I was always suspicious of El Gordo’s claim of living down on Galveston Bay. Now we know it was a ruse and he’s been commenting here all this time from his palatial fortress outside of Guadalajara.

You know Bobo, you’re a walking, talking, squawking, new age cliche. You’re a bumper sticker personified. Once one gets past the fact that you add nothing substantive to a serious discussion among adults other than the same tired old left-wing mumble jumble, you’re actually kinda funny, although not in the way you fancy yourself. By the way, whoever told you you were a “satirist” was pulling your leg, I believe. I don’t think they’re laughing with you.

Now that you mention it, Sartre pretty much sums up Bobo’s philosophy. He’s an existentialist at heart. That reminds me of a line from an Eagles song: I’d like to find your inner child and kick its little ass.

Retired Green Beret shoots intruder in his home then endures court martial over the event.
I am rather shocked about the decision he made that required that the court martial be convened.
The charges against Taylor were considered to be serious. He is a retired Special Forces Weapons Sergeant with extensive combat experience during the wars in Korea and Vietnam.
“Charges were brought against him under the premise that he should have saved the county and taxpayers the expense of a trial,” said Chapter XXXIII President Bill Long of Asheville. “He could have used a .45 or .38. The .22 just wasn’t big enough to get the job done.”
Taylor’s defense attorney, another retired Weapons Sergeant, disagreed. He said Taylor had done the right thing in choosing to arm himself with a .22.
“If he’d used a .45 or something like that the round would have gone right through the perp, the wall, the neighbor’s wall and possibly injured some innocent child asleep in its bed,” he said. “I believe the evidence shows that Smokey Taylor exercised excellent judgment in his choice of weapons. He did nothing wrong, and clearly remains to this day an excellent weapons man.”

When I was in my 20’s, I couldn’t bend it with both hands. By the time I was in my 40’s I could bend it a little with both hands. Now that I’m in my 60’s, I can bend it with one hand. How much stronger do you think I will get as I continue to age?

I have posted on the front page Fast & Furious Scandal Compendium.
It is the sizeable product of two members of new media who devoted more than a year to the report. They should be recognized and congratulated for their efforts.
A Journalist’s Guide to Project Gunwalker is comprised of eight very lengthy sections, each with voluminous sourcing and links.
Be sure to save the post for future reference unless, of course, you don’t mind looking like an insipid, jejune half-wit.

#14 Hamous, there may be hope for you after all. At least you’re not calling me a nihilist (again) and you’re even partially correct for a change. There are some aspects of existentialism that do make sense to me. There are others I could not disagree with more. Others still are archaic and proven false by contemporary understandings of neurology and biology. But one needs to understand that the philosophy is far from monolithic among those who claim it, and even farther from authoritarian dogmatic philosophies.

Roger Simon at PJMedia with When Leaders Lie
Barack Obama is another matter. According to Buzzfeed’s Ben Smith (normally a loyal member of the administration’s media claque), no less than thirty-eight documented falsehoods in the president’s memoir Dreams from My Father were revealed by David Maraniss’s new book Barack Obama: The Story.
What’s interesting about those falsehoods (can we call them lies?) is that they were unprovoked. We are used to presidential lies, most notably from Nixon and Clinton, but we know full well why those men were lying. In fact, in their cases it was obvious. In Obama’s, we do not.
Why was he lying? Self-aggrandizement? To sell books? For political purposes? Dreams from My Father was written before Obama supposedly had presidential ambitions. Or was there a hint, dare I say it, of pathology?

So where is the increase in public resentment that is the basis for your conspiracy theory?
The only increase in public resentment is against the current administration for their outright contempt and attacks on our constitutional republic. THE FACT THAT THEY FAILED MISERABLY AT THEIR OBJECTIVE DOES NOT NEGATE THEIR DESIRE TO ACHIEVE THE OBJECTIVE.
The failure of achieving the objective does not absolve anyone of the crimes involved in the methods used in the attempt. Surely you can understand that Bobo4:19 -

#32 Hey, my vocabulary is pretty good (at least I know the difference between existentialism and nihilism.) One has a lot of opportunity to read while living in his mother’s basement, smoking cannabis, and living on generous welfare checks and food stamps.

Another example of kids raised by whimpy parents.
Last Friday, an attaché of important gay people from Philadelphia made a trip to Washington D.C. as invited guests of President Barack Obama for the White House’s first-ever gay pride reception. There, they danced to the sounds of a Marine Corps band; they dined on crab cakes and canapés; they hand-delivered letters from concerned citizens like this 18-year old who has had four people close to him gunned down, and noted rhyming raconteur CA Conrad; and some of them took advantage of photo opportunities to give the late President Ronald Reagan the middle finger.

Mine’s not. I know that “jejum” is Portuguese for “fasting” as in abstaining from food for a certain amount of time. So with that in mind I found it interesting to see the following definition for “jejune”:
1: lacking nutritive value
2: devoid of significance or interest : dull
3: juvenile, puerile

I would read this if I were you. The author makes his living in the software world and knows what he’s talking about.
It’s actually kind of a bizarre story. Your computer connects to the Internet using DNS numbers. Some bad guys in Estonia ran a fake advertising scheme and infected a shitload of computers around the world with a DNS hijacking program which changed the computer’s DNS numbers. It would still connect with the Internet just fine, albeit occasionally the user might find some new browser window open advertising this or that, which is how the bad guys made their money.
Enter the authorities, who catch the bad guys but then are faced with a problem. If they had just confiscated their servers, every infected machine on the planet would have immediately lost its Internet connection — and without the owners having the slightest idea why.
Rather than risk global anarchy, the FBI substituted the servers with some rental servers to give people time to clean up their computers, but time is running out and the servers are going to be unplugged this July 10th. There’s already been one court-ordered ‘stay’ of 3 months, and it doesn’t look like there’s going to be another.
The reason anti-virus programs don’t catch the little rascal is because it’s not actually a virus; it’s not even a program, just a web file. The second someone clicked on the original fraudulent ad, the damage was done. No file was ever downloaded so there wasn’t anything for the anti-virus program to analyze and stop.

And the hits just keep on coming…
Embezzlement. Wire fraud. Bribery. That’s just scratching the surface of crimes committed by the IUOE ranks. And it is from this union that President Obama earlier this year picked one of his latest appointees to the National Labor Relations Board, the federal agency tasked with resolving labor disputes between unions and management.
That recess appointee, Richard Griffin, was former general counsel for the 400,000-member union of heavy equipment operators — a union tainted over the years by mob connections and a history of corruption.
Public documents obtained by Fox News show that more than 60 IUOE members have been arrested, indicted or jailed in the last decade on charges that include labor racketeering, extortion, criminal enterprise, bodily harm and workplace sabotage.
In some of the more egregious examples, federal prosecutors alleged in February 2003 that the Genovese and Colombo crime families wrested control of two IUOE locals, and stole $3.6 million from major New York area construction projects — including the Museum of Modern Art and minor league baseball stadiums for the Yankees and Mets in Staten and Coney Islands.

I’m not surprised though. Nobody here was able to provide any rational reasons for their support of DOMA or the other purposefully discriminatory laws they support. At least Darren was honest enough to admit why he thinks he has the right to dictate to others how they should live, via the force of large and intrusive government acting on his behalf.

Federal regulations can be maddening, but none more so than a current one that demands oil refiners use millions of gallons of a substance, cellulosic ethanol, that does not exist.
“As ludicrous as that sounds, it’s fact,” says Charles Drevna, who represents refiners. “If it weren’t so frustrating and infuriating, it would be comical.”
And Tom Pyle of the Institute of Energy Research says, “the cellulosic biofuel program is the embodiment of government gone wild.”
Refiners are at their wit’s end because the government set out requirements to blend cellulosic ethanol back in 2005, assuming that someone would make it. Seven years later, no one has.
A government run by idiotic nomenklatura.

Erotic Justice ?
This is what passes for seriousness at the G+20 Earth Summit.
Obama couldn’t squeeze in the Summit between tee times so he sent Secretary of State Clinton instead. I don’t blame him.
Giant tents in the park house five chief plenary discussions and scores of smaller tents shelter a wide variety of earnest discussions about the perfidy of corporations in this age of late capitalism. As it happens, I just caught the tail-end of a speech at the Energy Plenary by an American black woman who urged the audience to fight for “economic, social, gender, and erotic justice.” Evidently fearing that she had overlooked an oppressed group, she hastily made sure to acknowledge that the fight for justice included “transpeople too.”
Scattered among the tents are perhaps a couple hundred booths from which interest groups from around the world peddle their nostrums for whatever discontents with the modern world particularly irk them. For example, the Global Ecovilllage Network was there to urge people to practice “luxurious simplicity.” An Ecovillage brochure specifically cited a Senegalese program to transition 14,000 traditional villages into ecovillages. The program is being supported by a $16 million grant from the Global Environment Facility. By the way, per capita GDP in Senegal is just over $1,000. Luxury indeed.

Erotic Justice ?
This is what passes for seriousness at the G+20 Earth Summit.
Obama couldn’t squeeze in the Summit between tee times so he sent Secretary of State Clinton instead. I don’t blame him.Giant tents in the park house five chief plenary discussions and scores of smaller tents shelter a wide variety of earnest discussions about the perfidy of corporations in this age of late capitalism.

#53 I suspect that you’re hinting around a new iteration of a tired, old, long debunked, justification for government sanctioned bigotry that didn’t fly 40+ years ago and still doesn’t fly today.
Your premise is flawed. Since DOMA isn’t discriminatory there’s no need to provide reasons.
But I don’t want to jump to any conclusions. Could you please be more specific before I point out the logical fallacies in your denial of reality?
DOMA is not discriminatory because? (Hint: Just cuz you say it isn’t doesn’t fly either.)

Bob:

First, I don’t believe for a second that you actually want an answer. Second, I don’t believe that given an answer you are actually willing to give it any consideration.
BUT, even though I realize that it’s probably a fool’s errand and a complete wast of time, here goes. . . .
The DOMA act is not discriminatory because (here it goes) it does not discriminate. It simply defines the legal term “marriage” as the recognized union of a one man and one woman. It makes no attempt whatsoever to limit or define who can marry and who can’t. ANY adult can marry (assuming that they aren’t already). It makes no difference as to your race, gender, religious belief, country of origin, political affiliation, philosophical leanings, field of employment, etc. Whoever you are, if you want to marry, simply find someone of the opposite gender to agree and you too can enjoy the benefits of a marital relationship.
By the way, please note that it does not define marriage as the fruit of a sexual relationship.
Only someone with another axe to grind would find such a neutral document “discriminatory”.

That is precisely the same fallacious logic and word weaseling people stopped using 40+ years ago to self-righteously, irrationally, and defensively declare that laws defining marriage as only between two people of the same race did not result in discrimination.
It did result in discrimination, and so does DOMA. Those people were wrong back then, and y’all are wrong now.
But have a nice weekend anyway.

The American Fuel & Petrochemical Manufacturers Association and the Western States Petroleum Association jointly sued the US Environmental Protection Agency over its decision to require refiners to blend cellulosic ethanol or pay the agency for waiver credits from being unable to blend fuels which do not yet exist.
The Oil & Gas Journal published an article some time during the past two or three weeks that highlighted the total fines already paid by the refiners through last year. I do not recall the exact amount, but it was definitely a seven to eight figure number.

bob #49;
#45 Hamous, I reckon you missed it.
That links to DOMA. There’s also:
At least Darren was honest enough to admit why he thinks he has the right to dictate to others how they should live, via the force of large and intrusive government acting on his behalf.
Let’s not forget that the reasons I cited were that a) I have freedom of speech b) I have elected representatives c) I use my sense of morality to determine the types of laws I support or not under my elected representatives. Likewise bob42 has a) freedom of speech b) elected representatives c) uses his sense of morality to determine the types of laws he supports or doesn’t. Here’s the difference, I support using my elected representatives to create laws. Bob uses the federal government to dictate what laws my elected representatives may make. If bob doesn’t like the laws I support, bob has no problem declaring it “mob rule” and supports the federal government, via the judiciary, to shut it down. When the federal government creates a law bob likes and dictates this law upon everyone, he has no problem supporting that law.
DOMA recognizes traditional marriage at the federal level. This includes when a married couple crosses state lines which is inherently under federal authority via the Constitution. It does not prohibit states from creating their own laws including recognizing gay marriage. At the state level it’s determined by the people’s elected representatives. I do not, nor does anyone here, support the federal government dictating to the states what types of marriages ought to be recognized. The only exception I can think of is that since liberals, including bob, support redefining marriage in a dictorial manner, even at the federal level, that only a US cnostitutional amendment would create a sufficient safeguard against what people like myself think is destructive to society. Even then there is division as to supporting a constitutional amendment. But note that creating such an amendment would require advocating support for suchan amendment to garner huge amounts of supports for it tha the vast majority of the people’s elected representatives will vote for it. That’s not mob rule, not dictorial. That’s a rebublic-styled democracy, which is far superior to guard against tyranny than allowing the federal government to dictate its will upon the states via the judiciary.
Also bob;
You called out Texpat and called into question his very integrity regarding Fast and Furious. Take time to at least read the cover of his stellar post today in whioch he did just that. His post goes far above and beyond answering your challenge to him that the only appropriate recourse you should have at this point would be to bend down and lick the tips of his Red Wing (or whatever they are called) boots after he returns home from a muddy day at work. You should be curled up somewhere sucking your thumb after reading what he wrote to answer your personal challenge to him. -
I found the fine amount here.
Cellulosic ethanol is not yet commercial, but our politicians and the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) are apparently not aware of that fact since they are mandating U.S. refiners to blend it into petroleum products or pay a fine. Refiners will be required to pay about $6.8 million in penalties for not blending enough cellulosic ethanol into gasoline in 2011. Even though cellulosic producers did not sell a single gallon of cellulosic ethanol commercially in 2010 and it is not clear if they sold any cellulosic ethanol in 2011, EPA has mandated that refiners blend even more cellulosic ethanol in 2012.

Bob,
Unless you can prove that homosexuality is a matter of genetics and not simply a choice you are wrong. Being born a negro is a demonstrable overt physical characteristic. Homosexuality is determined by a person’s actions.
To equate the two is irrational and the last refuge of scoundrels.
Or, to put is a different way: The specific response you’ve given is “it’s discriminatory because I say it’s discriminatory.”

Bob,
Why is it necessary for Bill & Ted to actually get a marriage certificate and call themselves married? Right now Bill & Ted can do all of the following:
1. Live together
2. Purchase a house, car, or other personal property together.
3. Rent personal property together.
4. Take out loans and other financial instruments together.
5. They are afforded benefits such as medical, dental, and vision coverage as a partner.
6. They can bequeath any manner of property or other assets to each other via a will or trust.Where is the discrimination against Bill & Ted? I do not see it. As far as my religious beliefs, marriage is a Holy Sacrament that is only available through and with God. It is not just signing a piece of paper at the JP’s office. I believe that it is our wandering away from traditional marriage and a nuclear family that is the root of many of our societal woes.
I am perfectly content to let Bill & Ted go about their business, live their lives, and do what ever makes them happy behind their closed bedroom door. Since the LGBT community has made so much progress in the past 25 years for equality and I do not see discrimination going on here, I can only conclude that the LGBT community is trying desperately to legitimize their way of life on a higher moral plane. If that is the case, then perhaps their is some small kernel of doubt in their mind about their lifestyle. That is pure speculation on my part because for the life of me I can not figure out why this is such a big issue to them. They have the equality they have been seeking all along. This is why I laugh at their spin that this is a civil rights issue.
For me I will continue to promote that archaic notion of a traditional marriage set forth in the Holy Scriptures and Holy Tradition.

A few days ago I posted a rationalization of the definition of marriage based upon cultural norms, societal stability, and human anatomy. None of it has to do with any of Bob’s biases, stated so far. Either it was missed or everyone thought it wasn’t worth comment. If it was missed, maybe I’ll have time to look for it later. Maybe. I am still way behind in my paperwork (a forever kinda of task) and I still have to put away groceries, cook dinner, do daughter duty for my mother, and then wade into my eyeball high stack of work.
I don’t have time to go look for it right now – my momma’s waiting for some clean clothes and I must deliver them. The image of my mom running around the nursing home nekkid is a brain bleach kinda thing, and I need to make sure it doesn’t happen.
Carry on.

As Seinfeld said a long time along: “Not that there is anything wrong with that.” Being gay, that is. But what is the deal with the in-your-face Gay Pride meat parades? Tres yucky.
If only GLBT would be content that no one really cares about their sex life. Marriage isn’t primarily about anyone’s sex life.

my #64 – now $591,587.00
and my comment on “these lil $excrements$ now are apologizing thread…….
These PSEUDO parents are 10,000% responsible for this INEXCUSABLE and REPREHENSIBLE behavior! These little heathens should’ve had “Yes Ma’am No Ma’am 3 bags FULL Ma’am” firmly ingrained in their little skulls of mush before they even knew what a school bus IS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
If ANY of my 5 Grandbabies ever come within a 100 miles of THIS kind of behavior then I’ll need someone to pass the hat for BAIL money! (if my Son or Daughter don’t get a hold of then first) because I’ll be paddling butts and taking names – END of STORY

Katfish, one of the comments;
As much as those little punks deserve all the public shame they are receiving, I don’t think booking a 13-year-old for being as ass is going to accomplish anything.
I’m undecided on that point but I’ll tell you that when I was about 8 yrs old when I hid a neighbor girl’s little riding toy tractor and told them some guys came and stole it, the police questioning (knowing I was lying) had a very lasting effect.

I was paddled once in third grade because I whacked a fellow student on the head with my notebook, but I only did it because I liked him.

When I was in Jr. High School, it was a badge of studly honor to get swats from the universally reviled Vice-Principal. Everybody thought you were super cool…especially the girls.
So much for the stigma of corporal punishment.

Every Wednesday, just after lunch, the line formed to Coach Bailey’s office. 3 swats echoing through the halls one by one.
Your right, that was a badge to wave. Never thought about it, but I was one of the cool kids anyway. 😀

When I was a sophomore in High School I got 5 swats from the vice-principal that everyone hated. It definitely improved my social standing, but it was one of the most painful ordeals I’ve ever experienced. There was no social stigma – but I guarantee I did whatever was necessary to make sure I never got swats again.

Heh! I was spanked twice really hard by my second grade teacher because I peed on my friends writing assignment. You can guess who my favorite all time elementary school teacher was.

From Guy Benson;
First, a mea culpa: I’m several weeks late to this story, but it’s so significant that I figured I’d adopt a “better late than never” approach and bring this to your attention anyway:
Wisconsin membership in the American Federation of State, County and Municipal Employees – the state’s second-largest public-sector union after the National Education Association, which represents teachers – fell to 28,745 in February from 62,818 in March 2011, according to a person who has viewed Afscme’s figures. A spokesman for Afscme declined to comment. Much of that decline came from Afscme Council 24, which represents Wisconsin state workers, whose membership plunged by two-thirds to 7,100 from 22,300 last year.
A provision of the Walker law that eliminated automatic dues collection hurt union membership. When a public-sector contract expires the state now stops collecting dues from the affected workers’ paychecks unless they say they want the dues taken out, said Peter Davis, general counsel of the Wisconsin Employment Relations Commission. In many cases, Afscme dropped members from its rolls after it failed to get them to affirm they want dues collected, said a labor official familiar with Afscme’s figures. In a smaller number of cases, membership losses were due to worker layoffs.
Another reason the Supreme Court’s recent decision that unions cannot force collect “loans” to pay to political campaigns is so important. The Democrat racket of money “donated” to them has taken a big hit recently.
