Couples have disagreements from time to time. The most spectacular disagreements generally have to do with something utterly inconsequential in the grand scheme of things.

I snuck in about 5 and everyone was asleep so slowly closed the door and backed out.
Mornin’ Gang -
Well our petulant man-child in the White House didn’t get the memo; Obama strikes upbeat tone after a gloomy election.
WASHINGTON (AP) — For anyone expecting postelection contrition at the White House or vows to change course after a disastrous election for Democrats, President Barack Obama had one message Wednesday: Think again.
A day after Democrats lost control of the Senate and suffered big losses in House and governors’ races across the country, Obama struck a defiant tone. He defended his policies, stood by his staff and showed few signs of changing an approach to dealing with congressional Republicans that has generated little more than gridlock in recent years.
Rather than accept the election results as a repudiation of his own administration, the president said voters were disenchanted with Washington as a whole. And rather than offering dour assessments of his party’s electoral thrashing, as he did after the 2010 midterms, the president insisted repeatedly that he was optimistic about the country’s future.
“It doesn’t make me mopey,” he said of the election during a news conference in the East Room of the White House. “It energizes me because it means that this democracy’s working.”
I, of course knew this as did most of y’all, he cares nothing about his party let alone the country so lets hope that the Republicans try to keep him from screwing up any more since they can’t do anything to help until he’s gone. SPITS~

The what to eat arguments are a regular here, I don’t even bother with the toothpaste or toilet paper anymore – you know, for the peace. I’m a man of peace.

Good morning Hamsters. Light rain, mist, dripping trees, gloomy skies, and 61 at 6 makes for the perfect morning to sleep in. Except there are mouths to feed in the barn and in the house.
The Meow in the house is persistent until the best of breakfast shows up in her dish and then she’s happy. The mares in the barn greet me enthusiastically as I come in the barn door and listen attentively to the sounds of breakfast getting ready. They stand patiently at their feedboxes and have the manners to wait until I’m on the way out of the stall before they dig in.
The Chron was fortunately double bagged, as it landed in a puddle on the driveway. Nice to have puddles though. Rain gauge had .60″ in it at 6:30.
DC remains in shock at Tuesday’s results.

Doesn’t that make personal hygiene somewhat challenging?

Bright sunshine has returned to the CenTex area. We probably got around 3″ of rain over a 2 day period, so not much runoff and the dry soil was able to absorb quite a bit. Deer hunters are reporting a good harvest this year, and the tire shop if full of Jeeps, pickups, and ATV’s all having flats to be fixed – they haven’t mastered off road driving yes I guess.

This really is a profound story by Anthony Watts of the Watts Up With That ? climate science website.
By the time I was five years old my mother began to realize that something was not right with my hearing. She would accuse me of not paying attention to her or to be ignoring her when she called me to come in after playing outside. By the time I was 10 years old I needed a hearing aid and for the first time I heard crickets and birds chirping and it rose to a “wow” moment for me. But it did not last and my hearing continued to degenerate. A couple of months after I got my first hearing aid, my father died unexpectedly and thrust me into an even greater personal turmoil.
and
And to my amazement dozens and then hundreds of accolades and comments started pouring in while I was sitting there at the bar. I began to cry and tears were streaming down my face. I was so happy and I couldn’t stop it because the weight and pain of the last 40 years were suddenly lifted from me. It truly was epic.
There were two people sitting at the end corner of the bar who looked at me and asked with concern, “Sir, are you okay?” I proceeded to tell them what happened and I had a glorious conversation with two people who I had never met and I understood every word. They were thrilled for me.

All those brave souls who dare Speak Truth To Power here should understand that what they do entails less risk than making a PB&J sammich.
In other places, speaking out can have more serious consequences.

Ummm, V. Foster and Fort Marcy Park come to mind.

Well we’re heading back up to the woods tomorrow, maybe that rain settled the dust a little. I mentioned on Monday night that I bagged a nice Pseudo 8 pointer (150 Lbs) on opening morning and Bones if you missed it, since it was late, it’s #58 on November 3, and no I didn’t get a ticket but a lot of folks did.

I hadn’t seen a word in print about the UK bringing Libyan “soldiers” to England for training. Wasn’t going too well anyway, when it was discovered that some of these foreign troops were going on raping raids into nearby Cambridge University.

Neither of which involved anyone in the general public speaking out.
I’m talking about your run-of-the-mill activists who always show up at various protests to cavil, mewl, and puke over the latest cause du jour. Foster & Brown were insiders who broke the code of omerta.

Yup, grilled some backstrap, the rest of the meat, except the tenderloins and heart is at the processors.

BACA loses in an appeal in the Florida courts.
This is a cloudy area of the law and there is nothing really cut and dried for these issues. There are, however, good arguments both pro and con regarding the guarantee of due process for the accused.
Inherent prejudice has been shown here. By displaying their insignia, the bikers intended to do more than be present as support for the victim. After all, the victim already knew the bikers. Thus, they could have provided support to her by merely being present without wearing any distinguishing clothing. Instead, in apparent contravention of the prosecutor’s instruction, the bikers chose to appear, as the morning trial was set to commence, in clothing which was intended “to communicate a message to the jury.” Woods, 923 F.2d at 1459. That message was the appellant was a sexual abuser and that sexual abuse was to be condemned by a guilty verdict. As the trial court stated below, the bikers engaged in “reckless advocacy” — advocacy of a certain outcome to be reached by the jury regardless of what the State proved at trial.

So how badly did people want to vote against Democrats?
Well, in Illinois’ 12th District (which has been held by a Democrat for 70 years), the incumbent Democrat ran this video of his opponent in campaign commercials calling him “Meltdown Mike”.
The Democrat incumbent lost.

Re: Baca decision
So is the court gonna stop law enforcement personnel from wearing their uniform while sitting in the audience? How bout the military? Both uniforms represent protection and use of force. This decision is a bunch of bologna and bovine processed hay.

#s 37 & 43 – While I can never ‘speak for’ other BACA chapters and how they operate in a given moment – I do KNOW THIS:
The very FIRST thing BACA is in ANY courthouse or courtroom is a ‘GUEST’
THEN after being a welcomed guest we are GUARDIANS of the childAny judge in ANY courtroom is “king” (or queen) of their domain – here in Texas BACA A L W A Y S makes damned SURE to check with the D.A. to determine IF we are allowed to wear our cuts in the courtroom – in some cases we cannot even wear our cuts on courthouse property……………….
This sounds like someone failed to do their due diligence – no more / no less
-
#48: At this point in the game, I don’t even think she would make good alligator bait.
-
Y’all that thought the catcalls were mostly just men being friendly, here is a new woman-walking video for contrast. 2:23 total.
-
Brother Katfish
I understand that there is an acceptable dress code in all courts. The judge is the king, I know and accept that also. My complaint is the “reasoning”. Had the decision been made and they said that the attire was inappropriate for a court much like Wendy Davis wearing a tube top and Daisy Dukes in court would be I would have no complaint.
I am curious as to what the “prosecutor’s instructions”. I may have missed it in the story.
BUT what chills my _-_- is this statement:
Inherent prejudice has been shown here. (CIRCUMCISED) the bikers chose to appear, as the morning trial was set to commence, in clothing which was intended “to communicate a message to the jury.”
This is so much BS. Having been on 5 juries myself I can pretty much say we were pretty aware of who was observing in the court and what their purpose was. On one occasion 2 police officer were in court observing in full gear and uniform. What is the message there?
This is a case of a perp using the court to get his case thrown out by any means possible. As you know well, the court room is not some sterile bastion of neutrality. Yes this BACA chapter may have boo booed but the accusation was nothing more than icing on the the defendants cake. If he could get away with it he would have BACA barred form the court.
-
#51 – In many, if not most, if not ALL instances……….the “wear our cuts or NOT” conversation revolves around “potential fodder for appeal”
Some judges have big ole Huevos and some do NOT – this could even be an instance of the D.A. not wanting to take ANY chances appeal-wise………….
-
Instead, in apparent contravention of the prosecutor’s instruction
All you need to know.
-
more on MY #52 – We (BACA) are more than happy to appear with our young HEROs with or without our vests on………….we always wear clean jeans and nice white collared shirts (sometimes even nice jeans are not allowed so THEN we wear dockers or such)……….in most cases we are the largest single group in a courtroom
-
#53 – I read that line and it gave me a CHILL for sure – if direct instructions were given and ignored……………..all bets are OFF (and someone will be getting a thorough a$$ chewing)
-
in most cases we are the largest single group in a courtroom
I wonder when that is going to become a no no? I really do understand the need for the prosecutor to control anything that could be used as an appeal. My argument here is there is no way they can imply intent of the BACA members in the court room outside of supporting the HERO. Oliver Sudden you guys are on trial and that is wrong. But, I am tilting at windmills. So I will put away my Don Quixote suit and just say thanks for all you guys do.
-
AND…….in most cases WE (BACA) are already SEATED before the jury is marched in – no physical WAY a Juror could see what is on the BACK of our vests – at least not without x-ray vision………..

Antlered does are rare but turn up every once in a while. They are far more uncommon than big trophy bucks. I’ve known long time hunters who consider them a major trophy since most will never see one. The antlers having any definition is even more unusual.

Deranged blithering idiot bull dyke pleads for sanity from the Republican congress.

I wonder if the government has an ongoing study of obesity in antlered does ?
-
I saw one once. The antlers usually don’t branch out and grow up in a cone shape. (According to the pa-in-law’s tome on white tails.) It didn’t come out of the trees where it was supposed to so that horny chick survived. Didn’t appear obese.
-
I’ll send you the vid if wagonburner forwards you my email address…,
The antlers are surprisingly defined compared to the ones I’ve seen online. -
Apparently horny does are not that rare as advertised by all the individual google results I found. Check out the rack on this one.
-
I’ve seen some wide ranging estimates on the incidence of antlered does. From 1/1000 to much rarer.
I guess only the bucks know.

Man, I’m outta touch. Who won the Harris County DA race?
-
Some Doe with horns. It weren’t Ogg

#64 – GREAT story!
-
I’ll have to add another name to my list in another four years when discussing the Texas governer’s race.
Remember Garry Mauro, Tony Sanchez, Chris Bell, Bill White, and Wendy Davis? Yeah, me either. I have to look them up every time.
-
At least *so far* I’ve kinda like this Gent
-
Tony Sanchez. Wasn’t he the Great Brown Hope?
-
I will always remember Wendy Davis and her wandering beauty mark. I was amazed at how in some vidiots that thing just seemed to disappear and then in others it looked like a big round boil or zit. And her voice. Good grief she needs to get off the testosterone.

I think Wild Bill was one of the guys in ST’s harem.

RE: BACA
Probably half or more of the judiciary agrees with you. Your comments about police and military uniforms are a valid argument. I can think of a number reasons beyond those. There are no hard and fast rules about this stuff and never will be. It’s going to be up to individual judges and prosecutors. Higher courts are going to avoid micromanaging lower court judges over how to set their courtroom dress codes, as it should be. However, its always going to be an issue here and there. A defense lawyer can file an appeal on just about any grounds no matter how trivial or irrelevant or illogical. It’s part of the headache of our system.

I always wanted to get Bill White onto the beach in the middle of August. That boy was the whitest guy I have ever seen. Could you imagine the pain and suffering he would experience from a full day under a beach sun? Whootoo

Yeah I know. Like I readily admit I am tilting at windmills on this one. I am proud of Katfish’s approach to the decision and not jumping in with me on the rant wagon. -

I’m just wondering how long Joe Manchin can hold out as a Democrat now that his whole state and legislature has gone Republican.
Odds anybody ?

Nope not me. I am no heathen.

I do add jalapeños though. Corn bread is not corn bread without jalapeños.

I like jalepenos and cheese in my cornbread. I have no problems with anyone making thier cornbread any damn way they please.

If Manchin wants to caucus with the Dems, he’s already doing that because he is one. I’m quite sure declaring himself an Independent and continuing to caucus with the Democrats isn’t going to help him one bit at home. That’s not going to fool those coal miners.
The WV State Senate went from a 24-10 Democrat advantage to a 18-16 majority for the Republicans. The WV State House went from 53-47 Democratic majority to Republican favor 64-36. Also, all three US House seats are now Republican as well as the other Senate seat.
They are angry as hell in West Virginia.
-
Corn bread is not corn bread without jalapeños.
Yes.
-
Banana peppers are an acceptable substitute for me. No white flour it is just there for the glue, use an extra egg. Bob’s Red Mill Polente makes the best. Use their course ground blue corn meal as well. Cooked in an 8″ cast iron pan with bacon grease. My Grandmother used Lamp’s stone ground. It has a very sweet taste with no sugar added. I much prefer the Red Mill Polente. Also works as real yellow grits. Use lots of butter, no salt.
-
Tedtam, any update on DH?
-
I just tuned in with the same question.
-
89 GTO
At one time, there was a stone grinding operation over in Hockley and I would try to go down there on the days they were grinding corn. I would take that cornmeal home while it was still moist and make cornbread with it. It was so good you didn’t even have to put butter on it. Came out of the oven tasting like it was already buttered.
-
If Manchin wants to caucus with the Dems, he’s already doing that because he is one.
I know he’s a Dem. What I meant was he will switch parties like Jeffords did.
-
I think Senator hatch reads hamous’ posts and they scared him straight.
-
I’m one Texan who doesn’t like jalapenos, hot or not. Just never liked the flavor.
I also don’t do heat very well, nor cockroaches. I detest the smell of beer, and thus have never let it pass my lips, either.
I wonder sometimes if I’m a transplant, but nope, my birth certificate and all of my school records are from Texas. Maybe my momma fooled around with a Yankee or sumpin’.
But I do like a good football game. Can’t explain it, but I can watch it and cheer when the big burly guys wearing colors for one team manage to bash their way through the big burly guys in the other colors and manage to get that brown, oval-shaped ball over that big white line at the end of the field. Oh, and I like a good marching band, too.
Y’all.
-
A-hem. And how is Hubby?
-
I saw DH this afternoon. The docs have inserted a drain in his knee, and his leg is in a cast to keep him from bending it. From what I can see, the drain is working and what little skin I saw under the cast appears to be a much more natural looking color. And old friend dropped by to visit while I was there, and the the guys spent 3 hours talking, mostly about cars. We all left around six. Hubby was about to get dinner and I still had to eat (I’d left the house around noon), do payroll, take out the trash, wash dishes, and pay some bills. I’ve done some of those, trying to get to the others.
There’s a chance he’ll come home tomorrow, or Saturday at the latest. We’ve yet to hear what his at-home instructions are, and when he can get back to work. He may have to sit on the sidelines and be like that guy on the city crews. You know – the one that leans on the shovel and points the other guys to where they’re supposed to be working.
-
But it sounds like the crisis is managed. That’s good.
-
I’m not worried about him dying anymore.
But if he doesn’t learn to take care of himself, I might just take that job on myself.
