Oh, Please; Romney 2016 is for real.

Well there were 5 ladies out on the front yard this morning with no kids about and a young 6 pointer stood near by. So obviously the rut is on.
-
Good morning Hamsters. Well, back to the muglies for a few days anyway, 69 and
overcast, rain supposed to be arriving today for a brief visit. But we all know how that can turn out.The horse above is halfway to going over backwards, a most dangerous situation for the rider who is on the way to departing on the left side and hopefully threw himself clear before the horse landed on its back and maybe on him.
A possible scenario is the horse ruptured an aortic aneurism immediately following strenuous activity such as running full tilt. The leaping and falling over backwards is well known in such cases. It is literally sudden death. However in this case the man dodging out of the way could also indicate the horse had been standing and just flipped himself over. That also happens infrequently. Neither situation is good. -
Just not ready for prime time; Obama’s breathtaking naiveté at the United Nations .
President Obama on Wednesday delivered a speech at the United Nations filled with his usual soaring rhetoric of global collectivism and the importance of “international norms.” But the president also displayed a shocking naivete about global affairs, religion, Islam — a Pollyannaish interpretation on the state of the world and America’s role in it.
Although Mr. Obama won a Nobel Peace Prize just eight months into office, the president made his annual trip to the ineffectual world council to deliver a call to war. “Ladies and gentlemen, we come together at a crossroads between war and peace, between disorder and integration, between fear and hope.”
Of course he waxed poetic about “climate change” and the promise of “the children,” but the president was forced to devote the bulk of his speech to what he called the “heart of darkness” and the “cancer of violent extremism.”
He said upon opening his remarks that “the shadow of world war that existed at the founding of this institution has been lifted.” He couldn’t be more wrong. A true man of peace worthy of the Nobel Prize, Pope Francis, said just the opposite this month in remarkably astute comments to commemorate the anniversary of World War I. -
The never ending assault on the 2nd Amendment by our own justice department continues.
-
Further to #7: Seeing as how this assault of the market place for firearms, ammo and parts is having the direct effect of driving the producers of firearms intended for WE THE PEOPLE out of business, and the 2nd is still in effect, can the firearms dealers sue the Justice Department and the banks/credit card clearance companies that cooperate with the Justice Department for something like tortious interference, unlawful restraint of trade or more seriously – a direct violation of the Constitution?
What the feds are doing is a blatant violation of the law and spits on the Constitution, what are the R leadership doing about it? -
#8 -What good is litigation in a lawless society? Legal niceties are no longer recognized by the administration, and accordingly will no longer be recognized by the populace eventually. We are witnessing a complete breakdown in the judicial system, orchestrated by the powers who wish to fundamentally transform this once great nation. Once we were a nation of laws, not a nation of men – alas, such is no longer the case. In the good old days, if you spoke out against the King, they put you into an asylum; now they just send you straight to jail.

The dreadful horse pic seems to be from the Laytown Ireland race on the sand in 1994.
https://twitter.com/ToddTVG
It seems the horse pictured was alarmed by an inrush of water onto the beach, reared up, spooked some other horses, that trampled into the spectators, so there were injuries and at least 1 horse death, presumably the hapless one in the pic. I can’t imagine a horse surviving that fall. Awful. -
#9 EG: That being the case, and I don’t disagree with your analysis, can a revolution be far off?
-
Legal niceties are no longer recognized by the administration, and accordingly will no longer be recognized by the populace eventually.
Yup. The next step will be a predominantly underground economy a la Greece to avoid absurd taxes and regulations.

Yup. The next step will be a predominantly underground economy a la Greece to avoid absurd taxes and regulations.
I tend to think this is already underway. I know that I myself have started to withdraw from the game so why wouldn’t the smarter part of the generation behind me start doing the same?

#15 Sarge missed by that much……Just saw it on Wall Street Journal, then refreshed Drudge and saw the flashing light.

Although Holder gone would be good news, I could barely stand to read that NPR propaganda piece. Gave me the creeps. If Holder is out, I don’t see how he can continue to refuse to cooperate with all the investigations. ‘Course, the next AG could even be worse. 🙁 -
SEATTLE (AP) – The U.S. Forest Service is proposing permanent new rules that would require media organizations to obtain a permit to film and shoot photographs in more than 100 million acres of the nation’s wilderness.
Under the plan, the Forest Service would consider the nature of a proposed project before approving a special use permit then charge fees of up to $1,500 for commercial filming and photography in federally designated wilderness areas.
We’re getting very close to the point where it may be time to withdraw our consent to be governed by these oligarchs.

The explosion of the deficit/debt under Bush 43, and the geometric expansion of same plus Obamacare was the line in the sand for me. When the SCOTUS upheld Ocare (Roberts- urine be perpetually upon him) we oficially lost our country. When 0 was re-elected that loss became harder to reverse. If the Rs don’t take back the Senate AND start behaving as responsible statesmen then it is highly unlikely that there will be much left to save in 2016.

Good for these girls!

Well there were 5 ladies out on the front yard this morning with no kids about and a young 6 pointer stood near by. So obviously the rut is on.
This opens up so many jokes and visions of debauchery in my little mind when taken “literally” and “figuratively”.
/I will now go get a backhoe and chain to pull my mind out of the gutter. 🙂 -
Is this the reason Holder decided to resign now rather than wait until after the mid-term elections?
-
#22: There is a lot of talk about 0 pardoning Eric “the commie bastige” Holder on the way out of office if any charges are brought against him. Didn’t a law get passed preventing an executive pardon if the POTUS could be implicated in the criminality that brought the need for a pardon in the first place? Not that I expect the R “kittens” to do anything about it even if he does.
-
Squawk 😀 BTW, did you know that Two Rivers Lunch has a “Facebook” page?t

Hmmmmm
The rules exclude breaking news situations, defined as “an event or incident that arises suddenly, evolves quickly, and rapidly ceases to be newsworthy.”
But Osterreicher said the agency ignores big distinctions between editorial and commercial use and also should not be allowed to define what constitutes breaking news.

Two Rivers Lunch has a “Facebook” page?
Yup. Been to that place years ago. Great food

A dude named Rosie sez: We’re bombing Syria for their oil.

Rush just tossed out the idea that Holder is getting out in time to become a scrotus nominee.
If that is true then……. we are even more screwed than I have imagined.

NYC Mayor implicated in cover up of the circumstances surrounding the death of a beloved public figure.
-
#28: Not that I don’t think that 0 would absolutely love to have Holder on the SCOTUS, the fact of the matter is that his very nomination (particularly considering his criminal behavior) could cause a complete shut down of the country with riots across the land. OTH, he may do it so that he can declare martial law. There first has to be a vacancy and the only likely candidate would be the commie witch Ruth Ginsburg and she said she isn’t going anywhere. If he thinks he can pack the court like Roosevelt did and increase the number to 11 from 9, the effect would be outright revolution in the country. The bloodshed would be widespread and the totality of the guilt will be at 0’s feet.

We got so much of that Iraqi oil, sometimes I just pour a quart on the ground – to dirty the water.

Tony Stewart was no-billed by the Grand Jury.
In a related note, the decedent was apparently a libertarian who exercised his “right” to enjoy the bounty of the Earth a little too close to race time.
-
If that is true then……. we are even more screwed than I have imagined.
I wouldn’t doubt that is his motivation but I can’t think of any person on earth that Mocha would nominate who would have less of a chance of being confirmed by the senate. Those confirmation hearings would make the Bork hearings look like an NPR talk show.
-
Bonecruncher
could cause a complete shut down of the country with riots across the land.
You are kidding right? I mean seriously look at what the friggin resident has done in this country and yet here we are. Much more egregious things have happened and there has been nothing more than a collective yawn in the country.
-
the decedent was apparently a libertarian
Well he dang sure twernt a librarian who read the rules of the track like:
“don’t walk on the effing track when the race is in progress” -
You are kidding right?
I pray that we will never have to find out and that 0 will refrain from such provocative behavior.
-
Hammie
Mocha would nominate who would have less of a chance of being confirmed by the senate.
Huh uh. The “R”s will throw the required temper tantrum for smoke cover and usher him right in. In fact Beohnerco himself would don his little boy Fauntleroy pants and bow and scrape as he threw rose pedals down the aisle as Holder makes his way to the swearing in.
-
I pray that we will never have to find out and that 0 will refrain from such provocative behavior.
Now THAT i can agree with. 🙂
-
Beohnerco himself would don his little boy Fauntleroy pants
There’s a photoshop in there somewhere.

Squawk: I think there is a quiet seething rage across the country at the outright lawlessness in our govt right now. Just because PMSNBC aint reporting it does not mean that is not the case.
-
I think there is a quiet seething rage across the country at the outright lawlessness in our govt right now.
I’ve been saying this for a while now (since about the time the bailouts happened) that people know they are being hosed even if they don’t fully comprehend how or who is doing the hosing. I have no clue how long it will take this anger and frustration to manifest itself fully, but I’m afraid it will in a rather ugly way. This did not start with Obama and I don’t have any reason to believe it will end with him either. Recall back in the LST days how Cornyn posted his stupid form response letter explaining to us how Republicans didn’t want to bail out banks, they had to do it to save the economy. Pathetic then, pathetic now. Nothing has changed. It’s not about R vs. D. As it’s always been, it’s about political / ruling class vs. everyday shmucks like us who work for a living.

#40I think there is a quiet seething rage across the country
Oh for sure. There is also a whole bunch of fear too.
But here is something to ponderMOST people in this country are not politically engaged. One would think the opposite is true, but it ain’t. Most people are TRAINED to believe that political activism is voting during the elections. Anomalies like the phone meltdown of congress a few years ago only happen once in a great while. There is a great reluctance of the electorate to get into the streets. Why? Because we all have jobs, families and football to tend to. When atrocities of government happen there is a mindset of “oh s***, oh well” followed by griping till the next sports figure gets caught in some controversy.
And where is the “leader” that is strong character enough to cause “right wingers” into “civil disobedience”? He does not exist. Unlike the liberals “we” do not see rioting in the streets as a viable option to political change. AND IT SHOULD NOT BE. But civil rallies like the “tea party” rally in Washington we saw is. But that only happened once and it is that type of action that needs to happen on a sustained basis…….. it ain’t. WHY? Because we have jobs, families and football to watch. Frankly we are so screwed because we the people do not hold our elected politicians feet to the fire. And if he is not in our party even more so. Conservatives, tea partiers and general riff raff like me should be beating a steady drum beat on Obamaco’s phone. But we don’t because we have been tricked into believing it will do no good. I suggest the opposite is true. But we got jobs, families and football to watch.
-
#32 – “under the influence” is pretty ‘loose’ terminology IMHO
All humans retain THC in their fat cells differently – one can conceivably have detectable THC levels after NOT smoking any herb for a MONTH

Dooood
Nails it
I basically extricated myself from all this when I did a little study of political campaigns over the past 60 years. Same arguments, same problems and in the past 25 years things have just gotten worse.
i think God in his infinite wisdom gave us our last best chance with Reagan. But that is another discussion,
And how stands the city on this winter night? More prosperous, more secure, and happier than it was 8 years ago. But more than that: After 200 years, two centuries, she still stands strong and true on the granite ridge, and her glow has held steady no matter what storm. And she’s still a beacon, still a magnet for all who must have freedom, for all the pilgrims from all the lost places who are hurtling through the darkness, toward home.
We’ve done our part. And as I walk off into the city streets, a final word to the men and women of the Reagan Revolution, the men and women across America who for 8 years did the work that brought America back. My friends: We did it. We weren’t just marking time. We made a difference. We made the city stronger; we made the city freer; and we left her in good hands. All in all, not bad — not bad at all.
And so, goodbye, God bless you, and God bless the United States of America.
Ronald Reagan

#42 – Sad but true BroSquawkster – but at least SOME of us
got jobs, families and
football to watchBACA HEROs to empower.
Does not mean I don’t dream of some semblance of an actual revolt (which could be facilitated by mass motivation of only one portion of the populace)……namely TRUCKERS!……………..the one slice of the population that could bring this country to its knees pretty danged quickly………jus sayin
-
#45:
namely TRUCKERS!……………..the one slice of the population that could bring this country to its knees pretty danged quickly
I’d say about 3-4 days or so is all it would take.
-
Mr. Fish
I did not meant to disparage folks that have jobs, families and football to watch. I will be the first VET to say “if you want to thank me for my sacrifice please live your life free”. That means to set your priorities as you see fit.
But let’s face it, Conservative minded folks do not do riots and marches.
Now about “BACA Hero’s to empower”. That is more important than political activism will ever be. You good sir are having a direct positive influence on the weakest among us.
-
Applying Occam’s Razor, I think the probable reason for Mocha’s attack dog resigning is that Mocha wants to get another pick nominated and confirmed before Scary Harry is reduced to Minority Leader of the Senate.

So I took one of those ubiquitous quizzes on FB. This one was to guess my middle name. As with most of these quizzes none of the questions made any logical sense. Still, it guessed my middle name was Matthew, which is just one Gospel writer away from my middle name.

Five-O!
Ayoob’s Law Of Necessary Hypocrisy. How does the Law of Necessary Hypocrisy apply to defensive handguns? One example: I’m the guy who coined the phrase “friends don’t let friends carry mouse-guns,” and I personally don’t care to carry a .380; the best .38 Special and 9mm hollowpoints are my personal baseline minimum.
However, I work for myself and can dress how I like. The only environments in my life where I have to wear mandated clothing are part-time police work, where I’m expected to openly carry the department-issued .45, and court appearances, where most of my suits are tailored to hide a full-sized handgun that’s generally secured in a courthouse gun locker before I step into the courtroom anyway.
But I recognize a lot of people have more restrictive dress codes in “non-permissive environments,” and if someone has a choice of carrying a tiny Ruger LCP or equivalent .380 or nothing at all, I’d really rather they have that on their person than a .45 at home in the dresser when they’re attacked on the street. -

i think God in his infinite wisdom gave us our last best chance with Reagan.
But then Reagan accepted GHW Bush, a limp RINO, for his VP. 41 and 43 were nice men but gawdawful presidents, for the most part.

I’ve had the fifth in a line of very, very stressful days. I told Lovely that I was ready for some baby therapy this weekend, which she found amusing.
Lovely posted a picture on FB. It seems that Sunshine decided to help her Mommy with the laundry today, and “sorted” her clothes all over the floor.
Lucky Mommy!

#54 M42: I tried to read the piece, but the thought of reading that many direct quotes from Al “Tawanna Brawley” Sharpton was abhorrent. I ain’t got that many brain cells to spare.

I rest my case for my comment about last best chance. Few people know that Reagan was in negotiations to have Ford as his Veep. Reagan could/would not meet Ford’s demands. GHWB was an accident in alot of sense of the word. Richard V. Allen has a pretty interesting discussion about that here.

Not really. Only if you are running a server in the Mac. Now you Linux fanboys, y’all got problems.
I stopped using my desktop as an open server quite some time ago.

And the iPhone glitches will be fixed with the exception of the bending problem which is user initiated.

Microsoft Office is available on Android 😉
Actually I’ve mellowed on Microsoft somewhat. I got tired of email desktop clients and switched over to outlook.com some time ago. I like the interface much better than gmail. I’m running it in Chrome on Ubuntu and my android phone.

How in the world did that Bash mess get overlooked all these years? Good grief.

I loathe clients and have all but abandoned GMail myself. I still do not care for Windows on the desktop though.

Oh, and I ran the test to see if my system was vulnerable and I’m coo.
Heh. I tried to post the output from the test and bluehost sent this back in response so I guess their servers are coo too.

That is pretty amazing. Just reading the article it doesn’t look like it will be as bad as it sounds at first. What I would worry about is all those billions of routers out there running a linux kernel. Think I’ll check mine this weekend just to be on the safe side.
I still do not care for Windows on the desktop though.
I have no choice at work. Last year we FINALLY upgraded to win7 and I must admit it’s a much more stable OS than XP. Never seen a BSoD on it.

BlackBerry Passport Launch Event to the RESCUE!
and
Yes, I said it.
The beginning of the return of BlackBerry to global relevance — and not just in the corporate market.
If you didn’t catch the Passport release yesterday you missed the most-important part of it. It was not the device.
It was “Blend.”
What is Blend? It is a solution to one of the biggest problems you have as a person who uses multiple devices for various things — how to keep track of all of it at once in your daily life.
Here’s how it works — after you authorize the connection your phone’s text messages, emails, BBMs and similar are all accessible from your other device(s) whenever you want them to be.
This breaks new ground and solves a problem that has been a pain in the a$$ up until now.

My BSue has Windows 8. If Microsoft does it right they could kick Apple to the floor. But for the want of a damn START button they alienated their base. Bad move. Windows 8 is not all that bad if it is given a chance. It does have some issues with backwards (WinXP / 7) networking and that is problematic. But after having played with it for awhile and the OS has matured it has potential.Apple has been giving away their OSes as of late. I have had 2 full upgrades for free so far. Their end game is to get everyone on the same page for all devices compatibility interwoven with iCloud.
It won’t be long till all we will need for a desktop is a basic internet appliance no “hard drives” no operating systems except for basic functions, no apps to fuss with.

I took Win 8 back to the store. Win 9 is supposed to be along fairly soon. With Linux and Android variants out there I’m thinking shorting Microsoft is a good play since their product is no longer any different than you can download from Google or Amazon – just another face in the crowd. I think I’d rather own a Pirus than an Apple product, but that would be a close call – my ego needs a lot of stroking before I get that obnoxious I hope.
