Howdy, Hamsterville. I got home yesterday afternoon and thought I posted, but I don’t see it now.
Maybe I didn’t click Post or maybe I did but Shannon deleted it. Later, y’all. -

Some enchanted evening, like tonight under the full Hunter’s Moon, a few Obamabots will finally get hit in the face with a bucket of reality when they enter the exchange website derby and can’t get through or get stuck after they’ve stupidly surrendered all their vital personal info. And discover their account can’t be erased even if they refuse to shop for insurance because it’s such a rotten deal. Just desserts for the stupid who voted for Obama and now own it.
Good morning Hamsters. Crisp 59 and overcast at 6 and no prospect for a repeat of yesterday’s gorgeous weather. That is sorta promised for later.

The portable phone is the only thing Max has ever chewed up.
Although he and the visiting dog surprised us with a living room covered with 4lbs. of dried beans when we got back from church. We had left the bag of groceries for the Food Pantry sitting by the door.
It was pretty funny. -
Joel Osteen thinks he knows better what Jesus said than the Apostles.
I was never a fan of Osteen or Lakewood Church. Just telling people stuff that makes them feel good is not automatically a sign of a good church. He is creating the universalist church of moral relativism. -

Obama and Ted Cruz go into a pastry shop.
Obama whisks three cookies into his pocket with lightning speed.
The baker doesn’t notice.
Obama says to Cruz: “You see how clever we dems are? You republicans can never beat that!”
Cruz says to the Obama: “Watch this, any republican is smarter than a dem, and I’ll prove it to you.”
He says to the baker, “Give me a cookie and I’ll show you a magic trick!”
The baker gives him the cookie, which Cruz promptly eats. Then he says to the baker: “Give me another cookie for my magic trick.”
The baker is getting suspicious, but he gives it to him.
He eats this one, too. Then he says again: “Give me one more cookie…” The baker is getting angry now, but gives him one anyway.
Cruz eats this one, too.
Now the baker is really mad, and he yells: “And where is your famous magic trick?”
Cruz says, “Look in the Obama’s pocket!” -
Regrettably, I won’t be able to apply the last mowing to my yard this fall. Arranged for neighbor’s nephew to do it tomorrow, hopes.
I’ll be doing same home exercises as did with PT’s at the Gulag. Signed up for OutPatient PT at Mem-H’s gym, 3 days/wk for 4 wks. THAT is probably when the pain I feel will become unbearable. Just a hunch. -

Yet there are troubling signs that [Roger] Olson and his self-styled “post-conservative” Evangelicals approach Scripture and tradition in ways that are more modernist than orthodox. They refuse to let the Great Tradition (the Catholic-Protestant-Orthodox consensus which C.S. Lewis dubbed “mere Christianity”) ever trump an individual’s interpretation of Scripture. This is what can be called nuda scriptura—the idea that the Bible is self-interpreting, needing only the Christian individual to make sense of it. In contrast, Martin Luther’s sola scriptura used the great creeds to fight for the primacy of Scripture over late medieval tradition….
The post-conservative view of tradition and scripture, in which Scripture is self-interpreting (Olson’s view), raises new questions. If we can overrule tradition because of Scripture, but the words of Scripture are neither the Word of God nor inspired, then how do we decide which concepts behind the words are the Word? And who decides? If the biblical authors were culturally-conditioned, and the Great Tradition is culturally conditioned all the more, what prevents the post-conservative theologian from being just another culture-bound interpreter? Are we really free to say that the Apostles’ and Nicene Creeds never get a veto? Or the Chalcedonian consensus? Or that the development of the Trinitarian doctrines was only man-made and not guided by the Holy Spirit?
That modern culture is indeed guiding the biblical interpretation of post-conservative Evangelicals is apparent when we survey their recent pronouncements…. -
Now I know what to call some of that Evangelical stuff…
nuda scriptura. -
If we can overrule tradition because of Scripture,
but the words of Scripture are neither the Word of God nor inspired, then how do we decide which concepts behind the words are the Word? The traditionalists assume that their traditions are absolutely correct. What do you do when Scripture clearly negates tradition? Example #1: Sunday worship instead of The Sabbath, I defy anyone here to show me in the Scriptures where the day of worship will ever change. Does man (Constantine) have the authority to change HIS WORD? I say no. Just because Constantine instituted the tradition (and enforced it with the death penalty) does not make it Scripturally correct.
Example #2: Matt 5:17-21 states that nothing will change from the Law or the Prophets until ALL IS ACCOMPLISHED Have we had THE battle of Armegeddon yet? Has the entire House of Israel been re-gathered into Israel yet (Judah and Levi is there but what about the other 10 tribes that were scattered later to be regathered) yet? Are Heaven and Earth still in their respective places and in existence? Has The antichrist been revealed yet? Has anyone been forced to take the mark of the beast on the right hand or forehead yet? Has The Temple been rebuilt only to be defiled again yet? Has MESSIAH RETURNED YET?
The answer to all these questions is clearly NO, therefore the passage in Matt states in Messiah’s own words that the Law still applies today but the tradition states otherwise. So who are you going to believe, tradition or what Scripture actually states? -

I know this is a waste of time but I’m bored.
I defy anyone here to show me in the Scriptures where the day of worship will ever change.
This falls into the same category as Old Law/New Law, dietary restrictions, and circumcision, and we’ve been down that road too many times so this is the first and last thing I’ll say on the matter.
The Christian community, even during the times when the Books of the New Testament were written, worshiped on the Lord’s Day, Sunday. Jesus himself didn’t follow the Old Law when it came to the Sabbath. On the first day of the week when we gathered to break bread, Paul spoke to them because he was going to leave on the next day, and he kept on speaking until midnight. — Acts 20:7
Let no one, then, pass judgment on you in matters of food and drink or with regard to a festival or new moon or sabbath. These are shadows of things to come; the reality belongs to Christ. — Colossians 2:16
Now that day was a Sabbath. So the Jews said to the man who had been cured, ‘It is the Sabbath; it is not lawful for you to carry your mat.’ But he answered them, ‘The man who made me well said to me, ‘Take up your matt and walk.’ — John 5:10-11
If it’s good enough for Jesus and the Apostles it’s good enough for me.

HEADLINE: U.S. debt jumps a record $328 billion — tops $17 trillion for first time
U.S. debt jumped a record $328 billion on Thursday, the first day the federal government was able to borrow money under the deal President Obama and Congress sealed this week.
The debt now equals $17.075 trillion, according to figures the Treasury Department posted online on Friday.
The $328 billion increase shattered the previous high of $238 billion set two years ago.
The giant jump comes because the government was replenishing its stock of “extraordinary measures” — the federal funds it borrowed from over the last five months as it tried to avoid bumping into the debt ceiling.
Under the law, that replenishing happens as soon as there is new debt space.
In this case, the Treasury Department borrowed $400 billion from other funds beginning in May, awaiting a final deal from Congress and Mr. Obama. So, to put it in real terms, we passed the Established Debt Ceiling months ago, but the feds were fudging the books to cover it up. Will the lawlessness never end? At this rate, the debt will be at $20,000,000,000,000 long before the fraud in chief is scheduled to leave office.
That slimey SOB railed on Boooosh for $300 billion deficits and he has yet to have one under 1 Trillion. What a POS!

What would really satisfy us would be a God who said of anything we happened to like, ‘What does it matter so long as they are contented?’ We want, in fact, not so much a Father in Heaven as a grandfather in heaven — a senile benevolence who, as they say, ‘liked to see young people enjoying themselves’ and whose plan for the universe was simply that it might be truly said at the end of each day, ‘a good time was had by all.’ — C. S. Lewis

I’m seeing more and more where people are figuring out that Obamacare was purposely set up to fail, so that the feds can later step in and become that single payer, thereby fully socializing the healthcare system here as they intended from the outset.

I saw poor Juan the Bewildered say that as well as several other inane things. Loved the expression on Dr. Krauthammer’s face when he tried to correct Juan’s errors. (And at the time he was Dr. Krauthammer, not merely a commentator.) Same for Brett Baier’s expression of disbelief.
The world according to Juan: The website is royally screwed up and unworkable, but the policy and planning for 3 years that birthed it is perfectly ok. Dear Lord, logic flees any association with that man. Has he been anywhere near Queen Sheila lately?
Is it catching? -
Adde, I’ve been watching Juan Williams for some time now and I used to think that he was pretty smart just misguided. Now I’m not so sure, after Obama got elected he was in the tank for him, not unexpected BTW, but way after it became painfully obvious to ANYONE that was paying attention, that Obama was in waay over his head, Juan just seemed to loose his mind! That said, I don’t know if it’s just the blind admiration he has for the President or if he just doesn’t have a clue……Very Very Sad!
-
Another thing about Juan Williams was that he was fired by PBS because he spoke the truth about some sort of politically correct item, I don’t remember what it was, so you’d think that he might break away form the ideas of the lame-stream media, but I guess not. Like I said , SAD!
-
juan Williams is a hard core lefty who was protected from reality because of his race and because of his PC job – working for PBS. When he dared to stray from the liberal orthodoxy and actually use his brain and think – he wound up committing the unpardonable sin and spoke the truth; which was of course not according to the party line and he was summarily dismissed. He ain’t that bright, otherwise he would not be the LTN he demonstrates every wissin day.
-
Super Dave, I also recall his ridiculous firing from NPR and subsequent hiring by FNC as a commentator. He seems to be a very nice gentleman, and I understand his son is a conservative. That must make for really interesting dinnertime conversations.
Perhaps deep down he recognizes the Obama dream is falling apart in numerous areas, and he’s trying to put fingers in the dike…no matter how odd the justifications. Sad describes it. -

#70 Phil, That is of course true, I didn’t mention it for the same reason I never said anything about one of my guys at work that went almost 2 weeks without pay because he had no vacation and was complaining about the government shut-down,….I’ll let you do the math! FWIW; He is a good Christian man with kids and a hard worker that can’t stand the welfare program and how it has hurt his people…..BUTT,….Guess What? And how many times?…..Sigh!

I use LibreOffice and have used Open Office. A little less intuitive than the MS software, but for what I do, I’ll manage. I need to be able to use QuickBooks, so I’ll probably WINE a lot.
The first time I took the Linux Distro test, it came up SUSELinux.
I’ve never partitioned a drive before, I’m a little nervous about that. -
I went to the QuickBooks user site, and looked up Linux. I found this response:

I have until April to upgrade or for Intuit to provide a system that works…

Wow, what an effort to free the moose. It appeared to be a young adult but not full adult size and fully capable of delivering a mighty wallop with either end. Poor thing must have been close to total exhaustion, and the rescuer also was likely nearing exhaustion from the stress of trying to free it.
Mere serfs are likely not allowed to shoot the King’s moose even if they are on your property.
