Monday “Honor the Prez” Open Comments

Another example of politics over common sense, this time in Detroit. Detroit is running out of money, in large part because of pensions negotiated by the unions, who care more about their survival than the survivial of the city. If they fail to keep their pensions intact, how will this reflect on the union bosses, and how will it affect union membership? More importantly, how will their intractability on the issue affect their image nationwide? To continue to survive, they must expand their membership base. If they succeed in holding the pensions intact but bankrupt the city, will they be seen as arrogant and cold-hearted, or will it be a positive for future members?
And then there’s the ever-lovin’ nonsense that issues from the mouth of the judge involved:

“It’s cheating, sir, and it’s cheating good people who work,” the judge told assistant state Attorney General Brian Devlin. “It’s also not honoring the (United States) president, who took (Detroit’s auto companies) out of bankruptcy.”

REALLY??? We’re now basing legal and financial decisions on whether they honor the Great Leader and Savior Barak Obama???

Twitchy
has some responses to this idiocy:

Something tells me a federal bankruptcy judge will be less than impressed with the excuse “it doesn’t honor the president”.

You don’t really expect me to believe this, do you?
The official said federal authorities are finding new evidence they say indicates intent to commit fraud over the packaging and sale of mortgage bonds backed by subprime home loans in some of the civil lawsuits plaintiffs’ lawyers have filed against large banks.
And they are exploring whether they can build criminal cases against bankers by using a 1984 law intended to punish individuals for scamming commercial banks.
    No, really? Evidence of fraud?
What — like perhaps emails in which banks called the securities “vomit”, “dog crap” and other quite-accurately-descriptive names?
Let me guess — that wasn’t in the prospectus.
Is that fraud? Gee, let me think about that for a minute….

    AND

I’ll believe there will be prosecutions when I actually see them.
Oh, and if you want to know why I’m not writing a 20-page article on this?
That’s because I already have more times than I can count.

And the president is just NOW going on a several week spree of how the economy needs to be addressed? Why was he not doing this LAST week or even sooner instead of butting his nose into the Zimmerman case and about race?

I also heard yesterday that about 80% of the crimes in just Florida are black on black…which the media doesn’t address in this time.
    36% result in homicide…
and 18% of those are people in poverty level situations.

Grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr ( I actually PRAY that I’m posting inaccurate stuff here)
ALL THE UPROAR ABOUT TRAVON MARTIN, HOW COME THE NEWS, THE NAACP AND ALL OTHER PROTESTORS DON’T RAISE HELL ABOUT THIS CHILD BEING KILLED BY A BLACK TEENAGER FOR A FEW DOLLARS ???????????????????

You won’t recognize me. My name was Antonio .West and I was the 13-month old child who was shot at point blank range by two
black teens who were attempting to rob my mother, who was also shot. A Grand Jury of my mommy’s peers from Brunswick GA
determined the teens who murdered me will not face the death penalty…too bad I was given a death sentence for being innocent and
    defenseless.
My family made the mistake of being white in a 73%. non-white neighborhood, but my murder was not ruled a Hate Crime. Nor did
President Obama, Eric Holder or the Justice Dept take so much as a single moment to acknowledge my murder.
I am one of the youngest murder victims. in our great Nation’s history, but the media doesn’t care to cover the story of my tragic demise,
President Obama has no children who could possibly look like me – so he doesn’t care and the media doesn’t care because my story is
not interesting enough to bring them ratings so they can sell commercial time slots.
There is not a white equivalent of Al Sharpton because if there was he would be declared racist, so there is no one rushing to Brunswick
GA to demand justice for me. There is no White Panther party to put a bounty on the lives of those who murdered me. I have no voice, I
have no representation and unlike those who shot me in the face while I sat innocently in my stroller – I no longer have my life..
So while you are seeking justice for Treyvon, please remember to seek justice for me too. Tell your friends about me, tell you families,
get tee shirts with my face on them and make the world pay attention, just like you did for. Treyvon.
    Thank you.

Good afternoon Hamsters. Well, back to the ravages of Summer heat and slight rain chances. At least there’s a brisk breeze and much lower humidity for comfort. Of course that accelerates drying out what moisture we got last week, something like 0.55″ total.
From what I saw on Ch. 11’s news yesterday, the River Oaks “marching bands” on both sides were not all that big. Understand the most agitation happened when the Move On/Occupy Wall Street types horned in on Q10’s posse as leaders of the Trayvon protest parade. The interlopers dared to move ahead of Q10 and appeared to be in charge, according to Edd Hendee this morning. Amusing indeed. The mounted Houston officers who were chaperoning the whole scene must have been amused too. Unofficially of course. The Zimmerman support group seemed to keep to their side of the street and remain civilized, as we would expect. Houston did not embarrass itself, which likely sadly can’t be said for other parts of the country.
So realistically, the TV reporters did not have much to report. 🙂

    Texas Solution To Unlicensed Uninsureed
This protects you and you family and friends from being hit by one of these drivers. Maybe killed and suck with the bill>
    You Gotta Love Texas….
** The City of Dallas, Texas passed an ordinance stating that if a driver is pulled over by law enforcement and is not able to provide proof of insurance, the car is towed. To retrieve the car after being impounded, they must show proof of insurance to have the car released. This has made it easy for the City of Dallas to remove uninsured cars.**
** Shortly after the “No Insurance” ordinance was passed, the Dallas impound lots began to fill up and were full after only nine days. Over 80% of the impounded cars were driven by illegals.**
** Now, not only must they provide proof of insurance to have their car released, they have to pay for the cost of the tow, a $350 fine, and $20 for every day their car is kept in the lot.**
** Guess what? Accident rates have gone down 47% and… Dallas’ solution gets uninsured drivers off the road WITHOUT making them show proof of nationality.
I Wonder how the Justice Department will get around this one.**
Just brings tears to your eyes doesn’t it?
GO Dallas! AMEN TO THAT! I can’t stop smiling!

I would add that if the car is not redeemed in 90 days it becomes property of the county, to be sold at auction with the proceeds going to pay the fines and fees accrued. To what should the balance be earmarked?

Another example of cop ego run amuck. These guys are trash. This could have all been resolved by a simple explanation and a pair of listening ears. The post office employee didn’t have to over react, the cops could have simply asked the mother what was going on, and the little girls admonished not to throw rocks down the mail slot.
Instead, the PO employee acted like her royal fiefdom was under siege, the cops treated an innocent woman like a common criminal, and two little girls now know that cops are bad people.

I’m averaging 30 hits a day on the blog now. Not much by most blog standards, but enough for some cottage manufacturers to start taking notice. Just before I left for the trip I was contacted by this guy who asked me if I would review his product. I agreed and received the unit the day I left. As long as I keep reviewing products, I expect to see more of the same from guys trying to pay for their camping equipment out of thier garage.

I’m using spinal decompression therapy (inversion table) for now. It’s worked for some people, eliminating the need for surgery. The first week of my injury, I tried to hang twice but it was really uncomfortable to get straight on the board before flipping over, and that’s why I stopped. With the pain meds, I can get into position without a problem. I got permission day before yesterday to try it out. I’m shooting for four sessions a day, about 5-10 minutes each. That’s a little longer than usual, but it doesn’t bother me to hang upside down that long, and I want to give the disc enough time to be sucked back into place.
I was told to check in today, and I called, but I haven’t gotten a callback from the doc’s office yet. I guess they figger I’m doing okay if I’m not dragging in with a limp leg dangling behind me. I’m sure they’re swamped, this being a Monday and all. They probably want to give me more time to deflate all the inflamed tissue. I’m happy because it gives me more time to hang and try to treat myself out of a surgery. The lady who does my books at the CPA’s office said her daughter-in-law used SDT for similar problems and didn’t have to have surgery. I’m hoping, hoping, hoping….

Agreeing with fellow MSNBC host Melissa Harris-Perry, Ed Schultz claimed that Detroit had filed for bankruptcy because the city had a government that was just too small. On Saturday, Schultz argued “Republican policies” led Detroit to become a “conservative utopia.”
Harris-Perry last week said what is happening in Detroit occurs “when government is small enough to drown in your bathtub.”
“Detroit, Michigan, used to be really a symbol of industrial strength and manufacturing in this country. But, thanks to a lot of Republican policies, the city is now filing for bankruptcy,” Schultz said over the weekend.
