At the risk of incurring everyone’s wrath again so soon after the Candyman this past weekend, I ran across this coming in from an email service I follow periodically. Seems there’s a new magazine being published for the people out in the swamps south of Breaux Bridge somewhere.
Their opening issue features nekkid alligators, apparently. Plus a really, really ugly baby.
Sorta makes you think those coonasses need to venture outta the swamp every now and again.

Speaking of nekkid gators, while I was taking a shower this morning a huge tree roach decided to come up through the drain and join me. You’d be surprised how quickly those things can crawl up your leg. You’d also be surprised how quickly a nekkid gator can move. I think its true they can outrun a horse in short distances.

#9 CouchMaster, from your linkie:
For many reasons, this is the moment when loyalty is going to count the most. That’s a hard sentence to write. Liberal politics is based on a non-regimented, all-inclusive approach to democracy. Freedom of thought is paramount. But certain harsh realities must be faced. For thirty years and more, the progressive tradition has been severely undermined, dating back to Nixon’s “Southern strategy” (coddle the racists) and Ronald Reagan’s smiling reactionary agenda (AIDS victims deserve what they get), through the first President Bush’s Willie Horton strategy (another boost for racism) and the second President Bush’s deceptive “compassionate conservatism.”
It was such a relief to return to humane, non-ideological governance when President Obama won in 2008 that we underestimated the debasing effect that two generations of right-wing indoctrination has had. Each increment of this debasement seemed fairly tolerable, even bizarrely quixotic. A pledge never to raise taxes until the end of time? Blatant favoritism toward Christian groups, however intolerant their dogmas? Stuffing the foreign service with neo-cons, the Justice Department with graduates of Jerry Falwell’s law school? These aberrations go unnoticed outside Washington, perhaps, but bit-by-bit the damage has been corrosive.I could not get past this point in the article; the absurdity of the assertions was so revolting I had to stop polluting my brain. Deepak Chopra is a “kool-aid drinking” moron.

#9 Dude. Just… dude.
One of the virtues of being on the liberal side of politics is that total obedience isn’t required. There are no hidden agendas. Ideology doesn’t lead to unreason.
I hadn’t even made it through the first paragraph before almost spraying coffee out of my nose. OK, going back in for more.

Got me to laughing so hard I had to wipe my eyes to continue reading.
BTW, OBH finally has come up with a plan on raising revenue without raising taxes.

ATF Director: DOJ Response to Fast and Furious Investigation Intended to Protect Political Appointee.
Chairman Issa and Senator Grassley Press Attorney General Holder with Key Testimony
WASHINGTON, D.C. – Oversight and Government Reform Committee Chairman Darrell Issa and Senate Judiciary Committee Ranking Member Chuck Grassley today pressed Attorney General Eric Holder about the Justice Department’s unsatisfactory responses and lack of cooperation with an investigation into the highly controversial Operation Fast and Furious. A letter sent by the two lead investigators highlighted testimony indicating internal disputes within the Justice Department and a statement from the Director of the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms, and Explosives (ATF) that the Justice Department is attempting to protect its political appointees.
“It was very frustrating to all of us, and it appears thoroughly to us that the Department is really trying to figure out a way to push the information away from their political appointees at the Department,” ATF Acting Director Kenneth Melson said of his frustration with the Justice
Department’s response to the investigation in a transcribed interview. Here is a PDF of Issa’s letter to Eric Holder on 7/18/2011
This is the latest on “Gunwalker”. Long letter to Holder, but well worth the read. Issa outlines his interview with ATF Director Melson on 7/4/2011 and raises holy Heck with Holder about his actions. The more Holder tries to stonewall, the deeper the hole is he is digging.

#11 Dooooooooooooooooooooood: I, like you, could only read so much at one time of Chopra’s abject stooooooooooopidity. The closing paragraph contains this glittering jewel of colossal hypocrisy:
The headline read, “He Could Still Lose.” We need to remember that if that were to happen, it wouldn’t be because President Obama made too many mistakes or failed to pass a sufficiently liberal agenda. The reason would be that all of us forgot the thirty-year reign of reactionary administrations (minus the Clinton years) and the power of debased politics to keep coming back, again and again.
That he could actually type that bolded section and not laugh his head off tell me that he is nothing but a left wing hyper-partisan ideologue and his counsel merits no consideration.

Deer season looking bad (As well as wildlife in general):
The extreme heat and persistent drought seen in much of Texas is taking its toll on wildlife, with deer, birds and other animals abandoning or unable to feed their young.
Pregnant does are having problems carrying fawns to term, and most of them born prematurely aren’t surviving, according to the Texas AgriLife Extension Service. Other does are abandoning their newborns because drought-induced malnutrition has robbed them of their ability to produce milk.
A personal followup, my brother just got back from the deer lease. It’s so hot that the feeders aren’t working properly.

further to the above story:
To staff, Bachmann has implausibly blamed the headaches on uncomfortable high-heel shoes, but those who have worked closely with her cite stress, a busy schedule and anything going badly for Bachmann as causes.
NOTE TO ALL YOU WIMMINS: High heels throw the alignment of your ENTIRE WISSIN SKELETAL SYSTEM out of whack. Symptoms can include one or more of the following: ankle, knee, hip, low back pain; neck and shoulder pain and screaming headaches are not just possible but more common than what you have been led to believe. On this subject, I speak as an “authority” as I have treated many wimmins for similar complaints and the root cause can frequently be traced to shoes.

I went back and reread the story about Michelle Bachman’s reported incapacitating headaches. This sentence didn’t strike me first time through:
They also worry that the issue could blow up in the general election campaign, giving President Obama an easy path to re-election.
Now I’m thinking, let’s get this out in the open ASAP and see if it’s true or not. If it is, she needs to stop campaigning and get behind someone who could actually win and serve.

I think it’s funny that we hadn’t heard about Bachmann’s medical issues until now. If this has been so chronic and so prolonged, you’d’a thunk her opponents would have used it against her as a leader in the Tea Party movement.
Something smells fishy….although I agree, it wouldn’t do to have a President who gets severe stress migraines. But it still smells fishy. Not saying it isn’t true…it just smells fishy.

O’Brien = Thre month pregnant woman
Mathews = Career criminal including robberyO’Brien chased Matthews, who has an extensive criminal history – including assault, reckless endangerment and robbery charges, according to court documents – and fought him.
When O’Brien tried wrenching her bag from Matthews’ grip, he twisted her right arm and broke her wrist.
O’Brien countered by kicking Matthews in his leg.
A visibly pregnant O’Brien told CBS that Matthews used his forearm to hit her in the abdomen.
That’s when she planted a kick that broke Matthews’ tibia in two places and sent him limping away, defeated.
O’Brien, whom police said is from Ridley Park, got her bag and was treated for her broken wrist at the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania.
Police found Matthews lying on the ground on the corner of 62nd and Market, and arrested him after O’Brien identified him.
Matthews was admitted to Hahnemann University Hospital. Police said the man is still in the hospital and will undergo two leg surgeries.
Chalk another one up for the good guys.

She broke his tibia in two places?? With one kick?? The tibia is the thick shin bone on the front of your leg, it is one of the most “robust” bones in your body and she broke it in 2 places with one kick?? I would be much more than willing to bet that she has some “training” in her background. If I am not mistaken, it takes more to break a tibia than a 2×4.

The fact that we are here today to debate raising America’s debt limit is a sign of leadership failure. It is a sign that the U.S. Government can’t pay its own bills. It is a sign that we now depend on ongoing financial assistance from foreign countries to finance our Government’s reckless fiscal policies.
Over the past 5 years, our federal debt has increased by $3.5 trillion to $8.6 trillion. That is “trillion” with a “T.” That is money that we have borrowed from the Social Security trust fund, borrowed from China and Japan, borrowed from American taxpayers. And over the next 5 years, between now and 2011, the President’s budget will increase the debt by almost another $3.5 trillion.
Numbers that large are sometimes hard to understand. Some people may wonder why they matter. Here is why: This year, the Federal Government will spend $220 billion on interest. That is more money to pay interest on our national debt than we’ll spend on Medicaid and the State Children’s Health Insurance Program. That is more money to pay interest on our debt this year than we will spend on education, homeland security, transportation, and veterans benefits combined. It is more money in one year than we are likely to spend to rebuild the devastated gulf coast in a way that honors the best of America.
And the cost of our debt is one of the fastest growing expenses in the Federal budget. This rising debt is a hidden domestic enemy, robbing our cities and States of critical investments in infrastructure like bridges, ports, and levees; robbing our families and our children of critical investments in education and health care reform; robbing our seniors of the retirement and health security they have counted on.
Every dollar we pay in interest is a dollar that is not going to investment in America’s priorities.
Who said this? Eric Cantor? Jim DeMint? Paul Ryan? Nope, it was our Half Nubian Prince when he was but a lowly freshman senator.

Every dollar we pay in interest is a dollar that is not going to investment in America’s priorities.Who said this? Eric Cantor? Jim DeMint? Paul Ryan? Nope, it was our Half Nubian Prince when he was but a lowly freshman senator.

#43 TT: I think there is a whole lot more there there to this story. IF it is true, she needs to get out now because we can not have a POTUS who will crumble/become incapacitated under high stress. IF it is true, she needs to throw her considerable political weight behind a real strong conservative like Herman Cain.

Tedtam;
I just saw this:
ST. PAUL, Minn. (AP) — An aide to Republican Michele Bachmann says the Minnesota Republican can withstand the rigors of a campaign and the stress of serving as president.
Spokeswoman Alice Stewart rejected a report Tuesday that severe migraine headaches have limited Bachmann’s ability to campaign in the past. She says the implication that Bachmann’s health would keep her from carrying out the job of president is “just not true.”
Bachman’s spokeswoman did not deny te headaches, just that Bachman will not be debilitated during a rigorous campaign.
That’s good because she’ll need to be engaged to keep ahead.

She broke his tibia in two places?? With one kick?? The tibia is the thick shin bone on the front of your leg, it is one of the most “robust” bones in your body and she broke it in 2 places with one kick?? I would be much more than willing to bet that she has some “training” in her background.
Either that of she was wearing high heels. 😉
You’re correct about more pressure needed to break the tibis than wood. Bones are much more flexible than wood. One thing Muay Thai boxers and MMA fighters in general do is workout to increase their bone density. This makes their strikes that much more brutal and increases their own body’s ability to absorb strikes form an opponent.

I am not a fan of MB, but it is amazing how many of her supposed ardent supporters are willing to jump ship over this.
Abraham Lincoln suffered from the same headaches and chronic depression, yet he managed to hold it together to lead the Union to victory. Of course it did not hurt that he eventually found himself a couple of whisky drinking fighting Generals to lead his armies.
That which does not diminish us will strengthen us.

Also, it is quite possible that Mathews, O’Brien’s would be thief, had bone problems to begin with. But, yeah, O’Brien could have had training. Explains how she went after Mathews to get her stuff back. Also explains how she kept on fighting after Mathews broke her wrist.

The facts of her case don’t really matter. If the story of repeated hospitalizations is true; If her handlers were not prepared for such a revelation; if the story lingers beyond this Sunday, she is through.U.S. Grant was the last “routinely incapacitated” person we elected to the presidency.

While I think we need to cut much, much further, this is an interesting comparison.
Recall these 2009 quotes from President Obama:
“It’s a little hard for me to take criticism from folks about this recovery package after they’ve presided over a doubling of the national debt. I’m not sure they have a lot of credibility when it comes to fiscal responsibility.
“What I won’t do is return to the failed theories of the last eight years that got us into this fix in the first place, because those theories have been tested and they have failed.”
Obama is a funny guy. He amuses me. Like a clown.

In the comments section, there are mental midgets comparing the tax rates of the 50s to today and how the higher marginal tax rates were good for the economy. 63 Shannon,
General Grant was routinely reported to be visibly drunk on the battlefield by the Union Press. President Lincoln when questioned about Grant’s drinking answered in a way that shut up all the critics. Ole Abe asked the reporters to find out what brand of whiskey did his most successful General drink? The President told the press he wanted to send a case of the same whiskey to his less aggressive Generals. (He has quite a few!!)
And yes Shannod…I do not have a single link to provide you. I was basing my statement upon the postings that I was reading here and making the assumption that it would be fairly representative of other conservative blogs.
Again…I am not a fan or supporter of MB, but I do not view this headache issue as prohibiting her from serving as President. HA !!

“Like minded minions”?
Are you a left wing democratic plant? You must be.
My parents were old fashioned New-Deal Yellow Dog Democrats. Would you have them rounded up, marched to the nearest port, and shipped off to some foreign hell hole because their beliefs did not line up with yours?
My Dad was good and decent man. If you walked into his shop and asked for his help; it would be given without question or asking for compensation. His beliefs were always strongly Democratic and he and I had our differences, but he always believed in this country.
I think you should pick up a few books about some great Republicans (Lincoln and Reagan). Invective and insult is a luxury that great leaders cannot afford.

Just so we’re all clear – I will not tolerate any discussion, however framed, that involves calling, wishing, praying, or hoping for the death of any person in this country (unless, having been convicted by a jury of their peers, they are on death row). You are certainly free to do that in the privacy of your own home but it will not stand here. If you haven’t guessed, this is a violation of etiquette I consider very grave. I trust that I will never have to bring up this subject again.

#87 Simple: If your dad was presented with the idea that to give $1 to a welfare recipient it would mean taking $8 (I think this is the latest number) from a private citizen, would he be in favor of it or against it? If your dad were presented with the idea that spending $1.40 for every $1.00 you take in and that paying the interest only for all the previous debt incursions now accounts for something like $.18 for every dollar taken in, do you think he would be in favor of drastically cutting spending or continuing on in the same fashion?
To put it “simply” I am not advocating marching everyone who does not agree with me off into oblivion. That would be a gross exaggeration of my position. The overwhelming majority of people in this country would not fall into that category. -

I caught part of Mark Steyn hosting for Limbaugh on 740 today. He’s my favorite substitute host. Steyn’s prediction: the US will eventually break up into several separate countries much as the USSR and Yugoslavia have done. When there is no longer enough common purpose, no reason to remain united.
What do y’all think? Seems to me this could save enough of the conservative heart of the country that we could solve our problems, starting with: close the borders — including the new ones with hostile liberal states.

#94 M42: I could see Texas, New Mexico ( or most of it) Louisiana, Arkansas, Kansas, Missouri, Nebraska, Montanna, The Dakotas, Colorado and Utah joining the Conservative States of Central North America. My suspicion is that it is gonna be like 1861 all over again, and the primary issue is gonna be states rights, just like in 1861.
The federal govt has defaulted on its contract with The Republic of Texas in its refusal to defend the southern border. The federal govt is serially violating the letter of the Constitution and corrupt judges are going along with the violations. For example:
1) there is no provision in the C where the federal govt has any input into education, yet they have their nose in it to an extreme degree.
2) there is no provision in the C where the fed govt has the authority to take my money by threat of force and give it to another citizen because that citizen chooses not to work
3) 10th amendment: The Tenth Amendment states the Constitution’s principle of federalism by providing that powers not granted to the federal government nor prohibited to the states by the Constitution are reserved, respectively, to the states or the people.
The corrupt judges twisted the commerce clause in the preamble to mean what ever they wish so that we no longer have the law of the C, we are reduced to law of the whim of the judge at the time. -

They seem to make their points quite well. My point is that it is out of respect for others that these men do not find it necessary to use that type of language. Tedtam;
Here’s some support for your instincts:
What are the examples of Bachmann being “incapacitated” by her migraines? Strong only offers one — a missed campaign appearance for then-Rep. Roy Blunt in his ultimately successful Senate campaign. She was treated at a hospital and went home the same day. The only other incidents cited by Strong’s report came two months earlier, an episode that caused her to miss … er … no appearances, although she did visit an urgent-care center, and another event in October of last year, in which she laid down for a while and went to urgent care for treatment later.
The “heavy use of pills” would be familiar to anyone who deals with migraines, but Strong’s description sounds more like someone who actively manages their medical condition rather than being the second coming of Neely O’Hara from Valley of the Dolls:
Of particular concern to some around her is the significant amount of medication Bachmann takes to address her condition.
The former aide says Bachmann’s congressional staff is “constantly” in contact with her doctors to tweak the types and amounts of medicine she is taking. Marcus Bachmann helps her manage the episodes.
Her husband helps his wife manage her medical issues — and that’s a surprise? Migraines require the kind of review described in this passage, because the conditions shift and medications don’t always provide consistent relief. Shouldn’t someone who has migraines be in contact with her physicians to ensure that medication works as it should and that the condition doesn’t incapacitate the sufferer? And wouldn’t it be more strange if Marcus didn’t take a supporting role in that effort?
Bachmann doesn’t have a reputation for being a political wallflower. She has tirelessly traveled to Tea Party events, appears constantly on talking-head political news shows, and is perhaps the most prodigious fundraiser in the House. Bachmann didn’t do all of that by being incapacitated. I’ve known Bachmann for several years, and I’m only aware of her missing one event (the Blunt appearance) in all of that time. If her migraines were anywhere near as incapacitating as Strong’s piece suggests, we would have known about it a year ago or more.
Looks like you were on to something, TT.

He gave no prediction of a United States demise.
After giving a “liitany of the absurd” concerning the size of our current federal government he contended that a de-centralized Federalist system – as designed by the Framers – is the only system that will work forma country this size.
Otherwise our future is that of the old Soviet Union or Yugoslavia. -

Otherwise our future is that of the old Soviet Union or Yugoslavia. -

OK, that makes more sense. I read his stuff pretty regularly on NR and your explanation is more in keeping with things of his I’ve read. The other sounded more Alex Jones-ish.

I agree with the second opinion on Mark Steyn. He made it very clear that a large country with a centralized type of government (China, USSR, etc) always fell apart at some point. Our large country has been the exception to the rule, he said, because we were a loose federation of smaller governments. Our government was set up as a union of state governments, not a bunch of states under one umbrella government. This would allow the states to compete and to run their states as best served their constituents, rather than be controlled by a large central government far removed from the people it was supposed to serve.
He made a lot of sense.

Ok, in future I will not comment on fragments of talk shows! I only heard a few minutes, and it was a startling idea to hear someone say the US could break up like the USSR had.Still, considering that the 10th Amendment is all but dead, what next for us? Especially if we are unable to dump Obama and reclaim at least the Presidency, if not the Senate.

This must be the topic Hewitt was talking about a minute ago. I came in on it after it began. It also serves to further validate tedtam’s instincts.
Like nearly 30 million other Americans, I experience migraines that are easily controlled with medication. I am a wife, a mother, a lawyer who worked her way through law school, a former state senator who achieved the repeal of a harmful piece of education policy in Minnesota, and a congresswoman who has worked tirelessly fighting against the expansion of government and wasteful spending.
“Since entering the campaign, I have maintained a full schedule between my duties as a congresswoman and as a presidential candidate traveling across the nation to meet with voters in the key, early primary and caucus states of Iowa, New Hampshire and South Carolina. I have prescription medication that I take whenever symptoms arise and they keep the migraines under control. Let me be abundantly clear – my ability to function effectively has never been impeded by migraines and will not affect my ability to serve as Commander in Chief.
“The many questions I have received on this subject have allowed me to discuss this important condition that impacts individuals in nearly one in four households. However, as a presidential candidate and office holder, I am focused on performing my job, which has never been more important given the state of our economy and the millions of Americans that are out of work. While I appreciate the concern for me and my health, the greater concern should be the debate that is occurring in Washington over whether or not we will increase our debt, spending and taxes.
Goooooooo Bachman! Nicely stated! While listening to the issue Oldest Daughter asked, “wasn’t there a president who died from a disease?” I said, “yes Franklin Delanore Roosevelt died of Polio. Good point.” Then I thought a minute and decided that was a REALLY good point made by her. Would the same leftist people criticizing Bachman on her migraines also criticize Roosevelt for running for being president?
Bachmann: Yes, I experience migraines, but so do 30 million other Americans

I’m not that reassured by Bachman’s statement. Don’t know if we can really get the truth now as to how severe or frequent her attacks are. I have a dear friend of decades standing, who among many minor ailments, also suffers from “debilitating migraines”. When she has them, she misses work. If she weren’t so good at her work when she is there, the occasional sudden & unpredictable bout of migraine probably would have gotten her fired. POTUS is different, we can’t let that job slide or wait till the attack subsides. According to my friend, no medication that has ever been prescribed for her migraines has been very successful — at best, they reduce the frequency but not the severity of the attacks she still has, several times a year, usually missing at least 1 full day at the job when one hits. -

This headache thing should not disqualify her. We are after all electing people and not Saints.
Just for the record:
Sexual Addiction 3 Presidents (Harding, JFK, Clinton)
Chronic Depression (Lincoln, Hoover)
Obsessive Paranoid (Jackson)
Chronically Clumsy (Ford)
Four died due to lead poisoning (Lincoln, Mckinley, Garfield, Kennedy)
One died due to pneumonia (Harrison)
Cancer (Grover Cleveland had an eye and the roof of his mouth removed while in office.)
Stroke (Wilson in last year of his term)
Alzheimer’s (Reagan in last half of 2nd term…subject to considerable debate still)
Addison’s Disease (Kennedy life threatening disease requiring extreme pain maintenanceSimple

The so-called “cut, cap and balance” measure passed on a party-line vote, 234-190, as nine Republicans — including presidential candidates Michele Bachmann (Minn.) and Ron Paul (Texas) — and five Democrats defected.

I believe both he and Bachman defected b/c CC & B ultimately raisesd the debt limit, but does so in return for immediate cuts, caps on some spending, and a Balanced Budget Amendment to the Constitution.

I don’t get who the balanced budget amendment stuff is supposed to appease. Like a caller into the Limbaugh show and Steyn were talking about today, there are so many loopholes, shannonigans that can be played, it would never be abided by. Besides, the time it would take for a constitutional amendment would tend to put any real budget cutting on the backburner waiting for the process.

See, I don’t buy that argument. To me that’s like the argument against drilling because it will take 10 years to reap the benefits. The 26th Amendment was proposed by the Senate and in less than four months 3/4ths of the states had ratified it.
49 states have a balanced budget amendment. Obama has recently said he’s against it because it does something Congress should already be doing. Yeah, but they’re not!

The problem with a Balanced Budget Amendment is that it would almost certainly result in tax increases. There at least needs to be a mechanism that would allow for deficit spending in time of war.

He’s really against it because it would be a strict limit on the growth of government.

I believe that mechanism is that 2/3 of both houses of Congress could vote to suspend the requirement to balance the budget. -

The “Cap” provision eliminates that by capping Federal expenditures at some % of GDP and (IIRC) requires a supermajority for tax increases.

I’m in favor of it. Its not the solution to the immediate problem, but it is the ultimate solution to the problem as a whole.
I’m just wary of giving both parties any wiggle room. This whole debt ceiling thing was supposed to put an end to it as well—–but they always find a way around these things. I’d hate to think of what kind of emergency the Dems (or Pubbies for that matter) could think up to get a 2/3 majority.

Ok, I should say it will tend to be an excuse to do nothing put it on the backburner. Do you not agree the loopholes and bypasses would be gigantic and in the end be a law with no teeth? They already say it would not be in effect in a national emergency. Who declares the crisis?

SEC. 301. REQUIREMENT THAT A BALANCED BUDGET AMENDMENT BE SUBMITTED TO STATES.
(a) In General- The Secretary of the Treasury shall not exercise the additional borrowing authority provided under subsection (b) until the Archivist of the United States transmits to the States H.J. Res. 1 in the form reported on June 23, 2011, S.J. Res. 10 in the form introduced on March 31, 2011, or H.J. Res. 56 in the form introduced on April 7, 2011, a balanced budget amendment to the Constitution, or a similar amendment if it requires that total outlays not exceed total receipts, that contains a spending limitation as a percentage of GDP, and requires that tax increases be approved by a two-thirds vote in both Houses of Congress for their ratification.
(b) Amendment to Title 31- Effective on the date the Archivist of the United States transmits to the States H.J. Res 1 in the form reported, S.J. Res. 10 in the form introduced, or H.J. Res. 56 in the form introduced, a balanced budget amendment to the Constitution, or a similar amendment if it requires that total outlays not exceed total receipts, contains a spending limitation as a percentage of GDP, and requires tax increases be approved by a two-thirds vote in both Houses of Congress for their ratification, section 3101(b) of title 31, United States Code, is amended by striking the dollar limitation contained in such subsection and inserting $16,700,000,000,000.
If $16.7 trillion ain’t enough wiggle room to cover any national emergency I’m not sure we even need to argue the semantics.

That’s not a reference to a limitation of a defict amount to be allowed in the event of a national emergency.
Section 3101(b) of title 31, United States Code is the Debt Limit. All that does is raise the current debt limit to $16,700,000,000,000.

Regarding rainfall at our house–0.01″ as a guesstimate because our rain gauge doesn’t have marks that small. It was enough to barely fill the bottom and run out in two big drops when overturned. 🙁 Also removed a desiccated caterpillar creature clinging to the inside at the 2″ mark, just in case of a gulley washer so the measurement wouldn’t be distorted by the corpse. Watched the radar off and on until mid-afternoon and gave up as a lost cause. Light rain with patchy sprinkes was all we got. At least it stayed in the low 80s thanks to the overcast.
