart, Oral Roberts and his 900′ Jesus, and the Bakkers. Then, when I got into the Republican party inner workings at the conventions in ’94, I quickly learned that those particular “evangelicals” were rabidly anti-Catholic. As long as you sat in the corner quietly and voted with them they would… Read more »
Yep.
28 Darren Some, like millennial evangelicals and those looking for sound government management, are drawn to Trump for his business background. Trump’s business strategy is to always borrow so much money his creditors can’t afford to force him into bankruptcy without dragging themselves into the pit with him. That works fine in the private sector but American debt is primarily… Read more »
I was in a hurry, didn’t check. Thx, Squawk.
Yes that is a spoof. Anything with ,co after the .com is a spoof.
We have a Muslim SCOTUS.
Please, please let this be a spoof!
On The Donald getting the Evangelical vote, here’s some good insights. Some, like millennial evangelicals and those looking for sound government management, are drawn to Trump for his business background. Others who tend to keep politics and faith separate might appreciate Rubio’s approach, while those who take a more hawkish approach and want the United States to remain “Christian” will… Read more »
This should come as a shock to precisely no-one. A former CIA officer serving jail time for leaking documents to the New York Times accused federal officials of setting a double standard by apparently refusing to aggressively prosecute Hillary Clinton. Clinton was “a high ranking official who should know better, but completely given a pass, and almost an apologetic pass,”… Read more »
Trying to salvage my retreat date. I’ve told the secretary at the church office I may make this my last year to teach, just because of stuff like this. It’s up to her if she wants to pass that on. If not, I’ll turn in my notice at the end of the year, if my DRE is going to continue… Read more »

Well, guess you have to have your retreat at The Blue Dome.
🙂
OMG: Meet The First Hijab-Wearing Barbie
Just found out that my retreat with my students March 5th was never scheduled on the church calendar.
The altar server retreat, for the same day, has reserved every building on campus.
Would now be a good time to quit?
Poor Lindsey Graham still thinks he’s relevant. He needs to go back to his ahole buddy John McCain and go off on a camping trip together or something.

Ain’t that the truth.
If you read this article, it sounds like the good pilots would rather engage in combat exercises than risk their lives in the name of diversity. Imagine that.

I wonder…isn’t Trump’s wife a model? She’s certainly more attractive than the current first wife.
Will the media fall over themselves praising her “style worthiness”? Or do her “firm arms” not match up to the wookie?
They focus their policies on the tools and obfuscate the nature of the problem. And the nature of the problem if you do not know is PEOPLE who use knives to commit crimes. Ya’ll remember the times we joked about Britain outlawing knives because of crime cause they done outlawed guns? Well here ya go. They are banning “Zombie Killer”… Read more »

#5 – Gossip mongers haven’t changed much out here in central Texas since that time. All the locals have to talk about is who is sick and who is doing who. Can’t go anywhere or do anything any more without getting caught.
Dang.
I go camping for one weekend and the whole world goes to schizzle.
I see folks writing Cruz off b/c he came in “third”. You know—a tenth of a point behind Rubio.
Devastating.
Senator Bernie Sanders vowed on Sunday to fight on after losing the Nevada caucuses, predicting that he would pull off a historic political upset by this summer’s party convention. But the often overlooked delegate count in the Democratic primary shows Mr. Sanders slipping significantly behind Hillary Clinton in the race for the nomination, and the odds of his overtaking her… Read more »
I thought you only did Mac.

You’re a good man, Squawk.
#5; That must have been some honeymoon. The story is almost as scandalous as Niki’s great grandmother’s story. Her Granny was raised in a witch coven who did séances in the forest late into the night. (Creepy stuff). She ran off I think when she was around 12, lived on her own, and eventually found joined the Mormon church. Niki… Read more »
Sheesh who needs oxygen sensors anyway. I guess I do @ $450 dollars.

Unquestionably the source of our stunning good looks.

Greetings from Gullo Toyota of Conroe. Wife’s truck is sick so I am here first thing on a rainy Monday morning. /Nuff said lest I make Hammie’s Granny mad.
To listen to some of the commentary about yesterday’s primary in South Carolina, you would think that Donald Trump now had the nomination sewn up. Yesterday, the pundits crow, Trump won by a comfortable ten points, beating Marco Rubio and Ted Cruz 32.5 to 22.5 (22.3 for Cruz). Gosh. Slam dunk, what? and, Second, it is worth casting one’s mind… Read more »
RE: The OC photo (best guess, this was taken in 1923 or 1924) Her grandfather so wanted a grandson, to be named after him, of course, since he already had a granddaughter. His name was Jackson Rush (of the Benjamin Rush family) and after the baby was delivered by the mid-wife, he walked into that Brady, Texas bedroom and announced,… Read more »
