Air Raid

70 years ago, a large group of American B-29 bombers flew over Tokyo and several other Japanese cities, unleashing firestorms that surpassed those created during other raids in German cities such as Dresden and Hamburg earlier in the year.

On March 10, 1945, U.S. B-29 bombers flew over Tokyo in the dead of night, dumping massive payloads of cluster bombs equipped with a then-recent invention: napalm. A fifth of Tokyo was left a smoldering expanse of charred bodies and rubble.

The Tokyo raid was the deadliest single air raid of any kind ever conducted. Well over er 100,000 people were killed that night and in the early morning hours of the next day.

Can’t abide grilled tuna, though. Not a fan of raw tuna.

Tuna straight out of the can is just fine, too.

It’s possible to make tuna salad without any dressing at all. I don’t make it that way unless I have a request for a sandwich made with no mayo. But it’s possible, with enough juicy ingredients: diced tomatoes, pickle relish, etc. to make a salad that will stick together well enough to spread on bread.

I’m not sure I understand why anyone would buy an Apple watch other than because it’s the latest thing. Why do you need an interface on your wrist to your iPhone that’s in your pocket?

I refused to wear a watch for forty years. Bought one on a whim at the Timex Outlet Store on 290 about four years ago. Now I have an anxiety attack if I forget it.

My Mickey Mouse watch stopped running, but a new battery didn’t bring him back to life. I had an appointment where I needed to know the exact time — I have no cell phone — so I stopped at Target to buy a watch. That counter was busy and I needed to scoot, so I took an $8 (!!!) watch… Read more »

Oh, and I saw the greatest thing last night….I was making a late pass at Wal-Mart, getting a few groceries and topping off my tank with their cheap gas. There was a couple in front of me with a shopping cart filled to the brim with some shoes. “Someone is stocking up or reselling,” I commented. Nope. I was wrong.… Read more »

Man, I’m an absolute elitist with my $54 Timex.

Heh no fan boi watches for me. Perfectly happy with my $60 Wenger Swiss Army Watch bought at Sams club.

The examples quoted by Volokh here are instructive to those unclear on the concept: 2. Likewise, speech doesn’t lose its constitutional protection just because it refers to violence — “You can hang him from a tree,” “the capitalists will be the first ones up against the wall when the revolution comes,” “by any means necessary” with pictures of guns, “apostates… Read more »

And the esteemed Freedoms teacher fails to address the right of people of institutions to set policies and standards of conduct of which speech is part of.

there is no difference between a college (state run or otherwise) and this blog governing what can be said and the enforcement of those rules.

My bottom line is you have the right to say whatever you want, but people and entities have the right to shut you down if they wish if you are on their turf. There is no infringement on your Constitutional rights. Seems OU is well within its rights to shut the students up. From the OU Student handbook Prohibited Conduct… Read more »

Boney: City of Houston Extortion Alert I’ve mentioned this before. They hit up my MIL and some friends of ours who own multi-family apartment units for their occupancy permits, then followed up with a “Habitability Inspection”. If a property is cleared for occupancy, shouldn’t it be cleared for “habitability” also? It’s merely another way for the City to squeeze more… Read more »

Perhaps the misunderstanding of government control of free speech in this particular case is recognition of the fact that the OU campus is in fact public property. It is not privately owned and is just a public as a downtown street corner. I totally agree with you that free speech law was written to address abuses by our government toward… Read more »

And he commits a grievous error that is made in this country all the time………… Read more »
