Wow, get up people it’s the weekend! π Enjoy.

Benfordβs Law of Controversy: Passion is inversely proportional to the amount of real information available.
-
squawk, I had a dream about you last night. Not the Gregg kind of man-dream, it was strictly on the up-and-up (no pun intended). We were at Wolfie’s on 1960, I think I had this dream because I drove by the other day and remembered the LST Brew-Ha-Ha there, I think that was the one where Smackie had to take care of Bramanti but I’m not sure. Ah the old days, we did have some fun times no matter what side of the argument one was on. π
-
I never knew that LST was a sort of Northside gang.
-
Hammy, I’m ready for some First Aid! With scrambled egg and buttered toast, please.
-
mh, we used to mix it up at various locations around the city, but there were a lot of LST’ers north of I-10!
-
Ah the old days, we did have some fun times no matter what side of the argument one was on.
Now I am worried about ya. Having dreams about me. UHOH LOL
Good times for sure. -
And there I was back then, working 60 hours a week, but missing all that fun!
-
Good morning and SHABBAT SHALOM, y’all
-
Canada’s best export.

#11 Phil: Nice, Rush is good also. I am partial to this.
-
Good morning Hamsters, second verse. The smoky haze from the marsh fires has returned here, and the windows stay closed until it goes away. A light southerly breeze moves it some, but there’s still a faint odor. Last I read the cause was not known for sure.
What a waste. And nuisance.
Since weekends are good times for bad news to spill forth from the Obama junta/juggernaught that wrecks everything it touches, what might appear today or tomorrow that it hopes to slip by the college and pro football addicts? ‘Cept of course from the Ravens who fell for advertising Obamacare while some folks want to watch football games. Did they really need the $$ that bad? Wonder how many phantoms will sign up because of that. -
#13 Adee:
What a waste
Not at all. Marsh fires are a wonderful thing, provided that they don’t get out of hand. Next spring, the areas that are burning now will be lush with fresh green vegetation and will greatly benefit the local fauna.
-
I am enjoying my weekend with self-paced exercises! Although I do have 2 very good PTs, and the Gulag Gym is well equipped with lots of nutty items. They have a sort of ice blanket that is very flexible and moldable to wrap around a swollen or painful area, which in my case is not the knee but the calf below the new knee. I’m trying to find something that good for use at home, but haven’t so far.
Hope everyone else is enjoying being out in this nice weather! -
I just got back for a delightful walk around the block with Heartcrusher, in from Austin.
-
#15 M42: A great big bag of frozen lima beans or peas works very well for that. Buy the cheap brand in the biggest bag. About the time they start to thaw you need to put them back in the freezer, it is time to remove the ice anyway. 20 minutes of ice is the magic number, any less and you don’t get full benefit – any more and you start to induce swelling, which is one of the things you are trying to reduce.

I knew there was a reason I have always liked the Aussies.
HEADLINE: Aussie PM: carbon tax is βsocialismβ
Australiaβs newly elected prime minister pulled no punches when giving his thoughts on the countryβs carbon tax, which he says must be abolished as quickly as possible.
βThe carbon tax is bad for the economy and it doesnβt do any good for the environment,β Abbott told The Washington Post. βDespite a carbon tax of $37 a ton by 2020, Australiaβs domestic emissions were going up, not down. The carbon tax was basically socialism masquerading as environmentalism, and thatβs why itβs going to get abolished.β
βIf the Labor Party wants to give the people of Australia a Christmas present, they will vote to abolish the carbon tax. It was damaging the economy without helping the environment. It was a stupid tax. A misconceived tax,β Abbott added. Now if he would just go one step further and state the obvious that man’s emissions of CO2 doesn’t do a damn thing to warm or cool the planet.
-
Yea for Australia’s PM Tony Abbott. Sounds like a kindred spirit of John Howard, former PM who told it like it is.
-
#17 Bones
Thanks for the tip on icing. I have been using some small blue ice pellets in a felt ice bag casing, along with the knee and calf being elevated on 3 fat pillows. -
#21!!! Dang I have to work today and the slackers didn’t hold up their end of the deal!? I was walking the girls @ 4:45 and @ work by 6:15, worked all day. got home around 7:15 and took my little ladies out for a walk. That said my wife is at Stone mountain Georgia and one of our friends that lives down the street feed the girls around 8 (normal time) and let them out in the back yard about 5:30, I told her to worry about feeding them because I’d be home by 7. FWIW; I’m Tarred!!
-
I remember one of the first brew-ha-ha’s at Wolfies, HS sat over in the corner with his cap on and wouldn’t tell anyone who he was for fear of getting attacked! That was the only one Benzion attended that I know of.
-
GJT, the third or fourth one was at “The Outpost” in the Clear Lake area, and I couldn’t make it because we were working 6 or 7 12’s every week. ALL the others were a few miles south of Dallas so I didn’t go to ANY of them. I understand that they had several outlaw, renegade Brew-Ha-Ha’s after someone got plastered and caused trouble, I’ll not name any names to protect the guilty. π
-
Psssst,….I still have pictures…. and HE!! I twern’t even there, remember if you post it, it NEVER goes away…..Just sayin’ π

I twernβt even there, remember if you post it, it NEVER goes awayβ¦..Just sayinβ π
Especially with me around
yup Benzene had a habit of not showing up . Oh wait i am just as bad. Never mind -
Since we’ve all been comfy on the Hamster couch, the only get togethers I recall are the picnic in Bear Creek Park shortly after the LST dispersal–and that was a blast–and the potluck dinner at Tedtam’s, which I unfortunately could not attend. Then there was TexMo’s (?) family and friends get together to which we were invited that I also could not attend. Most civilized compared to descending on a pub/bar for an evening IMHO. But then, everybody is now several years older…. π

outrage from my inbox:
Affordable Boat Care Act
I’m ordering a new one today!!
The U.S. government has just passed a new law called: “The affordable boat
act” declaring that every citizen MUST purchase a new boat, by April 2014.
These “affordable” boats will cost an average of $54,000-$155,000 each. This
does not include taxes, trailers, towing fees, licensing and registration
fees, fuel, docking and storage fees, maintenance or repair costs.
This law has been passed, because until now, typically only wealthy and
financially responsible people have been able to purchase boats. This new
laws ensures that every American can now have a “affordable” boat of their
own, because everyone is “entitled” to a new boat. If you purchase your boat
before the end of the year, you will receive 4 “free” life jackets; not
including monthly usage fees.
In order to make sure everyone purchases an affordable boat, the costs of
owning a boat will increase on average of 250-400% per year. This way,
wealthy people will pay more for something that other people don’t want or
can’t afford to maintain. But to be fair, people who cant afford to maintain
their boat will be regularly fined and children (under the age of 26) can
use their parents boats to party on until they turn 27; then must purchase
their own boat.
If you already have a boat, you can keep yours (just kidding; no you cant).
If you don’t want or don’t need a boat, you are required to buy one anyhow.
If you refuse to buy one or cant afford one, you will be regularly fined
$800 until you purchase one or face imprisonment.
Failure to use the boat will also result in fines. People living in the
desert; ghettos; inner cities or areas with no access to lakes are not
exempt. Age, motion sickness, experience, knowledge nor lack of desire are
acceptable excuses for not using your boat.
A government review board (that doesn’t know the difference between the
port, starboard or stern sides of a boat) will decide everything, including;
when, where, how often and for what purposes you can use your boat along
with how many people can ride your boat and determine if one is too old or
healthy enough to be able to use their boat. They will also decide if your
boat has out lived its usefulness or if you must purchase specific
accessories,(like a $500 compass) or a newer and more expensive boat. Those
that can afford yachts will be required to do so…its only fair. The
government will also decide the name for each boat. Failure to comply with
these rules will result in fines and possible imprisonment.
Government officials are exempt from this new law. If they want a boat, they
and their families can obtain boats free, at the expense of tax payers.
Unions, bankers and mega companies with large political affiliations ($$$)
are also exempt.Wissin busy body Ds and spineless, worthless Rs, and corrupt judges – A POX ON ALL THEIR HOUSES!
-
How about if everybody had to have a chamber pot and a window?
-
#29 Adee, that is funny and you have cleaned up one of my daddy’s favorite sayings “he/they didn’t have a pot to 9!$$ in let alone a window to throw it out of.”
Thanks, I’ve not thought about that in years. -
Well Lil’ Bit is sound asleep in my lap, her head resting on my right arm so I am typing/mousing with my left hand so I think I’ll hit the sack. Later..
-
Wake up you rasqules.
-
Blustery good morning Hamsters. Up at 6 to feed the mares; it had been breezy for a while before that and 68. Got to the barn just as sprinkles began, um coming almost sideways in the wind. Rain began pelting a minute or so later and was coming down steadily amid gusts when I was ready to go back to the house. Fortunately we keep a past-its-prime umbrella in the feed room for such occasions and so I made the ~50 feet to the house with head and shoulders dry. Rain came down hard for a while and now has slacked off though still breezy. We missed the severe thunderstorm box to the east on the radar. Currently 61. Hope the paper is double bagged this morning. Not going out for it until this mess passes.
-
Good Morning!
I woke to rain here in Clear Lake this morning, we already have an inch in the rain gauge. Yes,we’ll take it! -
#25 Squawkster, did you photo-shop that? Because looking at the eyes, the fellow looks an awful lot like HS. He is one of the few of Y’all that I’ve met. I met him at Liz’s memorial.
-
I slept lightly and was aware of thunder during part of the night. Finally got up to a downpour. Having a leisurely small breakfast and then time for the morning exercise set.
-
How long ago did LST start having these Brew-Ha-Has?
-
How long ago did LST start having these Brew-Ha-Has?
I’m guessing about 2005, not long after it started. I was there from the very start, before Benzene bought it from Dan Patrick. I do know that they started after Benzene took it over and I think that Matt started it, I’m sure someone remembers.
-
SuperDave
Were you at the one at that Barked Cypress sports bar?
And there was one on Long Point Rd. -
To the Barker Cypress gathering I brought a stuffed elephant with a noose around his neck.
-
#39 Shannon, no, sadly, I never made it to any of them. I was working an awful lot back then, thatβs not really a good excuse though. I was hoping that they might move south just a little but Big Jolly, bob42 and I were about the only ones on this side of town. Most of the folks were north to Conroe/Splendora and west to Katie/Cypress/Tomball.
#40 Was that the elephant that Matt was having sex with? π -
Yeah and the mask did not help much either.
Yeah, you were there Squawk. Neocon kept whispering to me, Psst. I think that’s HeadShaker over there!
-
#40 Was that the elephant that Matt was having sex with?
Are you remembering David and the RINO?
-
They are having a Bum Phillips memorial service at Lakewood Church Tuesday night, bet it will be highly attended. Love to go but I don’t go back into town on weeknights much anymore. It will be live streamed and I will be watching though.
-
Are you remembering David and the RINO?
Yes!
-
#41 Super Dave
Anybody know what happened to that elephant? π Correction Rhino. -
#46 Ms Adee, I don’t but I bet that someone here does. π
-
Prolly the same inflatable Rhino was brought to the one official CLOUT/KSEV meeting I ever attended. It was afternoon drive time at Jillian’s, if it was still called Jillian’s at the time. The general area of the Edwards Marq’E theater complex on Katy Frwy. I signed my name right on the anus of that critter. Edd Hendee was there on crutches.
-
A short piece on Valerie Jarrett.
-
The air show is at Ellington this weekend and I’ve seen FiFi (the only B-29 left that still flies) a B-24, B-17, B-25, A-26 along with P-51’s, P-40’s, Hellcats and AT-6’s.I absolutely love the sound of that B-29, itβs passed over my house twice in the last few minutes. π
-
Rip Lou Reed.
-
From mharper42’s linky.
Can you say “delusions of grandeur”?
What an incredibly stupid sycophant Jarrett is, from the article
“Consider this quote from New Yorker editor David Remnickβs interview with her for his 2010 book The Bridge.
Yes she actually said this;βI think Barack knew that he had God-given talents that were extraordinary. He knows exactly how smart he is. . . . He knows how perceptive he is. He knows what a good reader of people he is. And he knows that he has the ability β the extraordinary, uncanny ability β to take a thousand different perspectives, digest them and make sense out of them, and I think that he has never really been challenged intellectually. . . . So what I sensed in him was not just a restless spirit but somebody with such extraordinary talents that had to be really taxed in order for him to be happy. . . . Heβs been bored to death his whole life. Heβs just too talented to do what ordinary people do.β
BAWHAHAHA that’s funny right there I don’t care who you are.

#52 Dave
I guess she likes his sappy grin. -
I just ventured out to collect the rain gauge, which said 4.3″. I’m pretty sure that wasn’t all last night and this morning, but could have been anytime cumulatively over the last 2 weeks. π
-
Anybody know what happened to that elephant? π Correction Rhino.
It is hanging in the Benzion memorial wing of the LST library, dance hall and bar .
-
Don’t know how much rain we got but the area must have seen some rough winds, we went barndominium stalking around the countryside earlier and there are trees down and debris all over the place.
-
Anybody know what happened to that elephant? Correction Rhino.
I think D__ P______ adopted it, seeing it as a family member now.

D– has SUPERVISED visitation rights only. Benzion remains quite attached to his “Little Baboo”.
-
The little S.O.B. hangs in my closet.
With a picture of Rove pasted on its face. -
At least you didn’t cover up MHarp’s autograph.
-
#49 mharper42
That article and ones linked within it are must reading. The comments are well worth reading as well, but you need a chunk of time to do it. -
Rain gauge had 1.4″ in it when the clouds moved out. Yea. Did not lose power here.
Off to watch the Packers game tonight. Strange time for a football game. -
An interesting phenemonon is occurring to me right now; when I try to get to the couch using firefox I get this and have all day:
400 Bad Request
Invalid request. When I use chrome, it went right through.
