People on the left have accused those on the right of trying to control their lives through intrusive laws for years. On closer examination, it is obvious the reverse is much more accurate.
A prime example of this is the city of San Francisco. The city’s board of supervisors is entertaining a motion to ban sales of all live animals inside the city except those used for human food except fish. For example, you could buy goldfish, but not a puppy; you could go down to the market and buy a live crab, as long as you promise to eat it and not put it into a fish tank; left unclear is whether it would be ok to buy a fluffy bunny to feed your python.
Bad:
Good:
This follows on the heels of a failed effort to ban male circumcision (even if for religious reasons as in the cases of Jews & Muslims), and successful bans on Happy Meals containing toys, plastic grocery bags, and sugary drinks, among other nannyish laws.
These efforts are similar to the mandates for low-flow toilets and shower heads and the upcoming ban on incandescent light bulbs (in favor of toxic chemicals in a glass corkscrew).
Bad:
Good:
Dennis Prager suggested sending additional nannying suggestions to the SF board of supervisors. I’m sure we could come up with some of our own. One suggestion was to mention that wedding photographers should be required to post equal numbers of man-man and womyn-womyn pictures as “traditional unions in their shop windows. The idea was to sound serious enough that it would make sense to a collection of loons such as they.
I don’t know where to send these; I’m sure an enterprising sort could find out.

I have asked you on several occasions not to bring your personal vendetta against Jennings here. I will not ask again.
I wasn’t even aware he’d made the post. I got the link to the story I posted last night through Facebook. Check with Sally as I believe she’s Freinded to the same source. I rarely read Jennings. Check the time stamp on this post: https://www.facebook.com/VoicesEmpower#!/VoicesEmpower/posts/247214075293444
and you’ll see that it roughly coincides with my post last night, I linked to the Agendawise Report (which is linked to in the Voices Empower post) because it was in a format that was easier to read. I belong to several Facebook pages that have feelings similar to Straus as I do, and I spread that info to as many folks as I can. We’re encouraged to do that in the Tea Party, its one of the reasons for our existence and what we do, and will continue to do, in order to maintain accountability in politicians, especially the ones that claim to be Conservative while running for office, but act differently once elected. I will allow that Voices to Empower, Agendawise, and others may have made their posts in response to those of Jennings and other Straus supporters. Both of them are on one end or another of some talking points pipelines. That’s generally how these posts get made. Its a new world, and that’s how things operate.Anyone who thinks my beef with Straus, or my public comment on him and other Establishment Republicans, has anything to do with Jennings support of him (or my personal feelings towards anyone) is very, very wrong. My political opinons have always been strong and they have nothing to do with personalities. I do not like one politician because somone else dislikes him, or vice versa. I’ve made plenty of posts about Straus without David Jennings posting something first to prove that the impetus and mlotivation to do so is not based on what David posts on his blog. There are enough people here who share my opinons about Straus to make the whole notion that opposition to him or a comment made about him is based on what Jennings posts laughable. Do the other guys who have posted opinions about Straus, or posted links to stories putting him in an negative light have a beef with Jennings too, or did they reach thier opinion coming from the same political beliefs as mine?

I got the link the same way (I subscribe to the BJP page on FB). Like you, I rarely read the site itself. In general, I find it too “Republican-centric” for my tastes, but then again I’m not a Republican. In the same manner, I’m “friends” with several HCRP members on FB, but I don’t really follow them either. Truth be told, I’ve actually blocked most of them because I got tired of filtering through the propaganda they post. But I haven’t blocked BJP because there is occasionally something there that interests me.
Anyway, that was all just my long-winded way of saying that I can see where the events of yesterday have nothing whatsoever to do with a vendetta against DJ. Then again, it’s not me that you need to convince.

The open comments subject illustrates a classic psychological syndrome: Projection. The lib-terd-nozzles frequently accuse the R’s of wanting to control our lives, yet it is they who demand that we use low flush toilets (that require flushing 2-4 times to get the job done, thus using more water not less) that we use the curly-q bulbs that are toxic because the incandescent ones use too much energy, they insist that we do not spank our children (refusal to do so frequently yields juvenile delinquents) because they claim it may harm their psyche, demand that we do not eat meat because they deem it cruel to animals, and the list goes on and on. They accuse us of trying to cram our religious beliefs down their throats, yet it is they (via corrupt lib-terd-nozzle activist judges) who force their tiny minority agenda down our throats. Liberals suck swine butts; I have yet to see any redeeming qualities in any hard core liberal. Most liberals make a very good case for retroactive abortion.

One of my earliest childhood memories is going to watch Santa Claus parachute onto the big fountain in the middle of Lake Eola in downtown Orlando. Now apparently its a hobo jungle caught in a tug-of-war between the wealth redistributionists and unsuspecting (and uninvolved) websites:
ORLANDO —
The hacker group “Anonymous” strikes again in Orlando.
On Tuesday, it brought down the website orlandofloridaguide.com.
The group said it will continue to target Orlando websites until the city stops arresting members of Food Not Bombs, a group that holds mass homeless feedings at Lake Eola.

Surely the powers that be in San Fran will exempt gerbils from the live animal ban. I understand that they are used as a special treat by some denizens of the bay area. Other than that, it should be obvious to anyone who pays attention that the residents of that area of the country do in fact need a nanny state to oversee their lives as they do not have a clue what to do if left to their own devices.

#1 Toyota Camry
For the third year in a row the Kentucky and Indiana-built Toyota Camry tops the list with a combination of an 80 percent domestic parts content and more sales than any other car.#2 Honda Accord
It’s little surprise that the second-best-selling car in America also takes second place on Cars.com list. The Accord is manufactured at plants in Ohio and Alabama with 80 percent domestic parts.
…
#5 Honda Odyssey
The made in Alabama Odyssey is a perennial favorite among minivan buyers and its 75 percent domestic content helps it beat the top-selling Chrysler twins, which come from Canada.#6 Toyota Sienna
The redesigned Indiana-made Sienna jumped from #10 to #6 on this year’s list.
…
#9 Toyota Tundra
The Ford F-150 may be the best-selling truck in America, but with only 60 percent domestic content, it gets beat out on the list by this Toyota from Texas. -

Here’s the honest truth about the debt ceiling issue. The Dems and some of the Reps are howling and sounding the fear siren of default if it is not increased. Now really, in whose world would the ability to borrow more money be the solution to a possibility of default on other debt? Periodically the planets align properly and occasionally, some are able to effect extraordinary achievements which might otherwise be elusive for generations. Now is such a time as it relates to our spending and our indebtedness. (BTW, I have yet to hear any Republican say out loud that the way to generate additional government revenues is to lower the tax burden). Why aren’t they shouting that from the rafters, using government revenues from the Regan era to prove their point?
No, it’s just SOS. Promise to cut something later and raise the borrowing limit today. No matter what, that is what will eventually happen. That’s just kicking the can down the road one more time, relying on the magic beans to solve the problem. If they were serious, they would be emphatically sounding the alarm that the debt ceiling will not be raised no matter what. It’s a given, and the executive branch must figure out how to deal with it. Put the burden right where it belongs – on the Dems. They will keep howling about how unfair and racist it is, and let them. But, emphasize the need to get government out of the way, lower the tax burden, and turn the economy loose if they really want government revenues to go up. Keep repeating it over and over, the same way the Dems promote their silly talking points every day.
Anyone who votes to increase the debt limit, no matter what the circumstance, must the sent home at the next opportunity. It’s that simple. (Are you listening Pete?)

I’ve had people give me grief over me not buying American. I didn’t even consider GM or Chrysler because of the bailouts. I chose a Camry because I tend to keep cars for a long time and Camrys have excellent records for long term reliability. The domestic content is icing on the cake.

That’s a big deal in the upper Midwest. But up there, what they’re really ticked about is not buying UAW.
It’s no coincidence that all the cars in #15 are made at non-union plants.

Yup. Mrs. Dude drives one too (a 2007). It’s been a great car.
I drive a 2004 Dodge Truck – you probably saw it at the cookout we had at Bear Creek Park. It’s been OK mechanically, but I will definitely not replace it with another Dodge, and certainly not a GM. I’m considering either a Ford F150 or a Tundra when it’s time.

Lawrence buys the vehicle that gives his family the most value for the dollar irregardless of where it was made or who made it. The last three vehicles were either Toyota or Honda products. Before those, it was 2 Fords – one SUV and the truck I still drive daily. The SUV was an Expedition that my wife drove for 10 years and then was driven by my kids for 4 more years. We had it serviced, detailed and gave it to another family member who is driving it to this day. My truck is a 2004 F-150 that’s still going strong. I plan to drive it at least two more years.
Will not be buying a Dodge or GM product ever, period.

It looks like Ahmajackass could be on his way out.
Mahmoud Ahmadinejad, Iran’s irascible, unpredictable but devout president, may be forced to resign in the coming weeks as a political crisis far greater than the massive street violence which followed his re-election in 2009 threatens to overwhelm him and his court favourites in the government.
The overweening influence of his close friend and confidant Esfandiar Rahim-Mashaee, the president’s chief of staff – who is blamed for the firing of two intelligence ministers and for infuriating even the Supreme Leader, Ayatollah Sayed Ali Khamenei – is expected to bring down Ahmadinejad in one of the most spectacular putsches in the history of the Islamic Republic.
The article is really quite an interesting look into the Iranian CF.

My response to a comment like that (I drive a Hyundai Sante Fe) is to invite the commenter to:
1) Go pound sand up his/her hoo-ha
2) After they finish #1 then I invite them to go and play on the freeway
3) Then I simply tell them that it is the best fit I could find for my needs at the best price
4) Repeat steps #1 and 2. -

I bought a 2009 chevy pickup right before the bailout. I had a GM Mastercard and was not about to leave a $4000 rebate on the table. Next truck will not be GM, but I sure wish Ford or Toyota had a Mastercard like GM.

Big Kat, I’ve been driving Ford trucks since I was a teenager. The last two were 4×4’s. I drove a ’97 Super Cab to the 170,000 mile mark and then bought the truck I have now. I’m sold on Ford trucks.
A good friend of mine who’s been a mechanic all his life told me about a week ago that Ford’s new twin turbo V6 is one awesome power plant. I think it makes 360+hp and close to 500lbft of torque – and gets better mileage than their V8. One of his customers has one and loves it.

On BBC, Sen Tom Coburn is on Bloomfield Tv and feeding lunch to some interviewer explaining why there has to be a reduction in government spending. The interviewer keeps trying to get him to agree to raise taxes.
Coburn just stated get rid of the income tax and go to a federal sales tax.
Pretty smart guy from what I’m hearing.

#28 Low Rentz: ECOBOOST: I just checked the Ford Website and learned that the engine in question is a 3.5 liter double overhead cam V-6, cams are independantly variable in timing Intake vs Exhaust, dual water cooled turbos, output is 365 HP and 420ftlb torque. I did not yet find a performance curve for this critter but I would love to see where in the RPM band the torque really comes on. Seeing as how there are TWO TURBOS on this critter, they don’t have to be as big so they should spool faster and at lower RPMs and be overall much more responsive.
Ford used to advertise several years ago that 80% of peak torque was available at 1200 RPMs or something like that in the small V8. -

Well, that’s that:
The House voted to adjourn sine die around 12:30 p.m., following a vote on Rep. David Simpson’s (R-Longview) anti-TSA-groping bill.
As many expected, it did not clear the 4/5 hurdle necessary to suspend the Texas Constitution’s three-day reading rule, and failed.

So figure this. I can get everywhere on the net except my email. Multiple reboots frustration etc. Nothing works. I pop the disk out of the dvd drive. And my email now works. What the heck is that all about.

Tarp, QE 1,2,3, are all examples of the same crapola in #41 above. Bottom line is the profits are private but the losses are socialized, and even in the midst of huge losses the big shot elites still get fat bonuses. The rat-screwing has been going on for far too long on both sides. There’s a revolution a comin and it won’t be pretty.

#44 With all due respect oh couchmaster, advertised mpg and real world mpg are usually not the same. The question was what was the empirical data showing to be real world mpg.

Why is the nest of vipers known as the UN still allowed to headquarter on US soil?
Despite numerous breaches of arms embargoes and continued threats to expand its nuclear weapons program, North Korea has assumed the presidency of the United Nations Conference on Disarmament. In a speech to the 65-nation arms control forum in Geneva, the newly-appointed president, North Korean Ambassador So Se Pyong, said he was “very much committed to the Conference.”
Withdraw from all UN-associated functions, cut off all funding, and give them six months to get the hell out or we’ll confiscate anything left here.

Good afternoon Hamsters. Started off at 73 and reasonably comfortable this morning, which of course was a big clue things were going to be really hot/dry this afternoon. Currently 97 with 33% humidity and partly cloudy with wind, such as it is, from the East. Some of the clouds are actually darkish, but of course we can’t be fooled by that teaser.
The black-headed buzzard trio is back in the yard this afternoon. They seem to make a daily circuit of the neighborhood and like our place in the shade. Their clumsiness was laughable today as they roosted in a liveoak next to the driveway near the garage, and all moved higher when I walked down to the mailbox. Noisy flapping semi-obstructed by branches got them up inelegantly after overcoming feet slipping. Keystone Kops/Three Stooges blended describes them well. However since they weren’t standing on my flowers, they weren’t doing any harm. They obviously remembered I hollered at them several days running and so decided to move without being told. It’s kinda spooky wondering what or who they’re waiting for. 😉

Like the movie Groundhog Day, so goes cowardly tRick Perry’s promise on the sanctuary city bill or anything else when it comes to stemming the flow of illegal immigration or securing our borders.
Can’t say I’m surprised.
The securing the borders game is really alot like wrestling.–The repubs and the dims get in the ring and body slam each other, slam heads into the turnbuckle and smash chairs over each other’s heads.
But when it’s all said and done the audience(constituents) know it’s all for show, phony and rigged and when the match is over, the repubs and the dims are high-fiving each other and drinking a beer together.

Yup. Mrs. Dude drives one too (a 2007). It’s been a great car.
I drive a 1997 Corrola and it still runs great. I’m gonna drive it to its grave. In fact if I have to trade it in before it reaches 300,000 miles on the odometer I’ll feel cheated. 🙂

but I sure wish Ford or Toyota had a Mastercard like GM.
I’m not at all opposed to them offering one or for anyone who had a GM Mastercard but wasn’t getting into the financial sector of the market one reason GM got into such big financial troubles?

the repubs and the dims are high-fiving each other and drinking a beer together.
Sad but true. Like when I first realized, during the O.J. Simpson trial, that prosecuting and defending attorneys all go out for a beer together after slugging it out in court all day.

Richard Dellert, Zachary Provence, Kimberly Kirchler Vergara and Lorena Hodges were accused of attacking 18-year-old Stetson Johnson on April 17.
Del City police have said they were punishing Johnson after one of the women accused him of trying to have sex with her.
Johnson denied the allegation, saying he is acquainted with all four suspects but has never tried to hurt any of them. Investigators have said there was no evidence to support the others’ claim.
One of my college English professors was a very strong feminist and once brainstormed a similar idea. The professor expressed excitement over a group of females in a college somewhere who would spray paint rapitst’s names on a large rock. When I responded, “I don’t know, do you really want to spray paint someone’s name on that rock just because he was accused of rape?” She didn’t know what to say after that. When I read this article as headlined on Drudge, it screamed “feminist” to me.

You can’t *se the word God without government approval. Like heck. Hammie’s grannie maybe but not some sh*thead bureaucratHow dare she require families to submit their prayers to her in writing for approval?! Oh. And there’s more. And no bibles. And no chapel. Oh wait. The chapel was closed.

THANK YOU to Congressman Ted Poe for already calling into the Michael Berry Show personally to support stopping this unacceptable action against religious freedom. He’s confirmed that this Director is in violation of the law and should be fired. AGREED. -
