I thought we were in an unusually weak solar period and that is why the temps have been falling instead of rising as the hockey stick graph indicated that they would. This article states that we have been in a strong period.

We all eff up from time to time . The goal is to accept the forgiveness that is freely offered (and it is) and move on and grow from the experience instead of leaving a piece of yourself behind. Refusal to accept forgiveness burdens the soul .
You would have loved Sicily! The old olive trees there have the most interesting trunks – gnarled and twisted and -surprise! – HOLES in the tree trunks! They grow that way, and the older they get the more holes they get and the more gnarled the trunks.
but now I’ve cleared underneath a couple of trees that are deformed as the brush has worked over the years to choke them out. I have always looked at the deformed trees as art objects. These are feral trees and have never before been exposed to any sort of human attention. It’s doubtful that they will ever learn how to behave, but maybe they can be salvaged to perform menial tasks such as providing shade and a place for the birds to nest. Other than that, I don’t expect much from them.
