Heard on the radio on the way in that 5 players from Buffalo – I am talking hockey here, who I have never heard of were voted onto the all-star team for the annual game. The announcer said it was a hostile take-over of the NHL from Latvia. 🙂
-
In other news, Target is closing their Canadian stores. This will leave over 17,000 unemployed.
Ouch. -
Morning. I’m definitely still worn out from all my exertions yesterday. The patient still has same symptoms and isn’t likely to be out of bed today. I’m slurping some coffee before I climb the stairs again.
TT, was Sunshine a late delivery — i.e. long gestation — or either of your two? Just wondering if there is a history of it. Hope you can post from the hospital, when the time comes. 🙂
-
Hey, there y’all are, TexMo, Goat, Bones and I peeked in on yesterday’s thread this AM.
Mornin’ Gang -
OK, so I’m over yonder and I mentioned Corpus Christi and 2 seconds later “Trip Advisor” pops up with ideas of where to go/stay…… and why does Jennifer Reyna keep popping up on my page?! Oh well, she is nicer to LQQk at than some of Squawk’s photo-shops. 😉

Republican Sen. Ted Cruz said Monday that Republicans should take advantage of their control of Congress to abolish the Internal Revenue Service.
“We need to pass fundamental tax reform making our tax code simpler, flatter, fairer,” he said Monday at Heritage Action’s 2015 conservative policy summit. ”And I’ll tell you, the single most important tax reform, we should abolish the IRS.”
Nice thought, won’t happen but a nice thought just the same.
-
#11: I’m sure the Ds will be all in for that. Dontchaknow that Bronco JugEars is just champing at the bit to sign that into law. I mean it’s not like the left ever abuse the IRS for nefarious illegal purposes do they?

What the heck is that big thing in the sky?? It bites my eyeballs when I look at it!

Since my mom is off being grandma and probably taking a nap considering we called her at 2 a.m. the newest addition made her entrance at 8:21 am and weighs 9 lbs 7 oz and is 20.5 inches long. This time around we had a much smoother labor and she came in about 8.5 hrs. She is a sweetheart already and just as cute as her older sister.

Headline:POPE ON CLIMATE CHANGE: MAN HAS ‘SLAPPED NATURE IN THE FACE’
Granted that this is an AP Story and one would consider inflammatory towards the Pope, however there is this:
Pope Francis said Thursday he is convinced that global warming is “mostly” man-made and that he hopes his upcoming encyclical on the environment will encourage negotiators at a climate change meeting in Paris to make “courageous” decisions to protect God’s creation.
Then there is this:
Those who reject scientific findings that climate change is man-made, however, have condemned the pope in harsh terms for taking up the issue at all. Their criticisms are based on previous comments by Francis and recent remarks by some of his top aides that there is clear-cut scientific evidence that climate change is driven by human activity.
The above is tossed in by the
authorspropagandists of the story. There is no clear scientific evidence that man is causing any climate change. The climate has been in a state of flux since Creation.
I strenuously disagree with the pope on this issue. -

“For example – Sharia law is not just different than our law, it’s not just a cultural difference, it is oppression and it is wrong.
“It subjugates women and treats them as property, and it is antithetical to valuing all of human life equally.
“It is the very definition of oppression. We must stop pretending otherwise.
“In my country, Christianity is the largest religion. And we require exactly no one to conform to it. And we do not discriminate against anyone who does not conform to it. It’s called freedom.
“A so-called religion that allows for and endorses killing those who oppose it is not a religion at all, it is a terrorist movement.
“I do continue to believe and hope that most Muslims oppose these bloodthirsty acts of terror.
“But that is not the point. Whether they do or not, the point is that radical Islamists do advocate the slaughter of those who reject their views.
“Free peoples everywhere must not pretend otherwise and must not coddle those who hold these views. And they must have courage.
“I favor robust debate on everything – on religion, on policy, on politics, on everything. It is called freedom.
“But when debate stops, and when a movement decides that they no longer want to debate their ideas, but rather they want to simply subdue, silence, and kill those who disagree…that is called terrorism, barbarism, and inhuman behavior, and it cannot and must not be tolerated.
“Let’s be honest here, Islam has a problem.
“If Islam does not support what is happening in the name of Islam, then they need to stand up and stop it. Many Islamic leaders argue that these are the acts of a radical few.
“Ok, it is their problem, and they need to deal with it.
“Muslim leaders must make clear that anyone who commits acts of terror in the name of Islam is in fact not practicing Islam at all.
Bobby Jindal’s upcoming speech.

Muslim leaders must make clear that anyone who commits acts of terror in the name of Islam is in fact not practicing Islam at all.
And therein lies the big problem; committing acts of terror, murder, debasement of wimminzes, etc IS ISLAM and to suggest otherwise is buying into the lie. The wholesale murder of those who are not muzzy is commanded near the end of the ko-ran, those that practice same are, by definition, good muzzys.

You come out of retirement? Were you that bored?
Hell no. Still retired. Just helping out a friend.

Anyone hear about this?
Russia, whose main export is oil, stands to benefit from a recovery in prices.
‘Without prior warning and in clear contradiction with the reassurances given by the highest Russian and Ukrainian authorities to the European Union, gas supplies to some EU member states have been substantially cut,’ the EU said in a statement.

I see that Lovely Daughter has beaten me to the announcement! Yes, #2 is adorable. She has blue eyes like her sister and likes to suck her fingers – when she can get them to her mouth. She is making adorable baby mewing noises, and has the appropriate number of body parts in all the appropriate places.
Grandma, however, is running on fumes. I will doing one or two more things, and then I’ll be trying to take a much-needed nap, as she has had MAYBE one hours’ sleep in the last 36!
Sunshine gets to meet the One Who Will Steal The Attention this afternoon.

Way to go, LD. Congratulations!

Congratulation LD,AB and Tedtam glad all went well.

Congratulations on your personal population explosion, LD.

I’ve been baffled over this whole Eurostupidity getting locked into the Russian gas market. It’s beyond suicidal. And now Merkel flipped out and shuts down the two dozen or so nuclear plants in Germany, fires up old coal plants and builds new gas turbine generating units just as Vladimir is getting desperate for cash and power.
The last thing I read was the Germans and French are paying between $13 and $15 per MCF for natural gas. The 2014 average spot price for North American natural gas at Louisiana’s Henry Hub was $4.49. We should be building LNG facilities along the Gulf and East coasts to ship the Euroidiots American and Canadian gas because the price spread is obviously there.
-
Lovely Daughter:
Congrats to LD and her AB, and to TT and her DH! So glad you finally “popped”! And did it naturally to boot!
-
Tedtam, LD,AB and sundry family members:
Felicitations on the new arrival. May she be both blessed by God and a blessing to her family!

Soooo..mharper, what shall #2’s Couch name be? I hear you won the baby pool!

How about “Stormy” ?? -

The reason there are duplicate posts from GTO last night is because he posted it twice. I hauled the first one out of the spam vault about 7:30 this morning and Squawk did the second one awhile later.

That’s why there needs be a revolution of Islam. There are Imams and lots of Muslims who condemn terrorist attacks and claim it’s not part of Islam. That’s good but I do not not find it suffucient. Islam has to say that there’s a problem with Islam and it needs to be fixed. That problem is the sheer number of terrorist who kill in the name of Islam and Allah. President Sisi of Egypt has it right but his words are only the very beginning. It must from there foster into revolutionary action from Muslims within Islam itself. That’s a huge deal.
-
Hell no.
Well, that’s settled. 🙂
-
#30: Trying to build if the ecoterrorists would shut the heck up. We are trying to build a pipeline to the east and the usual suspects are putting up roadblocks. Alberta sends money every year to the Feds from our oil revenues to help those clowns in the east and then they blitch about fracing. Cut them off I say and let them freeze in the dark. 🙁

A great article I found through American Digest.
Yet there’s an aspect to this that someone at Ace of Spades HQ brought up I think is worth repeating and considering. Posting under the name “Wheatie” she noted:
Let’s call those ‘No-Go Zones’ what they are…they’re Colonies. It’s not immigration if you are ceding them territory. It’s Colonization.
And that’s a key point here. See, in parts of Paris, as well as parts of different cities in England (Primarily London) and its getting that way in places such as Dearborn Michigan in the USA as well as elsewhere, Muslims are creating colonies. -

I’m glad the baby was saved but not sure it was benevolence or maternal instinct on the part of the cat. I’d say it was more of a happy accident. -
No response to “Stormy” as a contrast to “Sunshine”?
Ok, how about “Moon Unit”?

#37 Darren:

Therin lies the problem. In order to take the murder out they have to say that what ole Mo said was wrong and that will not happen. Ole Mo said to kill all the non-muzzies at the end of the book so therefore that is the way it is. If you can get a portion to ditch those parts – they cease to be muzzies and will be subject to the death penalty from those who do not change.
-
Welcome to a brave new lady as she begins the journey of life here on planet Earth.
-
I like ‘Stormy’. There is a very fierce feminine streak in that line. fwmoiw.
-
I’ve heard of texting while driving but giving birth while blogging? Was the cord even cut yet just to beat your mother on the announcement? :
just kidding, congrats on the new entry to this glorious existence, be proud!
-
BTW, I like Stormy as well.
-
Further to my #48: If you can get them to admit that Mo was wrong about the murder, lying, slavery, mysogeny, jihad and terrorism what else is left? If the muzzy admits that part of the ko-ran is wrong according to his own faith he commits blasphemy and is subject to the death penalty. If you can get the muzzy to admit that even a single part of the ko-ran is wrong that opens the door to admitting that other parts are wrong as well and the ole Mo wasn’t all he is cracked up to be.
-
I see a few of the more discerning gents on the Couch have given a thumbs-up for Stormy. 🙂
Any votes for “Moon Unit”? (Where’s bobo when you need him…)
-
How many people died during the Ferguson protests? I read somewhere some cop mentioning of the 100 or so people that he had arrested, 90 something were from out of town. The question was asked here on these very pages: who is paying for the protesters?
Now we knowHEADLINE:George Soros funds Ferguson protests, hopes to spur civil action
subhead: Liberal billionaire gave at least $33 million in one year to groups that emboldened activistsSeeing as how he paid for the protesters to show up from out of town and those protesters caused mucho property damage; shouldn’t he be liable for triple those damages plus punitive damages for pain suffering and mental anguish? If the shoe were on the other foot, that very thing would be demanded of a conservative now wouldn’t it?
-
Stormy works because she was born during a long period of stormy, rainy weather and it keeps up the weather theme with Sunshine. It is not quite as awkward as FOTL2.0 either.
-
Any votes for “Moon Unit”?
I was going to but I remembered it is my policy to skip the vote. 🙂
-
Popular thinking is that by not voting some candidates get half a vote. So I suppose Stormy now has 1/2 of a vote.
-
Is anybody here planning to go see Patterns of Evidence for the one night nationwide showing on Monday night ?
There are 3 theaters in Houston, 1 in Sugarland and 1 in Katy booked. Here’s the list.

We’re building the hell out of them down here. I think I remember reading that there were some federal regulations that had to be repealed to be able to export more to Europe.

Here’s a list. There are at least eight under construction or awaiting approval.

Sunshine got to meet her sister at the hospital today. She wasn’t quite sure what to make of the baby. Mommy held them both for a bit, and Sunshine didn’t even want to touch her, just kept looking at her trying to figure everything out.
I took #2 in my arms and held her, and Sunshine became a little perturbed? Nervous? She came out of her mommy’s lap and insisted on her place in my arms. We asked the nursery to come get the baby so we could take a walk, for mommy’s benefit. Sunshine was very enthused to push the IV pole around. The kid LOVES to push stuff. That was the best part of the trip, for her anyway.
Yep, this could get interesting.

I don’t know as I like “Stormy”. I feel like it might be cursing Lovely Daughter to a troublesome kid.

I had forgotten about the Blue Ocean project offshore from Jersey, but the ones I really wasn’t aware of are the terminals proposed in Oregon. I didn’t realize they had that kind of pipeline capacity there. Japan is a total importer of gas and a huge consumer.

I refuse to vote.
The only girl I ever knew named Stormy had all kinds of interesting ways of making a living. And that’s all I have to say about it.
-
Japan is a total importer of gas and a huge consumer.
A friend of mine who just moved to Japan for work said they too turned off their nuclear power plants and that the bullet train he now rides to work had to be toned down in order to use less electricity. So I’m sure the demand for coal and natural gas has surged there as well.

I won’t agree that “it will happen” but you have hit it on the head. The task is astronomical and it will upset many.
On a side note, the gospel of Jesus Christ is to be preached to all the world. I’m convinced that God will open up presently inaccessible parts of the world. I also think we’ll be seeing Muslim conversion in the latter 9very latter) days. So, while I need to note that I’ve no idea when Christ will return, (who does?), when we see significant conversions from Islam to Christianity, we need to get to our confession booths right away. 🙂
-
If you can get them to admit that Mo was wrong about the murder, lying, slavery, mysogeny, jihad and terrorism what else is left? That’s essentially what will happen when accepting Jesus Christ. This is especially true since Islam was founded upon the idea that Christianity had lost its true was from God.

Aedhun urgently pulled my by the finger to the kitchen to point out a spot where water spilled on the floor. He then ran and got the broom and began sweeping it up.
What a good boy!

Chilly good morning y’all. There was ice on my windshield this morning in Glorious Copperfield. I looked in a hole in my yard but there was no ice, therefore it could not be called an ice hole.

36 Degrees and frost on the pumpkin this morning.
Crimmy, it is that warm here in the TGWN. Calling for around 40F here today.
As Stormy would be an on-line presence it could be her evil twin on-line and in real life she is an angel.

Deutsche Bank AG suffered about $150 million in losses Thursday after the Swiss National Bank abruptly removed the cap on the Swiss franc’s value, sparking a massive rally, according to a person familiar with the matter. Barclays PLC also racked up tens of millions of dollars in losses, although they totaled less than $100 million, another person said.
