On one of my last visits to Paradise the grandkids, Sunshine climbed into my lap for a quick lesson in crochet. I put her hand on the hook and helped her make a few stitches before she decided she’d rather run and play. It was a sweet moment for me.

Well, the rut is on and driving into the parking lot a big old buck came from between the buildings and crossed the road into the field next to the lot. I grabbed my camera and wound up going all the way to the back of the lot to get a couple of crappy pictures of him, it was real dark and the camera has a wimpy flash so I was using my headlights. If I can get the pictures downloaded and he’s visible, I’ll post them.
Good morning Hamsters. High for today is the smothering 76 early this morning and going down as the day proceeds. Supposedly the front has slowed down some so the brunt of it won’t arrive here until mid morning. Meantime it’s blustery with light rain intermittently.

To expand on SD’s comment, I had a nervous doe stop by my feeder yesterday, but she didn’t stay long. Soon after an 8 pointer with a beautiful rack stopped by, sniffed around, and walked off in her direction. He’s obviously a stalker, and he looked determined.

Most of the rain seems to have come through if the lighter sky to the NW is any indication. Trees are dripping but no rain at the moment. The temp dropped from 77 before the storm moved in to 52 now. Was off to the dentist at 10 before it came in but left an hour later just after the rain began and the mercury was diving. I will have to put boots on to go out to the rain gauge.

Eek! I’ve got a mouse inside. I drained my water heater yesterday and ran the hose out the front door, so even though I left the security chain in place, he must have come in out of the rain. I’ve fixed up a special peanut butter treat for it on a couple of traps, so I’ll stay up for a bit to see if I hear one of them snap.
