I remember being told during those awful days after 9/11 to show those cave dwelling barbarians how little they hurt us. Yeah, they hurt us. They caused a lot of pain in lost and broken lives, in economic slowdown, in the horrific cost of cleaning up debris and burying our dead. We lost a lot of good men and women that day.
We also found our heroes, some known and unknown. We also found that we could come together as a country. There is something about a common enemy that draws a nation together. We have lost that unity, but we haven’t lost our heroes.
I took those words to heart, about not letting the b*st*rds getting us down. Life goes on, and and that’s the best message we can send our enemy – that we’ll go on. Hopefully our next president and Congress will be strong, moral, wise, and resilient. As for my part, today I move on. Despite the idiocy of the supposed award winner (whom I will not give any credence to by mentioning its name) and those who hold similar beliefs, I will move on. Despite the flag burners and noisemakers during the memorials held to respect the horror of 9/11, our country will move on.
We are bigger than our enemies. We are better. Their god did not grant them salvation, he did not redeem them. Their “paradise” is a shallow one, full of sensual pleasures which contradict their god’s edicts for life on earth. I believe they are confused and misdirected in their “faith”. Our country, based on Christian principles and values, honors human life and respects the value of every person. We are better, and our God is bigger and better.
We can move on. We should move on. And we should kick butt whenever and wherever it is necessary while we are doing so.

Well they let us back onto the homestead last night. Everything is fine and just as we left it. We didn’t have to show ID, which surprised me and while I didn’t go to the end of the road it looked like they had moved the roadblock down there. Hopefully everyone else will get back in today.

Did you know about Flash Cookies that aren’t displayed or cleared when you clean your browser caches? Neither did I. Here’s how to get rid of them.
Flash Cookies explained
Flash cookies are a new way of tracing your movement and storing a lot more information about you than with normal cookies. One major disadvantage of flash cookies is that you can’t locate them in your browser. They are not shown in the list of cookies that you can see when you take a look at the cookies that are currently saved in your web browser. Normal HTTP cookies can’t save more than 4 Kilobyte of data while Flash cookies can save up to
100 Kilobyte.I was searching for a way to check them on my computer but could not find it. After reading some information on the Adobe Flash Player website I was able to realize that the only possibility to check them was to open a page on the Adobe site which would show them.

DNC already using weasel words for job bill support. Notice they say “try and rally support”. Any marketing campaign that starts on a negative note is doomed to failure.
WASHINGTON (AP) — The Democratic National Committee is launching an ad campaign in politically key states to try and rally the public behind President Barack Obama’s new jobs plan and pressure a divided Congress to act.

I want to see the bill that the HNP wants the congress to pass so badly. Is it even written yet? As I recall, the last written bill MMM submitted to congress was defeated 97 – 0 in the Senate.
O’Erkle’s speech was nothing but platitudes and electioneering – absolutely NOT a speech meriting a call for a joint session of congress. -

As far as the POS Paulie “the puss” Krugwiss goes, both he and the NYT have crossed the line with his latest written drivel. I would love to see a campaign against any and all who advertise in that rag. They have gone so far beyond the term “journalism” that it is inaccurate to associate that word or any of its forms to the paper or its contributors. The Old Grey Hag needs to die and be put out of our collective misery.

Algor planning 24-hour media blitz to try to convince climate change skeptics that the problem is really, really cereal, y’all.
“24 Hours of Reality” will broadcast a presentation by Al Gore every hour for 24 hours across 24 different time zones from Wednesday to Thursday, with the aim of convincing climate change deniers and driving action against global warming among households, schools and businesses.
The campaign also asks people to hand over control of their social networking accounts on Facebook and Twitter to it for 24 hours to deliver Gore’s message.
That’ll prolly put the entire internet to sleep.

Good morning Hamsters. Hanging onto the last wisp of the cool front this morning, a low of 67 at 6 and fleeting comfort. Regrettably it’s back to a few days of 100, and that blasted high pressure area that refuses to move is at fault. Not much prospect for another front until it moves enough for the front to slip past. We need to figure out how to drop kick that high.
Yea for Texanadian getting back home to find it unharmed. Hope there are no more disruptions.
I was humbled by the visit to the Waller County Fairgarounds yesterday afternoon when I thanked the lady who helped unload our donations, and she said “No, let me thank you.”
God bless everyone there and give them continued strength. Wish I could have found more items to bring. Maybe a second trip is in order. -

excessive pride or self-confidence; arrogance. The same word applies to O’Erkle. The stunning hubris exhibited by both is only matched by their collective ignorance of reality.

This is an interesting and ominous development, h/t Jpost.com.
Frigates will confront Israeli vessels in int’l waters in order to protect ships bringing aid to Gaza if necessary, according to Turkish media reports; Erdogan: Gaza flotilla raid was “grounds for war.”
Talkbacks (17)
Turkey is planning to send three warships to the Eastern Mediterranean to defend against Israeli vessels if necessary and ensure freedom of navigation for Turkish ships, Today’s Zaman reported on Monday. The Turkish ships will provide protection for ships bringing humanitarian aid to the Gaza Strip and confront Israeli warships outside of Israel’s territorial waters if necessary, according to the report.
The comments are really interesting.

I too have been noticing a Cah-terian malaise on The Couch lately. I think it’s a combination of the unrelenting 100+ heat and drought all summer, one natural disater after another, the Arab Spring, the unrelenting bad economic news, and general burnout on the state of the body politic. So few bright spots — a little Mark Steyn here, a little… Well, I can’t remember anything else that has cheered me up here lately.Oh, maybe that offer from someone with pastureland and trailers to help folks with endangered horses. And Adee’s report on her donation trip to the fire zone. So I should get a grip and cheer up. I’ll try.

What’s that about expectations?
Expectations lead to resentment.
And resentment is like taking poison and expecting someone else to die.True words, but they can be hard to live by at times.

I’ve gotta go pick up a plumbing part for tomorrow, and I don’t know when I’ll be logging back on, but I’d like to get some feedback on this. Since I’m a little leery of loading Linux on my machine, but want to try it out, this looks interesting.
Oh, and which version of Linux do you all recommend? I’ve heard a lot noise about Ubuntu, but I really don’t know much about it.

I will watch the CNN-Tea Party sponsored debate tonight at 7. Wondering if the CNN people will be as snarky as the MSNBC/NBC/Politico gaggle last Thursday. If they are, am waiting for Newt to spank them and send them to the corner. 🙂 Would also love to read his dissection of the odious Paul Krugman if there is one forthcoming.

Well, I’m enjoying watching “Wuss Blister” losing control of HIS attempt to “Sand Bag” the Tea Party candidates. He asks questions directed towards the other candidates, and to a Man or Woman they don’t fall for it, they state their position. FWIW; I could vote for any of them XCEPT Huntsman….Well if its him or Obumer, I would…..sigh 🙁

Darren from last night
I had a Tedtam weekend
I happened to go back today and check the ends of the weekend threads, and found Darren’s long note on his complex schedule and new responsibilities in LDS. Darren, TT only had 2 kids, but also a husband, a plumbing company, some rental properties scattered all over South-east Texas, and her church responsibilities to juggle. Seems your life is about to get a lot busier too — hope you still have time to post every now & again.

During the debate, did tRicky Ricky promise to be as tough on border security as Obumma? Did he promise to hand himself a letter on an airplane tarmac, reminding himself that enforcing immigration laws is the job of the federal guvmint?
MSNBC and now CNN–Is the next Repub debate going to be on NPR?
Do the Repubs love being abused by the PrO-pabamagandist media? Is that the reason they keep holding their debates on the Obama streamed media networks moderated by Obumma’s paid propagandists?
Is a donut without a hole just a Danish?
Oh wait, they’re showing it on CNN right now.—What will Wolfie ask?

mharper;
Seems your life is about to get a lot busier too — hope you still have time to post every now & again.
Yes, it it going to get a whole lot busier. My new calling is no small job. In fact my first priority after work will be to check my gmail for ward updates. Just today I saw an email from our new bishop to fill about 20 leadership positions by this Sunday. The bishop will delegate these duties between his two counselors, one of which I aleady know and he’s a workhorse. These leadership callings range from adults to the youth and the bishop is in charge of all of them. And in the LDS world, this is in addition to his career employment and, of course, family obligations and responsibilites. Sacrifice and blessings go hand in hand.
Tedtam, by the way, is very inspirational to me in how she goes about her duties. She’s a very stalwart woman in that regard.
I’ll deifintely post when I can.

Watched the debate tonight, and it went well despite Wolf Blitzed’s attempts to steer things toward the dark side of the force. Newt’s comments were sterling and overpowering in that regard, and I loved his almost angelic expression as he formulated his devastating responses that invariably ended in checkmate. 🙂

Newt’s comments were sterling and overpowering in that regard, and I loved his almost angelic expression as he formulated his devastating responses that invariably ended in checkmate. 🙂
