Isn’t that the requirement of all debate teams in school? What is that statement about?

The world stopped getting warmer almost 16 years ago, according to new data released last week.
The figures, which have triggered debate among climate scientists, reveal that from the beginning of 1997 until August 2012, there was no discernible rise in aggregate global temperatures.
This means that the βplateauβ or βpauseβ in global warming has now lasted for about the same time as the previous period when temperatures rose, 1980 to 1996. Before that, temperatures had been stable or declining for about 40 years.
The new data, compiled from more than 3,000 measuring points on land and sea, was issued quietly on the internet, without any media fanfare, and, until today, it has not been reported.
This stands in sharp contrast to the release of the previous figures six months ago, which went only to the end of 2010 β a very warm year.
Ending the data then means it is possible to show a slight warming trend since 1997, but 2011 and the first eight months of 2012 were much cooler, and thus this trend is erased. -

Yesterday Shamaal wrote in regards to the miner’s ad:
Iβll go with the Chief Operating Officerβs statement.
Like you wrote, their jobs are on the line.Today I read this:
Murray Energy Chief Financial Officer Rob Moore told the radio station in an extended interview that the company shut down the mine because senior managers wanted to attend, and it could not remain open during a rally.
βWe had managers that communicated [to employees] that the attendance was mandatory,β Moore said. βBut no one was forced to attend the event.β He said some workers did not show up and they faced no consequences.
Murray Energy Chief Executive Officer Robert Murray has thrown fundraisers for and personally donated to the Romney campaign.

I worked until well after 2:00 a.m. Got stuff done, but had to quit when I started feeling nauseated. Needless to say, I’m a little slow getting going this morning.
Speaking of getting going…gotta get some bonds to the city. -
I’m sure her kids are proud.
When officers arrived, Hunziker told them they didn’t need to be there because she’s a Republican.
After refusing to leave, she fought officers trying to handcuff her and later told them “she was doing this because she was a good mother,” -

And being small business owners ourselves, and struggling to make ends meet…that story really resonates.
Now, multiply that by the thousands of small businesses across the country. -

#19 TT: But you didn’t build that business, you are a winner in life’s lottery! You have to spread the wealth around because the people who drink and do dope all night and sleep all day don’t have as much as you therefore you need to share. You know, just to make it fair. You take more than what you put into the system, you are getting rich offa the backs of the poor, you are stealing from the poor so you have to pay higher taxes.

I was just discussing the blackboard/powder bath project with my office help, and remembered a book I purchased yeeeaaaars ago on graffiti from the Southwest Conference. (Yes, it’s an old book.) It seems the authors toured colleges all over the country and accumulated the wit and wisdom left behind from the students at each university. Let’s just say that graffiti from universities is a tad above the scribblings of hormonally charged teenagers at your junior and senior high schools.
While giving her some samples from the book, I came across this piece of wisdom, taken from Fat Dawg’s at Texas Tech:Free men are never equal. Equal men are never free.
I thought about putting the book in the powder bath for inspiration, but there are way too many cuss words to risk someone’s kid getting their hands on it.

Back when I was living under the crushing bad influence of my roommate Katfish in Austin in the 70’s, he would take me to a little dive called Spellman’s where he ruled over the pool tables like some psychotic Minnesota Fats.
Bar none, they had the finest graffiti-filled bathroom walls in the country. -

#19 TT: But you didnβt build that business, you are a winner in lifeβs lottery!
I refer you to my first post of the day:
I worked until well after 2:00 a.m. Got stuff done, but had to quit when I started feeling nauseated. Needless to say, Iβm a little slow getting going this morning.
Speaking of getting goingβ¦gotta get some bonds to the city.Yep, I did nothing by myself. I do get just a little heated when I hear that kind of crap. It would take more than hands and feet of myself and my siblings (eleven of those) to count the number of nights I’ve been up so late working that I almost made myself sick. Working into the wee hours of the morning is nothing new nor unusual for me. Those who are unwilling to take risks and do the work have no right to criticize the small business owners who do.
Now that I’ve verified a few things with our insurance agent, I have to go leave anddo business withwait forever at the City’s permitting office. -
My favorite poem from the book (and there are several humorous limericks, as well), is a sexually oriented yet (relatively) clean one:
’twas I who did the pushin’
Left the stains up on the cushion,
And my footprints on the dashboard
Upside down.
But since I screwed your daughter,
I’ve had trouble passing water,
So now I think we’re even
All around. -

Made me remember, I once wrote a term paper on Graffiti in women’s restrooms at UT Austin. In some buildings, the women’s restrooms didn’t have any graffiti, so I seeded a few stalls to see if I could propagate some more. I don’t remember now if that always worked or not. Somewhere in a closet upstairs, among some sealed boxes that I moved down to Houston 31 years ago, because it was too much trouble to triage boxes of stuff — I probably still have that paper. -

Maybe because JugEars was spending so much time with this sort of thing that he did not have time to be informed of the nightmare in Benghazi. The fact that there were 200+ incidents in the year prior at that consulate, and that it was the anniversary of 9-11, and that there were numerous warnings that an attack was imminent, and that there were numerous requests for more security for months may cause one to ask WHY WEREN’T THOSE DOTS CONNECTED?

#48 The threw Hitlery under the bus by stating (falsely) that the white house was never notified and so “the buck never got here”. Not that I mind her getting the bum’s rush, she deserves it for her own incompetence; how’s that friggin reset button working with Russia, there Hil? The fact of the matter is that the glaring incompetence in the white house makes us all much more vulnerable because now every bomb throwing, goat raping sleeze ball is gonna think they can take a shot at us and get away with it. One of those may get through and kill a bunch of innocents.

Cheer up Bones. It’s almost 4:20… Seriously, this should be an open and shut case.
The government was petitioned to examine the most recent scientific evidence proving cannabisβ medical value and as a result move marijuana to a lower schedule, but the DEA first stonewalled and than finally rejected the petition in 2011. The DEA was then sued for inappropriately rejecting the petition. The court may decide if the DEA did in fact fail to follow its legal requirements on this issue.
In 1971, Nixon rejected the report of a study he commissioned and forced congress to classify cannabis as a Sched 1 (as dangerous as heroin) substance. What the cowardly politicians (of both parties) have failed to do, the courts will.

This has been going on for many years. This year Harris County has 29 schools participating.
A national campaign launched by Teaching Tolerance a decade ago, Mix It Up at Lunch Day encourages students to identify, question and cross social boundaries.
In our surveys, students have identified the cafeteria as the place where divisions are most clearly drawn. So on one day β October 30 this school year β we ask students to move out of their comfort zones and connect with someone new over lunch. Itβs a simple act with profound implications. Studies have shown that interactions across group lines can help reduce prejudice. When students interact with those who are different from them, biases and misperceptions can fall away.Uh oh, the nucking futz crowd has an opinion. Best to keep your child out of school than run the risk that they will have lunch with someone outside their social circle.
But this year, the American Family Association, a conservative evangelical group, has called the project βa nationwide push to promote the homosexual lifestyle in public schoolsβ and is urging parents to keep their children home from school on Oct. 30, the day most of the schools plan to participate this year.

Well it’s certainly a nice gesture, but I do not John Glenn is needing a memorial just yet. Clearly a typo by the editorial staff or Pete Olson.
Father Lubomir Kupecz blesses the statues of Yuri Gagarin and memorial to John Glenn with holy water at the city of Houston’s parks department headquarters, which was the original NASA headquarters in Houston, Texas.

The National Hockey League has locked out the players for the 3rd time in 18 years. This is getting a little tedious. So they hire Frank Lutz to spin their way out of it. You may remember Frank Lutz for inventing “Climate Change” to replace global warming or inventing the term “Death Taxes.”
You’re going to hear a lot about “shared sacrifice” from the NHL in the days and weeks to come. That’s the word from inside a secret emergency PR focus group, in which a top Republican Party strategist tested pro-ownership messages on a captive audience of hockey fans. One of those fans shared the documents with us, for a sneak preview of the propaganda campaign the NHL will be unloading on the public as the lockout drags on.

Howdy Hamsters. Checking in to see what I’ve missed while gone to Wisconsin the past 6 days.
Saw the Texans-Packers game last night in a Madison suburb at the home of my brother-in-law and wife after spouse and I had spent most of the time with them at their cottage in Door County, some 50 miles north of Green Bay. Returned through Green Bay in a downpour yesterday not very far from Lambeau Field, which is not quite visible from the highway on a sunny day nevermind in a deluge. The whole state needed the rain, and quite a lot fell over the weekend.
As for the game, Packers needed to win it more than the Texans did, and they did so decisively. Texans got a wakeup call–and how. Meaningful Learning Experience.
Will expound later on observations while there regarding the mood of Badgers in general and some particulars regarding the trappings of the election. Romney-Ryan can win the state IMHO. The natives are restless to put it mildly. π
G’night all.
