Why, oh why, couldn’t we have heard this speech from Romney during the campaign?
Love that Bill Whittle!

Ole Bill is da BOMB Diggety!

4. My nomination, if this is a contest, is Lincoln’s Gettysburg Address.
a. It is short and to the point.
b. It expresses values that all can rally around.

G’Morning All
It beginsGarrison at Goliad declares independence
December 20, 1835
On this day in 1835, the garrison at Goliad declared its independence from Mexico. The community of Goliad originated as one of the oldest Spanish colonial municipalities in the state, dating back to 1749. Nuestra Señora de Loreto Presidio, the fort at Goliad, supplied Spanish soldiers to the army of Bernardo de Gálvez during the American Revolution, garrisoned Spanish troops during the Mexican war of independence, and after 1812 saw four separate attempts to establish Texas independence. Goliad’s role in the Texas Revolution began in October 1835 when Texans under Benjamin R. Milam and George Collinsworth captured the fort and its stores of arms and ammunition from the twenty-four-man Mexican garrison. On December 20 Goliad citizens and South Texas colonists met in the presidio chapel to sign a document known as the Goliad Declaration of Independence, written by Ira Ingram and the first such declaration for Texas, and afterwards hoisted the first flag of independence, designed by Capt. Philip Dimmitt, above the walls. The document had ninety-one signatures, the signers including José Miguel Aldrete and José María Jesús Carbajal, Texans of Mexican descent. -
Google shows that today is the 200th anniversary of Grimms Fairy Tails. A previously unknown fairy tale tale has been discovered and is being prepared for publication.
It tells the story of an American president who convinces fifty-one percent of the country that higher taxes will create jobs. -
You mean that 51% that doesn’t want freedom, just freebies from the rest of us?
-
Thanks Hammy – it showed up when I was previewing the post. I have no idea why it didn’t show up today.
Worked late again last night, but I plowed through all my “current” stuff – the mail, due bills, etc. Now I gotta work on all the other stuff.
I love that Bill Whittle! If only we could have one day where all the Republicans would sit in a room and agree to be “counseled” by the likes of this guy. I guess I can dream. /sigh -
I find this somewhat amusing.
That poor coyote. I wonder if he ever got to eat. -
This one strikes me as one of the best speeches of all time, falling a distant second behind the Sermon on The Mount. Would that we had a genuine conservative leader who actually lived as the first speaker spoke.

#9 TT: What a cool idea, I love it:>)

Any bets on whether Hitlery will ever testify on the Benghazi Bungle? Is she gonna get away with it like the Whitewater swindle, the Rose Law firm billing records and the Vince Foster death?
-
Hillary – she’s one slippery fish, she is.
That, and all those manly body parts in her lockbox – that would scare most men into “behaving”. -
Hillary – she’s one slippery fish, she is.
INFRACTION!! That was highly derogatory towards fish.
I just watched the Bill Whittle speech and I must say it is outstanding. The odds of a genuine conservative with testicles attached and functional coming up through the R establishment is close to the Mayans being accurate about tomorrow. . . . . . -
It appears that there may be some push back on Hitlery’s refusal to testify before congress.
Clinton accused of faking illness to avoid Benghazi testimony
The State Department slammed former United Nations envoy John Bolton over his suggestion that Secretary of State Hillary Rodham Clinton falsely claimed a concussion to avoid a potentially embarrassing appearance before Congress to explain the deadly terrorist attack on the U.S. mission in Benghazi, Libya. The last time Hitlery actually had to testify to anything under adverse circumstances the most common answer was “I can’t recall” and she was allowed to get away with that. Will she still be called before congress after her replacement is in place? Will she show up?

Here is a little video of “who am I” worth a couple of minutes of your time.

Good windy morning Hamsters. Having already dodged through four temporary power outages since about 5:15 this morning, I hope to stay online long enough to comment in peace. Our supposition is that the strong wind and gusts are playing havoc with the powerlines, banging things into them or slapping them together. The outages last a few seconds at most–so far. Have reset the microwave’s clock four times, usually consulting the bedroom alarm clock that knows what time it is regardless of power on or off. Currently have clothes in the dryer and in the washer and glad the hamper is empty. This is not the best day for doing laundry.
It was 55 at 5:15 when the first outage that we were aware of happened but dropped to 48 by 6 and kept diving to 45 by 6:30. The wind has sharp teeth today as well as a big push. Fortunately last night we cleared the front porch of decorations that could be damaged/blown away and put patio plants safely out of the wind or on the back porch. Eddies of the wind periodically swirl around the garage corner and invade the edges of the back porch, fluttering and sometimes slapping plants in refuge there.
Rain ahead of the front came down hard for a while and left ~0.2″ depending on which gauge is consulted. Got a new plastic one on the fence late last week as its predecessor finally broke from turning brittle and fragile over several years’ exposure to battering winds, heat, and cold. Puddles on the driveway are evaporating quickly in the dry gale, and the bedding plants are taking a beating, likely to lose much of the moisture gained last night before the winds die down. But farther north into the Midwest winter storm warnings are out, and gratefully we aren’t in the path. -
The 15 mins to hear Bill Whittle were well worth it! What a man!

Power out at my place at 0400, still out at 0645 when I left but was on shortly after 0800. That is a long outage for San Bernard Power. But the fires and drought have killed a lot of trees and I am sure that is causing trouble. Supposed to be windy tonight with 50 mph gusts, could be in the dark again tomorrow.
-
Centerpoint has been trimming trees along their power line easements in my subdivision for the last couple of weeks. The forecast for my zip code shows 20-25 mph winds all day. And a brush with a light freeze early Friday morning. So I think I’ll sleep in. Unless I am awakened by some racket that suggests the Mayans were right after all. 🙂

I’ve been doing my part to fight breast cancer for decades.
Women suffering from breast cancer may benefit from giving their breasts an extra squeeze – literally.
According to researchers from the University of California at Berkeley and the Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory, placing mechanical force on malignant mammary cells can actually reverse their irregular growth process and put them back on track for a normal growth pattern.
“We are showing that tissue organization is sensitive to mechanical inputs from the environment at the beginning stages of growth and development,” said Daniel Fletcher, professor of bioengineering at Berkeley and faculty scientist at the Berkeley Lab, as well as the study’s lead investigator. -
Unless I am awakened by some racket that suggests the Mayans were right after all.
You’ll never hear it coming.
Meteors are supersonic. -
Oh, I didn’t realize we knew how the world would end. I more imagined something like gravity would stop working and everything would just fall apart and then drift out into space like a big dust cloud.
-
The networks are going to announce they are cancelling dancing with the stars and the view. The world will end for many folks that day. 🙂

You guys were talking about high winds down there.
A friend of mine just sent me this link. Very cool.
Live Streaming Wind Current Map of the USA -
Just recovered from the 8th outage today, this one about 5 miutes. Have to revive the computer each time and log in again, revive the microwave clock, restart the clothes dryer for one last time as the laundry is finally almost done. This windy day scenario is getting mighty old fast, but at least the power does come back on. So far that is. Not everyone is so fortunate around the area.
And from the weather report, the winter storms heading to the Midwest from here are nasty–blizzards plus the fierce winds, travel advisories (as in stay home), airline travel delays, refreshers on how to drive on snow and ice (which for some regrettably become crash courses). Nope, would not trade what we have today for what is invading folks up there. -
BREAKING NEWS!!!! WINTER STORM DRACO POUNDING MIDWEST!!!!
I hereby pledge to never watch the Weather Channel again. -
#28 – no worries Hammy – I watch it enough for both of us (and long ago programmed my ears to auto filter out most of the reeeeeeeediculous drama attempts)

#28 Hamous,
Woo-hoo, looks like the winter storm’s worst section runs through illinois to Rockford and into Wisconsin from Madison up to Green Bay. Brr. Very likely the good residents of Green Bay will volunteer to shovel out Lambeau Field for Sunday’s Packers-Titans game.
Spouse’s brother and wife intended to travel from Madison to Sturgeon Bay north of Green Bay for Christmas week. Hope they have not left Madison yet.
When Chicgo gets buried, O’Hare will be shut down and airports all over the country will be crippled. What a mess. -

Snowmageddon II !!
Icember! -
Fear not, the government will be there to help.

I bet they start naming wildfires next. Here’s my prediction of the name list:
Charon
Minos
Cerberus
Plutus
Phleygas
Geryon
And if they run out of those names (because of global warming) they can use The Malebranche names. -

Since Fay was out with the office girls Christmas party, I went out to a different restaurant than they did.
Thursday nights is live music night in Austin County. Many restaurants and old beer joints have local musicians just show up and play for a few hours.
I just saw some ancient pickers do this great John Prine song. -

I see you Hamster boys could not wait for the weekend to start your hoedown. No puns or entendres intended.

Getting ready for a cold night although it’s only 36 at the moment. Have plants covered that are too big to haul onto the back porch and smaller ones clustered close to the house. Old sheets come in so handy in winter. Spouse shut off the outside water. The wind has died down. So I guess things are as ready as can be for a night that flirts with 32. No power outages since late this morning. 🙂 G’night all.

Hammy mus not love me nomo…………….thank goodness I still have SOME friends here! 🙂
Hammy you gots fish in yer box………….. -
The thrill up my leg I got while watching today’s o/c video conducts me to conclude that I BELIEVE!!!
