Squawk;
LOL, look at the title I just found. 🙂
On economic policy, for example, he would limit the government budget to 20 percent of GDP, slash $500 billion in his first term, and restrain Medicaid, food stamps, and other entitlement transfers before block-granting them to the states. His Medicare reform is near identical to the Wyden-Ryan approach. He’s for a true, all-of-the-above energy policy that would take the regulatory handcuffs off drilling on federal lands. He would repeal Obamacare. And he has come up with a supply-side tax cut that lowers marginal rates by 20 percent across-the-board and drops the corporate tax to 25 percent.
These are very conservative positions. One can seriously ask whether Romney isn’t the most conservative presidential candidate since Ronald Reagan.
On fiscal issues, yes he is.
On the night of his big Illinois victory, Romney offered a moral exposition of the merits of economic freedom and free-enterprise business. And all the while, he mockingly referred to Professor Obama, who has no clue about what makes business tick.
Romney railed against overregulation, noting that Obama’s regulators would have shut down the Wright brothers for their “dust pollution.” He said the Obama government “would have banned Thomas Edison’s light bulb,” adding, “Oh. That’s right. They just did.”
Heh. Come on, you know that’s funny.

Now it’s just see what the opposition is, shake the etch-a-sketch and redraw the lines. -

Just checking for consistancy.
and
If he were running today you’d criticize him for promising to cut taxes but as governor he raised taxes, wouldn’t you?
Welp that ends the discussion right there. You can’t defend Romnuts so you think you have to check for consistency in me. Trying to compare Romnuts to Reagan is laughable. Reagan defended and stood for his principles for over 30 years. He then did all within his power to institute those policies. Romnuts? He wakes up, wets his finger and looks to see which way the winds are blowing.
And the reason we have to track so far back to Reagan is because you probably didn’t vote for anyone since then.
And just like Romnuts you argue on conjecture and assumption. First all you do not know, second of all it is none of your business, third of all you are hinting that if I do not vote I have no say. I would challenge you to show me in the Constitution where that rule is.
This is a wonderful day God has made so I am going to enjoy and be glad in it.

The Texas-sized dog is also topped with sautéed onions, shredded cheese, jalapenos and chili and served with a side of French fries.
Ouch!
At a price of $26, the entrée is meant for sharing with three or more people.

Why has it taken so long for everyone else to recognize the chronic injustices that African Americans face?

Speaking of Manning & Tebow, Pat Robertson (who is apparently actually still alive – who knew?) sez that Manning should get injured as retribution for the Broncos trading Tebow.
He belongs in the “butter slid off noodles” club with Beck.

#19: from your linkie:
“And you just ask yourself,” Robertson said, “OK, so Peyton Manning was a tremendous MVP quarterback, but he’s been injured. If that injury comes back, Denver will find itself without a quarterback. And in my opinion, it would serve them right.”
It looks like Denver has put all its eggs in the Manning basket with not much to fall back on should he get hurt. The way it was handled was “less than charitable” to Tebow. I don’t really see how he was hoping that Manning gets injured as much as I see him throwing rocks at Elway for leaving himself vunnable if Manning should get hurt again, which is more likely than not given his history. Manning’s neck is weaker than it was and will likely have less mobility; a real hard shot could easily leave him paralyzed or dead.

Bonus: The terms “stripper” and “stripper pole” are helpfully defined and the traditional venues for each are described.

Welp that ends the discussion right there. You can’t defend Romnuts so you think you have to check for consistency in me.
squawk;
I’ve defended Romney all along. he’ll be a very good president I think. He’ll lower taxes, uphold the prestige of the US military, nominate a constitutionalist ot the Supreme Court, and if not balance the budget, he’ll vastly improve it. This November there will be only two people who wikll be the next president elect ofthe United States: Mitt Romney and Barak Obama and I can promise you with 100% assurance that Obama will do none of the above if re-elected.
Ass for comparing him to reagan, there is much you can compare and one of which I brought up last night is that he is no less vague as to how he will govern as Reagan was when you voted for him.
Reagan defended and stood for his principles for over 30 years.
Wow, I always heard that he governed California far more liberally than he did the nation. I don’t think what I’ve heard is inaccurate. And I think you and many others would be quite surprised how conservatively Romney governed Massachusetts. This I concluded way back in 2008 when I initially have very deep aprehensions in supporting him. Yes, there are his liberal moments in his governance of the state but overall he wasa pretty conservative governor in a very liberal state. his conservatism is evolving and I say he’s even more conservative now than he was in 2008 and he’ll be more so in the future.
third of all you are hinting that if I do not vote I have no say
I’ve said no such thing and it wasn’t even remotely close to being on my mind but brining it up I will say that not voting, not even writing someone else’s name in will result in giving you less of an ear when you complain about how bad government is. But this is specificaly relegated to moments of complaints. As for your overall person, your dedication to being a good being and your devotion to learn and study will always have lots of respect from me and so far as you continue in these pursurance (is that a word?) you will always hold a place of high respect with me.

On the hoodie shooting:
Zimmerman called 911 and told dispatchers he was following a teen. The dispatcher told Zimmerman not to.
And from that moment to the shooting, details are few.
But one man’s testimony could be key for the police.
“The guy on the bottom who had a red sweater on was yelling to me: ‘help, help…and I told him to stop and I was calling 911,” he said.
Trayvon Martin was in a hoodie; Zimmerman was in red.
The witness only wanted to be identified as “John,” and didn’t not want to be shown on camera.
His statements to police were instrumental, because police backed up Zimmerman’s claims, saying those screams on the 911 call are those of Zimmerman.
“When I got upstairs and looked down, the guy who was on top beating up the other guy, was the one laying in the grass, and I believe he was dead at that point,” John said.
Zimmerman says the shooting was self defense. According to information released on the Sanford city website, Zimmerman said he was going back to his SUV when he was attacked by the teen.
Sanford police say Zimmerman was bloody in his face and head, and the back of his shirt was wet and had grass stains, indicating a struggle took place before the shooting.
It’s becoming more and more clear to me that the hoodie “victim” was nothnig more than a punk a$$ twirp who decided to attack a man who happened to be armed.

#27 Darren: I saw that and was hoping someone else saw it as well. Let’s step back a little from this incident and look at the rhetoric surrounding it; the players are all the same, ie, poverty pimps like JJ, Al, and JUgEars – all on the wrong side of the issue but fanning the flames of “systemic racism” and innocent blacks are being murdered, etc. It looks just like the general plot line from Ayn Rand’s THE FOUNTAINHEAD. In this case, the media must keep fanning the fires of racism so that there will be race riots before the election. Remember, you read it here first, race riots are the means to the goal of postponing/not having an election. I think everyone knows that if the election is actually held and not hijacked, the R will win and with long coat tails down ballot. After that will be a more thorough investigation of Zero’s past and the circumstances surrounding his birthplace, the outright fraud in his SS number, Selective Service number, and the BS birth certificate that was posted online. It will be the end of the line for the LSM that was an active participant in the fraud, as well as the D party as a whole.
The feces are about to hit the fan, hang on because it is gonna be a real rough ride. -

I think a neutral look at what we now know, is that the evidence at the scene, wet shirt with grass stains and other evidence of a struggle on Zs face/head plus the testimony of the EYEWITNESS indicate that Z was attacked. Z followed the guy because he looked out of place (according to the stories) and wanted to possibly be able to direct the cops to the person in question.

I think Zimmerman decided he needed to be the hero of the day and followed the victim more closely than he should have, making the victim more nervous and likely to feel a need to defend himself. If I were to feel a need to follow some one who I think is dangerous around my neighborhood, I wouldn’t be doing it from a distance where he could easily attack me.
Keep in mind the victim belonged in the neighborhood.

Your lack of historical knowledge about Reagan does not surprise me. The only thing Romney has in common with Reagan is the “R”s. From that point they divert in idealism, consistency of message and legislation. AND KUDLOW is your source for Romeny = Reagan?snicker snicker giggle snicker heh heh buhwahahahahahahaha!!!! Larry Kudlow!!!! That is rich.
Romney is the epitome of dying by a thousand paper cuts verses Obama’s going for the juggler and you can bet your last dollar I will campaign against him till the primaries are over. This mess will prolly end up in a brokered convention and it is my solemn prayer that Romney is relegated to the back benches where he belongs.
The only thing you and I will agree on concerning Romney is Obama has got to go.
not even writing someone else’s name in will result in giving you less of an ear when you complain about how bad government is.
And even now you are suggesting I do not have a say because I may or may not have cast a vote. You assume too much and I would suggest that anyone who has not voted has the right to petition the government just as much as the next guy. Furthermore, I understand and accept that while I may have the right to say whatever I please there is no guaranteed right to be heard. Preaching to me about “being heard” falls on a deaf ear.

Wagon;
He was attacked by some joker he was following even though he had no reason or need to and was specifically warned not to.
We don’t know why he was following the teenager but yes he was told not to do so. Thus far, however, it seems suspiscious to me that the teenager attacked Zimmerman. That in an of itself shows an indication that the teen was looking for trouble thus being followed. We don’t know details right now other than that Zimmerman was told not to follow the teen by a 911 dispatcher which Zimmerman himelf called, that there is a witness who says the teen attacked Zimmerman, Zimmerman called for help from neighbors and to 911 before shooting the teen, that Zimmerman was not arrested after police looked into the incident, and that the sheriff responsible for making the decision to not arrest Zimmerman has removed himself from the case after massive protests including threats on his life.
Even if Zimmerman followed the teen for no reason, why did the teen attack him and not stop? If it turns out that Zimmerman was in the wrong I’ll have no problem retracting my post and calling Zimmerman something like a “over zealous cop wannabe”. It’s just that right now it’s looking like the teen was procuring trouble.

Trayvon Martin had no criminal record. He was not in the process of committing any illegal activity. He wasn’t on drugs. He had no weapon. He was walking to his girlfriend’s house when Zimmerman started following him. 911 operators told him not to follow the kid. Zimmerman ignored them and ended up shooting an unarmed innocent kid.

And there was another witness that disputed the allegation that Martin was on top of Zimmerman. But so what? If I was somewhere I was supposed to be, doing nothing illegal, and some self-appointed Barney Fife wannabe started following me I’d be inclined to confront him too. Zimmerman is Hispanic, btw, so contrary to the bleating of the race baiters this isn’t a racist white cracker shooting a black kid.

Finally this inevitability talk of Romney reminds me of the spin that we received about McCain and that worked out well now didn’t it. Romney will be just like McCain when it comes to taking the fight to Obama, he ain’t gonna do it. I am not looking for retribution I am looking for someone that will hang Obama’s agenda around Obama’s neck. Romney will not do that because he is so afraid of the racist label (as is his RNC backers). -

Zimmerman ignored them and ended up shooting an unarmed innocent kid.
After being attacked. If Zimmerman provoked the attack then I can see Martin’s responding with violence but like Martin, Zimmerman, I do not know of the motive. I did see this just now:
Zimmerman, 28, was born in Virginia, aspired to be a law enforcement officer, and moved with his family to Florida about a decade ago. Though he appears not to have been an official member of the national Neighborhood Watch program, he was zealous — perhaps over-zealous — about patrolling his Sanford community, neighbors say.
That could be why he followed Martin. There’s also this:
A woman accused the man who fatally shot Trayvon Martin of domestic violence, it emerged Wednesday, as a fuller picture of George Zimmerman began to take shape.
In 2005, a woman filed a petition for an injunction against Zimmerman, claiming that he came to her house and became violent when she told him to leave, the Orlando Sentinel reports. Zimmerman, 21 at the time, filed a petition of his own in response.
Just a month before that, the paper reports, Zimmerman was at a bar near the University of Central Florida when a friend was arrested on suspicion of serving minors. Zimmerman became profane and pushed a law enforcement agent who tried to escort him away. He was arrested after a short struggle. That arrest had been reported previously.
Unlike Martin, Zimmerman did have a “brush” with the law, including pushing an officer. Perhaps I was premature but as of right now it seems as if Martin looked for trouble. It simply does not make sense that Martin would beat up Zimmerman and not stop.

Squawk;
This mess will prolly end up in a brokered convention and it is my solemn prayer that Romney is relegated to the back benches where he belongs.
A brokered convention will not happen. Romney will be the nominee and this November he will be up against Obama. At that point all I know is that Romney has promised things similar to what Reagan promised in 1980 and tha obama absolutely will not uphold your 2nd Amendment, the 10th Amendment, cvater to Islamists, alientate Isreal whereas Romney is positioned to do the exact opposite.
And even now you are suggesting I do not have a say because I may or may not have cast a vote.
No Squawk, you have a voice. Use it and use it frequently. But if you descide not to vote and Obama wins then I will care less to hear from you as to how bad the country is under Obama. I make no pretention to restrict your voice but I will not desire to listen to it in terms of the disaster which comes under Obama. I’d rather listen to those who voted for the other guy. Furthermore, if you do not vote and Romney becomes president and he turns out to be exactly the way you said he’d be – takes away your rights, increases your taxes, pushes towards universal healthcare – then you say “see I told you” then I’ll need to know why I should listen to you. To not vote in the future? I say that the fact that you’ve chosen to “skip the box” in the past that it’s become easy, way too easy in my opinion, for you to do it again. While I do not inhenretly oppose skipping the box, I just see it as something to do under far more extreme circumstances than what you’re proposing. Skipping the box is not a viable option this go around. You didn’t do it in the past and I wonder why you’re doing it now. The circumstances inb the past are near identical today, including Romney’s state governance and Reagan’s state governance as well as what Romney’s propsing to do now as compared to what Reagan proposed to do then. also the imcumbant Carter’s disasters are nearly identical to Obama’s disasters from taxation, to inflation, to unemployment to supporting Islamists.
You assume too much and I would suggest that anyone who has not voted has the right to petition the government just as much as the next guy.
Yes, you do. And not only do you have the right but I’ve no doubt you’ve effectively done so in the past and I truly hope you’ll do so continually. But if I were Romney, why should I cater to you if I know that lots and lots of others *will* vote and thus I’d want to get their vote which *will* be cast in November?
Furthermore, I understand and accept that while I may have the right to say whatever I please there is no guaranteed right to be heard.
Correct.
Preaching to me about “being heard” falls on a deaf ear.
All I wanted to do is to be clear to you as to where I’m coming from. And I like how you phrased that. It’s kinda poetic considering the contrasting parts of your phrase ‘being heard’ and [being] “deaf”.
Finally this inevitability talk of Romney reminds me of the spin that we received about McCain and that worked out well now didn’t it.
I’m saying Romney will win the nomination because, well, he is going to win the nomination.
Romney will be just like McCain when it comes to taking the fight to Obama, he ain’t gonna do it.
I don’t know, McCain promised us more government during the general election. Romney will not do that.
I am not looking for retribution I am looking for someone that will hang Obama’s agenda around Obama’s neck. Romney will not do that because he is so afraid of the racist label (as is his RNC backers).
You’re wrong. Romney has used Obama’s “accomplishments” against him several times. Romney’s also pointed stright to Obama’s agenda and has used it against him. McCain has always been weak to attack the Left, Romney is not.

Even if Zimmerman followed the teen for no reason, why did the teen attack him and not stop?
It’s nighttime. Some dude you do not know is following you.
Zimmerman says the shooting was self defense. According to information released on the Sanford city website, Zimmerman said he was going back to his SUV when he was attacked by the teen.
He gets out of his SUV and approaches you.
Think you might now suddenly have some concerns for your safety and make them known?
Zimmerman seems to have suddenly got frightened himself because he realized he had just gotten in way over his head.
My original opinion stands.

I did not see any spark plugs, nor oil reservoir.
It’s a diesel, plugs not needed, if you will LQQk @ the front of the motor you can see the home made injector pump. Also he oiled all the moving parts and there is NO oil supply. I’m guessing that he only runs at for a few minutes at the time and then lubes it up, kinda like the old steam locomotives. It of course wouldn’t hold up running for a long time, BUTT who cares?!?! The man’s a genuis. 😉

The V-12 is sublime luxury in an automotive setting; smooth power, no need for balance shafts.
The V-8’s V-12’s and V-16’s are naturally very smooth the V-4’s V-10’s, not so much, although the horizontal opposed 4’s are pretty smooth, for a 4 anyway.

One more thing, the smoothest motor ever made was the “Gnome Rotary Engine”….the reason you AXE? The ONLY moving parts were the engine, valves and pistons.!! The crank and connecting rods are stationary.

The Fokker Tri-plane could make a right hand turn in just a bit more than its own length. Only extremely experienced plots could fly it sucessfully. It was replaced by the DVII, an inline engine aircraft which remains the only aerial weapons system secifically mentioned in a peace treaty. The engine may not have been as smooth, but it was a whole lot safer to fly.
The Gnome didn’t have much throttle pability either. it was pratically an “on or off” proposition. Pilots had a button on the insturment panel they would punch to turn the engine on and off to reduce airspeed while landing.

Zimmerman was not told NOT to follow, he was told that he did not have to follow – that is a big difference. Zimmerman was on neighborhood watch, whether or not he was in an “official” capacity is irrelevant, he was watching out for his neighborhood, which we all should do.

I will concede that Z was too close. I will also stipulate that if T was really simply going to see his girlfriend, all he had to do was say so and that is the end of it. Z still could have followed him in his car at a distance to confirm that was all to the story. If I recall, once approached by Z in the beginning, T turned around and went the other way he was previously headed. If he was really going to see his girlfriend why did he not simply proceed? There is more to the story, let’s wait until more facts come out before we brand Z the racist slime that needs to be executed forthwith.

Yup, I knew that, just didn’t mention it. The engine didn’t have oil in the crankcase, they mixed castrol oil with the fuel and it entered the engine through the crankcase, knida like a two stroke. For the romantics out there, the scarf that the dapper airman wore was to clean the damn oil off his googles.
I still think it was ahead of its time because in its day nothing could come close to it in power to weight. -

Because the guy following him had a right to demandto know why he was there? I explain myself to nobody unless he has a badge.
Z still could have followed him in his car at a distance to confirm that was all to the story.
And still be just as creepy and just as threatening? How woud you feel in that situation?

Guy wants to follow somebody from a block away, he’s within his rights. He demands to know why a citizen is occupying a ertan space, he’s not (unless its HIS property). He gets close enough to touch, he’s making a provocation—whether he meant to or not.

First off, from the story linked by darren above:
Zimmerman called 911 and told dispatchers he was following a teen. The dispatcher told Zimmerman not to.
Somewhat different than “you don’t have to”.
Second, I’m in a neighborhood where I’ve apparently spent a reasonable amount of time, seeing as how my girlfriend lives there and some dude roars up in an SUV asking me what I think I’m doing there? If he had asked nicely from inside the SUV, that’s one thing, but homeboy decides he needs to get out and go over to the yoot personally. That is threatening in and of itself, regardless of the tone of voice used. Last time I checked, I didn’t need Zimmerman’s permission to walk peacefully down a public street and furthermore, it’s precisely none of his business why I might decide to do so at any particular point in time.
I have said nothing whatsoever about his race. He, however has shown through his actions that he is at best a busybody cop wannabe, and at worst a hotheaded nut who thinks he should be in control of the streets.

I guess I really don’t qualify as a leftie because I hope the guy pulls through. Oh sure, there will be the usual carping of special privileges because he’s 71 and the average age is 54; but as far as I know heart disease is not ideological, conservatives and liberals might have been bumped. And after all he was the vice-president.
Because he’s a Republican we should be spared the Fox whining of paying for these guys after they left office. If it was Bill Clinton, that would be the lead topic.
It is interesting that he does not know the donor, the press will devote themselves to running that down. Then a coin toss as to what recipient went heartless. I’m guessing it will be a kid.

While I am sure the Trayvon/Zimmerman state of mind may be relevant, I think the focus should be on the police reaction.
If the colors had been reversed, black guy standing over white kid, would he have been incarcerated while they straightened it out?
All are entitled to equal protection under the law. -

Here’s an interesting one, it’s the usual ten Commandments on government property; this time a school. What’s unusual in this one is that instead of the usual Protestant ten commandments out-lawing Catholic crucifixes (crucifixii?); this one’s a Roman Catholic Ten Commandments. This should be interesting to see who defends this one.

It looks like the Tea Party candidate has weighed in
“I can tell conservatives from my perspective is that, I’m not only comfortable with Romney, I’m excited about the possibility of him possibly being our nominee,” DeMint said. “Again, this is not a formal endorsement and I do not intend to do that right now, but I just think we just need to look at where we are.”
Excited he is, I bet his leg’s all tingly. 😉

They haven’t been Johnny On The Spot defending Roman Catholics conscience rights when it comes to contraceptives and abortifacients, have they?
Ya got me there sarge, although I freely admit to not understanding your position that government should favor Roman Catholics conscience rights over say, Presbyterian conscience rights. Let me know though when the government mandates that Roman Catholics, or anyone else for that matter, must adhere to a particular religion’s beliefs.

On a related note, 8,000 to 10,000 atheists rallied in the rain on the mall. It’s most certainly more than the thirty of forty people that I expected.
Atheists and nonbelievers gathered on the National Mall Saturday (March 24) in a bid to show politicians, voters and even themselves that they have grown into a force to be recognized and reckoned with.

I’m not sure if access to rubbers is hostile to all religions, but it seems to fit the criteria:
Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the government for a redress of grievances.

I’m not sure if folks are following the transportation bill, the Senate passed one a few days a go and the house Republicans are arguing amongst themselves. Part of the bill includes renewing the federal 18.4 cent-per-gallon tax on gas sales. This brings in about $100M a day. In short no bill – no tax. Of course the deficit increases at by another $100M per day, but Republicans burnt that bridge down their first week in control of the house.
I guess this is that painful part of ruling that the Tea Partiers keep threatening. That and the cessation of infrastructure that states are depending on. -

Generally speaking, it can be counted upon during any series of medal awards, someone will hose up a national anthem or two. Particularly if there if the country has a -stan suffix.
This one though is particularly funny.Kazakhstan’s shooting team has been left stunned after a comedy national anthem from the film Borat was played at a medal ceremony at championships in Kuwait instead of the real one. …

C’mon Shamwow, let’s hear your response to #75. You’re normally real mouthy, explain yourself. For that matter, what does the link in your #66 have to do with protestants or catholics? Seems to me you’re intentionally trying to stir something up here. That’s called blatant trolling and I’m pretty sure I warned you about that.

I think the Republicans are about to be set up again. As in a repeat of the contraception model. Some law will be proposed at the national level claiming to prevent such shootings. It will be an over reach of the 2nd and 10th amendments. Republicans will oppose it and, guess what, be accused of encouraging hate crimes. That, or they cave and the Feds pull off a power grab. The Holder Doctrine in action, never let a good crisis go to waste.

#77: I’m not going to let this lie slide:
I’m not sure if access to rubbers is hostile to all religions, but it seems to fit the criteria:
NO ONE, is blocking anyone’s access to condoms, BC pills, or abortion. What the Catholic’s are saying is DO NOT MAKE US PAY FOR IT!
The freaking lie stating that access is blocked must stop! BC pills are cheap, around $9-15/month and condoms can be had for $.50 each or less; free in many cases – THERE IS NO BARRIER TO ACCESS. -

I think the government mandated they violate their religious beliefs. Bit of a difference I should think.
Sorry I ain’t buying that any individual is being forced by the government to purchase contraception. Having access is not the same as engaging in the act. I would file that under personal responsibility and as a matter between the individual, their conscience and whatever belief system they operate.
Democrats are big believers in liberty and personal responsibility. -

Keep willfully characterizing the issue incorrectly and we’ll continue to point out your troll-like behavior. This isn’t about prohibiting individuals from access to contraception. It’s about forcing a religious organization to violate its core principles by offering contraception. I would file that under a violation of the 1st Amendment.

Regarding the ten commandment display on government property, perhaps I wasn’t clear. What’s unusual in this particular instance is the display of non-Protestant Ten Commandments. It caught my eye because it lacks the usual admonition against graven images.
FWIW, this is the Interdenominational Public School Format that the ACLU agreed as not favoring one religion over another. A backstory that goes along with this is that Cecille B DeMille was involved in the distribution and marketing of these monoliths as part of the advertising for his blockbuster Ten Commandments movie.
At the time one could order ten Commandments in Roman Catholic, Jewish and Protestant versions. There are also Lutheran versions but I have no familiarity with those. The legal argument goes, that by specifying a particular religion’s ten commandment to display on government property, one is favoring a religion over another.
So, the point of the comment is whether the usual organizations will come to the defense of the town, ala Moore in Alabama, or will this slide into anonymity because of the Roman Catholic connection?
Nary a peep from our friends over at Wing Nut Daily, so I guess I know the answer. 😉 -

What are these different versions of the Ten Commandments of which you speak? All Christian sects (and Jewish, for that matter) agree on the Scriptures known as the Decalogue. The only difference is in the grouping. There is no difference in the content of the Commandments.

This isn’t about prohibiting individuals from access to contraception.
Good, that was my point but it’s good to see that we are in agreement that silly state laws providing impediments are not valid. We’ll save that discussion for future use. 😉
Moving on to the next topic, the Roman Catholic Church’s objection to something or other; let’s set the wayback machine to the day before the President’s pronouncement of agency policy.
The Roman Catholic Church offers contraception and aborto-fascients in ten states to its employees, adherants and patients without restriction and in numerous other states with varying degrees of restriction. Roman Catholic centers of learning such as DePaul and Georgetown University offer it to their students without restriction. So philosophically, we understand the RCC’s pragmatic position.
Move forward two days, same conditions exist, but in the future, the RCC will have to offer contraception and a/f as part of preventative health services at no cost to the employee, just like annual checkups, pap smears and breast exams. The cost offset is fewer babies born is cheaper than contraception.
So the issue then is not contravening the individual’s conscience see first paragraph), nor any inviolable religious belief (nothing’s changed), the issue appears to be providing it at no cost, by employers who choose to insure their employees. Unless there is some religious thriftiness belief, IMO this is hardly a first amendment religious favoritism constitutional issue.

A layman’s guide. Yes, I or anyone else for that matter can look at a monument and divine it’s origins and adherants.
But I may be wrong, let’s see if the Roy Moore and the Alabama religious defense league spring into action, or if the only blowback we receive is from the Roman Catholic church.

Now that she has the stuff in her head I’ve offered to underwrite her American citizenship. Although she has a greencard, I feel that jobwise she is better off with citizenry. -

Texas governor Rick Perry, is the surprise hit at the gridiron club. This is some funny stuff These things aren’t recorded I’ve cut and pasted the routine below:
In a hilarious routine, Perry reminded the audience, “with all my gaffes, people forgot I once led the Republican primary. It was the three most exhilarating hours of my life. Awesome.”
Perry spoke for the Republicans at the club’s 127th annual dinner; Rep. Debbie Wasserman Schultz, chair of the Democratic National Committee for the Democrats and Defense Secretary Leon Panetta stood in for President Barack Obama. On having to quit his White House bid, Perry said, “Here is the hardest part for me. It was the weakest Republican field in history, and they kicked my butt.”
And on Romney, now the GOP front-runner, Perry laid it on: “I like Mitt Romney as much as one really good-looking man can like a really good-looking man and not break Texas law.”
Perry noted that Obama skipped the Gridiron Dinner because he was in Korea–visiting on the trip the demilitarized zone known as the DMZ. Making fun of his penchant for gaffes and lampooning birthers, Perry wondered by Obama had to go to the DMZ.
“Would somebody tell me why do you have to go all the way to Korea to get a driver’s license? It must be something to do with that birth certificate thing.”
Perry recalled how his presidential campaign was short-circuited by poor debate performances and how he did not catch a break.
“I keep waiting for Mitt to say, ‘Pardon me, do you have any Grey Poupon?’”
“My problem is saying stuff that isn’t right. Mitt’s problem is saying stuff that is.”
“My gaffes start countering each other, they are canceling each other out. Some have said that my debating style is similar to that other Texas Cicero,” former President Bush.
“The only difference between George and me is I say ‘oops.’”
He said Bush is very “hands on” in planning his presidential library in Texas. “My favorite part [of his presidential library] is the petting zoo.”
Perry said he enjoyed needling Santorum during the campaign.
“Rick tell me again, which one of the Village People are you? You the policeman or the Indian.”
“I do wish I was still in the race,” he said, recalling that he is a governor from a big state, a military pilot with a degree in animal husbandry from Texas A&M.
“Animal husbandry. That sounds what Rick Santorum thinks gay marriage leads to.”
Perry said after his campaign experience his motto is, “If you can’t make fun of yourself, well, there’s always Herman Cain.” -

That nice Pope feller spoke in Silao today. For those unfamiliar with Mexican or Roman Catholic history, Silao is in the state of Guanajuato and was ground zero for the Cristero War of 1926 -1929. Mexico was at one time more heavily Marxist and had a Constitution that severely restricted the public face of the Roman Catholic church. These are his homies.

I’ve been out digging, hauling, dumping, weeding, spreading, and hoeing.
I’ve been fighting off mosquitoes and biting flies.
I have a headache, even though I tried to stay hydrated, and I have some other aches and pains as well.
I think part of my headache is from the lemon eucalyptus mosquito repellant I tried out today
I hurt and feel bad.I come to the Couch and see Shammy up to his usual troll tricks.
I’m with Mharper. Now would be a good time.
But since I don’t think the Lord is through with me, I’ve taken some aspirin, I’m drinking some more water, and I’m going to take a shower to see if I relieve some of my discomfort.
If Shammy’s gone when I come back, that’ll help.
Just sayin’.
Later.

From what I understand, you’ve been forced on us by a sort of representative not so benevolent dictatorship that took a vote to let you on, that you survived that by only one vote, and that person has already stated if she knew then what she knows now, she would’nt vote that way again.
While one or two here might think you are a “worthy opponent”, some of us actually resent that you’re here for that reason, and most of the rest of us and think you’re the living embodiment of the fact that snark does not equal intelligence and something to be endured as one does an allergic rash.
I don’t have a vote in this, but I do hope there’s another election real soon.

It’s nighttime. Some dude you do not know is following you.
While not at night, two freidns and myself were walking in the neighborhood adjacent to ours when a person of that neighborhood decided to follow. We were early teenagers and person clearly an adult. My friends ran but I simply stopped to talk to the person. He told me not to walk through the neighborhood again. I simply said “OK”, left and of course continued to walk through the neighborhood when I pleased. While our neihborhood wasn’t “ghetto”, it had its fair share of local problems but one thing for sure, I didn’t stop to beat him up.
He gets out of his SUV and approaches you.
Think you might now suddenly have some concerns for your safety and make them known?
Zimmerman seems to have suddenly got frightened himself because he realized he had just gotten in way over his head.
So, thus far you acknowledge that Zimmerman got out of his SUV, martin beat the livin’ daylights out of him, and you suspect, Zimmerman is at fault? Do you beat people up after they get out of SUVs or teach your kids to do the same? Common sense, no matter what neighborhood, would say that you need to find out what’s going on first, then decide what to do. Key to this issue I think is what did Zimmerman do, if anything, to provoke the fight. Getting out of an SUV at night is not grounds to get the dickens beat out of you. Even if Zimmerman was role playing super cop somehow, all we know is that Martin beat him up badly and he shot Martin. We also know of mass pro-hoodie protest and accusations of blacks being targeted for murder, and the president saying if he had a son, he’d look like Martin.
Trayvon, who resided with his mother in Miami Gardens, was visiting his father, Tracy Martin, when he was shot to death Feb. 26, 2012, in Sanford. The teen was walking from a convenience store to his father’s girlfriend’s home in The Retreat at Twin Lakes.
Zimmerman told police he shot the unarmed teen in self-defense.
Sonner said he was concerned for the safety of Zimmerman, who remains in hiding.
“There’s a document out that has his picture on it and says, ‘Wanted: Dead or Alive.’ To not take that seriously would be a mistake. He’s been advised by law enforcement – and by me – to keep a low profile,” Sonnet said.
Meanwhile this morning, the Rev. Jesse Jacksonwas expected to preach at the Macedonia Missionary Baptist Church in Eatonville about the killing of the teen-ager who was carrying a bag of Skittles and a can of Arizona iced tea.
Jackson, who was interviewed by TV crews Saturday at Orlando International Airport, called a recent bounty on Zimmerman that was promoted by the New Black Panthers a “diversion.”
“I think disciplined, persistent, nonviolent action works,” Jackson said.
U.S.Rep. Corrine Brown, D-Jacksonville, who accompanied Jackson, added of the bounty, “No one supports this kind of justice at all.”
During the interview with ABC News, Oliver, who said he’s known Zimmerman since Zimmerman started dating the woman who became his wife, said he believes that it is Zimmerman screaming for help in the 911 call to police.
“I hear George. I’ve heard George’s voice pretty much every day for the past couple years,” Oliver said. “That sounded like someone who was in dire need of help and it sounded like George.”
Trayvon’s family insists the voice is their son’s.
Report: Zimmerman thought “it would all blow over,” friend says
Yet it was Zimmerman who was attacked and beaten. Something is very foul here and thus far I cannot see it being Zimmerman. police have looked into the incident and did not arrest Zimmerman. Even with witnesses reporting on the incident, there’s still not arrest. Do you honestly think Zimmerman provoked the fight?

Different styles and type of bands I guess. There are those who liked Buddy Rich, but I don’t think his style matched Krupa although he did have flair. The Harlon Ellison of drums..
For rock I’d go with Moon, Bonham and Baker, in that order. And I confess, Baker is a sentimental favorite.

Zimmerman has contended that he was on his way back to his SUV after following Trayvon when he was attacked. Police found Zimmerman with a bloody nose and blood on the back of his head. His lawyer says Zimmerman’s nose was broken.
Well, I guess that’s close to getting the daylights beaten out of you. Whenever I got smacked in the nose (it’s never been broken), I saw stars.
At the very least, a series of 46 emergency calls made by Zimmerman over the past six years document a man vigilant about keeping his neighborhood safe and orderly. The calls include complaints about unruly people at the pool, potholes, dumped trash, and kids playing in the street. In recent months, as the neighborhood saw an uptick in crime, including burglaries and a shooting, Zimmerman’s calls had focused on specific suspects, the majority of them young black men.
And if that increase in crime was committed by young black maes then obviously Zimmerman’s calls would focus on young black males in the area and Jessie Jackson’s and New Black Panther’s anger should be direct toward concern as to why young black males would be committing these crimes. Likewise, if the increase in crime was not committed by young black males then that would point to Zimmerman being a rascist.
But Zimmerman’s family, his neighbors and his lawyer paint a different picture: That of a devoted neighbor, keen enough to protect the neighborhood that residents, in establishing a local Neighborhood Watch group last year, appointed him the captain. The organization was not registered with the national Neighborhood Watch program, but was set up with the assistance of the Sanford Police Department. Zimmerman initiated the program, according to Wendy Dorival, the department’s volunteer coordinator.
Frank Taaffe, a neighbor, told CNN that Zimmerman “had a passion for the safety of our neighborhood and he demonstrated to the rest of us that one person could make a difference. And he was an average guy, just like me.” In a separate interview, Mr. Taaffe told the Washington Post, “George is a good dude. He cares about this community. He’s not a vigilante out looking for trouble.”
That’s not the portrait of a rascist hater.
The chief has also said Zimmerman had no legal duty to heed a dispatcher’s warning to stay put instead of following Trayvon on foot. (Chief Lee stepped down “temporarily” this week after receiving a no-confidence vote from the Sanford City Council over his handling of the case.)
And that’s no vigilante. He broke no law while Martin could very well have by beating Zimmerman.
Zimmerman’s father, a retired magistrate judge, fought back against those allegations in a recent letter to the Orlando Sentinel.
“The portrayal of George Zimmerman in the media, as well as the series of events that led to the tragic shooting, are false and extremely misleading,” Robert Zimmerman wrote. “Unfortunately, some individuals and organizations have used this tragedy to further their own causes and agendas. George is a Spanish-speaking minority with many black family members and friends. He would be the last to discriminate for any reason whatsoever.”
In an interview Friday, Zimmerman’s lawyer, Craig Sonner, told CNN that Zimmerman had recently mentored a black boy, taking him out to play basketball and participating in fund-raisers at the boy’s church.
“This is a case about self-defense, that’s what the trial is going to be about,” Mr. Sonner said. “It’s not about being angry over a racial issue.”
He really doesn’t sound like a rascist to me. Anyone else?
Who is George Zimmerman, and why did he shoot Trayvon Martin?
I also read somehwere that Zimmerman mentored a black kid by playing basketball with him and helping him at a church fundraiser.

He’s not a vigilante out looking for trouble.”That’s not the portrait of a rascist hater.
“It’s not about being angry over a racial issue.”He really doesn’t sound like a rascist to me. Anyone else?
Who is George Zimmerman, and why did he shoot Trayvon Martin?
I also read somehwere that Zimmerman mentored a black kid by playing basketball with him and helping him at a church fundraiser. -

After squinting through binoculars into a nation frozen in time, US President Barack Obama reeled off a contempt-laden and startlingly frank indictment of North Korea.
The Stalinist remnant of the Cold War was, in Obama’s eyes, nothing but a nation which cannot make “anything of any use”, “doesn’t work”, and even its vaunted weapons exports were hardly state of the art.
“It is like you are in a time warp,” Obama said Sunday, after he toured a rocky border post in the demilitarised buffer zone that has split the Korean peninsular for longer than he has been alive.
“It is like you are looking across 50 years into a country that has missed 40 years or 50 years of progress,” Obama marvelled later, after taking a helicopter back to teeming, prosperous Seoul, just 25 miles (40 kilometres) away.
Yes, Mr. president. This is what happens when government controls the economy.

I understand this is how they really found Bin Laden
Indeed, the concept behind Tacocopter is very simple, and very American: You order tacos on your smartphone and also beam in your GPS location information. Your order — and your location — are transmitted to an unmanned drone helicopter (grounded, near the kitchen where the tacos are made), and the tacocopter is then sent out with your food to find you and deliver your tacos to wherever you’re standing.

So, anyone here have an opinion – Reba McEntire or Loretta Lynn?
An argument about country music stars Reba McEntire and Loretta Lynn escalated into a domestic dispute that has Savannah-Chatham police looking for a man believed to have attacked two people with a hammer Tuesday.

(CNN) – Steve Bridges, an actor best known for impersonating then-President George W. Bush at the 2006 White House Correspondents’ Association Dinner, died last week at the age of 48, his manager said Sunday.
Bridges’ portrayal of Bush was replayed around the world following the 2006 event, which was most notable because the real president was standing right next to Bridges on stage.
Man, this is unfortunate. Not only did this guy’s performances cracked me up in general but the one at the Associate Dinner was really funny.

“According to Davila, Talackova claimed on her registration form she was born a female. He said he suspected otherwise and asked her about it on March 13, when she admitted she was not. She was pulled from the contest that day.
‘She feels like a real girl and she is a real girl. She didn’t expect people to question it,’ Davila said.
‘She was hoping we could put her back in the competition, but the rules are very clear and there’s no way we can go back on it.’”

A bookstore in Canada has sold out of an Islamic marriage guide that instructs Muslim men on how to beat their wives, according to the Toronto Sun.
Among the advice dispensed in “A Gift for the Muslim Couple” is to “beat by hand or stick” and “pull [her] by the ears.” The husband may also withhold money to exert control, though should “refrain from beating her excessively.”
Even if I wanted to practice Sharia Law, I still wouldn’t. My wife would end up shooting me.
I love that woman.

First of all, condolences to Tedtam & family on their recent loss, and thanks to Hamous for de-icing my login.
I don’t plan on commenting as frequently as before. I’ll just post a quick update on what’s happening around the bob42 commune and call it a night. Older daughter had been living very close, but recently got a cute little apartment in Montrose and is working at Katz’s. Younger daughter and her death metal guitar hero bf recently got their own place, but she drops by often to practice on the pianos. The Rhodes still needs more work, but it’s getting there. Adopted couple have here been way too long, but are finally back on their feet enough to fly on their own yet again. Hopefully for good.
At work, if I manage to not wiss off the wrong people for another 5 months, I’ll have been employed at my first post-radio job for 30 years. On a personal note, I’ve been chatting/texting with a sweet, smart, cute, and pretty west Texas gal for awhile. We click on many levels, including a broadcasting background, quick edgy wit, politics, and religion. I got on a plane Friday and met her face to face for the first time. It will be difficult to return home Tuesday.
