Tuesday Devil Man Open Comments

Running late. I have a standing Monday night thing I go to, so from early Monday afternoon on, I’m pretty booked and I didn’t see the lack of a thread today.
So, here ya’ go.
From yesterday’s news – Does Satan look like Obama? I saw the story (even before it was posted yesterday), and I couldn’t help but chuckle. Sometimes karma just takes big ol’ bite outta your hindside.

Mohamen Mehdi Ouazanni is the actor who plays “Satan” on the popular show, but it took make up and “other production tricks” to make him appear more like the President
This is what he looks like when he’s not playing Obama’s less evil brother:

The response from the producers of the show?

The popular U.S. TV miniseries “The Bible” has plunged into controversy over what some viewers see as a physical resemblance between an actor playing Satan and President Barack Obama, but producers on Monday dismissed any likeness as coincidental.

Coincidental, hell. I think it was inevitable.

The weather is spectacular outside right now, even if you have to wear a suit and tie, it is worth the trip to simply go outside for as long as you can get away with.

Obama doesn’t look like Satan. He is Satan. Oops, can I still say that in the land of the free?

New Office Help is working out fine. He’s still so much quieter than Old Office Help, and that’s an adjustment for me. But on his first day, he caught something that slipped by me on a permit issue. I haven’t done permits in a long time, so I’m a little rusty. Given all that he was trying to learn yesterday, I was impressed that he caught that item. It wasn’t something that just jumped out from the page – he had to put two and two together.

#8 Katfish: I heard on the radio this am that the real unseen (by most) problem is the house of cards that is the $400 TRILLION global CDO bubble. The CDOs are collateralized default obligations, essentially an insurance policy bought to cover losses of default. The net GDP of the world is around $60 trillion, according to the story this am. The problem is that, if I am correct, there is a whole lot of cross trading in the $400T above and when one starts to go south it could bring the entire global CDO scheme to rubble.

    Good to know.
    Drowning doesn’t look like drowning.

I almost drowned in a pool full of people. Fortunately, the lifeguard got to me. And yes, I was literally climbing up the back of a nearby swimmer to get to the surface. Looking back, I’m glad I didn’t cause someone else to drown.
The article is right – your body just takes over, and there’s no screaming, no waving, just the drop below the surface.
Of all the ways to die, for me, drowning is right up there with burning alive and being eaten by a wild animal.

I just found out that Old Office Help has lost her new job because of her broken leg.
If you know of anyone with a position for someone who’s smart and capable, but can be flexible for someone with a less than stellar record of arriving on time, she’ll need a job. Seriously, getting her into the office was a challenge some days, but when she got here, she kicked wiss in getting things done.

#13 – All you can do is hope for the best for former OH – that lack of “being on time” will be a sizable challenge for her – most employers will not care about performance if punctuality aint firmly in place………….

Homeowner Association Nazis take another one on the chIn…

AUSTIN, Texas (AP) — The Texas Legislature has guaranteed the right of landowners to install drought-resistant landscaping.
The Senate passed a bill Monday denying homeowners’ associations the power to ban landscaping designs intended to save water. The bill now goes to Gov. Rick Perry for his signature.

Ace has an excellent post up

Plenty of people will say that Romney was “forced on us” by “the establishment” and others reply “no he was elected by the party”. I agree with the latter. But people in that camp need to remember, in order to win Romney had to move right (so did McCain before him) on immigration. Now the party is saying, tough we can’t be there any more.
I think it’s fair to say that the GOP is “forcing” immigration reform on the party. Now, you can show me polls saying Republicans support immigration reform and amnesty but that’s not what they ran on. You can’t claim to have a mandate after you pull a bait and switch.
On same-sex marriage, Republicans who actually bother to vote in primaries and in most referendums have voted to protect the traditional definition of marriage. Yet now the party is saying, sorry, that’s gotta go.
Smaller government isn’t even a unifying theme anymore. Look at the Huckabee/Santorum social-con wing of the party. They aren’t for smaller government. Maybe those two will support less spending in some places but they clearly see a larger role for government in some areas of people’s lives.
Rand Paul called for eliminating the Department of Education in his CPAC speech, while Marco Rubio talked about reforming how federal dollars are spent.
Paul and Rubio are also great stand-ins for the foreign policy debate the GOP is having.
And we can go on and on.

When the top of the Party thinks and acts radically different that the base of the Party, its going to topple over under its own weight. That’s what a “base” does. The party cannot continue to exist with the Leadership telling everybody else to stuff it.

Gabriel Malor as posted a response to the above.

    Drew writes:

On same-sex marriage, Republicans who actually bother to vote in primaries and in most referendums have voted to protect the traditional definition of marriage. Yet now the party is saying, sorry, that’s gotta go.

What Priebus said was that the party wouldn’t kick out candidates who stray from that position. He also said the party wouldn’t kick out those who believe they’re defending marriage. The RNC’s statement is inclusive, rather than exclusionary.
Sen. Paul’s proposal to simply get government out of the marriage business was similar. And Sen. Rubio’s resort to the federalism defense — “let each state decide for itself” — was like-minded recognition that the issue is killing us with young voters. An astonishing 81 percent of 18-29 year-olds support gay marriage. Even 51 percent of Republicans that age support gay marriage. Maybe a little inclusiveness won’t hurt.

I was listening to Dennis Prager in the car a few minutes ago. I don’t know who he was talking to but he mentioned that in Obamacare there is a 3.8% surcharge on major assest sales over a certain price. Around 200 grand I think they said. So when you sell your house on top of all the other fees and capital gains you get hit with another 3.8%.

Good afternoon Hamsters. Wow what a delightful change from yesterday. Windows open, soft breeze wafting through several rooms, marvelous clear blue sky earlier now filling with high puffy clouds, 78 and comfortable.
So unlike the unseasonable chill gripping the upper Midwest and headed our way come Friday or so, which a conversation with a high-school chum in Madison yesterday confirmed. Snowfall of 4″ and counting when we spoke, on top of what was already there, wintry mix to move in by evening, then the cold was to settle in and drop the early morning temp to the teens. Arrgh. The St. Paddy’s Day blizzard did not disappiont this year. Several more days of January-like cold remain. No wonder folks get cabin fever this time of year.

Former OH broken leg? When did this happen?

FOH had applied for a job at a new grocery store chain, and was looking forward to more pay and benefits. In order to be on time and handle her little one, she arranged for what sounded like a very good day care for him, but ex-boyfriend went ballistic, causing her great anxiety. She wanted to leave for a while and calm down, and in her anger and anxiousness, she missed her footing outside the porch and broke her leg (and we found out later that she popped all the tendons on the outside of her right foot as well). I splinted it and her mother took her to the hospital. She’ll be operated on this coming Friday, but she’s lost her new job.
I guess the ex won after all. I recommended a support group for her, as ex is a bipolar drug addict, and she really needs how to keep him from living in her head and controlling her like he does. She is really trying to make progress in her life, and he’s the crab in the bucket, trying to pull her back down.

#24: The Corps has a response to The Sack O Crap from Nevada.

NBC’s Jim Miklaszewski reports: Now I can tell you, Marine Corps officials this afternoon are taking a strong exception to what Harry Reid implied. Saying that this this exercise, for example, was planned well in advance, had nothing to do with the budget cuts. There were no corners cut, and if they couldn’t afford to have all the safety precautions into place, they wouldn’t do the exercise.

And in fact, one Marine Corps official told us a short time ago that he considers this nothing but pure political posturing on the backs of these dead Marines.

Well given that all sorts of Bickersons are bickering all over the GOP playground these days, guess we conservatives should just keep on doing what we’ve been doing, stepping over the wounded and comatose where necessary. 🙂 And of course we support the real conservatives in their quest to bring order out of the Obama chaos before we all plunge into the abyss. Getting so you can’t tell the contestants any more without a program. Too many of them at once.
So DiFi got her assault weapons list of forbidden guns bill trashed by her own party. How lovely. Maybe Harry Reid decided he couldn’t match Ted Cruz in debate on the subject and decided to put it in the deepfreeze before he got snookered into one. It would be far more comical if it weren’t so serious.
