Oh GEEZ – where’s Benzion when we need him most?
-
Morning, all. It’s hard to believe that a doctor would implant knobs in a patients head, so I guess that type of plastic surgery may be “home grown”.
-
Hmm, now I’m remembering a case here in Houston where a woman may have died in what was called “strip center plastic surgery”. I think it was for big-butt implants.
-
I just found out that two of Handsome Son’s co-workers were shot to death in a mugging that took place at their apartment complex.
And the man who used to be “Grandpa” to him for a while passed away yesterday, from natural causes. Hubby and I are taking this much better – we know the man as “a man,” while Handsome knew him as “Grandpa”. Trust me, there was a big difference.
Handsome has not, in the past, done well with death. Y’all keep him and the families involved in your prayers. -
I’ve maintained for years we arrived at our present state of distinctly partisan politics after decades of demographic and philosophic shifting – like huge national tectonic plates.
Michael Barone points out in this piece some of the key catalysts involved in this realignment of the body politic.Republicans did something similar when they won their House majority in 1994. Their 73 freshmen, shrewdly backed and mentored by Newt Gingrich, supported his move to have chairmen chosen by a leadership-dominated steering committee.
The result is that the Democratic Caucus became solidly liberal and the Republican Conference (the two parties use different names) solidly conservative. The polarized House is in large part the product of the Classes of 1974 and 1994.
The change can be justified on neutral principles. Committees more closely resemble the legislature as a whole, which makes legislating more feasible — and party leaders and members accountable to the voters.
The downside, in some critics’ view, is that the election of chairmen also gave would-be chairmen motives to raise money for other members, very often from K Street lobbyists. -
In case you didn’t see it. -
#6 – very TELLING to be sure! Dana could have easily just said “I grew UP!”
Also VERY telling (IMHO) at approx 5:47 when the ‘Lady of color” chimes in with :
“God BLESS You girl I’m getting my BRRRREAK when MY child goes to school!” (no doubt so she can sit her corpulent behind on the damned couch and eat more bon bons while whining about more deadbeats that need more freebies) -
Oh GEEZ – where’s Benzion when we need him most?
Amen to that!

It’s hard to believe that a doctor would implant knobs in a patients head
Not as hard as believing a doctor would chop off a dude’s junk, pump him full of female hormones, and think he’s turned him into a woman.

You’re not being diverse & tolerant.
-
I had a doctor tolerantly remove my diversity bone. I have it in a jar with my baculum.

Hello again Hamsters. Signed in on yesterday’s before this thread was up. Still 48 and rainy off and on, not inspirational at all.
The apparition above has to be a walking petri dish with all the possible entrances for opportunistic microbes to move in and stay a while. Gad.

Are you marooned at home again thanks to the blizzard? The Super Bowl shamans think they just barely warded off the storm until after the game, but that really was pure dumb luck.
As for political tectonics, agree that you and Michael Barone make a good case. This year’s elections will make it even moreso. Wager that all the Dems retiring already know of the Tea Party Democrats rising, but of course do not speak of them anywhere they might be overheard. Same for the increase in folks claiming to be Independents, legions of whom are former Republicans or vestigial old-time or Tea Party Democrats who are really Conservatives flinging poxes on both national party houses. These folks realize the primaries are the at-home battlegrounds to select like-minded candidates for statewide and national races and increasingly ignore the national party interference. And pleas for donations. Most importantly, the donations are increasingly staying at home and going directly to candidates of personal choice.
Realization that there are many more of us than them is liberating. 🙂 -

Scott Baculum?
I heard he’s got a new TV show. Something about speculums. -
Edd Hendee touched on this story this morning on the drive into town.
HEADLINE: Florida Court Allows Taking Of Private Land To Build A Major League Soccer Stadium Based On A Broad Application Of “Public Use” Doctrine
In this case, the private land happens to be a church, a long time well established church. From what I heard on the radio this am, the city is using emminent domain to seize the church and then sell it to the new soccer team. The “fair compensation” offered by the city is somewhere around $2 million dollars, the church elders claim that to replace what is being taken will cost around $35 million. The article linked does not detail these items.
This brings about an interesting question: If the city leaders are virulently anti-religion is any church safe? How does this square with the 1st amendment protections to freedom of religion? Based on the SCOTUS findings in the New London case, a city could conceivably choose to condemn a church property, which pays no property taxes, and then sell that land to a developer who will put up apartments and increase the tax revenue to the city. The SCOTUS decision states that increased tax revenue is a public good so therefore. . . . -
He has the capacity for reason, rational thought and the ability to process new information, therefore:
You’re not being diverse & tolerant.

Speaking of New London and the (in)famous Kelo case…
What if they seize a neighborhood, bulldoze it, and…
nothing happens? -
I think you use a baculum to open up the bacteria, which is the back door to the cafeteria.

How long before everyone who ever visited the Obamacare website will be the victim of some sort of computer-related crime?

Thanks for asking.
Enjoying a few sunny hours of break right now. Starting tonight at midnight we are getting probably 8 inches or more of snow alternating with sleet and frozen ice pellets on top of the 10″ sitting outside now.
Thursday through Saturday are predicted to be nice, but Sunday overnight we may have a repeat of the February 2010 Snowpocalypse that dumped 24″ of snow on New Jersey. They’re saying worst case scenario is 30″ in northern Jersey and NYC.
Her Highness wants me to get the generator and all the propane lights and heaters ready. -

New York man bites his brother’s ear during a fight at a Super Bowl party, leaving it “permanently disfigured”.
Alcohol was involved.
To the point where they were hugging and professing their love each other. At some point, they barfed in each other’s faces and fisticuffs and other chaos ensued.
Bonus: picture of what an ear might look like (prior to the alleged gnawing). -
The thing in the O/C pic must be in public relations or sumptin.
-
Texpat move home. This might turn into the year with no summer up there, meaning it would be comfortable down here.

It was never going to go well after their Super Bowl party drinking game card said finish your bottle off with a safety. -
A bottle and a half of Southern Comfort plus Jack Daniels between only two people?!? Man o man, just the thought of that hangover is terrifying.
-
I fear it will be a very small step to Sarah McLachlan.

just the thought of that hangover is terrifying
Would you really notice the hangover over the pain of a gnawed-off ear?

It’s hard to believe that a doctor would implant knobs
In 99% of the cases it ain’t no doctor that is putting knobs in peoples heads etc.
Meet Ray Lucero right here in Houston Texas.Ray Lucero

With that in mind, our speaking is only our technical opinion based on lots of experience and knowledge.
An opinion from a Body Modification person is no substitute for a professional opinion of a Doctor. -

This sort of thing is getting out of hand. Soon, the 4th amendment will have no meaning whatsoever.

Wonderful. Sunny out now and 51, breezy at 3:30. Thought we were in for gloom all day.
Yesterday saw on a link on the link I was reading a rundown on the Super Bowl ad audience (I think it might have been Breitbart) about another NCIS spinoff NCIS New Orleans in production or about to begin and headlining Scott Bakula and several other former TV series prominent actors (from shows we didn’t watch). The article indicated the possible NCIS spinoff Red something was not picked up after a couple of trial run episodes this year. That was the mobile ensemble with the two huge red semis that converted into office and living space when unfolded and joined. -
In the last 20 minutes or so the clouds broke here in Glorious Copperfield and it is really nice outside.

This thread is full of pabulum.

My BIL gave me a car calendar, and Feb has a smokin hot red with white hard top 1970 Challenger as the feature. Really nice. Then I think about the new SRT8 Challenger, and I realize that the new will outperform in almost every conceivable measure than the old one. Even better still, is the fact that you can go for 70-80,000 miles before you have to think about changing the spark plugs.

I am off to our annual pipeline safety meeting. I get to watch videos of houses blowing up and bulldozers engulfed in flames, because of careless excavation techniques. We’ll take a quiz about pipeline markers and requirements for calling in for locate marks. We’ll eat a dinner provided by the pipeline companies.
Then I shall watch in amusement as grown men, who spend their days doing manly work with large pieces of equipment, those men who make a living with their hands in dirt and who sweat for a living, rush up from their chairs, snap open their large yard bags and push each other aside to make the rounds of the tables that line the edge of the room, each trying to be first to get the free trinkets handed out by the pipeline reps.
It makes me smile each time. -
Hey, free stuff is free stuff.
-
Kinda like risking your life for 10 cent bead necklaces.

I used to collect all the swag at trade shows. After about the tenth year of dragging koozies, pens, key chains, frisbees, and other various and sundry items out of ever nook and cranny of my office to throw away I quit collecting.
-
# “L” I quit also,…you should see my desk/work area….Sigh
-
I’m just more picky.
I get stuff my kids would like or is really cool. -
They just tell you they like the emery boards.
-
I’m back.
Now it’s not just the grown men. It seems that they’ve informed their relatives about the free meal and stuff. I saw one grandmother and several families, some with kids as young as about six or seven, and they were all making their way through the line, getting their own stash. Some of the stuff was pretty good – some special 3 way LED flashlights that I love (glad I have more than one now), heavy duty measuring tapes, insulated travel cups, and even some nice needlenose pliers. Then there’s the other stuff – calculators, a couple of good pocket knives, and the assortment of pens and other small stuff. And hats. Lots of hats! (The cup lady was practically begging people to take extras, so I got three of those.)
What does a seven year old need with 3 pocket knives and a 25 ft. measuring tape? There were adults behind me, from the industry, who left empty handed because the vendors ran out. Heck, there were tables that were empty before I got to them, and I while I wasn’t far from the end of the line, I wasn’t at the end. I don’t see how a kid in grade school is going to prevent a backhoe operator from certain death and destruction by being there. They used to show houses blowing up and bulldozers on fire, which really would have been disturbing for some kids – if they had been paying attention. This year, they toned it down quite a bit. The kids, and some of the adults, still didn’t pay attention. There was a group at the table next to me that I wanted to smack. They talked and laughed almost through the whole program. I wanted to hear about any new regulations that I might have to comply with, and I had to try hard to ignore them. At least the kids were playing on their cell phones or had headphones on.
Now, I know that the stuff is free and it’s not mine to decide who they give it to, but it smacks of this sense of “gimme gimme gimme” that pervades our society. These are incentives to bring the excavators to the safety meetings so that they won’t blow up people or damage pipelines. The invitations used to say “no children” but certain groups just ignored it. I’m seeing more and more kids showing up. When I saw grandma there tonight, that was a first! -
Halloween loot in February it seems. The people watching surely was interesting in between attempting to listen to the speaker(s) deliver the primary reason for the entire shindig. Wondering if this was “entertainment” for some families or supper out. Or both.
