It’s difficult for Americans to relate to the iconic position Canadians have elevated Tim Horton’s. I’m not sure exactly how it happened, but Tim Horton’s as a brand is like Coca-Cola here. You don’t mess with it.
I imagine this news has our fine neighbors to the north rending their garments and going around in sackcloth parkas and ashes.
Civilization as we know it may have just ended to our north.

I know after reading this that I have fallen into a rabbit hole and just keep on tumbling down. The only thing I can say is “are we there yet” or perhaps “wake me when it’s over.”

I think it’s a great application of existing technologies as someone who has had to pay the exorbitant credit card fees and rates as a small business operator. The first credit card machine I leased over 30 years ago cost me a fee of $800, a personal guarantee for another $5,000, a sliding annual fee and a rate of 4 – 5% of each transaction. If you are running a wholesale firm on a gross margin of 18 – 20%, the fees were prohibitive.
This was also during the Carter administration when people checked the newspaper every morning to see how much the prime rate had risen overnight. Oh, and American Express might take up to 3 days to credit your bank deposit as opposed to Visa/Mastercard who always credited overnight. There were large fortunes made in the overnight float in those days. Everyone tried to hold on to every dollar for the interest. It’s another insidious, rotten effect of inflation.
Williams and a growing number of other Tampa Bay area businesses are embracing a growing trend in business that can save them money on credit or debit card transaction fees while amusing their customers.
Using technology developed by Square, a California-based startup, merchants “swipe” credit and debit cards with a quarter-sized device that plugs into any iPod Touch, iPad, iPhone or Android phone.
All customers have to do is sign the screen — with their finger.
“They’re all like, ‘Oooh, I get to sign my name with my finger?’ ” said Williams, who has been using Square for about two months. “Some of them try to get really precise. Others just go for it.”
After the transaction is done, the customer can have a receipt sent to her or his phone or email. No paper needed.
and
Square, he said, does neither of those things. Instead, it takes a flat fee of 2.75 percent of a purchase, regardless of what type of card is swiped. And the application and card reader are free.
“Square ended up saving us between $4,000 and $5,000 a year,” Ward said. “That’s huge. I think it’s especially good for small, independent businesses.”

I’m curious if any of you have used this new technology. Since I am not much of a shopper, I don’t know how prevalent this is.

Keystone Pipeline
The explanation for blocking”Reason #1:
Obama: More jobs in jobless benefits than Keystone
byJoel Gehrke Commentary Staff Writer
Follow on Twitter:President Obama said that he will delay his vacation and keep Congress in session until the passage of his desired payroll tax cut and unemployment benefits extension — two proposals that Obama said would create more jobs than the Keystone XL pipeline that his administration recently delayed.
“I would not ask anyone to do something I’m not willing to do myself,” Obama said when asked if he would go on vacation while keeping Congress in Washington D.C. “We are going to stay here as long as it takes [to get unemployment extended and pass the payroll tax cut].”
As Obama called for passage of those bills, he also responded to a recent Republican push to require him to approve the construction of the Keystone XL pipeline from Canada. “However many jobs might be generated by a Keystone pipeline,” he said, “they’re going to be a lot fewer than the jobs that are created by extending the payroll tax cut and extending unemployment insurance.”

Obama Rejecting Pipeline, Pokes Back At GOP

Shannon RamosKeystone pipeline.
From National Journal:In a decision that quickly re-ignited a fierce energy debate, the Obama administration on Wednesday rejected the controversial Keystone XL pipeline because the 60-day deadline imposed by Republicans did not allow adequate time to review an alternate route through an ecologically sensitive area in Nebraska.
Deputy Secretary of State William Burns made the announcement on President Obama’s behalf on the project that would carry oil from Canada’s carbon-heavy tar sands to refineries on the Gulf Coast. TransCanada, the company seeking to build the $7 billion, 1,700-mile pipeline, will be able to reapply with a new route avoiding an ecologically sensitive area of Nebraska, sources told National Journal.
Put more simply, the Obama administration hit back at Republicans by saying no because of their forcing him to decide on the project in just 60 days. Republicans in Congress and on the campaign trail promptly painted the decision as a rejection of thousands of American jobs purely for political reasons.
Now the administration — and Obama’s reelection campaign — will seek to do damage control with Republican attacks. It must also submit within 15 days a report to Congress detailing why it rejected the permit.
But the issue will not be dropped by congressional Republicans. GOP leaders in both chambers are already mulling other legislation that could take the decision on the pipeline completely out of Obama’s hands. They have also said any such maneuver could likely be included in the longer term payroll-tax deal Congress has indicated it will pass by the end of February.

by HollywoodlandAll of President Barack Obama’s desperate outreach to Hollywood may end up going for naught.
Obama, who in recent days has sent out a wish list of celebrity surrogates he hopes will push his re-election campaign and assigned a special envoy to curry favor with Tinsel Town, now finds himself cut off from some of the fattest wallets in the industry.
Deadline Hollywood is reporting that some major movie moguls are refusing to cut the Obama campaign any more gaudy checks due to the administration’s refusal to back the MPAA’s online piracy legislation.

Tim Horton’s is like a cult in Canada. Where I used to live there were two coffee shops across the street from each other in two busy malls. Tim’s would be lined up with 40 cars every morning. The other place you could be in and out in two minutes. I just don’t get it.
That said, they are very generous in the community and support many charities including crippled children.

I think I read recently that the bust of Churchill that Obammy pitched out of the WH is still being stored at the British Embassy in DC. I would imagine the next Republican president will politely inquire if the US can have it back. The Congressional Black Caucus will complain that is racism.

Re: Coffee: I have a coffee maker in my home and it is real easy to use. I have an insulated stainless steel travel mug with sippy top so I can drink coffee in the car on the way to work. Each cup costs less than a quarter for me to make and it is ready when I wissin want it to be. I never got the whole Starbucks or whatever “elitist a$$wipe” coffee thing.

Amazing new discovery:
CHECK YOUR SHAMPOO BOTTLES
Check your shampoo bottle label.
I don’t know WHY I didn’t figure this out sooner.
It’s the shampoo I use in the shower!
When I wash my hair, the shampoo runs down my whole body and
(duh!) printed very clearly on the
shampoo label is this warning:
FOR EXTRA VOLUME AND BODY —No wonder I have been gaining weight!
Well! I have gotten rid of that shampoo and I am going to start using
Dawn dish washing liquid instead.
Their label reads,
DISSOLVES FAT THAT IS OTHERWISE DIFFICULT TO REMOVE.Problem Solved.
If I don’t answer the phone, I’ll be in the shower! -

It looks like a done deal that Jimmy Dick is gonna drop out. The article says he is gonna endorse Newt. If all of Jimmy Dick’s supporters (4%) go to Newt that puts Newt in a statistical dead heat with the Romneyrroid. That leaves Mr. Charisma, AKA Rick Santorum and The Ronulan as the only other contenders for the not-Romneyrroid position. IF Newt and Mitt together take over 60% of the vote, then I think Mr. Charisma will drop before FL and The Ronulan is going to stay just for the comedy of the whole thing. When Mr. Charisma drops, his voters will likely split with the majority going to Newt.
What is after FL? I think that after the FL primary, there will be a maximum of 3 in the mix. -

A political consultant I’m not, but I have to think that if Gov. Perry had merely gone out there and cited example after example (been bragging about Texas) of what’s happening in Texas versus the rest of the nation that he would have gotten traction. I think his downfall was being forced to resort to “campaign gimmicks” like flat tax rather than just holding up the Texas record – no state income tax, business friendly environment (other than Susan Combs dealings with Amazon’s distribution center), satisfactory infrastructure, diverse economy, absence of excessive government interference in business, etc. While I’m not necessarily a Rick Perry fan, I think he and/or his campaign advisers simply blew it.

Santorum’s latest ad gives us an indication as to why some Republicans are frightened devoid of feces of the phrase—nay, even the concept of “Establishment Republican”.
I also think its an indication of whom he definetly won’t be endorsing if he pulls out of the race.
Meanwhile, Newt’s reponse to Romney’s latest attack shows he’s much better prepared for the shiv between the shoulders than he was the last time he threatened Mr. Inevitable.
Karma.

If Perry just “suspends” his campaign and waits until the bloodletting ends, he might have a chance to jump back in after the beheading is over and he looks like a viable candidate again. I always thought that was going to be his strategy – hang in there until the leaders ended up destroying each other’s chances.

Will they be appalled at the blatant hypocrisy and rank partisanship from an organization that is supposed to be unbiased in their presentation of “the news?”
How many people will recognize that they, the LSM, are pushing for the Romneyrroid to be the nominee because they feel that he is the easiest for JugEars to beat?
When we finally have a nominee, will the VMG recognize the blatant electioneering on behalf of JugEars that the LSM is committing? -

I’m not a political consultant either, but I think what hurt Perry was looking like a doofuss in the debates—-twice. The campiagn gimmicks came as a result of trying to recover from his doofussness. The combination of the two caused people to not consider him seriously. Just when he started to recover, he comfirmed his doofussness yet again, and that was all she wrote.
His endorsement—and especially his donors will be welcomed whole heartedly by Newt, and if Jimmy Dick acts as the kind of surrogate for Newt that Christy had been for Romney (up until the point he said Mittens needs to release his tac returns), then its bad news for the Master Debater.
There has been reports that Jimmy Dick had formed a sort of alliance with Sarah Palin, and that this would help propel him to the nomination. I think that Sarah’s sort of endorsement for Newt, and the First Dude’s outright endorsement was an indication to Gov. Goodhair that his time had passed.
All of this, plus Santorum’s latest ad linked to above, is a strong indiction that Mitten’s days as Mr. Inevitable are numbered.

Given the timing, I’d say that the initial reports are accurate and that he is not only dropping out, but is throwing his support behind Newt. Suspending your campaign is something you do the day after a poor showing, not two days before the election where you know you will have a poor showing.
This is Rick Perry doing the best he can to affect the outcome of the SC Primary.

Apparently, Perry has suspended his campaign, but it has more to do with being able to raise funds to pay bills than trying to hang on to be the eventual winner.

I didn’t realize this was the Hitler-in-the-bunker scene until Bones commented! Sounds like those Tim Horton coffee shops have a layout problem. Reminded me of when a bunch of y’all were complaining about zigzag aisles in the new HEB stores (I think). Why can’t the women get their money out ahead of time?

The tax on gross is criminal.
Income tax is the way to do it.
Or have the state get out of the public education business, my preference. -

Income tax is the way to do it.
NEGATIVE THERE GHOST RIDER! An income tax in Texas would be a wissin disaster. Fix the education problem in Texas by introducing competition into the system, let the education dollars follow the student to whichever school the parents deem to be the best for their individual chirrenzes. This would cause many more private schools to spring up and the competition would drive the cost down. The big casualty (which is really a good thing) in all this would be the crappiest public schools would wind up having to close as no one would attend. The teachers unions would also suffer greatly as the best teachers would go the private route as the demand for their services would go up, and union dues would drop. I forsee this path as leading to some now public schools being sold and operated as private schools.

There is good cat barf and bad cat barf. Good cat barf is when they throw up the crunchies they just ate. This is generally easy to clean up and the kibble just barely got damp in the tummy. Bad cat barf is when they puke up canned seafood after it has been digested. I once had a barfer who unloaded a quart of digested seafood down the back of a big TV set, where it ran into all the ventilation slots.

These two headlines on Drudge speak volumes:
Dems dispute 22,000 jobs created by 1,700-mile oil pipeline…
SF Dems say 43,000 jobs created — by 1.7-mile subway extension!
Let’s take one at a time:
22,000 jobs for the 1700 mile pipeline: if you count the jobs involved in mining the iron ore, transporting it to the smelter, converting that ore into steel and then to pipe mill, transporting the pipe to the job site, welding the pipe in place, digging the trenches, operating the pumping stations (not to mention the jobs involved in producing those pumps and pump engines), coordinating the flow of oil from the wells to the pipeline input stations, 22,000 doesn’t seem that far out of line, does it?OTOH: 43,000 jobs for a 1.7 mile subway extension?? Demo-nazi accounting has always mystified me.

BK usually barfs on the floor. Occasionally she christens the furniture, but we have these cool microfiber couches now, and clean-up is easy. What’s bad is when the barf color is similar to the brown patterned couches, and you don’t see it until you put a hand on it or sit in it. It’s only happened a few times, but that was enough. Usually she gets some warning and jumps on the floor before upchucking.
The vet said she may have irritable bowel, and that’s why she throws up. Past vet said she had a “mass,” but it was just a thickening of the intestinal wall. When we heard “mass,” we thought she’d be gone in a year or two, but here we are, years later, still keeping our house well stocked with paper towels.
Man, that TV story — I feel for you.

Yeah, that’s what I said. It puked up everything except the fur and whiskers right down the back of the TV set.
Back in the day, the top of a warm TV set was a favored cat lounge spot. Now that TVs don’t have tops, that particular housekeeping disaster doesn’t occur any more. If you have cats, there will be some spit-up. Virtually all of ours is crunchies onto the tile floors.

The 6% undecided is what’s really interesting, and we might speculate how the news of the day might affect that.

Fortunately, I have an ironclad reason to never have a cat for a pet.
White Fang is seriously allergic to them. He petted one once, then rubbed his face. He had a red handprint until we got him some Benadryl.
He looked like one of his ladies smacked him. 🙂
He was about 8 or 9 at the time…

Aggie Beau is also allergic to them. That is why I have become the guardian of Barf Kitty, even though Lovely Daughter has her own place. It seems that Aggie Beau spends time at Lovely’s apartment, and having the two of them in one place would be problematic.
That, and the whole pet deposit thing is another expense Lovely doesn’t need right now.

It could have just been that one cat. I once owned a cat that I got an allergic reaction to with too much contact. There was something in her dander and/or saliva that would raise a red spot on tender skin, like the inside of the elbow. There is nothing wrong with not being a cat person. I think it is genetic, and you are born as a cat person or a dog person.

Having arrived at the Pearly Gates, Barack Obama meets a man with a beard. ‘Are you Mohammed?’ he asks.
‘No my son, I am St. Peter; Mohammed is higher up.’ Peter then points to a ladder that rises into the clouds.
Delighted that Mohammed should be higher than St. Peter, Obama climbs the ladder in great strides, climbs up through the clouds and comes into a room where he meets other bearded man.
He asks again, ‘Are you Mohammed?’
‘Why no he answers, I am Moses; Mohammed is higher still .’
Exhausted, but with a heart full of joy he climbs the ladder yet again, he discovers a larger room where he meets an angelic looking man with a beard. Full of hope, he asks again, ‘Are you Mohammed?’
‘No, I am Jesus, the Christ…you will find Mohammed higher up. ‘
Mohammed higher than Jesus! Man, oh man! Obama can hardly contain his delight
and climbs and climbs ever higher.Once again, he reaches an even larger room where he meets this truly magnificent looking man with a silver white beard and once again repeats his question, “Are you Moammed?” he gasps as he is by now, totally out of breath from all his climbing.
‘No, my son…. I am Almighty God, the Alpha and the Omega, but you look exhausted. Would you like a cup of coffee?”Obama says, Yes please. As God looks behind him, he claps his hands and yells out:
“Hey Mohammed – two coffees!”

It does appear that Perry will be taking on a role in the Gingrich campaign.
At an event in Beaufort, South Carolina on Thursday, Gingrich said he spoke to Perry that morning and asked him to head up a “10th Amendment enforcement project, reaching out to every governor in the country in both parties,” as well as other elected leaders.
Gingrich said the project would result in a strong party platform plank on the 10th Amendment, which protects states’ rights, as well as legislation on the issue.
“We can then pass that legislation no later than the end of the first quarter of 2013 to return power to the citizens, to communities, and the states and get it out of Washington, D.C.,” he said.
Gingrich said Perry agreed to take on the project.
Translation: Perry will be using his contacts and money to network for Newt, which will likely result in Perry’s donors sending money to Newt.

Your joke reminds me of:The Rev. Al Sharpton on Monday said he was disturbed by condescending remarks reportedly made by former President Bill Clinton about Barack Obama during the 2008 campaign.
Sharpton was referring to a passage in the new book, “Game Change,” which recounts the conversation Clinton had with the late Sen. Ted Kennedy when he was trying to convince the liberal lion of the Senate to endorse his wife for president.
“A few years ago, this guy would have been getting us coffee,” Clinton told Kennedy, according to the book — a comment that angered Kennedy, who later endorsed Obama.

Now, this raises the bar on epically stupid.
Cuccinelli said D.C.’s new rat law–the Wildlife Protection Act of 2010 (Wildlife Protection Act of 2010.pdf) –is “crazier than fiction” because it requires that rats and other vermin not be killed but captured, preferably in families; no glue or snap traps can be utilized; the rodents must be relocated from where they are captured; and some of these animals may need to be transferred to a “wildlife rehabilitator” as part of their relocation process.
The law does not allow pest control professionals “to kill the dang rats,” Cuccinelli told CNSNews.com. “They have to capture them–then capture them in families. [Not sure] how you’re going to figure that out with rats. And then you have to relocate them. That brings us to Virginia. Now, if you don’t relocate them about 25 miles away, according to experts, rodents will find their way back. Well, an easy way to solve that problem is to cross a river, and what’s on the other side of the river? Virginia.”

I was also flabbergasted by the DC rat story when I first saw the headline yesterday. However a closer reading shows it’s more heat than light. The types of rodents that are most likely to infest human habitations are still OK to be killed even by professional exterminators. And property owners are NOT prohibited from using kill traps for any rodent on their site. I’m sure Virginia doesn’t want any DC rodent families released on their side of the Potomac, but that isn’t actually likely to happen. More likely raccoons and possums would be live trapped and relocated (somewhere). Heck, they can bring ’em to my yard, I like raccoons and possums.

It looks like Newt and Mitt will claim more than 60% between them and Flarda is 10 days away or so. I will be very surprised if there are more than 2 or 3 (the third being the Ronulan) by Feb 01.

Things are starting to coalesce
CHARLESTON, S.C. — The Daily Caller has learned that 100 tea party leaders from 25 states will announce Thursday that they are supporting Republican presidential candidate Newt Gingrich and will form a coalition called Tea Partiers With Newt.
The news comes as signs appear that tea partiers here in South Carolina, which holds a primary Saturday, may be coalescing around Gingrich.
“My sense is there is a growing coalition behind Newt Gingrich,” Joe Dugan, who leads the state’s chapter of Tea Party Patriots, told TheDC.
A news release that will go out Thursday from the Gingrich campaign says the coalition will “help elect Newt and defeat Massachusetts Moderate Mitt Romney and then President Barack Obama.”
How long will Santorum stay in the race?

His endorsement—and especially his donors will be welcomed whole heartedly by Newt
Here, read this if it hasn’t been psoted already: Perry donor defects to Romney, citing Bain attacks
Master Debater
You keep losing the vision that Newt’s the “master debater”. That’s the only reason he’s doing well, because he debates extremely well. It’s not his record; but his debating skills. In other words, people support him because he debates well. Exactly what you said people shouldn’t support a candidate for.

Let me see ifn I have this straight, the woman with whom Newt was cheating on his 1st wife is now upset that Newt subsequently cheated on her.
Yup. That woman should just shut her mouth. Washington Post has a better take in that while Gingrich allegedly (absolutely no reason to doubt it) asked for an open marriage he awas giving speeches around the country about how America was loosing its values and how the liberals were hurting American familes. One of his speeches was directed to a women’s group.

I know what you said and I know what you meant. now, why should anyone doubt he sought an open marriage. For the record I have no quarrels with Newt if he did. It’s in his past, I find his repentence from his previous despicable behavior is genuine and thus I’ve no desire to hold his past personal moral mistakes over him. But with that said, I think this shows the importance of not messing up in the first place. Also, as I said, the washington Post’s take is better and I can see legitimacy in doubting Newt’s sincerity since he wasan adulterer at a time when he promoted the idea of liberals hurting American families.

On Amnesty & keeping jobs for Americans:Newt: Control border. Nobody trusts gov;t for comprehensive bill (AMEN!!!). Wave restrictions on fence. Move half border partorl to Texas, Arizona, New Mexico. English as official language of gov’t. Easier to get in legally. Easier to deport. Guest worker program. Outsource to Visa or Mastercard. Economic sanction against those who hire illegally. Most will go home on own under his plan. those working, paying bills & has family. advocates WWII style draft bill. Appy if proven family ties, American sponsers you, and has job. no deportation of grandmothers and grandfathers.
Romney: Straightfoward issue. Fence, border partol to secure, system to give legals ID card and employers to check card. In not checked then said employers get sanctions. Nto round up & deport those here now but not give path to citizenship. coming here illegally no path to permanent citizenship
Santorum: Son of immigrant. Immigration great & fabric of society. Said Rromney used to
support path to citizenship. father cried for those who could not come. First thing to do [for immigrants] is to obey our laws. For those who have worked they probably have stolen Social Security or someone’s ID.Romney correcting Santorum: Wrote out his view. Those who come illegally could register but have to go back to country to get accepted. We are a pary of legal immigration.
Paul: No prosecution against individuals who hire illegals cuz it misdirects authority to individual being judge and police. We protect foreign borders but not our own. We need to protect outr own.
Newt: Exec Order to drop fed goverment lawsuit against states.

On Life:Newt’s flier said Romney changed his view & cain said ‘case closed & nobody spoke up so why legit now?
Newt; Romney became pro-life but Romneycare provided funds for abortions & appointed pro-abortion judges.
Romney (in response): Not questioned on character and integrity very often. Romneycare has no mention of abortion. Was state Supreme court which decided on abortion funding. Mentions Planned Parenthood on some sort of advisory. 40-50 judges, many were prosecutors, appointed and no litmus test if they were pro-life or not. Not a time to doubt other people’s words. Can count on him as president to seek pro-life policies.
Santorum: lots know tha if you say “medical care’ and not specify then courts rule t oprovide for abortion. legislators know this. We are not seeking one who checks the boxes tha are pro-life but those who have been out there fighting for life of unborn. Newt on social issues kept the out of Contract for America. Wants social issues back in.
Romney to Santorum: Commends Santorum. Vetoed embryo testing, pursued abstinence in education. Vetoed after morning pill.
Newt: Voted with Hyde & 98.6 % record on pro-life. 2X passed bll to end partial birth abortion (2nd time) to overrider Clinton veto.
Paul: (Chosen after protest for leaving him out). This is a medical issue. morality of country changed & law followed. It’s not the law to change but the morality of people. Gvo’t money can be used for abortion even wen law specifies no.
Santorum on Paul: Paul has voting record of pro-life at 50%, same as Harry Reid. (ouch!) Right to life a federal issue; not a state issue.
Paul on Santorum: Constitution does allow states to choose. (He is correct)

BREAK!!! -
Anything to do over if could:
Newt: Skip certain concultants and be who he is. use internet to create ideas.
Romney: Get 25 more votes in Iowa. (LOL!) Would like to spend more time talking about Obama. Smacking iobama on government and European hand out state.
Santorum: Not a thing. Had no money but went around talkng to people.
Paul: not one thing but continue to do what he always does. Provide a society which allows us to follow own desires. Work harder to deliver a great message.
________________________________________________________
On Amnesty & keeping jobs for Americans:
Newt: Control border.
For those who have worked they probably have stolen Social Security or someone’s ID.
Romney correcting Santorum: Wrote out his view.
_____________________________________________________________
On Life:
Newt’s flier said Romney changed his view & cain said ‘case closed & nobody spoke up so why legit now?

Conclusion 9run or embrace Governor Romney):
Paul: SC people respect freedom. ‘What will you do for state?” Constitution protects private property. Mountain of debt & not talkedabout tonight. Propses $1,000,000,000,000 from buidget “just ot get started”.
Newt: Thanks CNN & Charleston. imperative that we defeat B. Obama. Most dangerous prez of our time. 2nd term would be disastrous. We also need a principled vistory. Very dramatic & deep change in Washington.
Romney: Agrees w/ lots of last two said. Founders took deep thought that *Creator* endowes people w/ rights. Nnot state. O channigng economic engine of people making own choice. to entitlement. Never source of American greatness. He wants to fundamentally transform America but what needs to be done is to retore American values which has made it greatest nation on earth.
Santorum; Agrees but who’s best? Strict conservative & clear contrast w/ Obama is best. He did this for Congress and Senate,. He comes w/ character [& priciples] which voters need. Vote for Santorum.

The only silent treatment of any significance here is reflected in the absence of virtually
any other commenter since Sarge has squatted on this blog and, in his typically rude, crude and inconsiderate manner, begun treating someone else’s site as if it were his own. Most people with any social graces or self-awareness might ask themselves why everyone leaves the room when they show up, but not him. -

Laita is lucky to be alive as he was bitten by a black mamba, which is 100 percent fatal. New Scientist reports that Laita received a dry bite where no venom was injected. A doctor at the University of California, San Diego, states in this first aid guide to black mamba bites that dry bites are rare. According to New Scientist, Laita said it happened so fast that he didn’t even see the snake on his leg until he looked at his photographs the next day.
Lucky I guess. The photos of the sakes are neat. I love the colorations & color contrasts used.

What really irks me as well is that Sarge has no idea when to shut the _ _ _ _ up. I don’t think the notion that he’s grossly pushing another person’s anger to the point of becoming infuriating. Even if he’s right, he has no sense whatsoever as to when to give another person time to cool down. Alongside Tim’s analogy, he’s the woman who pokes and prods her man until he finally says something to her during a moment when the man (and typical to the male species) needs to sit with his own thought for a spell. I think tonight he’s deliberately advocating a fight.
Sad and borderline infuriating.

I kinda appreciated the debate play-by-play. Maybe I’m the only one without cable, but if’n I had to do something that prevented me from streaming it (and I missed the first hour, it appears), I would have at least had some idea of what was being discussed.
Thanks for the effort.

Just so you an others know, I didn’t blog the “play by play” to avoid anyone here tonight. When I tell someone I will no longer talk to that person tonight, I won’t talk to them. I missed the past couple of debates which I do not regret but I do enjoy hearing the candidates on the issue. I think that combinnig my missing the other debates and the primaries getting so close to South Carolina my enthusaism perked. I enjoyed conveying what the candidates said. No need for insulting me as Sarge did for doing so. there’s times where i like to summarize given speeches and written talks and i’ve been known to have done as much before. So don’t look into this too deeply.
Sarge, I’m going to break my word and whish you blessings for you and yours.

Sarge has never denied being a Yankee. One of the few of that breed I’ll capitalize the ‘Y’ with. They are just wired that way.
The debate opened with a cheap shot at Newt, he nuked the moderator and pretty much owned the event after that.
Romney floundered big time when he squished around how insurance providers would still be regulated. No denial of pre-existing conditions unless this or that. Still another big government regulator.
Santorum tried and did well to a point. He just did not come across with the passion and fervor as Newt and Mitt.
Ron Paul seemed pretty reigned in. I liked the round where the moderator skipped him on abortion and the audience called the moderator down on that. I still think he is the only one who can shake up the system. The rest are only a matter of how fast government grows.

‘Giving the Indian sign’ was what I remembered we called it. Googling affirmed it but not such a suprise, the sign means some kinda sex thing now.
Recently we passed the anniversary of the capture of the USS PUEBLO by the Norks. During thier early confinement, crew members would give the Indian sign to their guards behind thier backs. A guard caught them doing it, but had never seen the gesture before. The crewmembers told him it was the “Hawaiian good luck sign”, a guesture common in the US Navy to wish fair weather and good sailing to those who received it. The Norks bought the explanation. Thats why in nearly every picture of the crew there is one or more of the crew giving the sign.
The practice led to training for pilots and crews on missions where capture might be possible in the giving of coded hand signals to give in the event that captors attempt to use photographs as propaganda.
Eventually, the Norks discovered the truth and there were severt and painful beatings.
