down twinkles to the entire board of Penn State for not dealing with the pedophile sodomite Sandusky appropriately at the time when you first learned of the crime(s). Major down twinkles to the president at the time who chose to sweep the crime under the rug.

I think the board did act as soon as was reasonable once they found out.Why nobody used a bat at the time is beyond me.
Seriously, why nobody called the cops is also beyond me.

What you are saying is true for this board, my statement was directed at the board as it was composed then. Was it composed of the same people, what did they know and when did they know about it, did that board participate in any way of the cover-up?

Just last week, a cop ran a red light and cut into my traffic flow for no apparent reason other than he could.

Frankly, I’m glad that cops are being exposed for flouting the laws they are supposed to be upholding.

Wow, a university that did the right thing. Penn Start showed class in doing the right thing and forget the big bucks associated with college sports. If your sports program is good enough, it will survive something like this and be better off for it. It’s too bad it took down a guy like Joe Paterno.

Bummer. This Marine was killed 2 days before the Marine Corps Birthday by another Marine. The perp better hope he dies in the hospital, if he gets well and thrown in the brig, his fate will be worse than death.
MILITARY: Authorities say Marine was beaten to death by fellow Marine
A Marine found dead in his barracks room at Camp Pendleton early Sunday was beaten to death, a spokesman for the investigating agency said Tuesday.
Ed Buice of the Naval Criminal Investigative Service said Lance Cpl. Mario Arias Jr. died from injuries he suffered at the hands of another Marine sometime late Saturday night or shortly after midnight. That Marine then jumped from a third-floor balcony of the barracks and suffered what Buice described as “significant” injuries.
Authorities are refusing to release that Marine’s name and rank until charges are filed, Buice said.
“The pace of the investigation depends on his recovery,” Buice said during a telephone interview from the agency’s headquarters at Quantico, Va.
Arias’ death is considered a homicide and the Marine who leaped from the balcony is the sole suspect.

Duh! Nobody thought to check this before creating a special district?
After vote, Houston Latinos fail to capture district
By JOE HOLLEY, HOUSTON CHRONICLEBefore Tuesday’s election, Hispanic residents of Houston held only two of 14 seats on City Council, even though they make up 44 percent of the population. After Tuesday’s vote, Hispanics still held only two seats, despite the creation of an “opportunity district” for Hispanics, where 63 percent of the residents are from Latino backgrounds.
Despite those numbers, it was the Anglo candidate in the District J race, Mike Laster, who prevailed, easily defeating two Hispanic candidates. Laster, a lawyer and longtime community activist, got 67.3 percent of the vote, while his closest challenger, Criselda Romero, got 21.7 percent. The other candidate, Rodrigo Canedo, finished in third place with 11 percent.
Although Hispanics make up 63 percent of the 180,000 residents of District J, only 17 percent of registered voters are Hispanic. Many are non-U.S. citizens or under age 18.

It’s Bush’s fault doesn’t hold up for Holder on Fast and Furious, thanks to Senator John Cornyn.
It has become clear that for administration apologists, the favored approach for dealing with the “Project Gunwalker” fallout is to loudly shout “Bush did it too!” (as if that would somehow mitigate the atrocity of our government aiding in the murder two of federal law enforcement officers and hundreds of Mexican citizens). If this had not been obvious before yesterday’s Senate Judiciary Committee hearing with Attorney General Eric Holder, it certainly is now, with Senators Dianne Feinstein (D-CA) and Chuck Schumer (D-NY) enthusiastically beating that drum.
In 75 seconds of pointed questioning of Attorney General Holder (see sidebar video), Senator John Cornyn has perhaps left the excuse makers scrambling for something better. In that time, he asked Holder if he knew that Operation Wide Receiver (the Bush-era operation) actually did involve an attempt to track the firearms, while Fast and Furious did not. Cornyn then asked Holder if he knew that Operation Wide Receiver was run in conjunction with the Mexican government–Fast and Furious was kept secret from not only Mexico, but from the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (BATFE) attachรฉ to Mexico, Darren Gil. Gil, in fact, after discovering on his own what was going on, was basically pushed into retirement when he balked at the near act of war of “walking” guns into Mexico without the Mexican government’s knowledge or permission.
Holder was eventually forced into the position of having to put the “Bush did it too” excuse out of its misery himself:
Senator, I have not tried to equate the two–I have not tried to equate Wide Receiver with Fast and Furious. . . . Again, I’m not trying to equate the two.
Also, from another posting:
CORNYN: OK. Well, let me go on to something else. Do you still contend this is still a local law enforcement operation?
HOLDER: No, no; it’s a federal — oh, no, no, that — don’t misinterpret that. It’s a — it’s a federal law enforcement…
CORNYN: Well, they’re your words. You said it was it was…
HOLDER: No, no…
CORNYN: … a local law enforcement…
HOLDER: Well, then, that’s my fault.

Occupy Oakland Protesters Deposit Funds At Wells Fargo After Bank Attacks
November 9, 2011 3:37 PMOAKLAND (CBS/AP) โ A group of Oakland anti-Wall Street protesters who blame large banks for the economic downturn have decided that one of those institutions is the best place to stash their money for now.
Protesters at an Occupy Oakland meeting Monday voted to deposit a $20,000 donation into a Wells Fargo account. The move comes just days after one of Wells Fargoโs branches was vandalized during a massive downtown demonstration.
Wells Fargo spokesman Ruben Pulido said the move demonstrates that Occupy Oakland recognizes the value and service the bank provides its customers.

Are you wealthy and complaining about not paying enough tax?
From the U.S. Department of the Treasury, here’s what to do about it:Citizens who wish to make a general donation to the U.S. government may send contributions to a specific account called “Gifts to the United States.” This account was established in 1843 to accept gifts, such as bequests, from individuals wishing to express their patriotism to the United States. Money deposited into this account is for general use by the federal government and can be available for budget needs. These contributions are considered an unconditional gift to the government. Financial gifts can be made by check or money order payable to the United States Treasury and mailed to the address below.

Russian arms dealer Viktor Bout was convicted by the Dept. Of Justice for selling weapons to South American terrorists.
Eric Holder testified that to be legal he’s required to sell the weapons to the Justice Department, which gives them to a gun store on the border, which sells them to a cartel, which sells the weapons to the South American terrorists.

ATLANTA (CBS Atlanta) โ The home base for Occupy Atlanta has tested positive for tuberculosis.
The Fulton County Health Department confirmed Wednesday that residents at the homeless shelter where protesters have been occupying have contracted the drug-resistant disease. WGCL reports that a health department spokeswoman said there is a possibility that both Occupy Atlanta protesters and the homeless people in the shelter may still be at risk since tuberculosis is contracted through air contact.

Good afternoon Hamsters. A brief and light encounter with misty rain last night has us all in a tizzy and the plastic rain gauge filled briefly with more than air and a cobweb. Morning started out at 47, a rising breeze, and a huge setting Moon at 6. The rain gauge’s flirt with moisture is GWTW. Supposed to be colder tonight, in the 30s out here in the country. Maybe another frost.
Happy Birthday Marines. St. Michael the Archangel watch over them, defend them in battle, and bring them home to their loved ones.

Rick Perry was on Laura Ingraham’s program this morning. She had teased him about being late to the show, but he did call in before it ended. She advised him to go on Saturday Night Live instead of Letterman or any similar gotcha show. Maybe that’s because SNL has a bigger audience than Letterman et al?. Wouldn’t know personally since I don’t watch any of them. ๐

Just to make myself perfectly clear, I think Ron Paul is a dangerous man. But I would vote for him before I would vote for Rick Perry.

Well, cloudless night has taken over, the Moon has risen and is serene in her realm, the air is still, and the temp is falling like a rock. Down to 45 at 7:50 here in the country north of Richmond, and I’m sure we will have a freeze tonight. The sprinkler is going on the second half of the back yard to settle the fill dirt and maybe help germinate the rye seed I threw on it yesterday. The first half was watered most of the day. Maybe we should shut the sprinkler off before we go to bed tonight.
Our low was 31 last Friday, and that triggered the pecans and elms to finally turn yellow and start losing leaves, nipped some of the lawn and hanging on by the fingernails bermuda grass in the pastures, and turned the landscape into Fall at last. The red oaks and bur oaks are still summer green and hanging onto leaves. Getting very late for that. Strange weather this year.
Down to 44 at 8:00.

His pollsters gave him three agencies to eliminate that polled well, and he fergot one. If he was actually committed to reducing the size of gummint, he’d have 5 he could name right away.

โฆand please, there are no ex-Marines. Either you are or you never were.
Until recently, there was only one ex-Marine: Lee Harvey Oswald.
I understand there’s a push to add Jack Murtha to the list.

Mars Inc. (M&Ms) has pulled their sponsorship from Kyle Busch for the final 2 NASCAR Sprint Cup races this season. Think I’ll buy a big ol’ box of ’em tomorrow.

Mrs. Darren just came home from a church activity and said she had a “Brazilian kiss” for me. So I puckered up only to be shown a small pastery covered in coconut. I’ll try it eventually. Then she showed me a Taste of Texas gift card that she won. Whoohoo!!!

#57 – Don’t misunderestimate my ability to change a diaper. I changed plenty in my day, and I have a very soft place in my heart for kids. Now changing adult diapers is a completely different story.

Man–tRicky just said on Greta’s show that he would have the border shut down and secure in just 12 months if he’s elected.
Haven’t I heard that from the tRickster before?

Just trying to help you guys out. About this time, there are hundreds, of not thousands, of Marine Corps Birthday Parties beginning to break up. There will have been many toasts and drinks to health. Marines in such a state have been known to rip the head off of poges who calle them soldiers or ex-Marines, shizzle down the neck pipe, screw the head back on, and then walk away grumbling.
At least this way, you’ll know why.

There will have been many toasts and drinks to health.
And reminiscences of those no longer present in body, laughter for the good times and memories, tears for those time that were not as good.
Marines are a true brotherhood. What they share is special and known truly only by themselves.

They’re not the only ones.
They just have the purtiest uniforms.
