It’s 5:00 am, and I’m about to head out with Hubby to do something with Lovely and Aggie Beau today. I noticed that the Couch wasn’t even ready to be opened, so here it is.
And Handsome Son will be home, so don’t go getting any crazy ideas.
Really.

Texas is a utopia of sorts. I could do without some their picks, but it is easy to scroll past. Towards the end is a commercial featuring Ann Richards that is worth a look.

For the low low price of $745/acre you can by a 20 acre tract of land in glorious Hudspeth County Texas! They will even let you finance it for almost 20 years at $99/mo.
Or maybe its not such a good idea. -
Good morning Hamsters. Front’s through but still overcast, 54 at 6, breezy but comfortable, and it’s a good day to enjoy what we have in Texas. Umm, TexMo’s #5 notwithstanding. Yikes
The back yard has boodles of violets blooming and occasional wild onions popping up. More onions inhabit the pastures, and you can surely smell when some of their stems get broken. They are supposed to be strong but good eating, though we haven’t tried one. When Spring really gets here and folks start mowing lawns or pastures the aroma can be overpowering to the neighborhood and make the person mowing literally reduced to tears. -
#6 TexMo, years ago I read about folks buying 10 acre spreads in Montanna. They owned the land alright but couldn’t get to it unless they had a helicopter, it seems that there were big ranches all around their property and they wouldn’t give them an easement to cross their land. They of course didn’t have to if didn’t want to.

I was afraid it would be some gadget that stored your waste until you got back to town. -

And with 453.59 grams to a pound that’s some pretty light traveling.Skin out is 33 pounds, pack is just a tad over 30. Not bad for four days. Scout The Wonder Dog is at just under 8 1/2 pounds.
Heading out the door. Low 70’s and sunshine today. I’ll be napping in a hammock slung between two pine trees somewhere southeast of Huntsville. You guys go to work. -

G’Morning All
It’s Go Texan Day. Jeeze, what a bunch of ferriners we got around here. -
Speaking of special days,
Washington’s actual birthday is today (Forget about “President’s Day”). He was a rich Southern guy with a pony tail who grew hemp.
In Colorado It’s celebrated as Willie Nelson Day. -

Schizzle list of the worst cities in America, by Forbes. Twice in this article there is a link that claims to have the full list and one would expect, a list of the cities in ranked order, but in reality there is a power point display where one has to click through 21 different frames and read a little blurb about each one. Why can’t they just print the friggen list?!?

#14 Pyro: The sense of entitlement to other people’s money is astonishing. That witch should have been sterilized after her 2nd child. That the people of England tolerate that crap is outrageous. We prolly have similar examples of welfare brood mares here in the USA.

Old tortoiseshell cat Splotch went to the vet yesterday for her annual checkup, with a complaint that she had not been eating well the previous several days. To our shock, she has lost 25% of her body weight and is anemic.Today she is being dropped off at the Gulf Coast Animal clinic on the West Loop for a blood transfusion. Will probably be there all afternoon and we will have to pick her up in the midst of Friday traffic plusTrailriders.
I am heading out to a human doctor to get my SynVisc knee injections, to keep me walking around for 6 more months as I wind down my 12 years as a contractor. Check y’all later. -
#27 mharper42
Best wishes for Splotch’s treatment being successful. And for you getting her home before midnight.
SynVisc works well I understand. A dear elderly friend has gotten great benefit from it. The human medicine is exactly the same as the horse joint lubricant, Legend. Big difference in price, natch. The last Legend injections our mares had were $90 a pop. Human cost is way more than that. Same stuff, different bottle. And it’s been available for horses longer than for people. However it’s great that it works well for both bipeds and quadrupeds. -
Just don’t go to a horse doctor when you have a bad leg.
He’ll shoot you. -
I’m back and the orthopedist did not shoot me because of my bad knees.
Splotch has been checked in at GCVS but they just called and said she in in the last stages of feline leukemia. How this is possible with a cat that has lived inside for 7-8 yrs ago is unknown to me. She was living on the street when we adopted her but of course we had her tested before bringing her into the house. And she has had adult vaccinations on the usual schedule.
This is going to hit David very hard, she was his special favorite cat. -
M42: Sorry to hear the bad news about Splotch.
-
mharper42
Very sorry that Splotch is so ill. She would not have lived in such a loving home for so long had you not taken her in. The bond is strong, and it’s so hard to release her to begin her journey across the Rainbow Bridge. Hugs for you and David. -
Sorry about Splotch. Lovely lost her first kitty to what I think is the same disease. She was always an indoor kitty, also. The vet told us to wait 3 months before getting another cat, as it would take that long for any lingering virus to die.
-
We decided to end it today and asked GCVS to stop any further treatments. All the other cats have already been exposed and will have to be retested next week, but it made no sense to bring her home in a terminal yet infectious condition. She had received a blood transfusion today and was considerably pepped up from it. That was good to see because she was very draggy this morning. We gave her lots of hugs and rubs, got her purring, and said goodbye.

Not trying to be insensitive, but the “-emia” says “cancer”.
How is cancer communicable? -
#36 Pyro: See the Wiki entry for feline leukemia.
-
That’s a tough decision Mharp, but best. Sorry for your loss.
-
Thanks, dear Hamsters, for the sympathy on loss of a pet. We’ve all been through it many times, but this one was shocking to us. We went from concern over her poor appetite Thursday morning to a resigned farewll on Friday afternoon.
The rest of the story was trying to get home from the West Loop at 4:30 on Go Texan Friday. We could not get on the Loop, which was backed up from an accident on the NW Freeway. Detoured east on Memorial and found the park was all roped off for Trailriders. We were just stuck in surface traffic for over an hour before we finally got back onto a freeway. Ironically, the trouble sign for 290 was still up and we had to bail off the North Loop before our exit. Back on surface streets, interminable waits at traffic lights, and David very stressed and not driving well. Feeling lucky to have made it through this day. -
MHarp I am glad you at least had the opportunity to say goodbye.
-
I am sampling and enjoying some Red River Texas Bourbon Whiskey mfg by JEM Beverage Co in Carrolton, TX. My brother-in-law dropped it off at my house earlier today. When the liquor store closes, he is headed my way to sample it as well. I could not find a web site for them, but I did find their Facebook page which does not have any worthwhile information.

Hello?……..
-
Good morning Super Dave. 🙂
-
Good morning Ms Adee,
Dang, it’s real quite in here. Somebody slept late. -
The problem with staying up late is that you miss out on several hours worth of useful daylight.
-
Well, I’m up but just barely. I did too much walking yesterday right after my knee injections. So they are swollen and painful now. David has gone out to get my prescription anti-inflammatory to see if I can’t overcome this ASAP. I’ve had this reaction before when I overdid too soon after fresh injections. Prolly a lost weekend as far as getting anything done.

Yawn, stretch, groan, (pause while sipping coffee) Good Morning fellow couch mates. I just saw this article on Drudge and deemed it worthy to pass along.
HEADLINE: Firearms Companies Restricting Sales to Government Agencies in Areas That Restrict Gun Rights
Smaller companies are drawing the line in the sand, if we can’t sell to private citizens in a particular geographic region we will not sell to the gov’t either. It gives hope that the VMG, silent majority is starting to wake up.

Weekend comments are up. And it’s about the guns, too.
