Monday Sucka Open Comments

(secret meeting of the Hershey’s marketing team)
Evil Hershey’s Capitalist Sales Manager: Let’s face it, gentlemen. There’s not too many new ideas in chocolate. We’ve done it all. So what can we do to increase profits?
Evil Hershey’s Capitalist Sales Toadie: How about we pump the chocolate full of air bubbles while it’s liquid? We’d use 50% less chocolate but we could sell it for the same price as a solid bar!

Good morning Hamsters. The original greeting got caught in the transition to today’s opening post and disappeared into the ether. Probably that fits with the still-heavy ground fog on the moors and 66 overnight. Fog is still heavy at 8:30, but maybe that’s because we’re only a quarter mile from the Brazos. Trees still dripping big spots on the patio and walkways give the plants a drink in lieu of little prospect for rain with the front coming tonight.

Bring on that front. Thank you, Lord.

If Sean Penn married Sean Young and she took his last name, we would be blessed(?) with two Sean Penns for whom aerated Hershey bars might be very appropriate.

Gotta go take care of an electrical problem in the Gallopin’ Ghetto and return it to the RV shed. I’ll rejoin this riotous behavior this evening. Have a great day all.

It doesn’t take a stronger regulator, or even a Canadian citizen, to know that when Barney’s Frank and Chris Dodd speak, listen very carefully and believe just the opposite of whatever you hear. Same is true with most other Dems as well. Of course, when listening to members of the CBC, the dialogue is usually so convoluted and discombobulated that it will make no sense no matter how you try to apply this logic.

The irony here is much thicker than the fog in glorious Copperfield at 6:30 this morning!

Clinton acknowledged that serving under Obama was initially awkward. Obama did, after all, beat her for the Democratic presidential nomination.

Reason #48,372 why direct democracy is a bad idea:

Bobby Cooper, who is on the sanitation working group, said volunteers had been planning a mass cleaning of the park for about a week but no decision had been made on their proposals because of drawn-out discussions.

“We’re here, we’re unclear, get used to it!” it said.

    3) We’re not bailing him out of jail if he gets arrested.

    5) Maybe he’ll find his future bride out there.

    6) Now, maybe he can “occupy” a park bench.

    7) If they start rioting, I hope he brings home a good HD TV.

    8) Well, now we can start running around the house naked, again.

    9) Why doesn’t he just “occupy” a job ?

    10) Considering what we have now, why doesn’t he just “occupy” the White House?

re: #29 From the linked Mother Jones article:

None of that should matter, anyway. Is a degree’s intrinsic value really reducible to its marketability? Just a few blocks from the governor’s mansion, the Florida State University anthropology departmentโ€”already ravaged by cuts and unable to admit new studentsโ€”is fighting for its life by reminding visitors that anthropology is not only cost-effective and desirable on the job market, it’s morally satisfying, too. “The Anthropology Department educates students about the lack of biological support for the race concept and challenges the racist ideas that have led to inequality and exploitation,” the department’s website states. Hard to put a pricetag on a lesson like that.

Only the liberal mind of academia could possibly come up with a scheme to justify categorizing everyone by race by pointing out the entire concept of race has no biological support.

Lovely had a classmate in high school that went to get a degree in either sociology or anthropology. I asked what she was going to do with that degree, and she said it was very helpful in marketing and business study. I’ve heard that some liberal degrees are not reviled, because the theory is that the student has learned to think, not just memorize.

IMHO, that may be true for a few cases, but “Women’s Studies”? Ethnic studies? I think not.

CEI has learned of a UN plan recently put in place to hide official correspondence on non-governmental accounts, which correspondence a federal inspector general has already confirmed are subject to FOIA. This โ€œcloudโ€ serves as a dead-drop of sorts for discussions by U.S. government employees over the next report being produced by the scandal-plagued IPCC, which is funded with millions of U.S. taxpayer dollars.

Well, some democrats called the Hyatt and threatened to protest the Pamela Geller book signing and the Hyatt caved. Now we have to find another place by tomorrow. Typical free speech double standards from that lot.

A couple weeks back I noticed similarities between today’s flea-baggers and 1968’s hippies, and commented that it wouldn’t bode well for Democrats next year. I encouraged them to embrace the riff-raff. Here’s someone else’s take:

So here we are forty-odd years along, and what has changed? Nothing, if you’re a Democrat. The same exact chain of events is occurring with the Occupy Wall Street gang. The 99ers are the Chicago mob with the addition of iPhones and minus the seriousness. Their appearance is similar — high-priced boho rags, to-hell-with-it hair. Their rhetoric is indistinguishable. (“Power to the people, man!”) Their behavior is identical: show up, hang out, yell, and posture for the cameras. The goal is the same — take down the power structure. And so will be the result — the destruction of the Democratic Party.

The media has carefully nurtured the 99ers as an alternative to the Tea Parties, despite the fact that they can scarcely muster 1% of the latter’s numbers. The Democrats have been quick to jump on the bandwagon. Obama has made encouraging noises. Nancy Pelosi has offered direct praise. Rep. John Lewis showed up in Atlanta and got himself made a fool of. According to the New York Times, “[t]he Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee, the party’s powerful House fund-raising arm, is circulating a petition seeking 100,000 party supporters to declare that ‘I stand with the Occupy Wall Street protests.’” (Hat tip: Peter Wehner.) Clearly, the Dems have adopted the movement and are going whole hog over it, with the media doing their best to assure that the connection is not overlooked.

The paradox here is, of course, is that the Wall Street moguls that the demonstrators are so eager to get at were Obama’s most crucial supporters in 2008. A large chunk of the stimulus funds went to the financial houses that the mob wants to shut down. (Much of the rest went to the unions, which have now come out in support of the 99ers — so now we have Obama’s two biggest allies at each other’s throats. That, in a nutshell, is liberal logic at work.)

There’s no way this can end well. Yet the Democrats act as if it’s all destined to work out according to their requirements of the moment. When it goes off, as it will — the attacks on the cops in New York, the riot at the National Air and Space Museum in D.C., and the appearance of hardcore anarchist contingents reveal that clearly enough — they will own it, just as they owned the Chicago riots. The voting public will derive the same lesson as they did in 1968.

Let’s just hope we don’t get another Nixon.

Stole borrowed this from another blogger……………..

Well the obvious thing is that if you make your money inventing say the iPhone……and don’t give a dime to charity…produce your products in China…to the liberal masses you are a hero…a deity worthy of worship………………………but if you made your money producing oil….arguably much more essential in our lives than an iPhone, gave millions to charity, continuously fight to be allowed to produce good jobs in America…..you are evil slime who isn’t paying your fair share and must be punished and put out of business.

    ah the terrible irony dernit!

You are never too old to make a difference.

As we get older we sometimes begin to doubt our ability to
“make a difference” in the world. It is at these times that
our hopes are boosted by the remarkable achievements of
other “seniors” who have found the courage to take on
challenges that would make many of us wither.

Harold Schlumberg is such a person:

    QUOTE FROM HAROLD:
“I’ve often been asked, ‘What do you old folks do now that
you’re retired?’ Well, I’m fortunate to have a chemical
engineering background, and one of the things I enjoy most
is converting beer, wine and vodka into urine.
Then I [PEE] on a photo of Obama!
I do it every day and I really enjoy it.”

Harold is an inspiration to us all.
