Sorry for the delay. After moving my dirt last night and getting dinner, my muse and I had an evening together. I finally got my latest character down on paper, and now his mother is knocking around in my head.
Anyway, that is MY reason for not putting up a thread for today. I was entertaining company last night.
The door is open, the Couch has been cleared of newspaper, and I’ll start making the tea. Just don’t put your dirty feet up on the couch and watch where you sit — Barf Kitty’s been busy.

Trash Index
And that’s worrisome because, as the graph above shows, the garbage indicator (which is gleaned from statistics provided by the American Association of Railroads) appears to have plummeted for the third quarter of 2012. -
Another pit bull attack.
Dang, that’s gonna leave a mark – in his wallet! I’m glad the kitty is safe, but too bad his car wasn’t. -
Firsticus Shannon: The correlation is over 80%, it can’t be ignored.
-
Intelligence sources say Texas expatriate Texpat will attempt to breach the State line today.
Do we let him back in????? -
#2 TT: From your linkie:
“He discovered that his vehicle had been significantly damaged by his four pit bull dogs, in an attempt to attack an unknown animal or rodent while his vehicle was parked overnight,”’ Kovaleff told the station.
So lemme get this straight, this dipstick has 4 obviously vicious animals and there is no word in the article that he wants to have the dogs put down in spite of the clear and present danger they present?
Maybe Darwin will take over, hopefully he has not had a chance to procreate as his genetic input would bring down the level of intellect in the gene pool. -
#4 – ONLY if he brought us some Sabrett hotdogs!! 🙂
-
#4: Sounds like a fambily reunion in the works, we should alert the authoritahs.

Well the news report that Romney’s black support is 0% has resulted in some Twitter backlash:
If a Black Conservative shouts in the @NBCNews forest, does anybody hear? #BlackConservativesForRomney
An NBC poll says 0% of African-American voters support Romney. Heh. #WeAreThe0Percent #BlackConservativesForRomney
NBC pollsters who say 0% of African-American voters support Romney. Seen the 60s sign reading “I Am A Man”?? #BlackConservativesForRomney”
And they’re being cheered on:
I support #BlackConservativesforRomney and #LatinosForRomney because character matters, not skin color. God bless my Fellow patriots.
@WesFromTheATL #Conservatism is color-blind and we would welcome you with open arms. #BlackConservativesForRomney
And from the quotes – speak it, sister!
I am latina and I am voting for Romney. Liberals do not speak for me. What I see in the democratic party is their ability to keep minorities on the plantation and those that escape their plantation are rediculed. Well no matter, they can redicule me all they want, but I vote for someone that will do something for the entire country. Character does matter and the democrates do not know the meaning of the word.
The left-wing media loses face, again.

A new front may be opening on the cancer wars.
Angiogenesis—the growth of new blood vessels—is one of the hallmarks of cancer.1 Angiogenic blood vessels supply tumors with nutrients, but because of their own rapid growth, they are irregular and leaky, with more and larger gaps in their walls than healthy blood vessels. The gap sizes vary depending on where the tumor is in the body and its stage of development, but generally range from a few hundred nanometers to a few microns.2 In contrast, the pores in normal blood vessels are just 2–6 nm in size. Nanoparticles between about 10 and 300 nm in diameter are just the right size to pass through the gaps in the blood vessels supplying tumors but don’t significantly penetrate healthy tissue. By loading the particles with chemotherapy drugs—established cancer killers—one can, at least in principle, deliver the drugs to tumor cells without damaging healthy cells.
If this can be successfully exploited, the drugs used can be much stronger because they will only be exposed to the cancer cells as the healthy cells will not allow the particles access due to small pore size. In theory, this will reduce the side effects of chemo-therapy dramatically because only the cancer cells are being exposed. If they can attach a sugar molecule to the delivery vehicle the cancer cells will suck them in because cancer cells are sugar lovers.

A college chancellor stands up for gun rights on campus:
First off, a lefty professor is so afraid that a gun might appear during a classroom discussion, that he threatens to cancel classes:“My own personal policy in my classes is if I am aware that there is a firearm in the class — registered or unregistered, concealed or unconcealed — the class session is immediately canceled,” Peterson said. “I want my students to feel unconstrained in their discussions.”
Um, yeah, like that’s going to happen. I’ve never been in a heated “class room discussion”. I think the worst I’ve ever seen is the tension-filled class mostly-failing managerial accounting class just before our third exam, when I asked our worthless TA to slow down (she wrote with her right hand and erased with her left, while lecturing). I’ve never been in a room where the very atmosphere throbbed. Oh, wait, the throbbing was AFTER the exam, when most of us were greeted with our grades. That teacher was a worthless…but I digress. Even with that much tension, it never occurred to me that someone would whip out a gun. We would have taken that wiss out with our bare hands.
But, back to the topic – I’m sure that the classroom discussion would be constrained should a bad guy, unconstrained by rules, brought a gun into a defenseless classroom and started firing. Yep, that would put a crimp in the discussion. But if another student had a CC handgun, the shooter wouldn’t be crimping the discussion for long.
But the chancellor stood up to the political correctness:“I have the utmost respect for Professor Peterson, who is an old friend and valued colleague, but I want to make clear that if the student carrying the weapon has a concealed-carry permit, the position implied by Professor Peterson’s comments directly violates Colorado law and the operating principles of the campus,” he said according to the Daily Camera.
“On this issue, there can be no ambiguity: all CU-Boulder faculty, as CU and state employees, are expected to teach their assigned courses and to hold classes for all enrolled students,” DiStefano added.
The Daily Camera reports that he also threatened disciplinary action for any professor caught cancelling class because of legal gun owners exercising their right. It’s not until the idiots have their silliness challenged that the silliness will go away.

That’s great news! I take tumeric, just for its antiangiogenesis factor. -
I didn’t have much to work on this morning, and I’m finished already. Going out with the handsaw and rake to do more yard cleanup before it gets too hot, Check y’all later.
-
Well, this ‘splains a lot. I think TBO has the same hiring policy.
-
TT: Read the article, it gets a little into the weeds but is understandable. What amazes me is the balance in the presentation; in the beginning it describes the potential and later it has a section headlined “challenges” which describes all the current problems and some solutions to those problems.

So much for throwing granny off a cliff:
The race has tightened in Florida, where Mr. Obama is leading 49 percent to 46 percent – equal to the poll’s three-point margin of error. Romney holds a double-digit lead among seniors in the Sunshine State.
-
The best thing that ever happened to the “Crumb and Get It” baker was telling Biden “no”.
Perhaps other business owners will follow suit.
Obama’s our president, not our king. Perhaps someone needs to tell him and his sidekick that. Oh, Crumb and Get It did! -

Hey, I’ve got a small forest in my backyard! If you wanna keep “exercising,” you’re welcome over here at any time. 😉 -
Stay informed! Due to hurricane Isaac the presidential election will be held on two seperate dates this year. democrats will vote on Nov 2nd and republicans will vote on Nov 6th.
We must make sure voters are not disenfranchised. -
These stories always scare me.
But after recently reading Tedtam’s supposedly simple method of creating passwords, I realized that my doddering dotage and dementia will forever leave me a vulnable. -
Shannon has inbound email. Txt didn’t work so well.
-
Concerned about the hurricane threat, the republican party today announced that it is moving the convention to the 15th century.

#11 TT: Angiogenesis is not a bad thing in and of itself, it is that very process by which the cardiac muscle (the heart) develops co-lateral vascularity. When a given region of the heart is fed by multiple vessels, the damage done by a blockage in one vessel is minimized. Exercise causes angiogenesis and makes muscles stronger, speeds recovery from a workout and increases endurance.
When cancer comes into play, the issue is the failure of the body to recognize that a cell is not formed properly or performing according to spec. In a healthy body system, a defective cell is destroyed either by a “suicide switch” or attack by the immune system, when cancer starts to take hold, these mechanisms have failed. -
Getting cloudy and a little breezy over here.

Putting dwarfs and quidraplegics in the same boat with “severe intellectual disability” is itself a clear sign of intellectual disability. I can readily see dwarfs and wheelchair-bound (with normal or superior intellect) arguing before the Supreme Court. I can’t see mentally disabled being able to do much except maybe sweep the floors. -
#13: PC insanity on full display. It reminds me of a scenario in the book Atlas Shrugged, the railroad president Taggart, married this waitress because she had absolutely nothing to offer him. . . . .thus demonstrating true love. The problem is that there was no love there and there was nothing in common between the two – of course the marriage failed miserably.

From the mail box;
Mother of all Jihadist Jokes
This is so tasteless, it cries out to be shared!
Mother of all Jihadist Jokes…
Two Middle East mothers are sitting in a cafe chatting over a plate of
tabouli and a pint of goat’s milk.
The older of the two pulls a small folder out of her handbag and starts
flipping through photos. They start reminiscing.
”This is my oldest son, Mujibar. He would have been 24 years old now.”
”Yes, I remember him as a baby.” says the other mother cheerfully.
“He’s a martyr now though.” the mother confides..
“Oh, so sad dear…” says the other.
”And this is my second son, Khalid. He would have been 21.”
”Oh, I remember him,” says the other happily, ”he had such curly hair
when he was born.”
”He’s a martyr too…” says the mother quietly.
”Oh, gracious me…” says the other.
”And this is my third son. My baby. My beautiful Ahmed. He would have
been 18”, she whispers.
“Yes,” says the friend enthusiastically, ”I remember when he first
started school…”
”He’s a martyr also,” says the mother, with tears in her eyes.
After a pause and a deep sigh, the second Muslim mother looks wistfully
at the photographs and, searching for the right words, says . . .
“They blow up so fast, don’t they?” -
#15 Hamous, and the seniors are the one group MOST likly to show up at the polls.

#28 SD: Funny, sad and true all at the same time.

I only lasted about an hour. I can’t work with sweat in my eyes. Yeah, I know: sissy girl. But now there is only 1 log left to contend with. Hope to make one cut to result in 2 pieces that can be carried out of sight. It’s a month until the next COH heavy trash tree waste pickup.
-
Earlier this morning, on the Wednesday thread, I recommended THIS for the OC thread. 😀
-
#1 Shannon. I just got around to looking at the Trash index and it makes perfect sense, interesting.
-
ICE agents sue the TBO monarchy.
This could get very interesting. -
#31 –
I can’t work with sweat in my eyes
Me neither! (that’s why God made bandannas……..)
-
I’ll try a bandanna next time. A sweat band shore don’t cut it.
-
Obama says he is serving others as POTUS.
-
Yeah, he’s “serving” others. When he says it, I get an image related to animal husbandry.
-
#36 – If nothing else a rolled up or folded bandanna likely catches more sweat – but you can overwhelm a bandannas’s capacity too………..then it’s time for cooling off with a glass of water or tea! (or many glasses)

#38 TT: Hussy, pervette.
Beat ya to it, Pyro! -
Duke Kahanamoku was the original Big Kahuna. All others were poseurs.

I’m not saying I’m lazy but, I went to a sex shop for a ‘girlfriend’. I bought the muslim one because it blows itself up.
The weather in Canada is fabulous. High seventies, low eighties. Feels like fall. -

90 degrees and 20% humidity might be rather pleasant at the Salt Flats next week.
-
Are ya gonna run one yerself, crew or watch?
-
Nah. It’s just a wedding. Texpat’s only daughter.
-
Will this be a barefoot-in-the sand type of wedding? Will the Hamsters get to see the “pitchers” from this event?
-
I’m not sure that anyone knows what kind of ceremony this is going to be. We love her to death, but communication is not her strong suit.
Must take after her mother. -
Does your dog misbehave? Has beating him not worked as well as you might have hoped? Has tying him to a tree in the back yard just caused more problems with the neighbors and the SPCA? When you withhold food, do your kids and wife just feed him on the sly anyway?
Technology brings you a novel solution. -
Mike Huckabee demonstrates why it was always a bad idea for him to be President.
I heard some of this on the radio last night and was completely disgusted. -
Does your dog misbehave?
No, he’s perfect.
Just ask him. -
And I think Scout should come live with us.

TV viewing next year might be looking up.

Nah.
Wind blows parallel to isobars, not across them.
Crackerland’s gonna get it. -
Okay, when y’all are all living in FEMA camps, don’t come whining to me.

Are we going to die of low pressure? Like there won’t be enough air for us to breathe in Houston? -
I think the terlit bowl, aka Nawlins, is gonna git it agin. Let’s see those TNs try and blame that on Boosh
-
Did I kilt da blog? Y’all rush out to buy bottled air?
We got a nice short rain here during the last hour, but aside from wind, it wasn’t a stormy rain. -
I just finished my shower. I moved another 20 loads or so of dirt and pulled some of the weeds away from a new area I wanted to work. It was getting dark and I was still shoveling and I started feeling something in my hair. I thought maybe it was a June bug, which would have been disgusting, but I was just a few raindrops. We got a few minutes of light drizzle as I sat on the back porch, admiring my new strip of dark on the lawn and drinking some ice water.
I didn’t get to take a picture today, but I’ll be taking one tomorrow. Someday, when I’m finished, I’m going to string all the pictures together and you can see the pile diminish in a time lapse sort of way. -
I’m watching an old movie, “Navy Seals”. Charlie Sheen is so boyishly young, and I almost didn’t recognize the black guy, but the voice gave him away. He’s the one who was the head of the “The Unit” (Dennis Haybert). There’s only guy with a voice like that. and he was about to marry S.Epatha Merkerson, whom I last saw as a detective on Law & Order.
This should be interesting. I wonder how many others I’ll recognize before the movie’s over? -
and he was about to marry S.Epatha Merkerson, whom I last saw as a detective on Law & Order.
Whom I first saw as the mail lady on Peewee’s Playhouse.

Here’s another actor who got his start on Peewee’s Playhouse:
-
Peewee’s Playhouse was a mesmerizing show.
-
It’s late and no one is here but I have a question. He survives a criminal investigation, countless tests over the years and some non elected government body strips him of his wins?
I think a local baseball player went through this. Is this a government plan to reduce American excellence? Shouldn’t our tax dollars be used on something useful? Could somebody tell why the keep pursuing this guy?
