Okay, door’s open. I had my class last night and wasn’t feeling well, so I didn’t check for a thread for today.
I’ll go make some tea and feed the cat. Make yourselves at home.

GJT,
Just FYI, if you were unaware…
With an iPhone, on most websites, if you touch the bar at the top of the screen (the one with the clock), it will “quick scroll” you to the top of the web page. -
I am glad I do not have to venture down to the med center on a regular basis. The traffic was no bueno.
-
I heard there was a wreck on the “guf” freeway this am and it was taking something like 2 1/2 hours to go from Nasa 1 to downtown. I am very blessed to be able to live in Glorious Copperfield, so I rarely have to even think about the traffic on I-45. More blessings than I can count really, living in Copperfield is just one of many.

Well this certainly answers a few questions:
Why are there so many crazy people? There, the parasites exert control over the two officers, bending their minds to the will of the renegades.
To the best of our knowledge, insidious parasites like these only exist in science fiction. However, there is an organism on Earth — a single-celled protozoan to be specific — that bears a striking resemblance. And alarmingly, it may infest as much as a third of humanity…Why are the French even crazier than average?
(including 45% of the French)!
And why is there a special kind of crazy among Crazy Cat Ladies?
That parasite is Toxoplasma gondii. Commonly found in domestic cats, it sexually reproduces only within feline intestines. Humans can contract the parasite by ingesting anything contaminated with cat feces. Once infected, individuals may succumb to mild, flu-like symptoms for a couple weeks, but little more. Often no symptoms manifest at all. The parasite’s apparent harmless nature cloaks its presence. Soon after finding its way into a human host, it weasels its way into the brain. There, “sheltered from the full fury of the immune system,” it can remain in what’s called a tissue cyst for decades, not reproducing, just persisting. But in this form, researchers are finding that it can produce some subtle and startling changes in the host’s behavior.

Good morning, Hamsterville. I love my commute: roll out of bed, commute to the breakfast table, turn on laptop, start logging billable time.
Of course it’s a little more complex than that, includes feed the cats, start boiling water for instant Maxwell House, pitch out some seeds for the birds, check personal email and whether Hamsterville is on the air yet… -
Simple, if you are browsing through today: did you see the item yesterday about the rescue dog and the autistic boy whose family adopted it? I was wondering if your granddaughter has a pet. I don’t remember if you have ever mentioned that or not.
-
includes feed the cats..
O, that way madness lies; let me shun that; No more of that.
-
start boiling water for instant Maxwell House
Why drink instant when you can make the real thing since you are home?

Mom always said “if you don’t have anything nice to say..”
So, I won’t bring up my ex and her cat. -
#9 TexMo: That was the first question I had as well.
-
Good morning Hamsters. Beginning to get windy, and overcast has moved in. Can’t see anything on the radar that looks promising. Did check the hazardous weather alerts on the weather service site and was amazed to see there’s a for real blizzard in SE Minnesota making its way into west central Wisconsin today. It’s the typical late winter very wet, heavy snow blizzard that makes shoveling a lot of exhausting work and endangers roofs and tree limbs with its weight. Then there’s the melting that can lead to flooding. Some areas are expected to have up to 14″ before it moves on. Gad.
-
Mom was for years addicted to Taster’s Choice instant coffee.
Nasty stuff. -
#12 Ms Adee: Poor blasted northerners who keep electing socialists and incompetents to congress, I guess a little payback is coming their way.
I will try to hide my shadenfruede or however the wiss one spells that word. -

I knew one of you gourmets/purists would have to criticise the instant coffee. 🙂 I only drink one cup in the morning. David does not drink coffee at all. So even if I wanted “the real thing”, it would not be very efficient to brew one cuppa, would it? In fact, I’ve been quite happily drinking instant Maxwell House for about 40 years and not going to change now. -

I’ve been aware of the litterbox parasite for about 40 years too. Don’t think I have it. But I might. Mrawwwrrr! -
I intended to post this a while back, but it was late in the evening. Fox News interview with a soldier regarding Benghazi:
http://newsninja2012.com/special-operator-speaks-out-obama-admin-could-have-helped-us-consulate-in-benghaze-chose-not-to/#axzz2RxcD8V9U -
Last night we made chicken lasagna and I made the cream sauce. I started with 2 quarts of heavy cream and added 2.5 lbs sour cream and 4 little tubs of Med. herb and garlic flavored feta cheese, about 4 tbs minced garlic, some cayenne pepper and garlic salt, and about 1 tsp of dry mustard. Once everything was all incorporated and reduced a bit we layered uncooked noodles, de-boned chicken, cheddar jack cheese, fresh spinach and then the cream sauce, next layer used fresh kale instead of spinach and topped the whole thing with mozzarella.
This was my first attempt at a cream sauce and chicken lasagna. Pretty darned tasty ifn I do say so myself. -
A litterbox is also a grand place to catch impetigo,
-
Looking at the radar, and it is becoming increasing likely that we may not see much rain at all from this latest weather event.

John Williams over at American Business Analytics & Research LLC publishes the Shadow Government Statistics website where he sorts out the BS and explains what the regular government economic press releases really mean.
Great resource I meant to post here a while back and forgot. I was reminded by David P. Goldman aka Spengler in his truly excellent piece for PJMedia. Here’s a simple example. Suppose you and a partner jointly invested $100,000 in a business that earns $10,000 a year. You each have $50,000 in capital, and take out $5,000, for a return of 10% a year. If Ben Bernanke will lend you money at 3% to buy out your partner, you will now make $10,000 on your capital of $5,000, minus the interest expense (3% of $50,000, or $1,500). You earn $8,500 net on a $50,000 investment, or a 17% rate of return.
You would do that trade all day if you could. Thanks to the Fed, large U.S. companies can, and do. The cost of BBB-rated bonds (the average credit rating of the S&P 500) is at an all-time low of 3%. And the average return on investment for the S&P 500 is around 11%. The actual numbers are not much different from the example I just gave. -
6 mharper42,
I had seen the article in another source and “the dog question” is a hot subject
right now in the Simple household.
Angel loves animals of every kind and this includes insects. She is truly an angel with
animals. My father-in-law has a 4 month old Black Labrador and that dog will spot the Simplemobile from a distance and he will search the vehicle looking for his playmate.
I have been wanting to get her a Jack Russel Terrier, but my better half is opposed to the idea and her arguments are not without some merit. I have had Labradors and I have wanted a Bovier des Flanders, but both dogs require a lot or running space.
Check out the breeder-kennel that I located on the web for JRTs.
Regards

Jack Russel Terriers -
It’s dropped 10 degrees in the last 20 minutes, up here.
-
Simple, is Mrs S opposed to any dog, or just to a terrier? You may have seen recent coverage of city people somewhere, maybe NYC or NJ, having neighborhood rat hunts with their terriers. I noted the following in your breeder link:
3.) Accept nothing less than producing a sane terrier. One you can trust with children and cats.
I would think a golden retriever or maybe a collie would be a good big dog for a child.
-

No, she is opposed to a dog in general. Our biggest concern is that we will have to take care of the dog once Angel gets older and goes off to school. She is quite smart, but quirky like most ASD afflicted folks. There is a private college that specializes in teaching kids like Angel and it is a forgone conclusion that she will go there.
We are getting old and worry about who will take care of a old pet once we are not around or having difficulty taking care of ourselves. It is a stupid concern, but we have some experience in this area.
I think the upsides of having the dog outweigh all other concerns, besides a road trip to Maine to pick up the puppy…..woohoo!!!

What is Slow Joe talking about now? /smh
Biden also made comments about women coming of age:
He spoke of the wonders of having granddaughters: “All you women out there: Daughters are wonderful. Granddaughters are betters.” He lamented, though, that they grow up.
“When they’re 12 to 14, a dad puts his beautiful little daughter to bed. And then the next morning, there’s a snake in the bed.” -
We’ve gotten lab mixes from the pound for the two dogs we had. Great dogs. One was a pointer mix, and I actually saw it point – once – the first day we brought it home. We got the second dog when I became pregnant with Lovely. They became great companions for each other, though they didn’t play together or hang out together as much as we thought they would. I didn’t realize how close they had become until the first dog stayed on top of the second dog’s grave for 3 days. Broke my heart, that did.
When we went to get the second dog, we brought dog #1 with us, to make sure they’d get along. I was surprised by the surprise of the workers at the pound that we had done that. They said it was a good idea, but I guess not many people think to do that. We knew they’d get along as soon as we took the leashes off – they took off running and chasing each other in the play yard. -
And I repeat –
Biden is the best life insurance Barack Obama has. -
I need a dog that hates cats. Tired of dealing with the feces of my neighbor’s 50 cats.
-
#30 – 50 cats no joke? *shudder*
My Dearly departed Pop (God restim) would have a field day with his bb gun -
Simple, you can get older dogs from shelters or rescue groups right here in the Houston metro area. MCAS is a great shelter and they do an excellent job of publishing the pix and stats on their pets, including notes on the critters that get along well with children.
http://www.mcaspets.org/
I totally connect with your concern about your own age. I was interested in some rescued cats the last year or so, but as they were kittens I could not in good conscience adopt a pet that I can’t expect to take care of for the rest of its expected indoor kitty lifespan of 15-18 years. We may adopt a few older rescued cats after we lose our current pair of 15-year-old girls. Don’t want to do that now because any new cat in the house will be a bummer for the old girls. -
“When they’re 12 to 14, a dad puts his beautiful little daughter to bed. And then the next morning, there’s a snake in the bed.”
I’ve heard mothers of daughters say the same thing.

Glenn Beck is teaming up with a Hollywood producer to generate non-lefty materials.
Like him or not, this is something that I think is praiseworthy. He’s right – the left has taken over the cinematic media output, and we need to put out materials that celebrate morality and conservatism. At least it will be available. We can’t force a horse to drink, but we can certainly lead it to water. If it can be shown that there’s another side to the story, maybe we can at least show that the left-wing is not as monolithic as they proclaim themselves to be. -
“someone took my sweet little girl and left Linda Blair in her place”
-
Katfish, what would your pop have done with the remains? Or would he claim the cats were tresspassing?
-
50 cats no joke? *shudder*
50 is my shorthand for “a buttload”. For example, someone asks me repeatedly where something is I usually respond with “I’ve already told you. 50 times!”
In actuality he is probably responsible for at least 20 feral cats at any given time. Since old man Bains died (he kept them in check) they’ve gotten worse. -
#36 – not to kill – but to majorly “discourage” their presence where not desired
to my knowledge Pop never killed a wandering feline – he did “discourage” a bunch -
My Mama always told me once or a thousand times.

I would say I have a plethora of cats.

Bubba Timmy, you might go to the top to switch to the WAF thread… I’m just sayin’.

The orange kitty is getting more bold in demanding attention, especially about the ears. I stopped to pet him as I was waiting for someone to drop off a payment, and then the dang cat started running in front of me as I tried to walk off the porch. Dang near drop kicked the kitty across the street. The last thing I need is a cat tripping me as I’m trying to walk down our porch steps.

Agree with mharper42 on considering an adult shelter dog for adoption.
Also, Jack Russells can be perpetual motion machines into their teens. Several friends have had them and were amazed at how active they were, as in the owners wore out much sooner than the dogs did in daily activities. -

Oh no, isn’t that how OH1 broke her leg? BTW, have you heard anything from her as to how she is doing since she left? -
They musta ungrounded the Boeing Pintos.
One was parked at terminal C just now. -
OH2 hasn’t contact us at all since she left. I went by her mother’s house to drop off the rest of her belongings that got left behind in her rather disorganized exit, but she didn’t answer the door. I tried calling her several times, but as per usual, she didn’t answer her phone. I finally had to mail her the last paycheck. She did file for unemployment, but she also told the truth that she quit voluntarily to go to another job, so I doubt it’s going to go anywhere.
Speaking of filing for unemployment – a guy who worked for us months and months ago finally got around to filing. We’ll see what happens when the TWC gets my info that he walked off a job, leaving a load of asphalt waiting to be spread and the tools on the street. Hubby was there with the truck, but there was no way he could spread a full load of asphalt by himself, and he couldn’t leave the truck to get the backhoe. Fortunately, it was close by and I was able to babysit the truck while he got the backhoe and spread the asphalt before it set up in the back of the trailer. -
why do you ever need to go to the top of the page?
Uh……to review one of wagonburner’s intellectually stimulating posts???
No. Wouldn’t be that.
Stop laughing. -
Maybe not, but to look at his scandalous images one more time – priceless!

Some sites have multiple internal links at the top of the page. Sometimes I need to go to the top to copy the URL.
WAF rarely applies to me.

I just heard a radio ad for 100 rounds of .223 for $350.00.

#51 – at THAT price Brother Ya better leave the firing to Mrs Sha-Na-Na (aka eagle eyes)

I’ll go make some tea and feed the cat.
Tedtam feeds the cat tea? Either the cat is spoiled rotten or it’s British.

Speaking exclusively to Breitbart News, McCarthy said, “Our forefathers fought for a vision of a nation where the right to practice the faith of ones choosing was undeniable. Past attacks and threats to our country have targeted the fundamental principles of democracy, such as religious freedom. Recent reports of our own military relinquishing and punishing this right, especially to the very individuals giving the ultimate sacrifice serving our country, is wrong. I strongly encourage the Department of Defense to clarify their statement and policy on religious practice in the military.”
I’m sure the DoD will get right on a reply.

Adee and Mharper42,
My pick of the Jack Russell Terrier was based upon matching Angel’s personality
with the right dog. I wanted a small highly intelligent and very high energy dog.
The dog would have to be short hair as it would sleep in Angel’s room.
I looked at the kennel in the link because they came highly reccommended to by a good friend. Their price is high, but a well trained dog saves money in other areas; notably the damage they can do. My wife had a Shar-Pei that was a 80 pound furry termite. I am still fixing door trim and sills where that #$#%^$# dog decided to have a fit.
In any case, thanks for the advice. A road trip to Maine and Angel still sounds like woo-hoo! to me.
Simple -
The DoD clarified their position a couple of years ago.
While I do appreciate the need for coming up with things to pin on this Administration, this is not one of them and continuing to flog it will be to the detriment of Conservatism because its based on ignorance of the Military.
Hot Air explains it here.
Drew Musings expands here.
If they change the Regulations, then you have a concern, but what they are talking about is enforcing the current regs and they are the same now as when I was in 40 years ago, the same as when Audie Murphy charged a machine gun nest, and the same as when Sergeant York shot Germans like they were a row of turkeys.
You can speak about your faith, you can practice your faith, and you can worship any way you want and the military will provide you with a Chaplain for that purpose. All chaplains are trained to perform sacrements of all religions recognized by the Armed Forces, and all have been given dispensation from thier respective religions to do so.
What is against Regulation is using your position of authority for any purpose other than being a soldier. That’s the way is should be and that’s because lives are on the line. It is just as much against the Regs to compel someone to buy or sell Amway products as it is to prosetelyze for your religion. Its the same for Christians, Muslims, Jews, Buddhists, and Wiccans.
The only thing that I’m pizztoff about is that Mikey Weinstien is involved in any way. The man is a Bigot’s bigot. But he’s not involved in making policy and he’s not on the government payroll. He was invited to give his odious input is all—just as individuals from other religions. -
Tedtam #34;
I laughed a bit when I saw that title on The blaze cuz I thought about how there’s truth in Mormon’s running in packs. Gerald Molen is LDS and the reason I knew that was because the last history class I took at BYU was an advanced class called Germany Under Hitler. Our professor was very knowledgable about the Holocaust and so we naturally brought up Schindler’s List. Our professor then spoke of the co-director (whose name I did not remember until The Blaze article) and how he, who was LDS, came to BYU to help assist film major students. Our professor said Molen voiced open objection to Schindler’s list bed scene nude shots (not the rounding up the Jews’ shot which is historically accurate and quite relevant to the film’s story) but his objection was overturned by Spielberg himself. I got a great impression about Molen at that time so I was very happy to learn of this recent team up. I agree it’s praise worthy. Hope it goes well.

That’s true but the inclusion of Weinstein in the discussion justifiably brings people concern (as it does yourself). You can say that Weinstein views authority as a means to supress Christians who seem to him as natural tyrants.
-
WB, you just missed the excitement. Chucklehead walks into IAH (with the proverbial “military style” rifle) and tries suicide by cop.

Bumbling cop misses so chucklehead pulls out a pistol and offs himself.

Bet he had cats 😉

If it were limited to expressions of concern about a bigot being involved, then I’d have no problem. Its a fair criticism and would be most effective if limited to that. But that’s not how its being presented and all that does is make people look like a bunch of ignorant asses screaming their heads off about nothing at all.
Please people, when it comes to the military most of you are working from a position of ignorance. Ask questions before you start shouting. -

WHY!?

Dang. Had to turn the heater on in the truck.
Cold ankles. -
Luckily we’ve got Vic Morrow (as “The Sarge”) here to straighten out us ignant civvys.

Man, that goes all the way back to the “Hazel” era. -
I watched an impressive expansion go up at Blue Bell Creameries this last year. A local contractor told me today that the entire five story structure is a -32 degree freezer for palletized finished product.
Run by robots. -
Vic Morrow had dandruff.
How did they know?
They found his Head And Shoulders in the bushes. -
#69 – speakin of BlueBell (YUMMY) – I hear that “all you can EAT” BlueBell is available in Brenham Saturday at Maifest
Buy a band and eat all of the hand dipped Blue Bell Ice Cream you can eat all day!

Naw, he cleaned the litterbox for his grandma.
-
Check y’all later, I’ve got a civic meeting to attend tonight.
-
-32F?!? That’s COLD! I used to purchase ice cream in bulk from Southern Ice Cream in Stafford. I once asked them if I could walk into the freezer. This was a refrigerated warehouse that forklifts could easily go in & out of. They kept theirs at a balmy (by comparison) -25F. Going into that on a hot Houston summer day was always very refreshing…. for about 60 seconds.

WHY WEINSTEIN!?!?!?
By the way, Sarge, I like your moustache. It’s kinda cute. -
Bet he had cats
At least 50.

unwanted cats can be neutralized with anti-freeze laced canned tuna, just mix a little up and put it where they can access it. Not that I would ever think of doing such a thing.
I prefer a high powered pellet rifle behind the ear. -
We have a couple of customers that do work in grocers warehouses. I believe they usually have 0 degree freezers and -32 degree. It is nice to come in out of the sun for just a bit but unfortunately there is usually something broke down in there which is why I’m there, and it gets coooold let me tell you. Then back and forth to the truck in the heat. Those machines stay in there and get frozen solid, it’s amazing they can operate in those conditions – batteries, motors, hydraulics, etc.
-
Or you bring a machine out of the freezer to work on it and it drips cold water all over you as it thaws.
-
Damn. The “progressives” just can’t catch a break. They just can’t seem to get the angry white teabagger to play along.

I just realized that Hammy’s link is the airport suicidal shooter!
