Okay, I see that again I am left to open the door. Don’t have time to put together a proper column (perhaps this can be rectified later).
I missed the speeches last night. Had something more important to do.
I checked the couch, and it’s kitty barf free. Come on in and make yourselves at home. I hafta put the ol’ nose to the grindstone.

Washington may have become, as President Obama said on Monday, a place where “compromise has become a dirty word,” but in the context of the menacing debt-limit crisis there was a far dirtier word he didn’t utter.
Veto.
While Obama warned House Speaker John Boehner not to turn Americans into “collateral damage,” he did not vow to veto the bill Boehner’s now pushing to lift the debt ceiling by $1 trillion (good for six months). Boehner’s two-step process would impose $1.2 trillion in spending cuts and establish a select congressional commission to propose an additional $1.8 trillion in savings by Thanksgiving.
We shall see what happens.

Obama Keeps Mum On A Word Dirtier Than ‘Compromise’ -
How about a real dirty word, “dither” which is what the “O” has been doing this whole time to create the crisis in which we find ourselves. He is attempting to play hardball politics and dithering while the US Economy and real Americans are being held hostage to his grand utopian scheme. His problem is that the fresh crop of Rs know why they were elected this time and they know why they were fired last time. The Rs have trusted the Ds too many times and gotten burned for it, and the Rs know that the people won’t stand for them to do it again.
My Mach side tells me he may veto the thing anyway because he got shut out (the truth is he shut himself out by his behavior) of the final deal. I don’t think “O” cares a whit about what the people want, only what his puppet master wants. -

A funny from my email this morning:
A husband and wife are sitting quietly in bed reading when the wife looks over at him and asks the question – ??WIFE: “What would you do if I died? Would you get married Again?”
HUSBAND: “Definitely not!”
WIFE: “Why not? Don’t you like being married?”
HUSBAND: “Of course I do..”
WIFE: “Then why wouldn’t you remarry? ”
HUSBAND: “Okay, okay, I’d get married again.”
WIFE: “You would?” (with a hurt look)
HUSBAND: (makes audible groan)
WIFE: “Would you live in our house?”
HUSBAND: “Sure, it’s a great house..”
WIFE: “Would you sleep with her in our bed?”
HUSBAND: “Where else would we sleep?”
WIFE: “Would you let her drive my car?”
HUSBAND: “Probably, it is almost new…”
WIFE: “Would you replace my pictures with hers?”
HUSBAND: “That would seem like the proper thing to do.”
WIFE: “Would you give her my jewelry?”
HUSBAND: “No, I’m sure she’d want her own.”
WIFE: “Would you take her golfing with you? ”
HUSBAND: “Yes, those are always good times.”
WIFE: “Would she use my clubs? ”
HUSBAND: “No, she’s left-handed.”
WIFE: — silence —

Money quote from the lead story at Drudge (emphasis mine):
To be sure, 30 months after he returned to home cooking, George W. Bush still gets majority blame for the economy.
But here’s the breaking news for wishful Democrats: George W. Bush isn’t running for anything but exercise.

This is worthy of a front page post.
Ayalon asserts that Judea and Samaria were taken from the occupying Jordanians during a defensive war, hence the “settlements” are legal. In an Israel National News report from mid-July, Ayalon explained his vision for the video:
“The idea behind the creation of the video is distributed in an innovative way and explains the Israeli position in fighting unilateral recognition of a Palestinian state,” Ayalon said.
“Israel’s argument based on facts get lost in the headlines and pictures. The challenge is to adjust the message to the medium and nature of the online world,” he added.
A most brilliant move by Israel and apparently it’s been very effective.
The viral video that was originally released in Hebrew, then translated into English, has reportedly received 100,000 views worldwide, including in Arab countries and has even been featured on Al Jazeera.
(snip)
Ayalon reportedly believes the Palestinians feel threatened now that their narrative has been challenged for the first time in “too long.” Reacting to the Palestinians’ upset over the video, Ayalon said:
“For too long the Palestinian narrative of international law and rights has gone unchallenged and this over the top reaction to a public diplomacy video proves that they are acting like spoiled children who have had their way for too long,” Ayalon said. “They are unable to challenge a single fact in the video and have completely avoided a legitimate and honest discussion on the issues.”
And the video itself is short, simple, and very educational. Of course, I had to think of our own president when I heard “’67 borders” in the video and which terminology is NOT historically correct.

I have really been under the weather since Saturday afternoon. I have a mildly compressed disc in my lower back. I went to adjust the recliner when it felt like I ripped my backbone out. The earliest Dr. appointment is today at 3:00. Been living on pain pills just to exist. I hope the disc hasn’t “exploded” or some such, but it probably has.

Just found out brother-in-law is terminal. He’s known it for some time, just didn’t want to admit to my sister. She said he finally said it out loud just yesterday.

Sadly I can hear the naysayers now………………………..all the “international entities” giving approval are “infidels” and as such their approval has “no standing”. I’d be truly amazed if any agreement even resembling ‘peace’ is achieved in my lifetime…………..

Good morning Hamsters. Another 76 at 6 with a breeze developing after Sunrise playing around high clouds empty of promise. Yesterday afternoon rain looked to be so close, as it had the day before when we could smell it, but no. 🙁 The cracks in the ditch edge next to the road are working on 2″ wide. Our sprinklers don’t reach that far.
A little wren briefly perched on the back of the bench next to the garden room window, peeked in, then went off. It carried a piece of baked snack chips I’d thrown out in the yard yesterday afternoon, almost half a bag’s worth. For the unfeathered bipeds here the flavor was sadly lacking–on the downside of blah–unless smothered in salsa, though spouse bravely sampled them without. Couldn’t really justify that sacrifice when flavorful chips are in stock, so I crushed the bag sufficient to break them into bird-bite-size pieces and cast them in the back yard. Perhaps creatures other than the wren have found them edible.
The search for body parts of the murdered lady from North Carolina continues today a few miles north of us. Skinner Lane is a primary short cut though small roadway connecting FM 359 to Grand Parkway and Westpark/Fort Bend Tollway. It has numerous blind curves and is rated at 35 mph or less in some spots, though locals frequently go faster. This is not safe given the numerous official vehicles parked on the narrow roadside and the personnel randomly crossing the road at the blind spots.
Traveled down Skinner Lane going and coming yesterday, and all 4 network TV trucks were there, Fort Bend County Sheriff’s deputies, Houston PD bloodhound handler, Richmond Fire Dept. boat and searchers, one Pecan Grove Volunteer Fire Dept. engine, numerous unmarked vehicles. People at the roadside were looking at Jones Creek, which is across the road and contains gates that regulate Oyster Creek’s level, though the media don’t know that apparently. The searching is exhausting and hot; the water is muddy and low from lack of rain. Report is that ~60% of the body has been found thus far. It is gruesome work. A few neighbors were watching from a distance. A very sad scene indeed.

And yeah, the slide video is pretty….disturbing.

The Gun Walker scandal just keeps getting worse. Now it appears that the Justice Department and ATF are trying to intimidate the witnesses into not testifying before congress. This cover-up is going to cause jail time for someone; otherwise the feds need to send a big apology to G. Gordon Liddy.

The good news is that even though you missed the original link on last week, it still found you and by extension, it found lots of others as well. Perhaps more people are looking at that video and comparing to the blaring false narrative from the palestenians and echoed by the LSM and are starting to question why the huge disparity. The times, they are a changin. Who in their right mind would ever think that black support for O would drop below 90%, and it is now under 80%, and lots of lefty moon-bats are turning on O as well. Bernie Sanders Commie-V, is suggesting that O get primaried and that has not happened to an elected POTUS in my lifetime. -

Allow me to blow my horn just a bit.
Last year, one of the buildings we did was featured on the 25th Anniversary issue of Metal Construction news.
This year, one of our larger projects, the Youngker High School Performing Arts Center has received an Honorable Mention in Metal Architecture’s 2011 Design competition.
The biggest point of pride for me personally on this project is that all of my work on it was on the exterior and interior metal walls and roofs. I only wish there were pics of the inside of this thing as it was a bear to do and should be quite pleasing to the eye. You only get to see a little bit of that in the pic on the Orcutt/Winslow site. That, and the special drainage fixtures we had to design to remove the water from that roof, and still get a 20 year warranty.
Gotta get me a new shirt, this one is a little tight in the chest right now.

#32 Sarge: the roof line on the ” front porch” area looks as if it channels the water to the middle; does the water drain down a pipe through the interior of the building?
-
It channels to the middle for a while, then into the side of the higher building for the remainder of its length. There are a number of 6″ diameter drops along its length that do drain into an interior drainage system that runs behind some of the walls. The biggest problem there was draining that area in the front that has no downspouts in it. That required the gutter to be extra wide and slop to the inside of the building.
A bigger drainage problem that doesn’t jump right out in that pic was where that roof drains into the highest building in the back of the building. There’s a 4 foot square welded aluminum fixture that channels water along that wall and around the corner so it can drain into the valley that you see on the front of the building. The length of the wall made it almost like making the water go uphill.

She is prolly on a homeowners association and loves to send out those letters telling you you have a weed growing in the crack of your driveway. I will refrain from wisecracks about cracks lest I incur the wrath of the angry blog monkey.

#41 ST: That woman is an absolute droooooooling moron, or as Limbaugh would phrase it: ‘A glittering jewel of colossal ignorance’. The schadenfrued hits just keep coming. It refers to “old news” but, as with Jane Fonda, this stuff means something to guys who served in the military when I did.
Back in the “Swift Boat” days of the 2004 Kerry/Bush race, one of Kerry’s staunchest defenders was a guy named Wade Sanders. Back then he had a column at Military.com. All his work seems to have disappeared from there (you’ll find out why in a minnit), but excerpts of one of them can be found here
When faced with the continuing attacks on Senator John Kerry’s honorable military service, those of us who have taken the time and extended the effort to educate ourselves as to all the evidence concerning that service, including the official Navy record, have often felt as though we were, like Alice in Wonderland, living in a world of half-truths and flights of fancy. It has become crystal clear that those fixated on the destruction of John Kerry at all cost continue to live in parallel universe: a universe where up is down and down is up and everything is nonsense.
Sanders served as Deputy Assistant Secretary of the Navy in the Clinton Administration. During this time, he was awarded the nation’s third highest award for Valor, the Silver Star, for actions during his service in Viet Nam where he served as a Swift Boat Commander. This award, his service as a Swift Boat Commander, and his service in the Clinton Administration gave Sanders enough cachet that he was chose to introduce Kerry at the 2004 Democrat Convention. He vouched for Kerry and wrote many articles critical of Swift Boat Veterans for Truth. The Democrats were proud to have him introduce thier candidate.
There are several sources for what I’m about to report now, but I think it best to link to one of the Swift Boat Veterans and POWs for Truth forum topics at Swiftboatvets.com.
San Diego- In a highly unusual move, the Navy secretary has stripped a Silver Star awarded to a retired captain and Vietnam swift boat veteran who is serving a federal prison sentence after admitting to child pornography.
Navy Secretary Ray Mabus revoked the Silver Star, the nation’s third-highest valor award, which was awarded nearly 20 years ago to retired Capt. Wade Sanders of San Diego.
A spokeswoman for Mabus confirmed the secretary’s decision, which he made in August 2010 following a review and recommendation by the Navy Department Board of Medals and Decorations. “Mabus signed a memorandum in which he revoked the previously awarded Silver Star,” said Capt. Pamela Kunze.
“Had the subsequently determined facts and evidence surrounding both the incident for which the award was made and the processing of the award itself been known to the Secretary of the Navy in 1992, those facts would have prevented the award of the Silver Star,” Kunze said.
Sanders, a former deputy assistant Navy secretary rose to prominence seven years ago as a swift boat veteran who supported the 2004 presidential candidacy of Sen. John Kerry, D.Mass.
One of the Swifties sums it up best in the last comment (so far) on that thread:
In doing further research and talking with others involved. The Silver Star was rescinded last August and just now is being reported in the Navy Times which is dated 7/18/2011 but the print copy was delivered on the 12th. Statements which Wade stated were proven false and he could give not one witnesses to back his statements, nor remember any one involved. Seems like a lot of Democrats like to claim being war heroes and ask for Medals they do not deserve.

I will always think that the little bit of $ I donated to the Swiftboatvets organization, dedicated to defeat John Kerry’s bid for President of the US, was one of the best investments I ever made. -

I guess that Ocare is gonna fix CFs like this.
TAMPA, Florida (AP) – Tampa General Hospital has filed a $9.2 million claim against the estate of a woman who died after spending five years in the hospital, according to Hillsborough County court documents.
In court documents, that’s how much the hospital says it is owed for the care of Tameka Jaqway Campbell. She died at age 29 two years ago of progressive demyelinating neuropathy, which occurs when the immune cells attack the body’s nerves.
I’m gonna go for gross mismanagement for $500 there Alex. answer: What is Tampa General Hospital?

Meh.
In the scheme of things, with the spectre of Barry Potter and the Debtly Hallows looming over us, its a small thing. It did make the print version of the Navy Times and Swiftboatvets.com, along with AoSHQ (where I got it from), so it reached all the people to whoim it would give satisfaction and schadenfrued.
I’m satisfied.

I am going to assume that this “ACM” is not your HOA, but a management company that your HOA has hired out the deed restriction work to. I will readily agree that some of those mgmt companies are pretty much over the top, but it is easier to have a mgmt co to hate than one of your neighbors who serves as a volunteer on the HOA board, doncha know. -

About 10 years before I stepped in to fill an opening on my HOA board, the subdivision used an obnoxious property management co for the deed restriction drive-throughs. An elderly neighbor told me he had gone out to the curb to fetch in the morning paper, when he noticed some jerk had tossed an old auto tire into the street and it had rolled up against his curb. He picked it up, carried it to his porch and left it leaning against a pillar at the front of the house — intending to dispose of it after breakfast, which he did. A week later, he got a DR violation letter from the mgmt co, instructing him to remove the junk on his porch from public view. By then, he had a devil of a time even remembering the original event, which had just happened to coincide with a drive-through. But he always laughed about it when he told this tory.
