Just came back from a catechist meeting that didn’t happen.

DRE didn’t communicate well with the staff, so people didn’t show up. I did, so I got some one-on-one time with my Director of Religious Education to discuss the now-rescheduled, Spanish catechist meeting for next weekend. I wasn’t going to go, since it was going to be in Spanish, but I may have to. She’s already shortened my teaching year, so I’m going to have to cut some of my classes. Now she’s talking about shortening each class because people come in late. I argued vehemently for the full hour and a half, because I need that much time to cover my content. I also told her that no matter what the start time is, people are always going to be late! I actually have students that arrive a half hour early, so she’s trying to accommodate the lowest common denominator.

So, I guess I’ll try to go to the Spanish speaking catechist meeting and make myself heard. And make more of an effort to learn Spanish. I’ve started on Duolingo, but making time is difficult…I guess I’ll have to make time. Obviously, pushing our Spanish speakers to learn English isn’t a priority.

Seriously, I may be moving to another church. I’m tired of this crap. I want to do a good job, but it keeps getting harder and harder to feel effective in this environment.

The other day I mentioned that a Band was going to film around NASA and some of it would be in our west tower, the nine story silo. Here’s a link for the video, it was filmed mostly at Ellington and building 9, (the Space Station Mock-up and GM Robot are there), they suited up in building 7 and the part that was filmed in our west tower starts @ 1:53- 2:05 showing quick takes of them walking up the stairs/catwalk, then quick takes of them riding our freight elevator from 2:05-2:20, that was to simulate the ride up the tower to the capsule on top of the Delta IV Rocket. It was actually pretty well produced but you may to mute your speakers because the music is pretty bad.

We still have a 40% chance of rain today but now it’s bright a sunny and I hope that it stays that way, I washed the bedclothes and hang them out in the yard, nothing smells better than sheets/spreads that have been dried in the sun. 😀

    Got an E Mail from The Old Grouch Military Surplus;

We have been having ponchos made in the USA for the last few years, having finally found a good, quality US based manufacturer. They struggled most of the time to keep up with our demand, but the quality was right and the price was on point.
We just got word they will no longer be making ponchos for us. Due to the current regulatory environment they must stay under 50 employees to stay competitive , and ponchos are the most labor-intensive product they make. So the decision has been made to cease production and focus their manpower on other items- we were told when we got notice that the first, and now only, batch of our new lightweight ponchos was shipping.
We are already looking for a new manufacturer, but finding this one took us several years. We won’t compromise quality, so for now when what we have runs out that is the end of the line for our US made ponchos.

Thanks, Obama Care!!! SPITS~ FWIW; I have one of the ponchos and they’re great.

Just got some feedback from the Confirmation instructor. He’s a real hard-wiss about what’s happening. He said “Just set your schedule and be done with it.” He’s getting real PO’d about our DRE, too.

Trying to do that now…set me up on a separate night so I can have my full time. Maybe by separating myself from the regular grade school kids will make my class not seem like such a blow-off program and more like part of the Confirmation program.

Seems to me that mass murderers and trannys have something in common and is mental illness.
I don’t think it is much of a stretch to say that if someone wants to change thier sex/gender that they are mentally ill. Those that go through the change have a dramatically higher rate of suicide than the populace as a whole – coincidence? I think not.

I watched Fox News’s live coverage of Donald Trump’s rally in Mobile tonight. My mother, who watched it with me, said to my father, “He reminds me of Huey” — meaning Huey P. Long, the former populist governor of our fair state.

That photo creeped me out. I don’t make a habit of “looking at” people when I’m out shopping — mostly at the grocery store — but I’m thinking maybe I need to scope out anyone who is getting close enough to stab me to death. If I see some wild and crazy eyes, I’ll — Ok, what will I do?

go down the ketchup aisle first and pick up a big glass bottle of ketchup, keep it in the little part of the basket right by the handle; it is a great weapon and will give you a fighting chance. A couple cans of corn work well as projectiles.
It doesn’t mean that you have to buy them everytime you are in the store, just grab them FIRST THING WHEN YOU WALK IN THE STORE till you no longer need them. . .

Cruz has a great line about what to do with the 90,000 IRS agents he wants to put out of business:

“To our friends in the media, I say that somewhat tongue in cheek,” Cruz clarified. “Imagine you had traveled thousands of miles in the blazing sun. You’re swimming across the Rio Grande. And the first thing you see is 90,000 IRS agents. You’d turn around and go home, too!”

Well, I hit $127 with my extensive watering for a month. Not the most damage I ever did, but still not pleasant. Oh, hush my mouth, at least CoH had the water to sell to me, and I kept my grass alive, and my trees and shrubs happy. Unlike some of my neighbors. It really saddens me to see trees die during a dry summer.

After Friday’s bloodbath on Wall Street, things could get really bad:

HEADLINE: Opinion: Dow 5,000? Yes, it could happen
    /snip
As stock market historian Russell Napier points out in his book “Anatomy of the Bear,” on five occasions in the past 100 years — in 1921, 1932, 1949, 1974 and 1982 — those big downward moves have not ended until share valuations have fallen to just 30% of the replacement cost of company assets. That’s using a powerful, if little-known, economic metric known as Tobin’s q.

And, to cut to the chase, if Wall Street stocks followed the same path today that would take the Dow down to about 5,000, and the S&P 500 Index all the way down to around 600. (The S&P 500 slumped more than 3% to 1,971 on Friday.)
    /snip
The “q” looks at the net asset values of public companies and adjusts them for inflation. It makes some intuitive sense. Why would Widget Inc. be valued at $1 billion on the stock market if you could start the company from scratch for a lot less?

Right now, according to data from the U.S. Federal Reserve, the reading on the “q” is about 100%. (It was 106% at the last reading, on March 1, but since then the S&P 500 has fallen by about 6%.)

Since World War II, the average “q” reading has been about 70%. So if Wall Street tumbled just to its modern average valuation, that would take the Dow Jones Industrial Average down to about 12,000.

If we just look at the period 1949 to 1994 — in other words, before the gigantic, off-the-charts boom of the late 1990s — the historic average “q” reading for stocks was 57%. If the market falls to those levels, that would take the Dow to about 9,500.

Imagine the wailing and moaning if the DOW went down below 10K; they might have to install diving boards off the tops of the buildings in NYC.

    Yep.

Hillary is toast, and Barry is behind it,

Now that Steven Schale, a former Obama campaign strategist, has joined the Draft Biden 2015 super PAC as an informal adviser, key donors are looking at funding the current Vice President, insiders tell TheWrap.

Don’t expect her to be indicted. Some near top tier toady or toadies will be, but Hillsy will trade her indictment, and those of her closest advisors, for dropping out of the race. If she defies Barry and continues to try for the nomination, she’ll be indicted, if she pulls out, somebody she doesn’t care about will go to jail.

They have to move her out of the way to make way for Uncle Joe, because they can’t allow this to happen. Because they know he’ll lose.

Uncle Joe is the only one they’ve got who will be acceptable to the Democrat Establishment, and also acceptable to the Obama wing because he’s been a good and loyal servant to the King. A lot of Dems, despite what you might beleive (and especially among the donor class), won’t vote for or support an out and out Socialist, and they know the larger portion of Independents and LIVs will be scared away by Bernie as well.

  33. Bonecrusher Avatar
    Bonecrusher

#35: The real irritating fly in the ointment here (for the Ds) is that most of the LIVs know what a dolt Biden is. If they don’t now, even the most milquetoast of the R bunch will make sure they do long before Nov 2016 rolls around. That they would even consider that guy as a serious contender for POTUS demonstrates just how desperate they are.
If the Re had any brains whatsoever, they would get behind Cruz and be happy with the most conservative R since Reagan.

Well my wife has been over in Florida and Alabama for almost two weeks, visiting family at Panama City Beach and the old home place, so when she headed back, my Lil’ Sister sent me a “Care Package” with some of her homemade fig preserves, pear/pepper relish, bread n butter pickles and a bottle of my favorite syrup, “Cane Patch”. We had it growing up and I can’t get it over here in Texas. She also threw in a couple of bottles of “Todd Farms” cane syrup made locally in Headland AL, I’ll give it a try and see if it’s as good as I think it is.
