Good morning Hamsters. Lots of ground mist and 74 at 7, regrettably again the only moisture nature is likely to provide today. Sprinklers are on and near finishing their cycles in the yards, but cracks in the pastures are getting larger. We could at least use a couple inches of shade today.

Why does COH parks department trucks pulling trailers on the freeway need blindingly bright flashing strobe lights on the back of the trailers? The trailer had all the stop/running lights working in fine order, why the wiss is it necessary to blind everybody behind that rig while it is going down the fargin freeway???
On the same note, why do garbage trucks need that flashing light at all?? I mean it is a big fargin garbage truck for cryin out loud, if someone can’t see the truck the damned flashing lights aren’t going to help. . . .

Precisely. However one must consider the scenario in which a sighted person is doing the driving and the passenger is the blind one who needs to make the withdrawal. Other than that, it is nuts.

(CNSNews.com) – A study commissioned by the National Black Chamber of Commerce, which represents 2.1 million black-owned businesses in the United States, found that the Environmental Protection Agency’s (EPA) Clean Power Plan would increase black poverty by 23 percent and cause the loss of 7 million jobs for black Americans by 2035.

The study also found that the EPA’ plan would increase Hispanic poverty by 26 percent and cause the loss of 12 million jobs for Hispanic Americans by 2035.

The EPA proposed the Clean Power Plan on June 2, 2014 to cut carbon emissions from power plants. The National Black Chamber of Commerce commissioned the study to evaluate the potential economic and employment impacts of the plan on minority groups.

Next door neighbors are out of town for a few days, so we and other neighbors are a tag team looking after their two horses. Their kids feed them twice a day and we look in on them twice a day and keep the water tanks full.

The looking in part is easy, if there are two horses standing up eating, things are ok, barring any signs of injury. Now the water tanks require a bit more work. One horse likes to play with the float on one tank, as in he pulls it off. Putting it back on does not last long, so we manually top off the 100 gallon tanks.

Last evening when we checked the water levels in both tanks were down some, and the float on one was askew thanks to Reggie. Spouse filled that one but left the float off, then went to the other one to discover an almost drowned squirrel clinging to the rim with its front paws and unable to climb out. He must have tried getting a drink with the water level too low and fell in.

Fortunately the owners keep a large spaghetti strainer next to the tanks to scoop out leaves and debris. Spouse scooped out the squirrel who leaped screaming from the strainer in mid arc and cussed a blue streak as he ran to a tree and climbed it. He was drenched greased lightning.

Why does COH parks department trucks pulling trailers on the freeway need blindingly bright flashing strobe lights on the back of the trailers?

You can thank the D.O.T. and the guy that “invented” that flashing light. How it works.

Flashing lite guy goes to the DOT and convinces them that installing those lights will make the truck more visible. He probably approached them with numbers of rear end collisions which are mostly caused by tail gating. The light is supposed to also warn the drivers to not follow so close. Thus reducing the number of rear end accidents.
    R I G H T .

The D.O.T. almost automatically says, “hey that sounds like a good idea” and wallah we get to see that annoying flashing light that actually does nothing at all but add to one more thing that the driver can get fined for when the lights go out.

That is the process in a nutshell. Don’t you feel better now? Don’t you feel safer?

I posted the list here recently of the 41 corporate donors to Planned Parenthood. I know this is shocking, but it seems PP must have lied about those alleged donors.

Representatives from Coca-Cola, Ford Motor Co. and Xerox say they’ve asked Planned Parenthood to remove their names as corporate donors to the embattled organization.

The move follows a Daily Signal report revealing the names of 41 companies that Planned Parenthood listed as donors. That list, which was featured on Planned Parenthood’s website, has since been removed.

“Only the disciplined mind can see reality, Winston. You believe that reality is something objective, external, existing in its own right. You also believe that the nature of reality is self-evident. When you delude yourself into thinking that you see something, you assume that everyone else sees the same thing as you. But I tell you, Winston, that reality is not external. Reality exists in the human mind, and nowhere else. Not in the individual mind, which can make mistakes, and in any case soon perishes: only in the mind of the Party, which is collective and immortal. Whatever the Party holds to be the truth, is truth. It is impossible to see reality except by looking through the eyes of the Party.”

The sacker probably is instructed to inquire if the shopper needs or would like help with the groceries. Lots of folks regardless of apparent age have conditions that aren’t obvious and would appreciate help. Though it would be better to ask if the shopper would like help rather than say need help.

I’m frequently asked that and thank the person for asking but say I can manage myself. To the two ladies on checkout duty on the mornings I usually shop whose lanes I frequently use I confide that I have horses and can move hay bales and 50-lb sacks of feed—not great distances mind you—and can manage the groceries myself. They just grin, as they are likely only about 10 to15 or so years my junior.

    Dude.

Cruz is a politician, not a Saint.

He’s been brilliant on this politically. He refrained from attacking Trump like the other guys, then upstages him at pretty much the exact perfect moment. He waited until after the Establishment cast enough doubt on Trump to be affecting him at the polls. The Establishment waited until Trump’s made the inevitable idiot remark everybody but a bunch of fawning, doe eyed, followers and sycophants knew was coming. The only real surprise was just how bad the remark was going to be. Dumping on POW’s fer cryin out loud. Cruz is never going to be that stupid, and he’s politically savvy enough to let other people do the dirty work for him. He hasn’t alienated folks who were looking at Trump, and he hasn’t alienated Evangelicals like Trump did with this other idiot remark.

    Ummm–

When somebody says “He’s a Hero because he was captured. I like people who weren’t captured.” he’s dumping on anybody who has ever been a POW. He’s implying that they did something wrong or were incompetent to some degree to end up as a POW.

He’s a disgusting piece of shoe scrapings for uttering that, and the only reason he hasn’t been dumped by everybody is they think they don’t have anybody who will talk the way he has.
