Drudge headline; They booed putting God back; Democrats change platform to add God, Jerusalem.
CHARLOTTE, N.C. (AP) — Needled by Mitt Romney and other Republicans, Democrats hurriedly rewrote their convention platform Wednesday to add a mention of God and declare Jerusalem the capital of Israel after President Barack Obama intervened to order the changes.
The embarrassing reversal was compounded by chaos and uncertainty on the convention floor. Three times Los Angeles Mayor Antonio Villaraigosa, the convention chairman, called for a voice vote on the changes and each time the yes and no votes seemed to balance each other out. On the third attempt, Villaraigosa ruled the amendments were approved — triggering boos from many in the audience.
The episode exposed tensions on Israel within the party, put Democrats on the defensive and created a public relations spectacle as Obama arrived in the convention city to claim his party’s nomination for a second term.
“There was no discussion. We didn’t even see it coming. We were blindsided by it,” said Noor Ul-Hasan, a Muslim delegate from Salt Lake City, who questioned whether the convention had enough of a quorum to even amend the platform.They’re comming apart, I tell ya’. I mentioned last night that they aren’t even trying to get middle of the road undicided vote, just shore their left wing, nut-job base of losers. I don’t think that it’ll be enough.

Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the Government for a redress of grievances.
Don’t see anything in there about saying God. In fact, it guarantees that you can say God whenever you want to. It does prohibit, however, a Government mandated religion. (Think Church of England from the olden days.)

#18 OTL: What the pagans frequently refuse to recognize is that the terms religion and denomination were used interchangeably in that time. Today we realize that those of different Christian denominations still practice the same religion which is Christianity. With respect to the Church of England, the Anglican Church, one had to be a member in good standing of same in order to have any hope of success in England. It was that requirement, to be a member in good standing of the denomination of the Anglican Church (as opposed to Catholic or Methodist, etc) that the founders deemed to be a grievous violation of religious liberty. In every state constitution up until the 1900s in order to serve that state in political office, one had to profess faith in Christ, but there was no religious test, meaning denominational requirement.
Just like everything else that has to do with evil and the father of all lies, those adherents must base their beliefs on a lie or a crime. This religion/denomination confusing is just another example of them intentionally muddying the water in order to advance their foul agenda. -

Good morning Hamsters. Must convince self that the 74 this morning is but an appetizer for what comes on Saturday with the cool front. Of course we have two more days of mid-upper 90s to survive.
Yesterday was kinda lost. Spouse had an accident on the way to work around 6:45 am near the exit on Ft. Bend/Westpark Tollway and Beltway 8. The line of cars exiting has a traffic light and left turn to negotiate just beyond an underpass if you’re going north on the Beltway. Going south it’s a straight shot to the feeder road on the right. Light must have changed and everyone slams on the brakes, except spouse couldn’t completely stop, and the front end of our car went under the bumper of an Escalade. Nobody hurt, no airbags deployed, and the car got the worst of it with crunched front end and broken radiator. Not hit from behind, thankfully.
Spouse called to say it would have to be towed, radiator water all over the ground. And I would have to come get him. He took pictues of our car and the Escalade with this cell phone before the car was towed off to the parking lot of a convenience store at Bellaire and Beltway 8. About an hour later I managed to get there through awful morning rush traffic on city streets–could not get on the tollway as it was a parking lot even out near Grand Parkway. We got back home about 9:15, and spouse went straight to our insurance agency. They arranged to spring the car from the infamous storage lot system and have it brought to a repair facility the company believes provides good service and is relatively nearby. Maybe by Friday or Monday we will find out what the extent of damage is and whether it is worth repairing in the company’s opinion. It’s a 2007 Lucerne that just went over 50,000 miles and has had only minor repairs. Up until yesterday morning, it had attracted at least three unsolicited offers to buy it sight unseen by Buick dealers. Expect that will not be happening again. 🙁 -

Well, Aggie Beau is certainly popular. He went to the California office to help straighten things out, and was only supposed to be gone for a few days. They’re trying to force a coup and steal him for much longer. He’s stressed out big time, and Lovely is being flown out there to provide emotional support, especially since he may be absent for much longer. His bosses are trying to retrieve their prize employee, but we’ll see.
Keep them both in your prayers. I’ve been in highly stressful job situations, and I know what it’s like. I’m assuming her boss (nice) is being understanding about the situation. -

The population was exploding up and down the valley because the folks were fleeing across the California border. The downside was the real estate prices were going through the roof. The people leaving California were selling 1100 square foot bungalows built in the 40’s-50’s for $500,000 and moving into modern 3000 square foot houses for $300,000, but talking to the locals, these houses sold for $200,000 or less before the invasion. Oh and Nevada has NO state income tax.

That nice UPS driver just stopped by to see me, I always love it when he shows up because he has NEAT stuff. This time it was a box of 50, 32-20 rounds loaded by Black Hills ammo outta Rapid City SD. 20 years ago you’d have a real hard time finding 32-20 ammo because it’s an old obsolete black powder load. But with the “Cowboy Action Shooting” matches they’re making a small come back. They’re popular because back in the old west they made 44-40 and 32-20 pistols (Colt) and rifles (Winchester) in these calibers, that way a guy only had to have one kind of ammo.
Son-in-Law ‘s grandpa gave him an old Smith & Wesson M & P 32-20 made in 1906-1907, (I looked it up) so I figured he neede some ammo and he wouldn’t find it around here. 😉 -

It comes out at the Occupy Austin trial that the primary provocateur was actually an Austin undercover police officer. Apparently he built and delivered the “criminal instruments” that the defendants are accused of using.

I’m watching “Sanford & Son”. It features diversity – the characters are all black. Of the main characters, one is a black man actually making a living, even if it is dealing with junk, and not sitting around waiting for the government to take care of him. The other guy may be surly, but at least he’s funny.

If anything, the gearing up for the unnatural demand caused by WWII would have caused a sharp recession/depression immediately afterward. That did happen to a degree, but was ameliorated by the fact that there was virtually no industrial capacity remaining in the world outside of the US & Canada to rebuild shattered economies and societies.
This is why stimulus programs don’t work. They rely on creating artificial demand which does nothing but provide busy work or pulls demand forward in time. If the gearing up for the war effort were the real reason for the end of the depression, we could simply build lots of airplanes, tanks, guns, ammo, etc. and dump it into the ocean to end a recession.
Obviously, that does not work. What works is allowing industrial capacity to be employed satisfying real demand. Applied to our scenario, that would mean we could stimulate the economy by building guns, planes, tanks, etc., use them to destroy someone else’s industrial base, then satisfy the resulting demand for products to help them rebuild.
Although we would then shortly encounter the “broken window fallacy”. -

Although of German ancestry, I never got a student loan. So the local semitic population is safe from me at least.
Not that it’s not a good idea to give students loans, it certainly is a good idea to give them loans. But if you can ignore the Constitution to do something good today, tomorrow you will be ignoring the Constitution to do something bad. You could. There are more people in our, in America today of German ancestry than any other [inaudible]. The Holocaust that occurred in Germany — how in the heck could that happen? And when you start down the wrong road, it can be a very slippery slope.

Well I spent a most pleasant evening at a Greater Fort Bend County Tea Party general meeting. Arrived home about 8:30 to find spouse watching a WWII documentary and so did not disturb that. At 9 we pulled up another episode of Deep Space Nine and enjoyed that refreshing escape from the DNC.
All the argument over God mention in or God mention out of the Dem platform, likewise Jerusalem as capital of Israel, was displayed in a most unseemly manner yesterday. The hasty restoration of same by declaring the third yea voice vote to be carried when it was obvious that the nays were the winners of all three (!) votes manifests how panicky the Dems are about their reckless embrace of radicalism at this convention. They caught hell for it and beat a disorderly retreat–by any means necessary.
Ended up watching the last few minutes on Fox while waiting for the delayed 10 o’clock news on 11. Could not stomach the CBS version while waiting. The Dems did an about face in having Cardinal Dolan, Archbishop of New York, give the benediction as he had at the GOP convention. The Dems had stonewalled his offer to appear at their clambake and was rebuffed/ignored. Somebody must have decided they needed to try to mend all the torn fences their radicalism had broken, so there he was. He did not disappoint and gave them the stern lecture they so richly had coming in his benediction. I was waiting for some idiots to boo him in the midst of it, but nobody did. The Dems did not cover themselves in glory. Umm perhaps with something else…. But that’s their problem.
