Well, this article explains a lot. I’m not a big follower of this story, but I can’t avoid it. I’m more interested in the personality and the traits described:
10 reasons why Anthony Weiner could survive sex tweet scandal
He has nowhere else to go.
Well, that’s a sad commentary on a man of such obvious, well, gifts. He seems to be fairly attractive, and despite being a liberal, should have at least two brain cells to rub together. Why is it that he “needs this job”?
…he has no shame… Most people in his situation would resign out of sheer embarrassment. But Weiner is not most people.
Again, this is sad. Shame prevents most of us from doing abominable acts. Without shame, the guardrails on a lot of behavior just don’t exist.
Weiner’s wife Huma Abedin is pregnant, very popular in Democratic circles and wants him to stay in Congress.
I guess she needs him to keep this job, too. And, working for Hillary, I’m guessing her shame level is very low, too.
Senator David Vitter, a Republican, acted illegally in using prostitutes and still managed to be re-elected as a Senator for New Orleans. It seems Weiner did nothing illegal.
Two words: “New Orleans” ’nuff said, there. But for Weiner to use New Orleans standards – well, we go back the whole “shame” thing.
Since his teary press conference on Monday, no new sexual allegations or women have come out of the woodwork.
Okay, the levee is broken, the house is flooded, mud fills every crevice of our home, our clothes are mildewed, and there’s not much worth saving left, but Hallelujah! The floodwaters aren’t rising any more! We’re safe!
It’s an off year in House election terms so Democrats may well calculate that the effect of this scandal will wear off.
It’s a “wait out the voter” tactic. Has nothing to do morality, just a short attention span.
Another big political story has just broken – the virtual collapse of Newt Gingrich’s campaign. With no new Weiner developments, press attention will shift.
See above.
… within the context of New York politics and Clinton sex scandals Weiner’s offences were relatively minor.
What DOES a man have to do for offences to be “relatively major”? Quantity? Quality? Yuck factor? Embezzlement?
Weiner is a Democrat and…Democrats are more understanding about sexual misbehaviour than Republicans are.
I agree with this one. Does it reflect on Democrat leadership, or Democrat voters?
The poll numbers…could be much worse for the congressman.
I guess it reflects on the voters.
***************
So, we have a man who cannot fathom giving up his power or his job, has no shame, no morals, and is willing to wait out any voter outrage, which seems to be rather light amongst his constituents, rather than get help or do the right thing. And his wife is good with it.
I guess it’s a New York thing.
Tony Weener’s next gig?

Sarge / Super Dave No one ever believes me for what I did in the service so I do not talk about it. When I visited Sarge after Liz passing I think I told him some portions with my wife there. I have no need to lie or expand on my experiences. I was very good at what I did and was blessed to work for some very good people. When I left the service no one gave a crap about my experiences so I left it behind. It is not my life today. There are so many people out… Read more »

If that is so
My apology to Simple Simon
Technically, I was a Specialist 5th Class, although I did spend a year as a “hard stripe” Sergeant. Long story. My Reserve unit was one lf the few in 90th ARCOM that was over staffed. Any time someone with any rank retired or left the unit, those in lower ranks were theorhetically eligible for promotion, but if we had someone with the proper rank and job qualifications, we were required by regulation to put him in the empty slot. It was a great unit, more like a tight knit fambly, so we didn’t have a lot of people leaving. I… Read more »
Simple Sarge and Squawk, I got the feeling one poster thought that Sargents (E5 – E9) were something of a lower caste. I do not know about the Air Force, but Sargents run the Marine Corps; ask any good officer and he will backup that statement. I think that it was my quote from yesterday; “NO that would be like a Sergeant (pretty low on the Sergeants list, I think).” I may have said it wrong, as my english is not very good, just ask Adee. I just meant that I thought it was the first step as a Sergeant,… Read more »
Thatta girl! A good woman never has to be told.
Say Darren, how’s that boy with the mouse bite doing? You gotta keep us up-to-date on these things.
Tim, and you other male chauvinist Hamsters, you’ll be pleased to hear I do make sammiches for my worser half (?). I don’t bring ’em on command, I wrap & leave ’em in the fridge so they are handy. I also buy Fritos even though they have no redeeming nutritional value — ‘cuz he likes Fritos with his sammiches.
Beer is a no-go around here. I’ve totally lost my palate for alcohol, and he just has a little red wine which is good for older men who’ve had heart bypass.
That is all.

Well, I think I go into town, wrestle me a grizzly bear, and kiss me a purty girl.

I hope he don’t mix it up like he did the last time
Bring it on! 😀
I’m talkin’ to you! 😀
Dang.
That was a good Di Nero imitation.
Here’s my John Wayne:
Well, He doesn’t know there’s a six foot chasm at the top of that rise.

You talkin’ to me??
Pelosi went on record saying that she would not call for his resignation, then Charilie Rangel defended him—then this story breaks.
Sux to be them I think.
Caller to some radio show today mentioned Weiner ought to be looked at as more of a flasher than a sexter. Makes a little difference, to me anyway.
Another caller said how many 17 yr old boy’s lives have been ruined being labeled a sex offender just for sexting a 16 yr old? But this terdnozzle is gonna get off free? Good point.
Just reported on the radio that Weiner admits contact with a 17 year girl. HotAir has an update to a previous story here Update: Weiner assures his spokesman that all of his interactions with the girl were above board. You trust him, don’t you? Weiner’s spokesman, Risa Heller, emails: “According to Congressman Weiner, his communications with this person were neither explicit nor indecent.” Update: A friend e-mails to note the unusual formulation of the statement from Weiner’s office. Maybe it’s nothing, or maybe it’s something. Do press agents usually say “According to the congressman”? They usually just assert or deny… Read more »
Get your man a beer and a sammich women!
Ah what the hell. 100
It’s tempting to stick around & try for the 100 spot — came early this evening because the boys were scrapping over who could talk to who and used up a lot of post numbers — and then that cute line about hitching up the rooster — but I gots chores to do, so later, all ya Hamsters.
Uh oh.
Patterico has more
I’m guessing that’s what got the po po interested.
Please lordy, let this be the last word on Weiner…

I’m going to defer to wagonburner on the rooster dealie.
My, aren’t the butterflys beautiful?
Boy, if I tell you a rooster can pull a wagon, you best hitch him up.
I sure do hope Thad McCotter gets a good job in the next Administration. I’d back him for Prez, but I doubt his candidacy would get far. “Mr. Romney and Mr. Obama are not rivals, they’re running mates.” McCotter said at a Plymouth, Mich. event held Wednesday afternoon, a day before Romney’s arrival in the Wolverine state. McCotter added: “In the area of cap and trade, the President and Mr. Romney both believe in climate change. In the area of health care, both the President and Mr. [Romney] believe in comparative effectiveness research and government controlling the supply of health… Read more »
Its all so confusing.
One of the things I learned as an NCO was to be clear in my instruction.
There you go speaking to me directly again. Your instructikon was not to say anything unless you did.
How bout you just stop talkin to me?
That’s another way out.
You spoke to me. You are still self righteous hypocrite who has learned nothing. So please do not try to elevate your ego by trying to make me a doormat Serge’. I have provided you a way out in my #86 i would strongly suggest you take it.
Well,
Well;
Do us a favor and stop telling us.

Yah, that must be it. 🙂

Hmm, CPA… mule deer… OK, no wonder you’d rather be fishing. 🙂
How’s/what’s he doing these days?
Once again Serge’ I have nothing to say to you. Nothing. I will address you directly when I do. Till that time just put me on your ignore list.
The proudest moment of my life after the birth of my children was watching my son graduate from Marine Corps Basic Training.
I remember.
Well, you made a couple posts about it, so I thought you did.
My bad.
Nothing like a big ol’ bowl of steaming, homemade chili on an evening like this.
Thanks, Dear.

Nope. I do not care what you do. You will note that my comments began addressing someone else. Not you. I actually have very little to say to you. I prefer to keep it that way too.
I know.
But it appears you get unhappy when other folks do.
Go back and read the my little back words Serge’. On the contrary I did not. Never once have I said anything about the Army or the Marines other than each supports the other for a common goal. How you make the jump to interservice rivalry with that is beyond me.

Yes. I’ve had many a night entertained by good natured inter-service rivalries between friends. In the end though, we all know the Marines are right, the rest are just a bunch of wussies.
🙂
And Serge’ I have never said I do not enjoy talking about my time in service. I do not have any desire to share those experiences with you or OverlySimplified Simon.
OK—-but you’re the one who made it a topic for discussion
This could be a really good thing. . . . . .if it is true and not hype. Researchers will report at the conference that new varieties of wheat under development at the International Maize and Wheat Improvement Center in Mexico show resistance to all three kinds of wheat rust — stem rust including Ug99, yellow rust and leaf rust — the release said. Some of those varieties also boost yields 10 to 15 percent, it said. snip Ravi Singh, a wheat breeder at CIMMYT, helped lead the research on the new strains, which he’ll present at the conference and… Read more »
I’d also hate to thiknk that anybody our age didn’t have something that they did 30 years ago was NOT a defining experience in thier lives.
Count me as I do not care about interservice rivalries. I did not care about them back then, I do not care about them now.
And I’d hate to think that something done as important and sacrificial as being in the Service thirty years ago wasn’t worth talking about.
For most of the veterans I know, inter-service rivalry is good natured fun, and memories of Service is an acknowledgement that a journey was begun at a given point, and the experience had a positive effect on the rest of thier lives.
Some folks see interservice rivalry as a personal attack and the recollection of time in Service by other veterans with some sort of negative connotation, and thus seek to demean the practice.
Me?
Count me in with the first bunch.

Katfish #55;
Probably the best info I could get. This is my cousin-in-law’s choice of celebrating his birthday. You know, just hangin’ out with friends while fshing. i was really honored that he asked me to go. Oldest Son totally wants to go as well.
LOL on the SNIPE hunting. I’ve been camping and so I already know about it. 😉
What remained of Weiners credibility is going limp.
Now possible criminality enters the picture, Hey Weiner! 17 will get you 20 everytime.
