These and many similar questions—which are the very essence
of today’s alarmist/declinist/catastrophist journalistic
narrative—have four things in common: (a) you and I don’t
know the answer to any of them, (b) neither does anybody else,
(c) they’re there to keep you glued in terror to the television set/
computer screen, and (d) they can only serve to distract you
from the real essence of the global economy, to wit that it is in
the midst of perhaps its greatest growth spurt of all time—for all
intents and purposes, a third industrial revolution. The link takes you to a PDF newsletter that might ask you to Open or Save a file. It’s a legit link.

I’m kind of pizzzedtoff that it took so blasted long to get to this point, however, the spectacle of the sitting AG of the most transparent administration in history being sued for non production of subpoenaed documents during the run-up to the presidential election, is simply too rich to pass up. Yes, this is an example of politics in action as the suit really should have been brought in March 2012 or so. This is the same type of hard-ball politics the Ds have been inflicting on the Rs (who generally do not respond in kind) for years – we will see how they handle a dose of their own medicine. -

Romney Back in the Lead – The Rasmussen Report–Midday Update–August 9, 2012
You may be intrerested in that audio. -
While some of my conservative colleagues are criticizing the Romney campaign for one thing or another, I want to make a distinct point that is largely being overlooked: Mitt Romney is the most fiscally conservative Republican standard-bearer since Ronald Reagan.
Looking back through his speeches, interviews, and programmatic proposals, I see an emphasis on economic freedom, free enterprise, low tax rates, deep federal spending cuts, and free trade, and a free-market approach to tough social problems, such as health care, education, and poverty. Meaning no disrespect to George W. Bush, John McCain, Robert Dole, and George H. W. Bush, not one of these former Republican leaders was the consistent and comprehensive free-market advocate that Romney has been. Here here!!!

Muslim Brotherhood President al-Mursi has just removed the two commanding generals of the Egyptian military. Does he have a right to do this? Who knows? There’s no constitution. That means all we were told about not having to worry because the generals would restrain the Brotherhood was false. Moreover, the idea that the army, and hence the government, may fear to act lest they lose U.S. aid will also be false. There is no parliament at present He is now the democratically elected dictator of Egypt. True, he picked another career officer but he has now put forward the principle: he decides who runs the army. The generals can still advise Mursi. He can choose to listen to them or not. But there is no more dual power in Egypt but only one leader. The Supreme Council of the Armed Forces which has run Egypt since February 2011 is gone. Only Mursi remains and Egypt is now at his mercy.
No bueno. Of curse, they could not have achieved this without the help of the US governmnet…well, the O administration to be exact.

While the TSA is busy groping 95-year old nuns and small children in the terminal, some dude whose jet ski broke down wanders across not one, but two active runways, passing a $100million motion detector and camera system, then into one of the terminals at JFK. I hear that in Japan, they sell insurance for holes-in-one. It seems that if you make a hole-in-one, you are supposed to throw a party in celebration of the event, and anyone and everyone who witnessed the event are to be invited. And, from what I understand, a little cake and punch isn’t what’s expected; these parties can be quite expensive.
Hence, the insurance. It pays for the party. -
How many voters do you think will change their minds based on debates? My guess is very few. But then, maybe a very few is all that’s needed. I’m always dismayed when I realize that the people with no guiding principles at all are the ones who make the final decision in these important races.

-
#33 TexMo: I read most of the article and am “gob-smacked” that modern fuel efficient cars are less polluting by every measure and less expensive in total cost than any mass transit system. /sarc off. To relieve traffic congestion in HOUSTON TEXAS, light rail or rail of any kind is the least practical and costs more than any other solution short of individual helicopter rides. If you want to relieve traffic use lots of buses and have lots of park and ride lots. The bus routes need to be adjusted so that they can offer cross town transit instead of having the classic hub and spoke arrangement.

On the light rail thing. In Calgary they have a light rail sytem that they built along – for the most part, existing rail lines. They tunneled when appropriate and elevated when that worked. The system is quick, easy and well used. While I did not work downtown, if I had to go I would drive to one of the stations and take the train. No parking hassles, no traffic and they were quick. Built over time, the trains actually run where people need them.
Just my thoughts. -

I pretty sure everyone already knows that. It wouldn’t surprise me to have Biden request his name be removed from the ticket “for health-related reasons” such as HPRS (Hair Plug Rejection Syndrome) so Shrillary can be put on the ticket.

Fascinating statistics! I had no idea public transit was quite that poor an “investment”. -
#37 I think the majority of voting Americans still remember Hitlery’s “health care express” debacle and how it is just about the same thing as 0-care. The only difference between Hitlery and JugEars is skin tone and genitalia (questionable in this case) and the overwhelming majority of voters R or D understand that. I think she can see a sinking ship and I expect her to reject the invitation to be veep. Nanzi Pelousy would jump all over the chance, however.
-
A caller to Laura Ingraham’s show just before 10 today came up with a perfect slogan for the RR campaign. He attributed it to his brother, ordinary citizens both. 🙂
Look in your wallet. Do you see dollars or coupons? -
The solution, say transit advocates, is to rebuild American cities to higher densities so more people can live and work close to transit stops. This means a higher percentage of people will have to live in multifamily housing instead of single-family homes. Planners in Portland, Oregon, for example, have set a target of reducing the number of households living in single-family homes from 65 percent to 41 percent.
This relates to what has been talked about in some media about Obama’s war on suburbia. Trying to get people back into the cities to become dependent on the government.
-
#41: If you can get the bulk of people to crowd into the cities you can more easily control them. You control the water, electricity, food deliveries, etc.; if the inmates get out of control, simply apply a little pressure to bring them back into line. In suburbia, people can plant gardens and at least partially feed themselves, in a city that is impossible. The push to crowd people into cities under false pretense reveals the malevolence of their core.
-
further to #42 above: What is the first thing one does when one wants to:
brand cattle
shear sheep
slaughter the above
The answer is to get them all bunched up in one place because they are easier to handle that way. Just in case some here on the couch don’t understand how the elites view us (darned remote that chance may be), we are worker units in their eyes and our duty is to be exploited as much and as efficiently as possible. In their eyes we are less than human. -

Romney Back in the Lead – The Rasmussen Report–Midday Update–August 9, 2012
You may be intrerested in that audio.Darremn;
You are quite possibly the most ignorant individual I have ever come across on the Internet. You spend a prodigous amount of time and bandwidth trying to convince people who are going to vote for Romney that they should vote for Romney. This kind of exercise is not of the type that intelligent individuals pursue.
Furthermore, you seem ignorant of exactly how the Electoral process for choosing a President works in this country, and your Momon glasses seem to be focusing cell killing ultra violet rays onto not only your Objectivity Cortex, but on the Math Sensors and Reading centers of your brain.
The short audio clip you give use here is dated August 9, and its subject is Romney’s popularity nation wide.
But the truly relevant polls are those taken in the so-called “swing states”, like the one I gave us yesterday dated 3 days after the one you just posted. -
That poll is here.
You see, in our system, it really doesn’t matter how popular any candidate is nation wide. Certain states, like Texas, are going to vote their Electors to go to the electoral college and vote for romney—there is no question about that. Other states, like California, are going to do the same for Barack Obama, likewise without any question. So the crux of the biskit is how the twelve states which are “on the fence” will vote, and that is where the true battleground of this election is. If Romney is behind in those states, it doesn’t matter how popular he is in any of the others.
Furthermore, as has been mentioned here before, you seem to be so ignorant as not not be able to discern attacks on your candidate and uncomfortable facts. Mentioning that Romney is behind in those polls is not an attack—it is reporting of a fact. -

(as coca-Cola wasn’t for sale in Libya as it was sold in Israel at that time………) -
Another example of the animalistic nature of some of those people in the Middle East.
Throwing bodies off a roof is one thing.
Having a cheering crowd to greet the falling bodies is another.
Then shooting the dead bodies – guns and cameras – is a whole ‘nother level of inhumanity.
I’m sure there are some nice, wholesome (though I consider them seriously misled) Muslims out there, but scenes like this one turn my stomach and turn my attitude against them. Life means nothing to them. Death means nothing to them. Basic respect is a foreign concept to them.

The activist later added that we should “respect the dead even if they were our enemies,” and assured that the men who were shot and pushed off a roof were given a proper Muslim burial.

Swing State numbers are discouraging right now.Yes,
And the one big negative factor in choosing Ryan is that he’s no help in getting FL—and that has nothing at all to do with Mediscare. Florida has always been a somewhere near 50/50 state. Rubio would have been a better choice, at least as far as those 29 Electoral votes are concerned. -
In case you didn’t know.

I’m withholding any commentary beyond “I like the guy.” until after Labor Day at the earliest and likely until after the conventions.
Ain’t nobody paying attention right now. -
#52 Shannon – I’m not that discouraged with those. I stand by my 4-5% “I’m answering Obama so the pollster won’t think I’m a racist” factor. A poll where Obama is up by 5 points is an indication of a tied race. Using that, CO, FL, IA, NH, OH, VA go to RMoney.
Obamalama – 253
RMoney – 285
I also think NV and WI will go RMoney.
Anecdotal story: I was up in the Detroit area (what a hell-hole) last week meeting with my fellow quality managers at our annual conclave. One of the new guys is from the Milwaukee area. At happy hour one night he got to talking politics. Normally I don’t talk politics with colleagues but he was pushing the issue. He got to talking about the whole Scott Walker fiasco. He prefaced with the fact that he had been a life-long Democrat and had never voted for a Republican, including the 2010 election for Governor, but voted for Walker in the recall. He just could not understand the whole recall thing because, in his words, “Walker did exactly what he said he was going to do during the campaign! And it worked!” -

I respectfully disagree that Ryan will be no help in FL. The old farts in FL need to have it explained so they can understand how their Medicare and their Social Security are going to implode unless real grownups get these hopelessly underfunded systems fixed, and very soon.
Ryan is extremely articulate, and comes across as honest, informed and friendly.
Rubio is OK in most respects but he would mostly help with hispanics, cynical as that sounds. Hispanics are only 25% of the FL population and only 1/2 of them are eligible to vote (for whatever reason — probably being too young is a big one). -
Florida will not go to Obama. That’s my “bold” prediction.
-
RMoney said this year during one of the debates, that on Day 1, should he be elected president, he would sign an EO granting all 57 states an exemption from O-Care until it could be legally repealed. If he does that, and the R majorities in both houses (hopefully) follow through with the repeal, the recovery should be well on the way.

So polls in Texas claiming Dewhurst was ahead or running neck and neck with Ted Cruz were deeply flawed or even deliberately fraudulent, but polls in Florida showing Romney behind are perfectly acceptable.
What a bunch of nonsense.
In Florida, according to the Real Clear Politics poll average Shannon cited in #52, Obama paces Romney by 1.4 points. Wow, what an overwhelming lead ! It’s well within margins of error for these types of polls.
Likewise, the average spread between the incumbent and the challenger in the RCP polling average of 10 swing states is 3.26.
Believe all this polling crap if you like. Personally, I take it with a grain of salt, a very large grain. Carter was polling 9 points ahead of Reagan 9 days before the election in 1980, but Reagan won 44 states to Carter’s 6. And wags want to attribute that to Reagan’s obvious win in the October 28th debate. If you want to buy that, go ahead and waste your gullibility. The pollsters missed the whole thing by 12 miles or they didn’t want to believe Americans would elect Ronald Reagan as their president.
In 2010, the juxtaposition of the pre-election polling in hundreds of state legislative races with the post-election shock and awe of “experts and polling professionals” was palpable and glee inspiring. Nearly 700 state representaives and senators wiped out Democratic majorities from coast to coast. The shame is that the moment the dust settles after they have been proven wrong, pollsters are given a free ride to go right on manipulating and spinning a gullible MSM for pleasure and profit for the next election cycle.
I’ve been following elections closely since being diagnosed with obessive/compulsive political disorder at 8 years old, during the Kennedy-Nixon race in 1960. My personal gut hunches have been right far more than any polls I’ve ever read. I know what I see and hear and the types of indicators I watch for are not the same criteria used by pollsters.
The bottom line on polling, especially national polls, is:
Who you gonna believe, me or your lying eyes ?

Mere statements of fact get twelve paragraph long responses and accusations that are unfounded.
The fact of the matter is that any defense of Romney in this bunch is wasted bandwidth. I am supposing that Squawk will skip the same box I will, but he hasn’t actually said so, IIRC. That’s pretty bad. In fact, it’s a terrifically bad failure of evaluation.
But I didn’t defend Darren’s choices or weak arguments earlier. I simply responded to Sarge’s absurd attack on someone promoting their candidate here or news stories about their popularity. For Sarge to accuse anyone participating, including himself, on this blog of preaching to the choir is thoroughly laughable. Everyone here does it. So what ?
And I wanted to point out the inconcistency of citing polls as reliable in one case and not in the next. -

I guess you’d have to have been in the midst of the debate between Darren and any number of other posters (myself included) over the last few weeks. His perpetual insistence that he is completely objective (when it comes to Romney, and now Huntsman) is just so absurd it’s laughable. I’m certainly no stranger to calling Sarge out, and I also think he’s wrong on the polls (as I said above), but I can understand why Darren’s constant idolization of RMoney elicits a response.
-
And I wanted to point out the inconcistency of citing polls as reliable in one case and not in the next.
The only “poll” I quoted as being unreliable was Burka’s assessment of the Primary where he said the Rural areas were going to win it for Dewcrist.
I repeatedly quoted polls late in the period between the Primary and the Run Off that showed Cruz making deep inroads, and I noted immediately after the primary that I thought he would be the winner. -
I’ll add that had there not been a run-off, all of the polls regarding Dewcrists strength would have been dead on. It was only the run-off and the chance everybody had to send a clear an unmistakeable message to the Establishment that changed the dynamic.

As a kid I always had beagles. Damn fine rabbit dogs. I wouldn’t have one now, in the city. I couldn’t do that to my neighbors.
-
Speaking of which, small Back-Up Dawg and the little, leggy, Psychotic one are lobbying to go out for a walk…. Later 😉

Among moderates, 37 percent see the choice positively; as many, 41 percent, respond negatively. Nonetheless, positive responses among moderates are nearly double what they were before the announcement, with fewer undecided, so, as with the public overall, it’s positive movement, albeit only to about a split decision.
…
As noted, seniors are of interest given Ryan’s proposal to revamp Medicare with a system in which the government would give older Americans a fixed sum with which to buy insurance. They moved in Ryan’s favor, from a 28-28 percent favorable-unfavorable view (before the pick) prospectively to 46-28 percent (after the pick) this weekend.
Younger adults, age 18-39, also moved in Ryan’s favor, but from a more negative view before the announcement, 18-29 percent positive-negative, to a divided one, 34-36 percent.
Ryan also saw a gain among women, a weak group for Romney compared with Obama; favorable views of the choice rose from 19 percent of women last week to 37 percent this weekend. Among men they went from 27 percent previously to a similar 38 percent after the announcement was made.Ouch!

So, was the College Station shooter a member of the Tea Party?
-
Based on relatives identified on local news, here’s his facebook page.
-
Hamous, his FB page says he updated his city to College Station on Jul 19th. I thought I heard that he was being served with an eviction notice. I realize he could have been slow to update it, but I am throwing that out there. This might not be the shooter’s FB page.
-
#52 #57 #58 #59 Shannon, Hambone and mharper42 I tend to agree that Romney has a real good chance in most of the swing states, waht is it 80 sumpin days left?
-
So, was the College Station shooter a member of the Tea Party?
OF COURSE! Goes without saying.
-
TexMo – I’m basing that on news reports who identified and talked to his mother and sister, who are both listed on his FB page.
-
His stepfather told a channel 2 reporter that he was “crazy as hell”.

Serves me right for going to KHOU’s web site.

Yes, news details match family details in his FB.
He likes NASCAR and Dr Strangelove, a bunch of gun inventors such as Colt, Browning, Kalashnikov. Also Glenn Beck, Ronald Reagan, Thomas Paine. Music: ABBA and Johnny Cash. TV: Fox News and Warehouse 13. His profile pix show he is interested in long guns.
Make that WAS. -
I’m surprised his page is still up.

It’s pretty weird, but considering his family is estranged from him and he appears to have no other human connections, the classic psychotic loner, who is going to ask FB to take it down ? -
Max, a fifteen inch beagle, was adopted thru the Houston Beagle Society. I figure he was 16-18 months old. He never has been a leg humper, but he is neutered.
He’s an inside dog, requiring lots of walks. He gets a bath every weekend.
He has a beautiful bay, which he employs at the top of his lungs while he watches you
preparing his food at 5am & 5pm.
Too smart for his own good, too. -
Bumblin’ Joe needs to keep up with this schtick.

In an election year filled with secret campaign money, the Scotts Miracle-Gro Company has made the unlikely choice to go public with a big political donation.
The Ohio-based company, familiar as the producer of a ubiquitous plant fertilizer, is now a political player, donating $200,000 in June to the Restore Our Future super PAC supporting Republican presidential candidate Mitt Romney. When you go down to your local garden center, buy Miracle-Gro.
It’s a difficult decision for a nationwide consumer company in a swing state to make a high profile donation like that. -

Bulwer-Litton Fiction Contest Winners for 2012 announced today.

Winner: Romance
“I’ll never get over him,” she said to herself and the truth of that statement settled into her brain the way glitter settles on to a plastic landscape in a Christmas snow globe when she accepted the fact that she was trapped in bed between her half-ton boyfriend and the wall when he rolled over on to her nightgown and passed out, leaving her no way to climb out.

I hit 187 lbs this morning. Officially 25 lbs. lighter than when I started 51 days ago. So I’ve been losing at an average of 0.5 lbs per day. I’m going for 180 lbs, which is what I weighed when I arrived here in January of 2003.
-
#133 Texpat, man that’s pretty good, but aren’t you over 6′? At 180 you would be pretty dang skinny. My boy is 6′ 1″ and 145, dayaam skinny. I’m 5′ 9″ and at 185 I’m about 15 Lbs over my ideal weight. 😉

OK, for Bob;
Dishonorable Mention:
Professor Lemieux had anticipated that his latest paper would be received with skepticism within the small, fractious circle of professional cosmologists, few of whom were prepared to accept his hypothesis that our universe had been created in a marijuana-induced industrial accident by insectoid aliens; nevertheless, he was stung when Hawking airily dismissed it as the Bug Bong Theory.

For Tedtam;
Dishonorable Mention:
Milton’s quest for the love of Ms. Bradley was a risk but no sorry trivial pursuit yet he hadn’t a clue why she had a monopoly on his heart’s desires – in fact, it boggled his mind and caused him great aggravation because, in his checkered and troubled careers, he had always scrabbled hard and it drove him bonkers that she considered life just a game.

Why do the Rs consistently agree to debates “moderated” by screaming libs who wish they were dead?? Why izzit that a Fox anchor was not allowed to moderate at least one? Two screaming lib moderated debates and 1 middle of the road/slightly right of center would be reasonable and a breath of fresh air. The danger for the libs is that ifn they go to far in attacking the Rs then they risk being outed before the “low information voters” as hopelessly biased and they will lose big time.
Gotta get up early tomorrow am. Y’all enjoy the evening -
Texpat, with results like that I am going to have to check out that book you linked to recently.

Yup, Remember little Georgie Snottuffleupagus and his TOTALLY irrelevant question on birth control?Linking back to Hal’s post on the Obama birth control fiasco and bringing up a new point I think most of us missed when that came out. George Stephanopoulos’ strange and totally unexpected question about birth control during the January 7th republican debate. Most of us ignored it, or saw it as a simple desperate leftist attempt to create the kind of controversy that benefits them, while actually derailing the debate from the topics of importance like the economic disaster the last 3 years have been. Seriously, contraceptives when Obama is running trillion dollar plus annual deficits, adding $5 trillion to the debt in a short 3 years, unemployment is sky-high despite the fudged reported numbers, and the economy is moving slower than a snail? But in hindsight, the Stephanopoulos question seems to point to an even greater controversy than the question itself, the timing of the question, the Obama contraceptives mandate, and the recent efforts to back off of it considering the negative backlash, combined.
Snip~
But there is a bigger issue here that nobody has yet brought up: was Stephanopoulos working for the WH when he asked his question during the republican debate? Feeling the ground or hoping to create some controversy that the WH, which was planning this contraceptive mandate, could use for political gain? Sure, it all could be a coincidence, but considering the track record of how the left works, their past transgressions of this kind, and how they love to coordinate their “message”, I think the odds of Islamic radicals suddenly becoming mother Theresa-like care givers and completely turning on their violent ways, are better. No, I think we can, and with certitude, point out that there has to be a connection here, and that it basically again shows how the LSM is completely in the pocket of the left. Basically it now looks like Stephanopoulos was doing the WH’s dirty work for them. Expect a lot more of that. In fact, we should all be wondering how much more of this is going on that we have not yet caught on to. -

One more Obama prediction gone bust. IIRC he predicted a $44B loss. Now it’s “only” $25B.
The Treasury Department says in a new report the government expects to lose more than $25 billion on the $85 billion auto bailout. That’s 15 percent higher than its previous forecast.
Say anyone know how the fiscal conservative Paul Ryan voted on TARP and the automobile company bailout?
Just want to make sure he’s not blowing smoke about newly minted principles. 😉 -
I think we need to wait for our resident representative of the CotR to explain Ms. Gonzalez to us ignant gender binaries.

The most watched event in US television history?
And I missed it?The XXX Summer Games has hit TV Gold. With 219.4 million viewers NBC’s broadcast of the 2012 Olympics has become the most-watched event in U.S. TV history. Having hit the second most-watched mark last Thursday, the London Games has now surpassed the 215 million who watched the 2008 Beijing Games.

Yeah, I peaked at about 6’2″, but disc compression over the years takes it toll. I’m about 6′-1.5″ now.
I felt best at 180 though I haven’t seen that weight in years.
SD, I am slender, light-boned and 180-185 would be ideal for my build. -
Age isn’t so much a stooping as a spinal compression. My 6’6″ husband has lost 2 inches and I’ve shrunk about 1 1/2″.

Well, thanks to Tim’s #141, I finally got up the nerve to read the “sc**w anything” post. I had avoided it because I was afraid it was that story I saw a headline for, about people arrested for animal cruelty and sex with a dog. I think Pyro linked to that here today. Me, I don’t wanna know anything about it.
The other stuff: no animals or non-consenting beings are presumably involved. But why oh why do they want us to know about their sexual preferences? Do they really expect approval? -

Here is Gary Taubes’ Amazon book page. -
Texpat, everyone is different, my dad was 5′ 10” and weighed 225 when he retired @ 55, within 6 months he weighed 180, perfect weight for his slightly stocky build. I’m slim with wide shoulders and I have a 34″ waist, same as I did when I was 30, and if you saw me, you prolly wouldn’t think that I was fat, no gut or anything, BUTT I do need to loose at least 10 Lbs.

Three Pro-Obumma propagandists to moderate the debates.
Communist News Network’s Candy Crowley, Complete Barack Shill’s Bob Sheeefer and Profuse Barack Shill’s Jim Leher.
Upon agreeing to these three moderators (propagandists) the Stupid Party released this video to explain why it agreed to these propagandists disguised as moderators.

Aha!!! We just got back from a friend’s house and after I heard something about golf I kept trying to remember where I read that “China” offered insurance for a hole-in-one. It was from your post which I read this morning. (And it was Japan, not China). I knew I read about it somewhere.

How many voters do you think will change their minds based on debates? My guess is very few.
I agree. And although the most anticipated debate is nw justifiably Ryan vs Biden, I’ve always said that Romney can clean the floor with Obama. We’ll see how that turns out.
-
hamous #37;
so Shrillary can be put on the ticket.
I’d watch her debate Ryan just as excitedly. Even if the scheduled debate is cancelled before Hillary steps in, she’s gotta step in the ring with Ryan at some time. Americans shall demand it!!! 😈

Sarge;
Thanks, and thanks for the email message. It touched me deeply.

You do realize I was answering your question as to why Romney was down in the polls, right? Looks like your recent baptism hasn’t done you much good. -

The swing states aren’t looking too good right now. I’m hoping that when Romney’s warchest is fully opened after the convention he can help change those numbers. -

I respectfully disagree that Ryan will be no help in FL. The old farts in FL need to have it explained so they can understand how their Medicare and their Social Security are going to implode unless real grownups get these hopelessly underfunded systems fixed, and very soon.
Ryan is extremely articulate, and comes across as honest, informed and friendly.Ryan already pols well with seniors and although they can get whipped up into a frenzy over their promised socialized healthcare, the only reason Paul Ryan fails to resonate more with seniors will be due to Republicans allowing the Democrats to define Ryan and not Ryan and the party itself. Rush pointed out today that part of the Romney/Ryan CBS interview did not make it to the final cut. That part is when Ryan says that his own mother resides in Florida and is on Medicare. Ryan explained that he is not going to cut her benefits or any other senior citizen’s benefits under his plan. I think Rush justifiably showed how the media is in conjucntion with the Democrats to define Ryan’s plan as radical and as one which will cut seniors off from their promised benefits. Defining Ryan’s plan as one that saves Medicare by reforming entitlements should be Mitt Romney’s, Paul Ryan’s and the Republican Party’s top priority. (And in that pecking order though it should be Romney’s plan presented since he’s the head of the ticket but that also means that the main responsibility is his.)
Rush also pointed out that Ryan’s Medicare plan was written also by Rep. Wydan. Rush pointed out that he is far left. Here’s a little on Wydan:It’s the brainchild of Democratic Sen. Ron Wyden, a progressive Medicare champion who once led a Gray Panthers chapter in Oregon, and Rep. Paul Ryan (R-Wis.), chairman of the Budget Committee and darling of tea party conservatives.
What The Wyden-ryan Plan Tells Us About Obama And Romney
This will NEVER come out in the media but it can easily be conveyed by the Republicans by simply slipping in Wydan’s mention when they talk about Medicare.
I agree with Hamous that Florida will go to Romney. -
You are one nasty little piece of work, you know that?
LOL!!!
No problem. I can be surly and combative, but I won’t go nasty.
Are you for real?
You are quite possibly the most ignorant individual I have ever come across on the Internet. You spend a prodigous amount of time and bandwidth trying to convince people who are going to vote for Romney that they should vote for Romney. This kind of exercise is not of the type that intelligent individuals pursue.
Furthermore, you seem ignorant of exactly how the Electoral process for choosing a President works in this country, and your Momon glasses seem to be focusing cell killing ultra violet rays onto not only your Objectivity Cortex, but on the Math Sensors and Reading centers of your brain. That wasn’t “nasty”? smearing my faith right in my face wasn’t nasty? you and the two other babosos are free to worship the way you want but don’t be surprised that when you publicly use my faith against me to dictate my nature and my politics that you dn’t get stung in return.
This is, after all the new tone on this site, isn’t it? And my undersanting is that it’s a proud tone. (Heh, the Bible talks about pride, so does the Catechism) -
Ok, let’s all calm down.
With all due respect Hamous but it was you who set the tone on this. I first asked you to stop using my faith against me. You boastfully replied yesterday that you would not “oblige”. You then set out to reinforce the mockery. It hurt, Hamous. Even our residential athiest shows far more Christian faith than you did. as you can see, that tone has taken a nastier path, yet it was after my post that you call for calmness? Good grief, hamous. You say you’re Mr. Ecumenical, yet I stand here wondering where the h*ll that belief is or what worth it is to yu, if at all.
/I need to calm down and gather my thoughts on this. -
Man the frik up Nancy.
-
Hamus;
OK, here we go.
There was a *lot* more I wanted to say to you and it wasn’t at all pretty. That’s when my conscience sad “STOP!!!”. That was God’s voice guiding me to cease what I wanted to do and showed me a better way. First and foremost, it seems clear that my post yesterday was inappropriate in how I reacted to Sarge. I am not appologizing one bit for declaring the stupidity of telling me that I have “Mormon glasses” and that that is why I support a Mormon for president. That is stupid and not at all becoming of Christian conduct. Nor does it perpetuate anything good. To me, the bottom line is if someone supports someone for president, than the dialogue should be as to why. It should not call anyone’s character and especially one’s faith into question. However, I think I used a combative tone against you yesterday when I expressed myself and that was uncalled for. To that end I appologize and to that end I understand the sort of rant you went on yesterday. I seem to have initiated that.
I do ask understanding that I have laid out clearly, as clear as possible, my positions and why I ffer support for Romney and was curious ver Huntsman inthe past. Yet they all seem to have been ignored, in no less part by you, and my religion was scraped up and tossed right at me. Why?
As you can see, this has opened up a channel to get ugly. What part of Sarge’s #47 post do you find appropriate? Any of it? Not only did he completely miss the purpose of my #18 post but his derogatory tone was clearly following and expanding on your own lead. Furthermore, the tone of my #18 post was not in any way combative and after his rant was there a call for calmness? Why not?
As for the content of dialoguing, let me just say that it is my position that nobody can show how Mitt Romney’s less than conservative now. The only ammunition people have is his past record. In an of itself that’s fair game and note that I have never challenged the notion that Mitt did liberal things in the past. But also note that so did Ronald Reagan. Why did Reagan change and not Romney? Romney’s very much like Reagan in what Romney supports now. Romney’s definitely no spokesperson like Reagan was and Romney falls way short in presenting conservatism as an ideologue as Reagan effectively did, but what about Romney now is not conservative? I’m not even criticizing people who are not convinced of Romney’s conservatism, that’s fair game. Romney did things in the past and now he wants the conservative vote. In lots of ways he needs to sit in the hole he dug. If people are skeptical, then that is most definitely in part Romney’s own fault; though I still maintain that he was overall a conservative governor and he’ll be a conservative president. Heck, he just formed a very conservative ticket based on very conservative ideas.
During the course of dialogue on this site I think at a very minimum any regular blogger’s faith here should be off limits to be used as weapons against that person. It advances nothing except to render one another as enemies. Using another’s religion and/or religious background against that person will get very ugly very quick.
(I do want to note that I have used another’s faith here against him but only *after* that person made, and made frequently, absurd accusations against Christians. I find such a reaction fair game. I also question other group’s Christianity like the Westboro Baptists but that’s based on their behavior, not beliefs. The Episcopalians Shannon has posted on I think merit a questioning of, at among certain parts of their population, Christianity. Claiming to be Christian and simultaneously rejecting Jesus as Son of God and LORD and/or Redeemer admittedly makes me scratch my head in confusion.)
I appreciate your consideration. -
Sarge #182;
Man the frik up Nancy.
I agree:
Furthermore, you seem ignorant of exactly how the Electoral process for choosing a President works in this country, and your Momon glasses seem to be focusing cell killing ultra violet rays onto not only your Objectivity Cortex, but on the Math Sensors and Reading centers of your brain.
Thank you for your apology. I really do apreciate it. I appologize for snearing your faith but understand I did so *only* to point out how demeaning and inappropriate. I hold your baptism in high regards and I do not think that it, nor anyon else’s faith, should be used against them to degrade their character or to dictate their physique. I do believe I’ve been *very* consistant with that standard in my posts during the years. But, nevertheless, I did snear your baptism. Notwithstanding my intent was being not to smear it but to let you know how it can sting to smear another’s faith, I nevertheless hit back at you. It was God who has declared upon us believers the higher law which did away with an eye-for-an-eye and commanded that we forgive one another. I ask your forgiveness for my trespasses upon you and hope and pray the very best for you and yours.

Vice President Joe Biden spoke before a crowd of 660 people in Durham, N.C., at the Durham Armory during a campaign stop for President Barack Obama on Monday.
Biden’s appearance before a comparatively meager crowd came a day after the newly formed Republican ticket — presidential candidate Mitt Romney and running mate Paul Ryan — rallied a crowd of over 10,000 in High Point, N.C., about an hour away, and a crowd of approximately 4,700 people in Mooresville, N.C., about two-and-a-half hours away.Goooooo, Biden. …and my religion was scraped up and tossed right at me.
I have no idea what you’re talking about. No one has in any way denigrated your religious beliefs during this whole discussion. Several people including me have pointed out, accurately in my view, that you’re not objective when it comes to Romney and Huntsman. From my perspective you speak favorably of them in large part because they’re Mormon like you. In no way is that “scraping up your religion”. 93% of Mormons voted for Romney in Arizona’s primary. That’s up there with 95% of blacks voting for Obama. And its certainly strong evidence that there’s a lack of objectivity among Mormon voters. I don’t care. I don’t understand why you’re so bent out of shape about this.
Finally, when you start digging up old revisionist history Democrat talking points about Reagan while trying to make an argument for Romney, well, you’ve lost the argument with me. -
If being called ignorant is the worst thing you’re alled while discussing politis on the internet, consider yourself lucky. I’ve been called a liar and worse. You’ve talked a lot about puttingon your “big boy pants” when using snark on me—go find them and put them on. You seem perfectly capable of dishing this kind of thing out, but when the going gets tough you go looking for reenforcements and do the whiny cry baby thing.
