Wednesday Drug Cartel Open Comments

The drug war is too costly, so we should just give up.

As a condition of the retreat, [Mexico’s former foreign minister, Jorge] Castañeda said cartels need to get the message that they must crawl back into the underworld, and stop the kidnappings, extortion and mayhem that have rocked Mexico for five years.
If they don’t comply, the military needs to be unleashed again to go after them for the murder and mayhem, rather than wasting more resources on drug trafficking crimes, he said.

Will. Not. Work.
The cartels aren’t going to just up and say, “Well, guess we had better retire and find a new line of work.” I can’t figure out how people think that making drugs legal will improve things. Sure, you can tax them, but who will manufacture them?
No company of any repute will manufacture the drugs that are currently illegal; the civil liabilities for overdosage, etc. are simply much too high. What you would get is the same distribution structure, the same fights for turf, the same everything, except that distributing would be legal.

103 Darren,
Long before Toshi “Harold” Sakata became Oddjob, he was an American Olympic Weight Lifter (1948) and then a professional wrestler (Tosh Togo).
There is no mention of him being proficient in Karate or Judo. Guess the hat was a good thing.

George Soros and the Left really want your faith. On The American Thinker blog, Jason Lee sums these issues up: As Obama‘s allies on the Religious Left step forward to promote Obama’s agenda and build momentum for his 2012 campaign, we should be prepared to expose them for who they really are. In many cases we will discover that these… Read more »

The hat was his weapon. After he takes it off, throws it at you, severing your head from your neck, well that’s when his profile looks like the shape on Mars. 🙂

IMHO, Mrs. Weiner should 1) order him to resign, 2) move out, 3) get the best divorce attorney she and Hillary can find (Hill must have looked into finding one previously), 4) never speak to him again other than through her attorney, 5) give no interviews to the press jackals . That’s just for openers.

86 Fats We could lock up all drug users. Oh wait! We have tried that and it did not work. The prison populations have swollen and whether you like it or not…you can pay for rehab on an out-patient basis or you can pay to house addicts in institutions (jails-prisons). It is not a perfect solution, but these are the… Read more »

Bonecrusher, Lawrence and Simple: My thoughts: 1. I believe that the use of mind/mood altering drugs for non-medical purposes is immoral and evil – the Bible refers to the practice as witchcraft – and it is the proper role of government to outlaw the practice, and pursue those who violate the law. 2. The government has no business paying for… Read more »

Doesn’t he know that the only way to stop this is to resign?

The National Enquirer pictures show Weiner protectively posing in a pair of pantihose and a bra as he smiles cheekily at the camera.
In another photo an oiled Weiner poses in y-fronted swimming trunks in front of a Christmas tree.

65 Bonehead,
Neither method is sufficent on its own merits. We need drug treatment and interdiction.
We also need Churches, Neighborhoods, and families to say no more!
We seem to focus too much on the street level dealers; the higher-ups and infastructure that is needed to ship the drugs and clean the money go unpunished or punished too lightly.
