Sunday night’s Hall of Fame Game marked the first NFL game with the new point-after-touchdown rule. After a touchdown, a team will have the option to place the ball at the 15-yard line for the one-point conversion kick (the equivalent of a 33-yard field goal); or to place the ball at the 2-yard line if the team chooses to go for a two-point conversion.
When I was at Steelers camp in Latrobe, Pa., I ran into long-time special-teams coach Danny Smith, and he asked me a question I hadn’t considered: If you choose to kick the extra point, and the defense jumps offside and gets flagged for an offside penalty, can you change your mind and choose to go for two? With the half-the-distance penalty, that would put the ball at the one, and you might have a lot of teams choosing to go for two if you could snap from the one.
So I checked with the league, and indeed the answer is yes. After an offside call with the ball at the 15-yard line, a coach could take the penalty and put the ball at the 10-yard line for the PAT, or take the half-the-distance penalty and choose to go for two at the one-yard line. -MMQB @ SI -
I heard someone run thru the numbers on the new two-point conversion rule a while back. The statistics show if a team went for two every time more points would be scored per game, but they would have to stick to it for the odds to work out. Going to be interesting to see if any coaches can get out of their comfort zones to try it. Look for Belichick or Chip Kelley to dabble in it.

Can it really be?
Are we finally going to see The Jerk ride off into the sunset? -
I think I have 2TSD.

Remember, McCain did something similar and ended up winning the nomination.

Remember, McCain did something similar and ended up winning the nomination.I don’t think this is an apples to apples thing. Perry’s got nowhere near the support, one big ol’ “Oops” still in the public memory, and no real way of showing that it was only a temporary thing.
And folks here in TX will support Cruz over Perry, so he can’t point deep pockets donors to the big delegate count that will come of that.
So, what happens if Cruz takes Texas, Rubio takes Florida, Craly takes California, and Trump takes New Yawk? I haven’t checked the math, but we couldf be looking at a brokered Convention.

#5: Jimmy Dick’s fund raising has gone limp. Pecos Perry has dried up.

Good morning Hamsters. Ground mist/fog and 75 at 6. Yesterday morning we had heavy fog that didn’t fade until about 9:30. Now where that came from other than heavy evaporation from the Brazos was the question of the day. It was a local event apparently. But it did leave considerable moisture on the grass.

Nice crescent moon this morning. It is in that particular phase where the whole disk if the moon is visible while a portion is lit up. Combined with the pinkish orange streaks in the morning sky it was a sight to see.

China devalues the yuan. They promise this will be the only time.
Currency War
China’s move has raised the risk of a “currency war” as export rivals seek a weaker exchange rate to stay competitive, according to Stephen Roach, a senior fellow at Yale University and former non-executive chairman for Morgan Stanley in Asia.
“It’s hard to believe this will be a one-off adjustment,” Roach said. “In a weak global economy, it will take a lot more than a 1.9 percent devaluation to jump-start sagging Chinese exports. That raises the distinct possibility of a new and increasingly destabilizing skirmish in the ever-widening global currency war. The race to the bottom just became a good deal more treacherous.” -

Israeli scientists claim breakthrough in aids treatment. They found silarities between it and multiple lineage leukemia. They induce the inactive, dormant virus clusters to become active and then nail them with the anti retro viral drugs, supposedly wiping out the entire infectious colonies.
-
I saw an article recently – think I linked to it here – about a new treatment for viruses, including aids. It was extracted from bee venom, I believe, and supposedly was one for which a virus could not mutate a protection.

I have a funeral this afternoon. LD’s best friend’s grandmother passed away. I just love LDBF – cute as a button, sweet as honey, and no bigger than a minute. She’s expecting her first child, and it’s somewhat unsettling to see the petite little thing with any kind of girth on her. She calls me her “Second Mom,” which warms my heart.
I feel sorry for her, I think her family was very close to grandma. I’ll be going to the funeral to be there for LDBF and family, but I have a strong feeling I’ll be wrangling Sunshine during the funeral so that LD can be with her friend.
That arm twisting is going to hurt.

Ahem, the OC pic composite shows a much younger Hildebeast with much less mileage.
-
Now I’m getting worried about some of you Hamsters that are up and online at 3:30 in the morning. That doesn’t seem right.
-
OMG, and they were blogging about football rules! When they should have been getting some restful sleep!
-
Hildabeast pic is obviously from a very long time ago, she is wearing the American Flag on her necklace. Way way back when Dems liked this country too, or at least it was good politics to act so.

I was up helping my wife up and loaded to head out to Memphis for Elvis Week. Shannon’s just old and cain’t sleep.

And anytime is football time.

The younger, hotter Hillary with cooler hair. Man, those were the days. 🙂
-
I was already on the Ho Chi Minh Trail.
-
Future sound bite: Doooood said Hillary is hot!

Feel free to use that against me if I’m ever running for public office. But not until then, please.

#27: So is fresh poop. In fact those two have lots in common.

Professional football already? The gamblers needed something to do, and the game riggers have to hone their skills what with all the instant replays and the like. When all else fails, jigger the rules a bit to achieve the perceived desired outcome. More offense, less defense, easier for ref to determine the outcome. Gotta have parity you know, which means the players cannot be allowed to determine the outcome of the game. Before long they will probably quit keeping score anyway because it’s just not fair. Maybe each team has to have at least one player in a wheelchair, one dwarf, one woman (real, not artificial, determined by chromosomes and not by self-proclaimed identity), etc. What a joke this game has turned out to be, and yet look how far they have to go to achieve political correctness. Now, what words can be used on the field? I forget. Is it against the rules to make the blacks play by the same rules others have to play by yet, or can they make up their own rules as the game progresses? What about a white ref throwing a flag for an infraction by a black player? There’s a lot of work left for the NFL rules committee to deal with, but the gamblers and the networks will make the final decisions.

You’d be proud to know you agree wholeheartedly with a female EG, my wife. 😀
-
#30 EG: You seem a bit disheartened about the whole thing. Don’t hold back, tell us how you really feel . . . .
/ducks and hauls azz runnin zig zag like ST lernt us.
-
When the NFL decided that the purpose of the game was to provide entertainment as opposed to athletic competition, I gave up on pro football. Over time, it’s become more and more apparent that the refs determine the final score, and were it not for the gamblers, there would be no audience outside the local enclaves for each team. I’m not in the least disheartened – I just no longer care. I think baseball is about the only professional sport that is not rigged (golf is not a sport since no one bleeds), and I’m not so sure about that at times.

Well,
Those of you who are disappointed with the Republican Party Leadership’s

I went into Hobby Lobby this past weekend to get some baby gift supplies.
They already have Christmas on their shelves.
If it weren’t the only place I could find the special fabric I needed, I would have left. That just disgusts me. Can I not have enough time to enjoy the other holidays?
I love HL, but that one thing really leaves a bad taste in my mouth. Perhaps I should start something on FB, write a letter…
-
#35 TT: I find it really difficult to believe that it would be possible for the holiday (which I no longer celebrate) to be cheapened any further; particularly galling from an allegedly Christian owned company.
-
Only 19 weeks until Christmas!
http://www.days-until-christmas.co.uk/weeks-til-xmas.htm -
Like I said on FB: I give Hobby Lobby a pass on this one. For folks who are crafting Christmas gifts and decorations, having the extra time is a good thing. You’re not going to be able to make wreaths, stockings, or Creches for the whole fambly if you can’t get the stuff you need to make them until the end of November.

From time to time, I find myself agreeing with Sarge. This is one of those times.

Somebody needs to tell The Donald that abortion is the only “service” PP performs other than supposedly the requisite medical work associated with it to try to keep the mother alive. Other health issues like Pap smears, mammograms etc. not so much.
Referrals elsewhere, don’t do that in house. However they apparently do have a thriving business in human baby body parts for sale. 🙁 the Donald needs to watch all the videos from start to finish. If he hasn’t already. -
I’m pretty sure that a man with The Donald’s bidness sense (and his education at Wharton which he is constantly reminding people of) completely understands the principal that cash is fungible.
But he obviously thinks his supporters are stupid—-and maybe he’s right about some of them—–

Now Tedtam, seeing Christmas at a craft store is totally different from seeing it at any other store.Crafters need time to turn raw materials into a finished product in time for a holiday that is a mere 4 months off. Since virtually every one works these days, it can take a long time to get a craft project finished. I know that is one (but only one!) of the reasons that I stopped buying craft materials and doing crafts myself about 10 years ago.
-
Yes, Hobby Lobby gets a pass on this one. If GJT throws a Christmas party next week, you are allowed to bludgeon him with your crutches.
-
Doesn’t one of these craft shows have a Christmas in July event?

“I would … note that an awful lot of Republicans, including other Republican candidates, have gone out of their way to smack Donald Trump with a stick. Now I think that’s just foolish,” he said.
Asked why, Cruz paused and then replied, “Donald Trump had a rally in Phoenix, Ariz. [to which] between 10 and 20 thousand people came out. When you attack and vilify the people at that rally as crazies, it does nothing to help Republicans win in 2016. I’d like every single person at that rally to show up and vote in 2016, knock on doors with energy and passion, and turn this country around. If Washington politicians show contempt and condescension to those [voters,] that is a path to losing at the ballot box.”
And when asked whether he wants those voters to eventually support him, he replied, “It is my hope to earn the support of the supporters for every other candidate in 2016.” -

http://www.msnbc.com/msnbc/martin-omalley-raises-legal-questions-democratic-debate-planLooking at the iron fisted control the Hildebeyotch is trying to exert over the D party machine, can you imagine the terror she would unleash on the American people?

Things may not go so well for the Hildebeast between now and November.
I can tell that when McClatchy does reporting of this sort on a Democrat, there is some “there” there.

Hearing some thunder in the distance.
-
I found a video of EPA Adminstrator Gina McCarthy apologizing for the EPA massively polluting the Animas River.
-
Well, that apology should take care of the problem with the polluted river then, or at least in the eyes of a female administrator. Nothing else to see here, so move along.

RE: OC Pic
Looks like a lot lizard I used to see around in Louisiana. The old Hillary prolly looks like her too.

Hammy and many others should be getting some weather, according to the weather radar. My scaredy girl cat has been under the bed for about an hour — thunder terrifies her — but so far we’ve just had winds.
-
The radar is lying. It’s sprinkling a bit but looks like most of the rain is well south of us.
-
Do you think the general public realizes that all of the “photos” from the Hubble Space Telescope we’ve been seeing for the last 25 years are photoshopped more that Bruce Jenner’s freak show photos?
-
I misunderstood. I thought you were saying I could see the real Bruce Jenner thru Hubble. I was more excited than the Doooood holding a 70’s Hillary poster….
-
The general public believes we really landed on the moon.

The whole NASA thing is a hoax. Those guys are really down there raising deer.

Oooohhhh baby! Gonna start searching ebay right now to see if I can find me one o’ them!

Hubby ate dinner and fell asleep. His phone rings, and he answers it with his eyes closed. He actually said several sentences that would have been appropriate for this time of night, to someone who would call him after hours I thought he had his headset on…and then he starts snoring, and his phone rings again. And again. Hubby didn’t answer it the second or third time it rang.
I smile.

RE Hobby Lobby
Christmas crafts is one thing. Fully complete decorations, including angels and Nativity sets, that’s something else.
The weather here was severe. It hit while I was inside the grocery store, and it caused problems with the equipment. I braved the rain to put the groceries in the car, not realizing how many lightning bolts there were.
And how close.
Had to change my unnerwares when I got home.
-
Something odd happening at Chez Harp. Unexplained water falling from the sky. What could this be?
-
God is crying.
There are so many reasons.
-
I went to the funeral this afternoon. The two girls were a handful. Lovely Daughter and I kept trading them off and trying to keep Sunshine as quiet as possible and corralled in our pew.
Lil Darlin’ was cute, working the crowd and spreading smiles. She gave me “kisses,” which consisted of putting her open mouth over my nose.
She bit down, using her two little teeth to attempt to remove said nose from my face. When Sunshine gave me a similar kiss, she just attempted to drown me with slobber.
I love being a grandma!
-
So… I think I like that show Hard Knocks.
-
Things got wild out here about 6:15 just as David Paul was showing the severe stuff marching into the Houston area. Suddenly the massive clouds full of lightning appeared rushing toward us from the NE with the wind gusting fiercely ahead of them. Got the horses into the barn and settled with their supper just in time and made it back to the house before all the lightning arrived along with rain.
Power was out for over an hour so it was darker than it should have been while the storm was over us, thunder rattling the windows and shaking the ground. When almost all of it had passed I ventured out to the rain gauge to find 0.9″ in it. Some straggling clouds might have topped it off to an even inch by now. Most welcome indeed. Best of all it got down to 74 in a hurry.
Maybe there will be a repeat tomorrow.
-
unnerwares, I’m not so sure about.
