Yet the Washington establishment wants to put Snowden in jail and throw away the key for telling the truth. We are told to blindly respect an institution that persecutes whistleblowers for leaks of over classified government information while watching the Obama administration’s leaking of secret government information to aggrandize the president during his reelection campaign. So, please tell us more about how we should have more respect for our institutions.

Should we forget about the THOUSANDS of confidential FBI files that were ILLEGALLY obtained by the Clinton admin and NO ONE went to jail over the act. There was no penalty because of Ds control of the LSM. Scooter Libby was hounded relentlessly about the Valerie Plame leak, when the
prosecutorpersecutor KNEW who the leaker was, if this is not blatant abuse of power and entrapment, then what is? The flagrant abuses of the citizenry and defiling of the Constitution by Ds is legendary, and the LSM stands right beside them.
I guess the Socialists/Commie/Fascist/Nazi/Stazi/Democrat were playing the long game when they first infested the LSM, then the educational institutions all the way down to elementary school; when they dumbed down enough of the population the take over would be much easier. -
The whole NSA snooping thing may or may not be Constitutional; that will likely be up to the courts.
My problem with it is the lack of any sort of accountability that will provide for remedies when the line (wherever it may be) is crossed. My other problems relate to the unnecessary secrecy regarding the program. Many aspects of the program could (and should) have been revealed voluntarily a long time ago without jeopardizing its effectiveness. Further, if it weren’t for all the other “activities” that have recently and not so recently come to light, the NSA thing would be less troublesome. George Will, who can be a bit of a squish at times, points this aspect out quite well.
Coupled together, these revelations are starting to scare the bejeebers out of people who generally don’t pay a whole lot of attention.
The worst part (or best, depending on POV) is that great swaths of the country are losing their faith that the government is working for them or at least not working against them. -

How does it show courage to fly a helicopter above a riot or to follow a slow speed car chase? Those are all basic helocopter pilot skills, so how izzit courageous? The thing is a wissin fruitcake and belongs in an institution, or San Fransisco. -

This entire immigration crisis could be fixed by simply following the laws on the books. Not even a single word of new legislation is needed; why should we allow still more laws to be passed when the ones on the books are only selectively enforced if at all?

Good rejoinder. Can always whip out one of the early misunderstandings of inheritance when the gene was not yet or only hazily understood, pre-Medelian casting for answers.
Some investigators thought that inheritance could be altered by deliberately changing a parental physical characteristic and thus offspring would have the changed characteristic.
So it was tried by docking dog tails and expecting subsequent pups to be born with short tails. Well, that didn’t work, and the pups were born with tails the normal length for the breed. Bringing this up would likely send sex change proponents into fit of rage or something, but it sure would be fun to see. 🙂 -

Got a hand-written letter from an old friend/coworker from my Austin/US Geological Survey days. She is 15 years older than me. Her letter is full of complaints about poor memory, low energy, sleep too much, get little done. She’s convinced it’s dementia. Even if it is, she’s in a safe environment on 300 acres outside town, with family living in the farmhouse with her, as well as in other houses built on their land.
What cracks me up is I have many of the same complaints, but I am dead sure there is no mental defect in my case. I’m sure the denizens of Hamsterville will let me know if they sense any waning. Now remember that just because I don’t always get the jokes doesn’t mean I have Alzheimer’s. -

Well I spent the last two days at the Ft. Bend County Fair Grounds at a Cub Scout tri-district camp. I volunteered as a BB gun range officer. It was an all around great experience. The best part is that no one got hurt. Hopefully the yutes that were introduced for the first time will walk away with a new interest in the shooting sports.
The worst part were the ones that just did not want to listen to my advice. I realy feel bad for the once that are right handed, but are left eye dominant or vice versa. I also feel bad for the onces that are a decent shot, but have a very poor form. I told several that they will not be happy when they move up to a .22 or a shotgun.
All in all they probably shot about 15,000 rounds a day for 4 days. Thank goodness there is not a BB shortage! The whole experience has re-awakened my love for air rifles. I can see a 1,000 fps air rifle in my future. 🙂 -
Well, is everybody prepared for Fathers Day weekend? Rain appears to be sneaking into the forecast for tomorrow and not so much on Sunday. Some tomorrow would be welcome in the baking heat that’s descended upon us the past few days.
Spouse has spent much of the day disposing of the burn pile in the side pasture, and of course the heaps of recently soaked leaves harvested from the live oaks in spring made a smudgy nuisance to the neighborhood depending on wind direction. That seems to be well under control overnight and perhaps will not annoy anyone tomorrow. Had to take advantage of the moisture in the ground and grass and relatively calm breeze this morning before the pile got too large and provided shelter for all sorts of critters we’d as soon not have around.
