#105 EG OMG, that ad just floored me! I assumed you were in restraints, cuz otherwise you would not be watching Dims spewing BS. Even if they do call it a debate. How you got in the restraints, well that’s a different matter. I thought it might be a spy fantasy, like a Bond villain torturing you to give up… Read more »

Well, that might explain those holes I could see from the far side of the room.

I had forgotten this until just now, but those big lancets also often left bruises on my finger tips.

Took down the Christmas tree today and put it and the ornaments back in the hall closet. We usually keep the decorations up through Epiphany, but this year it went longer ’cause we were busy with other stuff. Now its place in the corner of our family room looks so bare even though the table it was on now has… Read more »

Reading history I’d say Walter Lord is my first favorite. Cornelius Ryan and John Keegan are great reads as well. My sister gave me a copy of Ian W. Toll’s The Conquering Tide. Second book in an unfinished trilogy. I can’t put it down. It is a grand strategic history of the War in the Pacific. Not a detailed account… Read more »

Regarding glucose testing in a medical setting: I don’t know if you have watched them do it, but they may be using bigger lancets that draw a larger blood drop. I complained back in 2013-14 while in Mem-NW for 4 different events, the big whacker they use HURTS.

Max: Big Sigh.

I’ve only been able to check y’all out a few times this weekend, but I’d like to say that taking Max to see his mom was good therapy for her and him. I’m sure she missed him and I KNOW that he doesn’t understand why she’s not home. Remember DOG is GOD spelled backwards.

Shannon

It was interesting and I’m sure there is a simple explanation, but Max very predictably lays down about 4 minutes into any car ride.
Not this time. Sat up and looked around for 90% of the inbound trip.

Leave it to Super Dave to find the only hundred yards of beach in Louisiana.

He doesn’t tell you he has to ride two hours through cypress swamps in an airboat to get to it.

Ole Dave will be stumbling along the Louisiana gulf coast tomorrow,…and yes they do have a coast/beach, as I discovered last year. Holed up in Lafayette right now.

And that was supposed to have been Spartan King Leonidas’ reply to the invading Persians’ invitation to surrender at Thermopylae.

And perhaps that was the inspiration for a learned Texian to create the Texas Come And Take It flag.

#79, I know a lot of middle aged women who drive crossovers. They were too cool to drive station wagons when young, nor would they drive one now. Function over form I suppose. The mini-van was an evolutionary step between the two now that I think about it.

It annoys me to watch the Subway retro commercial set in the mid-60s and see a mid-70s Ford Country Squire station wagon in the parking lot. Couldn’t they find one of these?

And another thing, someone should tell all the hipsters that today’s “Crossover utility vehicles” are nothing more than yesterday’s station wagons.

That Packer game was unbelievable. As was the late officiating.
I think they were lucky to get as far as they did this year with Rodgers carrying the whole team on his back.

If Carolina makes it to the big show, I think they’ll eat Brady for a snack.

Well, regarding a possible Trojan horse installation as a byproduct of the capture of the two boats, who’s to say that Bronco and Lurch knew about any such thing? They aren’t smart enough to think of something like that. Perhaps a black ops person took advantage of a perceived smart move by Bronco and Lurch to get American hostages back… Read more »

Likewise, I am staying away from conspiracy theories but my guess is that the US military decided to deliver something of value to Iran. The military personsl being “captured” could perhaps be a cover story. I am offering no evidence to back up my suspicion, it’s pure speculation.
