The first returns are in. Dixville Notch, an unincorporated township in northern NH has traditionally been the first precinct to report. They’ve also been somewhat indicative of how the election will turn out.
There are 32 registered voters in Dixville Notch, and their polling place is only open from Midnight to 12:01 AM. In 2008, there were 21 votes cast: 15 for Obama and 6 from McCain.
This year, the results were somewhat different.

This year, Dixville Notch residents cast their votes in a tie: five votes each for President Barack Obama and former Massachusetts Gov. Mitt Romney. It was the first time in Dixville Notch’s history that a tie was recorded.

50% fewer voters and Obama’s got 1/3 of what he had in 2008.
OTOH, 20% fewer votes were cast for the Republican.
Its going to be a long night.
Unless PA goes to Romney. If it does, you can go to bed knowing that it will be 1980 all over again.

  11. Tedtam Avatar

University of Colorado is making a 330/208 Romney win.

The Obama Campaign’s internal polls may be telling them something.

For such an ostensibly confident, feelin’-good campaign, they certainly seem to be taking an awful lot of messaging precautions. In a conference call this afternoon, the Obama campaign offered some advice to supporters, lest tomorrow’s news cycle start bringing in evidence that things are going Mitt Romney’s way, via Politicker:

“My warning, we need to stay calm for much of the day,” Stephanie Cutter, Mr. Obama’s deputy campaign manager, said, touting thousands of early ballots already submitted by voters. “We’ve already banked a pretty big portion of our vote.” …
“Keep calm and tweet on,” Ms. Cutter said. “So, no matter what you hear tomorrow about turnout in Republican counties or exit polls, particularly early in the day, please remember and remind your readers that, because of early votes, we’re where we need to be to win….I don’t think there’s going to be official exits until the end of the day, but if things leak out that aren’t validated or weighted, please stay calm.”

It also appears, if Brad Thor is correct, that they’ve decided they need to do some preventative propagandizing :

New York Times best-selling author Brad Thor, based in Chicago, tells TheBlaze that the Obama campaign may be planning to preemptively announce victory in the presidential election based on early voting numbers in an attempt to “demoralize Mitt Romney supporters.”
Citing a “very solid source” in Chicago, Thor says the Obama campaign is looking to make it appear to voters that they have “this thing sewed up and are less than 24 hours to victory,” according to his source.

Getting ready to go eat breakfast at Kelly’s and vote. Back later with politics chit-chat. Here’s Texas history to hold you over.

Forerunner of Daughters of the Republic of Texas founded
    November 06, 1891
On this day in 1891, the organizational meeting of the Daughters of the Republic of Texas was held in the Houston home of Mary Jane Briscoe. Mary S. M. Jones, widow of the last president of the Republic of Texas, agreed to serve as president. The name first chosen for this group was Daughters of Female Descendants of the Heroes of ’36. The association was soon renamed Daughters of the Lone Star Republic, then Daughters of the Republic of Texas at the first annual meeting in April 1892. The objectives of the association are to perpetuate the memory and spirit of the people who achieved and maintained the independence of Texas and to encourage historical research into the earliest records of Texas, especially those relating to the revolutionary and republic periods.

So what is Barry Obummer going to do on Nov. 7th? Well, here is a “Top Ten” list of things he will probably be doing:
    1) Find somebody to blame for his loss.
    2) Arrange to move back to Kenya and be able to openly practice their Muslim faith.
    3) Make sure MooMoo goes into permanent vacation mode from Nov. 7 to Jan. 20.
    4) Make a list of taxpayer paid items to take with them when they move.
    5) Figure out how much money he can make from his “pardon pad”.
    6) Get out the “executive order” pad and screw things up the best he can.
    7) Plan more extravagant White House dinners for all his contributors and rent out WH bedrooms.
    8) See if they can build a presidential library in Kenya.
    9) Finally get to tell off Joe Biden and Bill and Hillary Clinton.
    10) Give bonuses to ALL his staff people.
Now I know there is something that I forgot so feel free to add to my list.

Good morning Hamsters. A bright and beautiful day began at an invigorating 53. No excuse weatherwise for skipping voting.
Today the last shreds of credibility for the Lame Stream Media are on the line as well as the election. That the LSM have been off the rails in accurate journalism for several decades comes to a head this time around. The product offered is sorely lacking, and many consumers have already dropped their patronage. Many more are likely to do so regardless of the election outcome as more deficiencies come to light. It appears that many in the LSM are unaware they’re betting the farm this time. But a few are hedging, notably newspapers in their endorsements that are about-faces from their memes, and mayhap CBS in its release of more of the Obama interivew on the Behghazi murders shortly after the event, items that were originally withheld at broadcast. Blind allegiance has its downside. 🙂

Years ago I made up a ghost story called “Karank, the red eyed Indian” based on this . The story culminated with Karank being beheaded by the Spaniards and he spends eternity as a head with glowing red eyes floating through the brush trying to find his body. I have successfully scared the bejabbers out of kids and grand kids with it. 🙂

    Castaways begin amazing journey
    November 06, 1528
On this day in 1528, some eighty survivors of the Narváez expedition washed up on an island off the Texas coast. The castaways included Álvar Núñez Cabeza de Vaca and three other men: the slave Estavanico, Alonso Castillo Maldonado, and Andrés Dorantes de Carranza. These “four ragged castaways” became the first non-Indians to tread on Texas soil and live to tell their remarkable story. Cabeza de Vaca, born about 1490 in Spain, recovered from an almost fatal illness shortly after landing on the coast and then traveled the Texas coast and interior as a trader with native groups, including the Karankawas. The Indians revered him as a medicine man. He eventually rendezvoused with the three other survivors, and their journey ended when they arrived at the Spanish outpost of Culiacán near the Pacific Coast of Mexico in 1536. Cabeza de Vaca’s account of his amazing odyssey in his Relación detailed valuable ethnographic, geographic, and biotic information on Texas. He died in Spain in the mid-1550s.

Edinburg North Cougars @ Sharyland Rattlers
Edinburg North’s 44 yard field goal attempt fell short, falling into the awaiting hands of Sean Landez, who caught the ball at the edge of the end line 9.9 yards in to the end zone.
After maintaining his balance, he turned back for the return, racing down the sideline behind his blockers all the way in for a 109.9 yard Touchdown return!

Not Texas, but too good to pass up.

Woman who drove on sidewalk must wear ‘idiot’ sign
CLEVELAND (AP) — A woman caught on camera driving on a sidewalk to avoid a Cleveland school bus that was unloading children will have to stand at an intersection wearing a sign warning about idiots.
Court records show a Cleveland Municipal Court judge on Monday ordered 32-year-old Shena Hardin to stand at an intersection for two days next week. She will have to wear a sign saying: “Only an idiot drives on the sidewalk to avoid a school bus.”
The judge ordered her to wear the sign from 7:45 a.m. to 8:45 a.m. both days.
Hardin’s license was suspended for 30 days and she was ordered to pay $250 in court costs.
Messages seeking comment were left at a telephone listing for Hardin and at her attorney’s office.

How appropriate it is, after the billions of dollars spent, the millions of words written, the thousands of volunteers who walked precincts and called phones, that it comes down to a 5-5 tie in the midnight voting at Dixville Notch. Obama’s excitement from four years ago has evaporated – he has ten fewer votes! – but neither is there some great uplift of support for Mitt Romney, who lost a vote that went for John McCain four years ago. A fitting summation of a long-slog campaign between two distant technocrats, months of predictable trench warfare over the same ground, driven by a managerial fifty-plus-one approach to politics which is scientific, data-driven, and connects as little as possible with real people where they are. -Ben Domenech

GOP election officials are back by court order.

A Pennsylvania judge is issuing an order to reinstate Republican election officials across Philadelphia who allegedly were ejected or refused entry by on-site Democratic voting chief judges, GOP officials tell Fox News.
One Republican official claimed that “just under 70” Republican election officials were blocked from Philadelphia polling sites Tuesday morning by Democrats on site. One of them, the official claimed, “was shoved out of the polling place.”

And I found this sentence to be incredibly —- incredible. (Emphasis mine)

“For this many inspectors to be ejected from polling places is rare, even for Philadelphia,” the official told FoxNews.com.

Holy crap! “Even for Philadelphia”!? Like this happens on a regular basis?

The real interesting thing I see is the sea of red on all the maps above. I would imagine that if every precinct were colored as they voted the sea of red would be even more impressive. This yields the question: Who are the bulk of those who vote D, where are they located and how much money do they get from the feds?
I am of the firm belief that if one is on federal assistance (excluding Social Security/medicare) they should not be allowed to vote, because they are compromised.

Ten years later, how same sex marriage has impacted Canada.

Much speech that was permitted before same-sex marriage now carries risks. Many of those who have persisted in voicing their dissent have been subjected to investigations by human rights commissions and (in some cases) proceedings before human rights tribunals. Those who are poor, poorly educated, and without institutional affiliation have been particularly easy targets—anti-discrimination laws are not always applied evenly.  Some have been ordered to pay fines, make apologies, and undertake never to speak publicly on such matters again. Targets have included individuals writing letters to the editors of local newspapers, and ministers of small congregations of Christians. A Catholic bishop faced two complaints—both eventually withdrawn—prompted by comments he made in a pastoral letter about marriage.

But the financial cost of fighting the human rights machine remains enormous—Maclean’s spent hundreds of thousands of dollars in legal fees, none of which is recoverable from the commissions, tribunals, or complainants. And these cases can take up to a decade to resolve. An ordinary person with few resources who has drawn the attention of a human rights commission has no hope of appealing to the courts for relief; such a person can only accept the admonition of the commission, pay a (comparatively) small fine, and then observe the directive to remain forever silent. As long as these tools remain at the disposal of the commissions—for whom the new orthodoxy gives no theoretical basis to tolerate dissent—to engage in public discussion about same-sex marriage is to court ruin.

That looks like a friken mural to me. That Philly polling place is probably a gubmint handout spot like the Acres Homes Multi-Service Center here in SJL’s district. But they could at least cover up their mural during voting hours.
Matt Patrick was still talking about the NAACP inside the polling place on his show yesterday. He said no one in the black community sees any problem with what happened. Certainly none of the black callers did while I was listening. Many of them said things like “That never happened anyway; you prove it happened.”

Well, I’m throwing in the towel. Unbelievable. I guess our once great nation is further gone than I thought. I’m sure the occupation forces will be arriving in Texas soon.
My logic – the “too close to call” states means that we were unable to win by enough to beat the margin of fraud – close to call always goes D when the last lost boxes in the back of a city bus somewhere are found and counted. It was a great ride while it lasted.

#153 Texpat, a man after my own heart, I have one of these; CCRadio-EP AM/FM Radio w/ Lighted Needle & Dial AM/FM Analog Radio.

    AM/FM Pure Performance
Finally, a radio that is “just a radio!”
With no clock to set or station presets to program, and performance that’s equal to the premium CCRadio-2, the EP could be considered a super radio. Just push the power button, tune into your favorite stations and enjoy great AM and FM – no clock to set or station presets to program.
For very weak AM stations you can fine tune our built-in Twin Coil Ferrite AM Antenna. However, you don’t have to adjust the “TCF” knob to receive outstanding AM performance.
The EP has a wide bass and treble adjustment range for defined music and voice reproduction. A large, 5-inch speaker is combined with a hi-fidelity amplifier and a “Music/Voice” enhancement dial to give extra clarity to AM programs.
For those who live or work in a metal or concrete building and enjoy listening to a radio, we’ve provided external antenna jacks.
Here’s part of a note from Brad, in Findley, MN. that describes the CCRadio-EP better than we can:
“I bought one for my mom who is 72 years old and has gone through more radios than I can count. She never could get used to digital anything and she can’t stop raving about this radio. The reception is excellent, and it’s such a mixture of modern and retro. I’m really thinking about getting one for me now.”

Romney’s momemtum and reporting on Benghazi were stopped by Sandy, and Barry got to look Presidential at the exact moment he needed to. I know its disheartening to think that such a capricious event is was did it, but it did. Absent that event, elitist media or not, Romney looked more presidential than Obama, doubts about his competency were sown by his dismal performance in the first debate, and enough news about Benghazi was filtering out. Sandy sucked everything up in the mediashpere, the blogoshpere, and Social media..

  156. fat albert Avatar
    fat albert

On the plus side, if the Republicans in the House (still a majority!) have any man parts at all, they can hang the Benghazi fiasco around Obama’s neck. There’s enough crap there to last for months and at least try to limit any further damage. And, when Obama care fully kicks in in a couple of years there will be a backlash that will dwarf the 2010 tea party election.
Democrats aren’t out of the woods, they’ve just postponed the day of judgement.
