After failing to interrupt his Camp David weekend to buck up the country on one of its worst days in history, he tacked on his condolences for the soldiersโ families to his economic pep talk, in what had to be the most inept oratorical segue of his presidency.
Rush Limbaugh? Charles Krauthammer? Nope. Maureen Dowd.
Speaking from the State Dining Room of the White House, he advised America it was still โa triple-A countryโ like some cerebral soccer coach urging the kids to win one for the London Interbank Offered Rate.
Make no mistake, the fire-haired Dowd (whom I suspect possesses lady parts with dentata) has not suddenly grew a brain, she’s still a hard-core socialist. And she’s inherently pessimistic all the time. Still, its amazing how quickly the most socialist president in our history has fallen in the eyes of his worshipers.

In my psychology class, we discussed feelings of attraction and how they can be intensified or encouraged by adrenaline. If you remember the movie “Speed,” Keanu Reeves and Sandra Bullock fell for each other while engaged in a rather tense situation, chock-full of adrenaline-pumping moments. If I remember correctly, our psych class discussed a study where couples met on a park bench and others on a rope bridge. There was a higher level of attraction on the bridge than on the bench.
Perhaps Ms. Maureen gets Hammy’s adrenals a-pumpin, with her rhetoric, and that translates to into other emotions?
If so, that certainly doesn’t explain my revulsion when I see Carville. He reminds me of a rabid pit-bull with a spit-while-you-talk bad habit.

Some armed with swords, some carrying hockey sticks, defiant Sikhs stood guard outside their temples last night. More then 700 men, some in their 80s, took to the streets to protect the homes, businesses and places of worship in Southall, West London. The residents rallied together in a show of unity against looters echoed in other parts of the country as ordinary Britons attempted to reclaim the streets.

The feds are considering renting out some of the plethora of homes they now own due to the financial meltdown.
I have some observations:
1) If they do nothing the homes will become crack houses and will destroy any value that is left in the home, and it will degrade the value in the surrounding homes.
2) If they set the rental rate too low, they will screw the value of the surrounding homes, not to mention that they will bring in a lower class of people who may decide to “go shopping” in some of the surrounding homes.
3) The money brought in via rentals will help a little on the budgetary side of our overall financial situation.
4) I can see real parallels with our country now and Egypt just before the Exodus.
5) It is not a good idea for Uncle Sam to be a landlord. When one looks at almost every public housing facility, one sees squalor. When the people do not have real skin in the game, they tend to destroy that which is given them. I believe that if the feds use the houses for Section 8 housing, it will cause degradation in the neighborhoods. It is just not a good thing all around.
6) On a simple supply and demand analysis it appears that there are too many houses in the system overall for our population. -

#67 Tedtam from the article;
Mr. Depping has been on a collision course with regulators since 2009, when FDIC examiners began questioning the bank’s large concentration of small-business loans. Nearly all of Main Street’s $175 million loan portfolio has gone to customers like dentists, owners of fast-food franchises and delivery-truck drivers, who use the loans to purchase equipment. The bank’s average loan size is $100,000 to customers who have less than $1 million in annual revenue, Mr. Depping says.
Mr. Depping says that Main Street’s focus on small-business lending has sheltered the bank from much of the devastation that has swept the industry, including 385 bank failures since the start of 2008.
Main Street had profits of $1 million in the second quarter and wrote off 1.25% of its loans as uncollectible. That is below the industry’s charge-off rate of 1.82% in the FDIC’s data for the first quarter, the latest available. The bank has earned nearly $11 million in the past year.
In July 2010, the FDIC slapped Main Street with a 25-page order to boost its capital, strengthen its controls and bring in a new top executive. Regulators also said the bank was putting too many eggs in one basket. Mr. Depping says regulators wanted the bank to shrink its small-business lending to about 25% of the total loan portfolio, down from about 90%.
So since the bank was doing business on a small scale helping small business they want ot screw it up! How’d that old sayin’ go? “we’re from the Gub’ment and we’re here to help you.”

#67 TT: I find it rather “interesting” that the feds want to climb up the back sides of profitable, well-run banks, yet they steadfastly refuse to investigate the underlying causes of the Fannie and Freddie meltdown. They need to start with The Banking Queen and all of his “love interests”, then move to Maxine Watters, Jaimie Gorelich, and Franklin Raines. If the above mentioned people engaged in any of their currently known behaviors, while in private industry, they would be thrown under the jail.

Since when does the Federal Govt have the authority to tell a private company to hire/fire executives?? The proper response to that order would be “GO POUND SAND YOU POS“, strong letter to follow.

The
Lost WagesLas Vegas Hilton is in default. The last line of the story is interesting:Colony Resorts LVH also reported that it chose not to make monthly interest payments totaling $3.5 million for June, July and August on its $252 million term loan “in order to conserve liquidity for operating and other needs.” The loan makes up the bulk of the company’s $296 million in debt and liabilities.
While the lender is now entitled to exercise various remedies due to the default, Colony Resorts LVH said itโs “currently in discussions with its lender to negotiate a restructuring of its debt, the outcome of which is uncertain.”
The term loan lender is Goldman Sachs Commercial Mortgage Capital L.P.
A Goldman Sachs affiliate is an investor in Colony Resorts LVH and this is not the first time the term loan has been in default, with the last default resolved in July 2010.
This means the current default may again be resolved on friendly terms.
Or wissin not. It looks like Goldman Sachs is losing its midas touch and is turning it into the Lopez Portillo touch. El Senor Portillo got the nobel prize in chemistry for turning the Mexican peso into feces.

Sorry I was away from my computer for the day. I hope I get this in so that all can enjoy my “Top Ten” list of captions:
1) This is the expression I had when my teleprompter went blank.
2) There’s nothing funny about the lousy economy that I brought upon you.
3) Ooh, a “Tea Partier”!!! Get those cooties away from me.
4) I am casting my “Vote for me in 2012” spell on you.
5) This was one of my sexting posts that I learned from Weiner.
6) Why are you laughing at the leader of the free world?
7) I want to scare the thought out of you that you think that my presidency is funny.
8) (Per Rush) This is my imitation of “Debt Man Walking”.
9) If you think this is scary, wait until I put on my “Robin Hood” outfit.
10) Let me cast one of my “change” spells on you.

Well, I just talked to the wife and they’re in Lafayette?! WTF, they should be here by a little after midnight, seems that they stopped off @ Alvin’s Island on the way out so that they could stimulate the local economy of the PC Beach area just one more time! ๐

Hey this is neat; US military to launch fastest-ever planeUnmanned Falcon Hypersonic Technology Vehicle 2 can travel from London to Sydney in less than an hour
Thursday’s flight will also test the carbon composite materials designed to withstand the extreme temperatures the plane will experience on its skin and also the navigation systems that will control its trajectory as it moves at almost four miles per second.
We’ve been testing the Carbon Composite panels for over 10 years now. We’re testing one of them in our Acoustic Chamber on Friday, the last one was on Tuesday.

I’m not sure, but he was just like GTO, GJT and wagonburner,… that is, he often said things to jab the others but it was always in fun, he just made the blog a little bit funner, cranked back the HARD LINE politics a little, and it was a good thing. ๐

Does anyone else here see the situation the same way or similar as I do?
Well, I read it early this morning & didn’t remember it, so reread it now.
Keep a very sharp eye on the baggy pants crowd as I predict that they will become extremely violent/murderous in the not too distant future.
Maybe Mayor Nutter’s message will resonate with enough parents and principals to start seeing some improvement? If not, we have let the gubmint build up a huge dependent underclass that now thinks they are entitled to have the same stuff that those who study hard & work hard all their lives are able to achieve.
