Tuesday “Shuttin’ ’em Down” Open Comments

From a link supplied by our very own GTOTracker:
Shutting down the Oakland Occupation
As I logged on and listened to this stream this morning, I was struck by how often the videographer complained about a “lack of transparency” when a cop refused to give a badge number or refused to allow them into areas that still were active with police activity.
It seems that the cops have removed the tents and barricades set up by the protestors.
Is this the beginning of the end? Or is it the beginning of a new round of protests?
Big question – will Obama claim the police “acted stupidly”? And will this continue to deflect attention from Obama’s failures and missteps and Constitutional sidesteps?
UPDATE: As of 8:50 am, the streaming video went off-air. Came back up at 9:00 am. (Houston time, that is). Don’t know how long the streaming will continue.
UPDATE: Link from BigGovernment.com
And this is just a little funny.

From the comments section of the Big Govt linkie:

Looking at the photo I am going to make some guesses. The girl in front is an anchor baby who wants amnesty for her parents. The girl in back is smart but never been popular so she decided to hang with the crowd. The guy on the right, he will go anywhere and do anything in the hope of having sex. Sadly he will get arrested and the only hope for sex is in lockup. 🙂

Ifn you haven’t clicked the linkie, the guy on the right is wearing a bright red shirt with Lennin on the front – commie jack-wad!

Well, at least we, like the rest of the sheeple, don’t have to be bothered about Soyledlaundry, Fast, Loose, and Furious, thEurpoean financial implosion, the dire economic straits we face, the pathetic behavior of the RINO’s in the House when Obama declares to sidestep Congress and proceed doing whatever he wants to, ongoing outrageous spending, and the like. Frankly, I would have thought by now that people would tire of the circus and return to dealing with reality. I guess we do get the government we deserve if this is what attracts our ongoing attention.

G’Morning all (from the mighty mouse hunter)

3 days ago I discovered a mouse in the pantry. (Apparently driven by drought desperation to stay alive.) I peanut buttered an old wooden trap I have and it just stole the bait. Yesterday I bought and Ortho mouse trap that has a platform trigger rather than just the little clippy-do hook. This morning at 6:30AM I heard the tell tale snap. The little guy didn’t suffer at all. The shark tooth design hits right behind the head. He never heard the jaws snap.

What I’m saying is, if you ever need a mouse trap (or larger rat trap) look no farther than Ortho.

Get several Kleenex out for this, It is a happy story about a great dane who had her eyes removed with some great pictures. After you read the heart warming story, read the comment from the animal adoption agency why they are up for adoption, then you can get really wissin mad at the owner.

When illness forced vets to remove Great Dane Lily’s eyes, the prospects of a fulfilling life didn’t look good.

But then no one had reckoned on her pal Maddison stepping in to turn guide dog.

The pair have been inseparable for years but now find themselves looking for a new home because their owner could no longer cope.

The catch for anyone interested is that the Great Danes come as a package. They have been waiting at the Dogs Trust re-homing centre in Shrewsbury since July.
Homeless: Blind Great Dane Lily with her canine carer Maddison

Manager Louise Campbell said: ‘Maddison is Lily’s guide dog. If they are out and about, for the majority of the time Maddison will lead and Lily will walk nearly touching her so she knows where to go. It’s lovely to watch. Maddison is always looking out for her.’

Friends leave man stuck swinging at Vallejo park
    Times-Herald staff report/
    Posted: 10/23/2011 01:01:10 AM PDT

A Vallejo man was found in a child’s swing Saturday morning after reportedly being stuck for about nine hours, police said.

At about 6 a.m., a groundskeeper of Blue Rock Springs Park heard a man screaming when he arrived at work. He then called the police to investigate.

Upon arrival, police found a 21-year-old man stuck in a child’s swing, which has two leg holes.

The man told police that he had been stuck in the swing since 9 p.m. Friday after he allegedly made a $100 bet with his friends. He proceeded to lube himself with laundry detergent to get into the swing, police said.

The friends then reportedly left him swinging through the night.

Vallejo firefighters then were called to rescue him by cutting the swing chains off. He was then transported to Kaiser Permanente Vallejo Medical Center, where firefighters used a cast cutter to cut the swing off his body, firefighters said.

    He sustained non-life threatening injuries

St. Mary’s Cathedral bell stolen in S.F.
    Will Kane, Chronicle Staff Writer
    Tuesday, October 25, 2011

SAN FRANCISCO — The bell at St. Mary’s Cathedral rang through the 1906 San Francisco earthquake and fire. It survived when an arsonist torched the old cathedral in 1962. And although it was replaced with an electronic chime in the 1970s, for decades it stood strong on a wooden platform outside the rebuilt church.

But sometime in the last month, metal thieves made off with the 122-year-old, 2.7-ton bell.

That saying is hanging on my “Wall of Wit and Wisdom” – my powder bath. The wall is covered with placards with sayings of all types, including quotes from the founding fathers to silly stuff, from the thought provoking to the grin-inducing.

When we have a gathering, it takes people a long time to clear the restroom.

I think some of them have been stolen, as I have a few gaps in the wall where it used to be covered rather well. I suppose I must make some new placards to fill in the holes. I can’t have any holes in my wall!

I was born in 1952 and growing up I don’t recall anyone ever mentioning breast cancer. It seems to have become, in my memory, a prominent point of public discussion in the late 70s to early eighties.

This writer fills in the blanks and exposes why we have experienced a dramatic, stunning 40% increase in female breast cancer over the last 30 years. Don’t expect the MSM to publish similar articles anytime soon.

Public health authorities, however, dare not cross the cultural Rubicon with an army of politically incorrect facts – even in the name of women’s health. Not even concern about breast cancer, it turns out, stands in the way of unbridled allegiance to absolute individual freedom, particularly in the arena of sexuality, which so characterizes today’s culture. In saner times, the imperative to recommend what is truly best for women’s health would prevail.

No one would counsel a woman to have a child, say, by her early 20s for the sole purpose of reducing breast cancer risk. But, simply put, a woman can do nothing more protective than having several children, beginning at an early age, and breastfeeding them all. Women who never give birth (including nuns) are at higher risk; having a first child later in life (over age 30) also heightens susceptibility.

The steroids taken by more than 100 million women around the world to prevent pregnancy — oral contraceptives – are known human carcinogens, according to the International Agency for Research on Cancer. In 2006, the Mayo Clinic concluded that a woman who takes OC before her first full-term pregnancy stands a 44 percent greater chance of contracting breast cancer prior to menopause, compared with those who don’t take OC before giving birth. Using OC for four of more years prior to first full-term pregnancy is even more risky.

    From the article in #21:

Induced abortion is also a major risk factor. A recent (2007) multi-country study found that having had an abortion was the greatest predictor of subsequent breast cancer. Going back decades, study after study (with only a few exceptions) has demonstrated the connection; a methodologically sound review of the available evidence determined that it raises the risk of breast cancer by approximately 30 percent. (See this exhaustive summary). Electing to have an abortion before one’s first full-term pregnancy is even riskier.

I think A&M will make a good fit for the SEC. As weird as Mizzou moving to the SEC is, even weirder is who the Big XII will replace them with:

Multiple sources, including the New York Times and the Charleston Daily Mail, are reporting that West Virginia will leave the Big East and join the Big 12.

The move will likely be the final crippling blow for the Big East, which was down to just six football member schools after the departures of Syracuse and Pittsburgh to the ACC last month.

West Virginia has been the most nationally recognizable team in the Big East for the past decade and losing such a notable team would really kill the conference’s credibility, which had been dwindling in recent years as it is.

The Mountaineers are likely to replace Missouri, who has been rumored to be close to becoming the SEC’s 14th team.

And all this silliness because of TU’s special network.

Good afternoon Hamsters. Another day and a half to go before the cold front arrives and maybe brings some rain. Meantime the heavy ground fog this morning will have to do in starting to germinate the rye grass seed spouse spread in two of the pastures on Sunday. Plenty of birds are out in both pastures, some squirrels too. Hope they get tired of working to find those itty bitty seeds and go after the acorns that are easy to find. The oaks have been raining acorns for several weeks, and they’re a menace on the sidewalk at night–easy to slip on them.

Aircraft Owners and Pilots Association (AOPO) President Craig Fuller told The Daily Caller that Obama’s comments have cast a pall over the industry, causing many who were considering buying a plane to back away from making a purchase.

“The industry has suffered terribly in the last two and a half years and it has just started to recover. Most of the signs were starting to look good,” said Fuller. “We are so angry as an industry and we have all come together to try to bring a more fair and balanced description to the debate.”

In response to Obama’s press conference, the General Aviation Manufacturers Association (GAMA) and International Association of Machinists and Aerospace Workers (IAM) issued a letter to the president. The two organizations challenged the administration’s rhetoric and recalled a similar instance in which 20,000 IAM workers were laid off as a result of “ill-informed criticism of corporate jets and business aviation” and the 2008 downturn.

150 Piper employees and 55 contract workers laid off

While the Altaire program was on schedule and budget, Carlon said “the market for light business jets is not recovering sufficiently enough or quickly enough for us to continue developing the program under the economic conditions we currently face,”

Employees were being informed of the company’s decision Monday morning. Local government officials involved in securing incentive money for the company a few years ago also were being notified.

“Obviously, it’s disappointing,” said Indian River County Commissioner Peter O’Bryan, the economic development liaison to Piper. “but I think it’s clear that the world economy has not rebounded sufficiently to make it financially feasible to move forward right now.”

Yeah baby, can’t wait to hear John Denver’s whiny voice (Country Roads take me home) mixed with “Dinah won’t you blow” reverberating through DKR stadium every couple years. That may just be worse than Boomer Sooner or Later.

Umm, is all this maneuvering, dealing, speculating, plotting, etc. about teams moving to different conferences–or not– and the foreseen consequences thereof building up to a script for Maxwell Smart talking into his shoe? Then there are the unforeseen consequences lurking in the weeds, ready to spring. What a zoo.

Would you believe…..UCF (in Orlando) and Hawaii in the same conference? That is absolute silliest thing I’ve heard proposed; a merger of Mountain West and C-USA.

    Now for something completely different.

What would happen if, say, presidential candidate Michele Bachmann staffed her publicity team with Python skit writers? Her television ads certainly would be entertaining. But would they be effective or dismissed as frivolous? You be the judge…

I predict Eric the half a bee Holder will keep his job because the repubs don’t have the guts to follow through and hold his feet to the fire over Fast and Furious.

That’s also the reason Dictator Obumma gets away with anything he does–The repubs are like scared rabbits of the media and the ‘R’ word so they do nothing.

If I am wrong about Holder, I will write 100 times on the chalkboard…

I just saw on the news where the Flea Party in Houston has asked for free electricity and the right to pitch tents in the park so they can continue their “free speech”. I may not like our mayor, but she told them that no one is allowed to camp in the parks and the city provides free electricity to nobody.

Which opens a legal opening for the group, because they’re the biggest bunch of nobodies I’ve ever seen.

The flea party gave a not-so-veiled threat about blocking entrances to city hall and invading/disrupting businesses if they didn’t get their way.
