Oakland Mayor Jean Quan is a failure. She sent the police in to evict the Occupy Oakland rabble Tuesday, which they did. The rabble returned several times during the day and finally outlasted the efforts by the police to remove them.
By not finishing what she started, she has simply emboldened the mob to continue to squat in squalor and continue to try to make the point that they want … stuff. Or something.
If she evicts homeless people from parks and other public areas, she is clearly treating the Occupy mob differently, something that should be used in every campaign around the country against Democrats – that they treat a rabble of spoiled brats with the latest in electronic toys better than they treat the lowest among us.

OWS layabouts who are demanding free stuff from us and who are occupying a public park, denying its intended use to others and who are getting lots of donations are upset that local “urban outdoorsmen and outdoorswimmins” are joining them for dinner.
Of course the irony of all that is lost on them.

Nutter mother on a crusade to sanitize childrens’ play areas in restaurants.
I am of the firm conviction that all this sanitizing is doing two things: strengthening the bacteria strains present in the areas being “sanitized” and weakening our immune systems. Washing hands is all well and good, but the idea should not be killing the germs; it should be removing them.
People seem to have survived quite well in an unsanitized world. Why should we try (or even think it is possible) to sanitize everything around us. This loon is probably against immunization as well.

I new hear that Governor Perry has fallen into the racially baited trap dealing with the Confederate flag. Instead of allowing himself to become engaged in the issue, he should have merely stated something to the effect that it’s none of the government’s business trying to regulate everything – now apparently including flags – because someone else claims to have their feelings hurt. First the flat tax gimmick, and now being tricked into being drawn into the race issues are convincing me that he is not capable of being a contender. He, like Newt, Michelle, and whatever Santorum’s name is should stop embarrassing themselves further and bail out now.
I’m disappointed in the showing, and it’s fairly obvious to anyone who will look that Mr. Cain’s talents are limited, but after the Messiah, it is also apparent that Spongebob Squarepants could hold down the job for 4 years and not make it any worse. Romney sure could though.

I disagree that Romney could make it any worse. He could not. The problem is, he couldn’t (or wouldn’t) make it enough better that the country could clearly see why we need conservatives running the gubmint.gm, Hamsters, a busy week for me, just checkin’ in…

I was just thinking back on the campaign ad put forth by then candidate-for-governor Perry a while back. Remember, the one where he is standing out in the desolation along the Texas-Mexico border announcing to every jackrabbit within ear shot, โIf the federal government wonโt defend the borders, then Texas will.โ
His campaign that year was successful so he put those cowboy duds back in the cedar chest along with the campaign promises. Now heโs dug them out again, dusted them off, had the trousers let out a size or two, and bought a new can of Skoal Wintergreen to refresh the condom print in his right rear pocket. He has been observed of late touring around in a helicopter searching for cartelistas, coyotes and Romney fans to target with his Ruger LCP which he had Ronnie Barrett rebore to .50 bmg.
Oleโ Rick is out for blood this time around and he ainโt gonna let no Yankee, wind vane, carpetbagger get in his way. Meanwhile, back at the ranch . . . , another Border Patrol agent goes to jail.

We simply can not have “Pecos Perry” in the Whitehouse when there is so much better a choice like HERMAN CAIN!

Just because he called his base heartless and then tried to rescue his campaign by putting out a cobbled together plan that didn’t contain one origianl idea, thus confirming the critics who question his level of intelligence, you go all negative on him.

Yep. A Romney win in NH will be no big surprise. But apparently they like Huntsman more than they like Perry. I guess they haven’t heard about his economic acumen. Looks like “Undecided” is running in 3rd place, though.

Richard Miniter has an excellent article in Forbes Magazine.
Pretending that Romney is the real frontrunner, the pundits and the press contend that the 2012 GOP presidential contest will be a re-run of the GOP 2008 race: the establishmentarian who is next in line will win. This is a prejudice masquerading as an insight.
There’s a lot in here, and you should read the whole thing. I think it goes a long way towards explaining why Perry won’t be making a comeback, as well as warning that Romney isn’t as inevitable as some with old ways of political thinking might tell us.
The conventional analysis ignores a giant fact: A new force swept into American politics in 2009 and its influence continues to climb. Last year, it used nomination fights to eliminate two incumbent Republican senators (in Utah and Alaska, although Sen. Murkowski ultimately survived through a write-in campaign that attracted waves of Democratic votes), and defeated then-sitting Florida Gov. Charlie Crist in his bid for a U.S. Senate seat, thus sending Marco Rubio to Washington instead.
This new force defeated establishment Republicans competing for U.S. Senate seats in Kentucky, Nevada, Delaware and Colorado. While the new force doesnโt necessarily decide the general election, it shapes the GOP nomination process in virtually every state. The new force helped ensure the Republicans win control of the House of Representatives, handing the GOP its largest majority since the 1920s.
So why do the analysts act as if this new force is absent from presidential politics?
Actually, it has been very active in this cycleโs presidential contest. The new force initially put Rep. Michelle Bachmann in the lead. Then, as its doubts gathered, it courted Gov. Rick Perry, put him in the lead, and then, taking his measure, tossed him aside. In September, the new force fell in love with Herman Cain. As a result of its support, he is now the frontrunner, not Romney.

*** Update 7/18/06 *** You have to give the California Department of Motor Vehicles (the DMV) credit for creativity on this one. A DMV insider has disclosed to me that the DMV has made a formal request to a federal agency to rule if my Beetle constitutes a threat to national security based on what could happen if it got into the wrong hands. This raises three questions in my mind: #1 Does this mean Iโm the right hands? #2 If someone with the name “b_laden13” is the highest eBay bidder for my Beetle can I refuse his offer even if he has the prestigious eBay Red Shooting Star feedback rating (the highest)? #3 Would this affect my eBay rating?

I need a way to distinguish between competent engineers and those I have repeatedly butted heads with…
Shannon: We modified it because it doesn’t work as designed.
Engineer: Of course it worked. The numbers don’t lie.
After the engineer drags himself away from the office and out into the sweaty field, and after the field personnel waste a day demonstrating “it” doesn’t work as designed….
Shannon: See? It doesn’t work.
Engineer (scratching head): I just don’t understand.
This is an oft repeated little play I have starred in several times.

Those poor schleps who bought Greek bonds are getting a 50% kick in the scrotum.
European leaders reached a deal with Greek debtholders on Thursday morning that would see private investors take a 50 per cent cut in the face value of their bonds, a deep haircut that officials believe will reduce Greek debt levels to 120 per cent of gross domestic product by the end of the decade.
This news brought cheers to the market?? I guess it is great for the Greeks; not so much for those who bought the bonds with the expectation that they would be paid back.

Mormons are tool oppressors.
Hey, we use tools.
Since Utah is one the most Republican States in the union, electing some of the most conservative legislators and officials to federal, state and local positions; it is necessary to understand the beliefs officially and folkloric of the Mormon peoples and leaders. What is their position on the creation of a theocratic America? This is my contribution based on the doctrines and beliefs of the Mormon Church
10 That at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, of things in heaven, and things in earth, and things under the earth; 11 And that every tongue should confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father.
This passage from Phillipians 2:10,11 KJV is key to understanding dominionist thinking in Christianity. It literally claims that in heaven and earth, everyone will bow and confess Jesus as Lord.
To accomplish this, the Church is the ultimate corporation. Tax free cash in the form of 10% tithing receipts and a male priesthood order that is organized around the world like an Aryan Wehrmacht. Branches, Wards (congregations), Stakes (Dioceces), Regions and Missions with Command Central in Salt Lake City; control businesses, economies, communities and governments through it’s sheer organizational prowess, power and outreach. The Church rivals only the Federal government and The Catholic Church in real estate holdings. Because the church does not release any financial reports, no one can accurately determine the wealth and income of The Church.

Understanding Mormon Theocracy and Dominionism -
Look what I found.
Misstatement:
“Church has lowered its profile, but Utah ‘theocracy’ will be seen and felt nonetheless.”
Fact:
Mr. Hugh Hewitt, writing for the WorldNet Daily (“Sneering Agnosticism”. January 15, 2002), perhaps responded to this statement best:
“Sometimes the prejudice is subtle. Sometimes it is so boldly breathtaking as to make a reader blink. Sunday’s Los Angeles Times provided an example of the latter sort of drive-by hit piece.
“Utah is not a theocracy and, of course, the real ‘theocracies’ in the world are in especially low esteem today. … But civil libertarians ought not to tolerate such slanders as ‘theocracy’ thrown loosely around the front page of a formerly great newspaper.”
Hewitt knows his stuff.

… But civil libertarians ought not to tolerate such slanders as ‘theocracy’ thrown loosely around the front page of a formerly great newspaper.”Utah Theocracy

Oil production slips under Chรกvez.
According to central-bank data, Venezuelaโs oil GDP dropped by 7.2 percent in 2009 and by 2.2 percent in 2010. During the latter year, its total oil production hit a seven-year low (in real terms). When we chart fluctuations in global oil prices between 2009 and 2010, these numbers donโt make much sense. As the Venezuelan newspaper El Universal has noted, the average price of oil was more than 27 percent higher in 2010 ($72.60) than it was in 2009 ($57.01). Yet โthe operational capability of Venezuelaโs oil industry was significantly affected by poor oil services (which were seized and nationalized in 2009), by poor maintenance of rigs and oil shipping facilities, and a higher number of plant shutdowns.โ
Brazil Rises as Venezuela Declines
But as of late, Brazil’s been going commie as well. Any predictions on how that’ll turn out?

I heard part of the Berry show this afternoon when he had Crockett Keller on as a guest. Berry was goofing around and played that New Age prayer soundclip, praying for the 4-leggers and the wingers and the slitherers, and asked Keller which of those he would shoot. Keller said none of ’em. He would kill a rattlesnake but not a bull snake, it all depended. Seemed to impress Berry with his thoughtfulness. Impressed the hell outa me, for sure. A real standup guy. -

Katfish;
John McNaughton has some amazing works. THIS is his website. I first came aware of him right around the time LST went bye-bye via a National Review post. The Forgotten Man is what that post entailed.
I was blown away by how detailed that painting was and thoroughly agreed with its message.

Good post. Someone has posted McNaughton’s “The Forgotten Man” for us before. Here’s that one again, in the format where you can move the cursor around to get an enlargement of that area, and “tool tips” to identify the figures.

I am only just now starting to study up for the Nov 8 election. I know absolutely nothing about the 10 state propositions so got some catching up to do. If you live in Harris County, here’s a voter-specific sample ballot.
