Some of you people have had difficulty finding the cats in our previous efforts. Being the benevolent type, I am offering up another chance at redemption for you.
Actually, it’s one of twelve totally awesome pictures from the National Geographic 2011 world nature photography contest.

mharper42, Shannon is just making stuff up. The DH is the guy whose job is to get hit by a pitch to get on base. The rest of the players still get to swing away with their aluminum bats.

The AL doesn’t think it’s good TV to see someone in the batters box looking like
a girlObama, so they don’t make the pitcher go bat. -

Pentagon successfully tests hypersonic flying bomb
(AFP) – 20 hours ago
WASHINGTON — The Pentagon on Thursday held a successful test flight of a flying bomb that travels faster than the speed of sound and will give military planners the ability to strike targets anywhere in the world in less than a hour.
/snip
The US Army’s AHW project is part of the “Prompt Global Strike” program which seeks to give the US military the means to deliver conventional weapons anywhere in the world within an hour.I am really stunned that they think that we would never dream that a nuke would be mounted on that platform. Knowing the VSRs in the admin today, they will prolly try to regulate that a nuke could never be put on this vehicle.
Imagine the Oh-Crap-O-Meter inside of ahmajerkweasel’s head when we tell him that he must do such and so or watch one of his cities be converted to a glass parking lot – AND THEN DO IT WITHIN AN HOUR! Imagine what would happen with the 2nd phone call after the targeted city is incinerated; dya think we might get a little more cooperation? -

We already have nukes mounted on ICBMs that will deliver in a comparable time frame.
What this thing enables us to do is deliver a 500 lb bomb through some bad guys window as soon as we learn where he is, and do it from an airbase in Nevada. Right now we have to have drones or conventional fighters/bombers in the neighborhood to do the same thing.

This oughta give you a warm and fuzzy feeling. NOT.
The U.S. Treasury Department reported on Wednesday that as of the close of business on Tuesday the federal government’s debt had exceeded $15 trillion for the first time in the nation’s history–hitting precisely $15,033,607,255,920.32.
The Bureau of Labor Statistics estimated that there were 93,641,000 full-time private sector workers in the United States in 2010 (and 18,073,000 full-time workers in federal, state and local government). That means the $15.0336 trillion federal debt equals approximately 160,545 per full-time private sector worker.
The Census Bureau estimates there were approximately 76,089,045 families in the United States in 2010, the federal debt equals approximately $197,579 for each American family.

Chu takes responsibility for Solyndra loan
Nov 17 03:16 AM US/Eastern
By MATTHEW DALY
Associated PressWASHINGTON (AP) – Taking responsibility for a debacle that has embarrassed the Obama administration, Energy Secretary Steven Chu says he made the final decisions on a half-billion-dollar loan to a California solar company that later went bankrupt.
Chu, in testimony prepared for delivery Thursday to a House committee, said he made all decisions on Solyndra Inc. with the best interests of the taxpayer in mind.
“I want to be clear: Over the course of Solyndra’s loan guarantee, I did not make any decision based on political considerations,”.

Amen and a salute to you, Sir.
Non Sibi Sed PatriaeOver the chapel doors at the United States Naval Academy is a simple Latin inscription — Non Sibi Sed Patriae — “Not for self, but for country.” Simple, but powerful…. Selflessness takes time to develop.
Rarely does a man or woman suddenly grow a brain and a spine in the middle of an operating room or on a battlefield.
Likewise, rarely does a person develop a sense of selflessness in a single moment in time. Spontaneous selfless acts rarely happen. Instead, they are built on a strong moral foundation and then carefully layered by doing the right thing … time and time again.

#22 Pyro: Holder, Chu and O among others have taken bald faced lying to a whole new level. It is so bad that even the lib-VSR lamestream media is having a hard time ignoring it. This level of BS is really souring the populace on the entire bunch in DC, and it makes it that much harder to get anything done at all, particularly when the reformers (R) come back into power. It will be then that the LSM will comb over every word to try to find something that could possibly be taken out of context to be construed as obfuscation.
The good news is that the populace is becoming more aware of the complicity of the LSM for the lies of this admin; the LSM is loosing market share as a result. The presidential elections have been getting progressively more important since Carter; the next one will allow the US to survive (sweeping conservative R victory) or kill it outright with O staying in office. -

#24 EG: A very cool presentation indeed. I was able to identify the location of several of the passages. The one I missed but wanted to see was the dramatic difference in illumination of North and South Korea. That ought to be evidence enough that collectivism – in any of its forms – is a dismal failure, wherever it is tried.

Being able to measure freedom, education and relative prosperity visually is fascinating. You just don’t need any stinking numbers or political philosophy – just look at the lights at night.

Red banner on top of Drudge links to this story.
This particular phrase always get inserted:“The increasing use of hydraulic fracturing has raised a number of concerns about the potential impacts on water quality and availability, particularly with respect to the chemical composition of fracturing fluids and the methods used.“
The man I work for fracs wells all the time, and the overwhelming majority of the time the frac “chemical” is water and it is mixed with sand. Even if it was wissin diesel fuel, it is being injected into oil bearing rock and strata, it is not going to pollute anything. The operations in the Eagle Ford area of South Texas involves lots of wells and they all have to be fraced. This company uses salt water that is drawn from the formation as the primary frac fluid, the water is then recovered after the well comes in and is reused in the next well. So lets recap, they are taking SALT WATER the well bore and injecting it into a different zone and then recovering and re-using it. The eco-nazi-VSRs are using the term “frac chemical” as a scare tactic, while scrupulously avoiding identifying what exactly that evil chemical is. This is a great example of a lie of omission. I have spanked both Head and Heart Crusher for this very activity when they were little chirrenses.

I would not trust anything on that website.
They link to Birthers, Truthers and a veritable cornucopia of conspiracist whackjobs, not the least of which is Alex Jones and his Infowars.
Oh, and there is also the usual Final Solution hysteria:
The Rothschild crime family, self-described Jews (they are really teutonic zionists), controlled most of the “free” world before the USA became a superpower, and the Rothschild crime family corrupted our banks and government as our USA rose in power. Through money and brutal mobster tactics, the Rothschild crime family has corrupted our country from the beginning, more effectively during the last 100 years (Federal Reserve Act, 1913), and has firmly controlled the top level since at least their assassination of President John Kennedy.
and
You will find that approximately 90% of people in the world today who call themselves Jews are actually Khazars, or as they like to be known, Ashkenazi Jews. These people knowingly lie to the world with their claims that the land of Israel is theirs by birthright, when in actual fact their real homeland is over 800 miles away in Georgia.
and
So, next time you hear an Israeli Prime Minister bleating about the so-called persecution of the Jews, consider this, every Prime Minister of Israel has been an Ashkenazi Jew. Therefore when all these Prime Ministers have curried favour with the West for their re-establishment of a Jewish homeland, they have knowingly and deliberately lied to you, as they were never from that region, and they well know it, because it is they who call themselves Ashkenazi Jews.
and
Weishaupt soon infiltrates the Continental Order of Freemasons with this Illuminati doctrine and establishes lodges of the Grand Orient to be their secret headquarters. This was all under the orders and finance of Mayer Amschel Rothschild and the concept has spread and is followed within Masonic Lodges worldwide to the present day.
Weishaupt also recruits 2,000 paid followers including the most intelligent men in the field of arts and letters, education, science, finance, and industry. They were instructed to follow the following methods in order to control people.
1) Use monetary and sex bribery to obtain control of men already in high places, in the various levels of all governments and other fields of endeavour. Once influential persons had fallen for the lies, deceits, and temptations of the Illuminati they were to be held in bondage by application of political and other forms of blackmail, threats of financial ruin, public exposure, and fiscal harm, even death to themselves and loved members of their families.
All of the above is found on that site and much more.
These are absurd, fantastic and spectacular lies peddled for over a century, surviving despite being disproven a thousand times, and yet the most evil, black-hearted bastards among us continue to revive them.
Anyone is free to read and believe whatever they want, but should know I and millions of others will consider them an idiot, and a dangerous one at that.
Final Note: They really love Ron Paul over there, too.

When the President of the United States declines to approve an essential pipeline to move new oil from North Dakota and Canada to Texas, Oklahoma and Louisiana, it would appear more than coincidental his two wealthiest supporters happen to be the largest beneficiaries of that action standing to directly reap many millions of dollars in profits.
Stop us if you see a pattern here. About the time George Soros — Hungarian billionaire and key donor to leftist groups and the Democratic Party — invested heavily in the stock of the state-run Brazilian oil company Petrobras, President Obama was curbing U.S. offshore oil production and the U.S. Export-Import Bank announced a $2 billion loan to Petrobras to finance deep-water drilling off the pristine beaches of Sao Paulo and Rio de Janeiro.
As he was imposing curbs and moratoria on U.S. offshore drillers, President Obama wished the Brazilians well in the hope we would someday be Brazil’s best oil customer.
and,
Buffett’s Berkshire Hathaway has agreed to buy Burlington Northern Santa Fe in a deal valuing the railroad at $34 billion. Berkshire Hathaway already owns about 22% of Burlington Northern, and will pay $100 a share in cash and stock for the rest of the company.
North Dakota vaulted past Oklahoma and Louisiana in 2009 to be the nation’s fourth-largest oil producer after Texas, Alaska and California.
Rail shipments accounted for up to 65,000 of the nearly 343,000 barrels of oil produced daily in North Dakota in December. That percentage is likely to increase.
Many of the rail shipments from the Bakken fields are being handled by BNSF Railway Co., which has more than 1,000 miles of tracks in the region.
Michael Bruce, the railroad’s business development director, said BNSF could ship up 730,000 barrels of crude daily out of North Dakota “contingent on facilities being built.”

I didn’t believe you did. I wanted to point this out for others who might go there and wander into those subterranean sewers.
I’ve never heard of this site, but ones just like it continue to appear like cockroaches all over the internet. -
However, I just noticed there is a dead end on the last “Make more coffee”. There should be an arrow going down to the question “Did you make more coffee?” I guess that explains why there’s been a guy standing in the coffee bar for the last six months.

So does Chu get in line behind Holder to be “thrown under the bus” when it comes time to blame to be cast on anybody but Obummer? The only official thing left for Obummer to do is say “I have complete confidence in Sec. Chu.” and that will seal the deal.

My last comment on the subject:
It never ceases to amaze me how these imbeciles can weave convoluted conspiracies involving Jews, Freemasons, the Pope, the Italian Illuminati, Knights Templar, the Rothschilds, Lenin and Trotsky into one phantasmagoric tale while always, somehow, leaving out the Nazis.
It must be a simple oversight, I’m sure.

It all started in 1517 when some guy named Marty decided to organize that Occupy Wittenberg protest. There hasn’t been a moment of peace since then.

I heard on the Sam Alone radio program that the Guinness organization was going to be on-site in San FranSicko to certify the largest gathering of nude santas. Red and white hats and fur trimmed boots were acceptable but other than that it is to be “the full Monty”. Sounds like nothing but a snake pit to me.

Who’d a thunk that the year after the German Purity of Beer Law of 1516 that all that crapola would have started.

The man I work for fracs wells all the time, and the overwhelming majority of the time the frac “chemical” is water and it is mixed with sand.
You are partially correct. Frac fluid contains water and uses sand (the most common type of proppant – but there are others) in suspension. However, it is incorrect to say “the overwhelming majority of the time the frac “chemical” is water”. Frac fluid is a hydrated gel. The gel, prior to being hydrated, is called LFC (liquid frac concentrate). Modern hydration units monitor viscosity and pH of the hydrated gel on the fly as it is delivered to the blender (before it goes to the high pressure pump). If the fluid was just water, why would they bother with the extra expense of monitoring those parameters? I worked in the well service field for years and understand this technology.
Now if you want to argue that LFC is not hazardous to drinking water you can try to make that case. But by starting from the incorrect / incomplete premise that frac fluid is almost always water you’ve lost anyone who has an actual working knowledge of modern hydraulic fracturing techniques.

Here is a bit of information on liquid frac concentrate if you’re interested.

While I will readily admit that my experience is limited, most of the fracing that is done by the boss is a “slick-water” with sand as a proppant. I did not mean to imply that all fracs were the same because different formations require different stimulation techniques.
What is a common theme in a frac job is that the majority of the frac fluid is recovered in a productive well; therefore the threat to groundwater over a mile up sealed behind steel pipe and cement is not significant. -

Bones,(1) I thought you were a physiotherapist, if that’s the proper term, so how does it happen that (2) your employer is in the fracking business?
1) I am a Neuromuscular therapist. That is more of a sideline but is how I met my primary employer.
2) My primary employer is a very successful geologist who happens to have maccular degeneration and is unable to drive. He is also 88 years old. My job is to take him to the office every morning and wherever else he needs to go. I also change lots of light bulbs and do other odds and ends.
I get to pick his and others brains at the office and I read a lot. -

I said nothing about what your employer does. I said this:
Frac fluid is a hydrated gel. The gel, prior to being hydrated, is called LFC (liquid frac concentrate).
LFC is an aqueous solution. Many pesticides are also aqueous solutions. That doesn’t mean that using excessive amounts of pesticides such that they leach into our sewer systems is harmless by virtue of the fact that they are primarily aqueous solutions.
And besides, you’re just easy to mess with. Enjoy the ballet. 🙂

I don’t recall ever hearing about the primary employer before.I also change lots of light bulbs
Is that related to the boss’s vision problem? Or is it a joke along the lines of, how many Neuromuscular therapists does it take to change a light bulb? If the latter, you know I often miss the point.

Ok, how long have we had reviews in college football? Why do the announcers still find it necessary to explain after every instant replay that there must be irrefutable evidence to overturn a ruling? We know.

Hey, it happens. Don’t beat yourself up over it. Everyone has read something that sounded reasonable at the time, but turned out to have come from a festering swamp of nuttiness.
I mean it’s not like you claimed that wimmins were naturally much more stable-minded than the vast majority of menfolk.
Oh.
