Monday Raising Cain Open Comments

I hope Herman Cain can start getting more traction. I don’t know enough about him to actually vote for him yet, but I’ve heard more than enough to make me want to know more. At the very least, he would be able to keep the more, for lack of a better word, “establishment” candidates from drifting too far off the reservation.

In one example, he came out swinging this weekend over the current impasse over FEMA funding. The House passed legislation to fund FEMA and the Corps of Engineers more to account for extra work they’ve had to do recently by reducing expenditures elsewhere. Harry Reid tabled that and got legislation passed that funds FEMA using “future revenue” (deficits). Cain slapped him for that, while the other candidates ummm… did something?

I like Cain, but wonder if he has the insiders or contacts to actually get anything done if elected. He may be dependent on entrenched ‘old guard’ folks that would make it near impossible to keep his promises.

I’m so glad that Cain did so well in the poll. I think he deserves to be treated more seriously by the press.

Herman Cain โ€“ โ€œIโ€™m blacker than Barackโ€ candidate

That is the way that the LIB-VSRs will attempt to play it. I have not found any evidence that Herman Cain uses his race at all. The only time his race ever comes into play is when he describes his dirt poor upbringing, he was the definition of “underprivileged” at yet he, like Clarence Thomas rose above all that crap and made himself a success with out affirmative action. He really is the anti-O’erkle, he is one that we all should point to and say ‘That is how you do it’!

Understand that the pain decreases a little each day and the healing only comes after the grief. You and yours will get through this.

#24 – I didn’t mean to insinuate that. I think he’s a stand-up guy who is truly “post racial”, unlike our HNP. My list was meant to be a joke.

While I admire Cain, I don’t think it’s possible to run a government like a business, at least for a conservative. The objective of business is to grow. The conservative objective for government is (or should be) to make it as small as possible. Sure, there are aspects of business management that can and should be applied. But the president’s “management team” is Congress. When they screw up (and they will) he can’t fire them.

The objective of a business is to make a profit. Getting rid of redundancy and excess overhead is a first step when taking over a failing operation. Mr Cain will find that very frustrating to accomplish in D.C., but he is the only one running who may give it a serious try. imo.

#28 I agree. An example on a much smaller scale was what Bettancourt did when he came into the Tax Assessors office. Improving efficiency can go a long way. Eliminating a couple of cabinet-level departments on his first day in office would be a good start. My biggest concern with Cain would be foreign affairs.

Just to show that I don’t “discriminate” between Republicans and Dummycrats, I am going to write a “Top Ten” list of captions for this Herman Cain picture. I hope the liberals enjoy it. Here goes:

    1) “Let’s see Obummer play the “race” card on me!!!”

    2) “I don’t need no stinkin’ affirmative action to get ahead.”

    3) “If I was a member of CBC, I would put Muddy Waters in her place.”

    4) “Unlike Obummer, I have a birth certificate and a college transcript.”

    5) “Some of my Republican candidates need to drop out so we can have a real debate.”

    6) “Let’s see one of those debate moderator’s try to ‘race’ bait me.”

    7) “If Obummer were in the business world, wonder if he would be giving things away.”

    8) “If Obummer wants to play ‘class warfare’, then I gamed.”

    9) “Unlike Obummer, I actually worked for a living.”

    10) “I’ll bet you, Obummer, considers me to be an ‘oreo’ in his eyes.”

See, I knew I could be objective when it comes to writing “Top Ten” lists.

Have any of you people gotten a driver license for a kid lately? I’ve tried to call the DPS, but they only have recordings. Apparently in this region, you have to make an appearance to make an appointment, then another to take the in-car test. What’s up with that? What documentation do you have to bring?

Boy, my day took a downturn. I had to fire one of my office staff just before lunch time today. We’ve had two occasions of missing money, but I couldn’t prove who the thief was. I had some bait money sitting on my desk now for four days, and I recounted it this morning and wrote the amount down so my memory wouldn’t be in question. I went to run errands, and $20 was missing. My helper, whom I’ve become very fond of, had no explanation for where the money went. I have proof that there was no one else in the office this morning. I had no choice but to fire her. She went to pick up her boyfriend, who walked off the job where he was working with Hubby. He called me and accused me of firing her unfairly, but calmed down when I told him I’d been dealing with missing money for a month now, and was trying to be careful with the situation so that I wouldn’t fire anyone (hoping it was me losing stuff). He calmed down a bit then and I explained the whole morning timeline. She’s still proclaiming her innocence, but I have no other explanation for what happened to the cash.

Man, I hope I don’t ever have to do that again. Firing people is tough. Especially when they’re so likeable.

Fathom a government that requires every citizen to prove they are insuredโ€ฆbut not everyone must prove they are a citizen.

Plus I heard that Muslims don’t believe in insurance so they are waived from ObamaScore whether they are citizens or not.

#43 Pyro: Let’s make matters even more worser ( :>) ) The youngun has to go back when he/she is 17 and again when 18, but at least they can do that without you. You can also put 4 to one odds that ifn your tester is a black woman and the kid is a white male, he will fail the driving test. That has been my experience with my son over the last couple of years. I strongly suggest that you go out to Columbus or somewhere away from the city and hopefully you will only have to attend once.

That’s all swell, but trying to get to Columbus twice is a serious hassle. For the 17 & 18 year visits, do they retest or what?

Doooood, I am glad that you reconnected with The Couch to share your sorrow with all your friends here today. My condolences to you and your family.

My good friend’s mom died this morning also, after several weeks of hospitalization, so it was not a surprise for them.

Naw Shannon. Ask anyone and try to convince them I’m not in Austin County. My address says I am but Colorado County just takes my tax money at half the rate Austin County would. Thanks, keep up the donations on my behalf. Some of us appreciate it.

#52 Ya wanna go out of the city for the test, and there flaming arrow has a better chance of passing on the first try. The license is only good for a year but they have to renew in person, which they can do on their own, ifn they do it in a timely fashion ie about a month before their birthday. There is no retest required, just line standing mind numbing waste of time Bravo Sierra.

Have any of you people gotten a driver license for a kid lately? Iโ€™ve tried to call the DPS, but they only have recordings. Apparently in this region, you have to make an appearance to make an appointment, then another to take the in-car test. Whatโ€™s up with that? Kids have to take off from school (and parents from work) twice?
What documentation do you have to bring?
    What a freakinโ€™ nightmare.

All I know is this, we were told that our kids HAD to go to Drivers Ed before they could get their License, BUTT after all the “Home Schoolers” complained, they changed the law so that the Parent,… and that would be ME! could teach the kid to drive, BUTT, not before we sent off to the State to get a package to teach them, keep up with the hours and all that stuff,…so when the smoke cleared and after Daughter scared the CRAP outta’ me, all she had to do was take the written test!? She didn’t have to sit by a State Trooper and Moor, YES Moor a 1965 Chrysler into a parallel parking space like I did! Did the same thing with the Boy, Butt heโ€™d been driving the Jeep around the deer lease since he was 12 so all we had to do was the class work. Hope this helps, ๐Ÿ˜‰

I might add that when Daughter was learning to drive I had an old 97 GMC Pick-Um-UP with a factory radio and 4 speakers. I’m pretty sure that I had never listened to FM and certainly didn’t give a crap about Bass/Treble. The FIRST thing Daugher did after adjusting the mirrors and putting on the seat belt was tune the radio to a country station and crank up the Bass/Treble and the volume to about 137 Db! When I looked glared at her she said, “bet you didn’t know that your radio could do that.” Well HE!! no I didn’t, the bass was unbelievable, rattled the dang windows and I’m sure the folks in Colorado thought that there was an earthquake on the coast of Texas. ๐Ÿ˜‰

ok โ€“ howโ€™d you get outta the drive-along test?

Well, you take the yout to the DMV and take the test for the learners permit, then you send $$$ to the state and they send you a “Drivers Ed Package” that you use to teach your kid, it’s about an inch thick with tests and a log sheet where you keep up with the hours that your kid drives, I might add that you have to teach so many hours and then drive so many hours. When you get through and send the tests to the state, you go and get the License, NO driving test!! UNDAYAAM beliebvable to me BTW. FWIW; It was this way in 2000/2001, Daughter and 2003/2004, The Boy, I guess it’s still this way?…. Not Sure, Tedtam should know…..ducks and huals BUTT!!!

During his vacation at Martha’s Vineyard – President Obama had been
slicing off the tee on every hole. He asks his Scottish caddy if he has noticed any obvious reasons for his poor tee shots, to which the caddy replies: “Aye, there’s a piece of sh*t on the end of yer driver. The President picks up his driver and cleans the club face, at which point the caddy says “No, the other end.” God bless the Scots
