I guess this is a case of “If you can’t beat them, join ’em.”  Or rather, “If you can’t beat your competition, force ’em to join you.”

In charter schools, the interest of the students comes first, so adults oftentimes find themselves going above and beyond to ensure that students succeed.  In the documentary “Kids Aren’t Cars,” the story was told of Tindley Accelerated School in Indianapolis.  The principal said his teachers stay late and work Saturdays if necessary because they do not accept failure.
That’s why it is disturbing to watch labor unions organize charter school after charter school, with little being done about it.  Their intent is clear.  Consider what United Federation of Teachers Vice President Leo Casey said at the recent socialist Left Forum, courtesy of EAGtv:
“If we do not figure out how to organize charter schools and if we are not successful in doing that, we will end up in the same place as the auto workers. So there is no more key question before us as a union and a broader labor movement with regard to education than how we approach charter schools and our ability to organize them.”

Yep, that’s seems about right for the left.  If you can’t get your legislation passed, punt the issue to a friendly judge.  If you can’t win in the arena of ideas, stop fighting with ideas and demonize your opponent.  And if you see your protectionist racket being exposed and rejected, your leadership about to be demoted, and your friends in high places endangered and disempowered – force your successful opposition to become one of you!
There’s a word for this, but I just can’t seem to recall it right now…

PS: Sorry this is a little late.  I worked until I reached puke status night before last, and crashed and burned early last night and into the morning….

How ’bout if we use this form to vet Presidential candidates?

I guarantee I couldn’t supply all that information.

Proposed new passport form wants personal details

The questionnaire is intended for people seeking a U.S. passport but who cannot supply a birth certificate.

The new State Department form is extremely detailed:

The proposed new Form DS-5513 asks for all addresses since birth; lifetime employment history including employers’ and supervisors names, addresses, and telephone numbers; personal details of all siblings; mother’s address one year prior to your birth; any “religious ceremony” around the time of birth; and a variety of other information. According to the proposed form, “failure to provide the information requested may result in … the denial of your U.S. passport application.”

    And here’s the form

Hamsters, I have a goofy question about something that I can’t seem to find any info about. I watched the recent 3-part “Upstairs, Downstairs 2011” series on PBS. An Indian character Armanjit Singh lives in the London house with the British family’s domestic servants, circa 1930. During the day, he wears a suit, a turban, and has a full beard that is smooth across his face but does not hang down below the chin. In one scene of a nightime disturbance, we see Mr Singh with long loose hair and his beard is also long loose and flowing. My question is, what type of grooming or styling causes most of the beard to be invisible? Can a long beard be combed across each side of the face and swept up under a turban?

It’s an elegant look, whatever the trick is, but it was shocking in that one scene to realize how much hair there actually was.

NY taxpayers could foot bill for rapist’s heart transplant

Taxpayers may pay $800,000 to give a life-saving heart transplant to an upstate rapist whose crime of incest was so “grotesquely criminal” that a prosecutor said he should “rot in prison.”

If doctors give the OK, Kenneth Pike, 55, would be the first New York prisoner to get a heart transplant. Pike was flown Monday from the state prison in Coxsackie to Strong Memorial Hospital in Rochester, where 49 patients are awaiting donor hearts.

#17 Geezer: The POS which you reference has already had a triple bypass on the taxpayers dime. I saw the report on FoxNews this am and in that report it said that he had withdrawn from the transplant list. I would suggest looking for suitable “donors” from the prison population (life with no parole possible) and HIV negative. We could give them an option to be a prompt donor for some payment to their family and nice words about ‘giving back’ to society.

    Maxine Waters: Swamp Queen

Last summer, the House Ethics Committee charged the entrenched California congresswoman with three violations related to her wheeling and dealing on behalf of minority-owned OneUnited Bank in Los Angeles. The panel accused Waters of bringing discredit to the House for using her influence to seek and secure taxpayer-subsidized special favors for the failing financial institution.
Eight months have passed since the House ethics panel charged Waters. But to date, there has been no action. No trial. No consequences.

I say that the gene pool in the house needs a REALLY BIG SHOT OF CHLORINE. If the R’s can’t charge and expel this blatantly corrupt slime bucket, then we need a new crop of R’s.

Look at it this way, if the tax payers can save 20+ years of confinement costs, why not give 5 years worth of those to the kids so they can possibly get an education and lead a productive life? The tax payer comes out way ahead and the terd gets a chance to do something really good for his fellow man.

Absolute proof that God did it all by himself . If he had help it would have unfolded something like this:

In the beginning, God created the heavens and the earth. The earth was without form and void, so God created a small committee. He carefully balanced the committee vis-a-vis race, gender, ethnic origin, and economic status in order to interface pluralism with the holistic concept of self-determination according to adjudicatory guidelines.
Even God was impressed, and so ended the first day.

And God said, “Let the committee draw up a mission statement.” And behold, the committee decided to prioritize and strategize and God called that process empowerment. And God thought it sounded pretty good.
And evening and morning were the second day.

And God said, “Let the committee determine goals and objectives and engage in long-term planning.” Unfortunately, a debate about the semantic differences between goals and objectives pre-empted almost all of the third day. Although the question was never satisfactorily resolved, God thought the process was constructive.
And evening and morning were the third day.

And God said, “Let there be a retreat in which the committee can envision functional organization and engage in planning by objectives.” The committee considered adjustment of priorities and consequential alternatives to program directions, and God saw that this was good. And God thought that it was even worth all of the coffee and donuts that he had to supply.
And so ended the fourth day.

And God said, “Let the committee be implemented with long-range planning and strategy.” The committee considered guidelines and linkages and structural sensitivities, and alternatives and implemental models. And God saw that this was very democratic.
And so would have ended the fifth day, except for the unintentional
renewal of the debate about the differences between goals and objectives.

On the sixth day the committee agreed on criteria for adjudicatory assessment and evaluation. This wasn’t the agenda that God had planned. He wasn’t able to attend, however, because he had to take the afternoon off to create day and night and heaven and earth and seas and plants and stars and trees and seasons and years and sun and moon and birds and fish and animals and human beings.

On the seventh day God rested and the committee submitted its recommendations. It turned out that the recommended forms for things were nearly identical to the way that God had created them; so the committee passed a resolution commending God for his implementation according to the guidelines. There was, however, some opinion expressed that people should have been created in the committee’s image.

And God caused a deep sleep to fall upon the committee . . .

#23 M: We are “Scripturalists” some refer to us as Messianics, others just call us jerks. We believe that the Bible needs to be interpreted as a whole, the Law of Moses is still intact and in effect and that we should keep and do it, just like Paul said:

    Rom 2:12-14

12 For all who have sinned without the Law will also perish without the Law, and all who have sinned under the Law will be judged by the Law; 13 for it is not the hearers of the Law who are just before God, but the doers of the Law will be justified.
    NASU

    James too:

    James 1:21-25
Therefore, putting aside all filthiness and all that remains of wickedness, in humility receive the word implanted, which is able to save your souls. 22 But prove yourselves doers of the word, and not merely hearers who delude themselves. 23 For if anyone is a hearer of the word and not a doer, he is like a man who looks at his natural face in a mirror; 24 for once he has looked at himself and gone away, he has immediately forgotten what kind of person he was. 25 But one who looks intently at the perfect law, the law of liberty, and abides by it, not having become a forgetful hearer but an effectual doer, this man will be blessed in what he does.
    NASU

The Law of Moses was/is perfect, HIS instructions for how HE wants us to live produces blessings, if one chooses otherwise then one can expect curses. That is what HIS law teaches.

While it is understood that Temple Sacrifice is not possible at this time because there is no Temple, the rest is still viable. We believe that The Messiah was the fleshly incarnation of THE LIVING ELOHIM. It was HIS PERSONAL SACRIFICE, HIS BLOOD that provided the payment to redeem us back into fellowship with HIM. In gratitude for that sacrifice and out of love, we choose to keep HIS WAY, AS WRITTEN to the best of our ability and understanding.

Well, this is interesting. Not unexpected, but interesting. I know I’m going to sound like a birther, but… I don’t think this is the real deal. It just doesn’t seem accurate. Maybe I’m just ignorant about birth certificates. I’m not taking a position on TBO’s birthplace, I just don’t understand why (1) he can’t supply a real BC, and (2) why he’s spending so much time and money to hide his BC and school records. Heck, we knew all of Bush’s grades and clubs and crap – why is TBO being so mysterious? That’s my big interest.

Anyway – back to the article and the comments:

    1) The registrar thing doesn’t bother me. It’s a bureaucracy that processes forms. Can you spell “g-o-v-e-r-n-m-e-n-t w-o-r-k?”
    2) I agree, this doesn’t look like a “long form” to me. In my history, most birth certificates have more information than this one does. Either Hawaii is “long” for “Hawaii,” or Hawaiians don’t record as much info on their birth certificates. Maybe TBO was weightless and lengthless at birth. Comment: “This is still isn’t the long form…Where are the weight and length fields? Would the term African instead of *** been used in 1961?” and “Not being racist…*N*e*g*r*o* was the formal term of use in 1961.”
    3) “On the WND site, as well as the certificate number being higher than a person born AFTER Obama, the long form birth certificates were microfished in 1961… see the microfished (sic) certificate on the WND site for a person born the day after Obama…. It was NOT printed on security paper and bound in a book in 1961!!! A real and official copy of a microfished (sic) document is black background with white lettering.” I can attest to the microfiching thing. I have my mother’s BC, and it is indeed black with white lettering. It makes sense that original BCs would have been microfilmed. Or not. I just don’t know how Hawaii handles their old records.
    4) As far as the “mysterious” numbers – who the heck knows? Some worker recorded something somewhere.
    5) “Certificate of Live Birth”? Wasn’t that what he released before? I though birth certificates said “Birth Certificate”. I find this strange.

I haven’t – and probably won’t – take the time to do this:
” “Try the following: Save off a copy of the exact PDF file the White House has released as Obama’s birth certificate this morning. Find yourself a copy of Adobe Illustrator (not Photoshop), and load up the PDF file in Illustrator. Then click on the center of the image of the birth certificate, then right-click on the center of the image, and click Release Clipping Mask. Have fun…” ……………………………………… Boy! Atta fake! I could make a better forgery. ”

As President with powerful cronies, and as someone who’s been trying valiantly to hide anything that documented his past, I was waiting for a fake certificate to show up. Something about this document just doesn’t seem right, from the first moment I set eyes on it. I think it’s the lack of vital statistics that does it for me.

But why fake a birth certificate? This just smells. I’m not saying he wasn’t born in Hawaii, just that he doesn’t have the ability to produce the documentation. Why?

  60. Tedtam Avatar

Well, it seems to me that the afterglow of Good Friday and Easter have just about run their course, so how about getting back to business. My question is along the lines of dealing with victims – in this case the Gabby Giffords (D) from Arizona. Now it should be apparent to just about everyone that she is not able to effectively perform the duties of her office and to properly represent her constituents, so why doesn’t she acknowledge that fact and step down? Or, is she proving the point that there’s no reason for anyone to have Congressional representation? Maybe they should develop some sort of injured reserve list like they do in pro sports so a back up could be named to step up until recovery was complete. I don’t mean to be too harsh about this, but I don’t know of any other employers who would keep the position at full pay and benefits open under similar circumstances.

I thought the Birth Certificate was bogus when I looked at it as well. The big red flag was race of father: African. What a bunch of bull crap; the term used THEN was NEGRO. The other thing that bothered me was the signature of the mother, it just doesn’t look right.
As far as newspaper clippings go, I don’t think it is out of the question or even that darned difficult for the bogus announcement to be dropped in long after the fact.
If there was no there there, why has he spent so much wissin money trying to hide his past? I have yet to hear even a remotely plausible explanation for that question.

With all due respect to those of you who differ:

The birth certificate thing is a smokescreen. It would be worth it to Obama to keep it going just to help keep attention off of what he’s doing now.

The time to look at his birth certificate (and other papers if warranted) was before he was elected, not now.

Here’s a question. What happens if he wasn’t born in the US? Do we remove him? If so does that mean we have Joe Biden as President? Or is he somehow also tainted.

What about all of the stuff Obama has done since his election. Do we kick his two nominees off of the Supreme Court? Take back the money we’ve paid him?

How do we go about it? Do we impeach him? Or do we claim he’s just not President and so we just indict him for fraud like any other person.

Frankly, we’ve got bigger and more important fish to fry. We need to look forward to 2012 and fire his sorry a$$ instead of looking back. In the meantime we have all sorts of important problems to deal with, without worrying about whether his birth certificate is on the right form.

The newspaper thing bothers me, some. It’s easier to see why a birth announcement might have been made if you consider that the parents were trying to ensure there kid was considered (or they considered) an American citizen, not necessarily going to become president. Looking at it that way, the newspaper announcement was not a “big conspiracy,” as some pundits call it.

That’s not what I meant. The Clintons DESPERATELY wanted to be president again. They would have done anything to achieve that. Had there been any “there” there they would have pummeled Barry with it during the primary.

The issue is there precisely because the Clinton campaign raised it. It was floated as a rumor with no actual proof. If the proof had been there, it would have been made as public as the Royal Wedding.

The thing is – who bells the cat? If the BC is fake and he’s not natural born (I do not believe that is the case, but just for arguments sake). Who finally decides? What court has jurisdiction? The supremes? With two of them just appointed by him?

You are asking for a huge Constitutional crisis – something that would absolutely dwarf Watergate – at a time when that is the last thing we need.

If you happen to be some congressional bureaucrat on the staff of the Speaker of the House and you are reading this, please kidnap your boss and take him to the nearest theatre playing Atlas Shrugged Part 1. Why, you ask?

Because in the same week that unelected and unaccountable bureaucrats cost Shell Oil four billion dollars and ran them out of drilling off Alaska — and more bureaucrats began their attempt to cost Boeing over a billion dollars and South Carolina a thousand jobs — our feckless Speaker of the House sided again with the wrong team.

So grab the Speaker and please go see Atlas Shrugged today. Do not wait. Do not walk. Run. Please go see it, and take Mr. Boehner some notes, before he becomes totally irrelevant and takes the free enterprise system down the drain with him.

Seriously man you really think dragging Boehner or anyone else for that matter to see this movie is going to change them? Do you seriously think taking Boehner or any of them other notes form the movie will accomplish anything?

I do not see you dragging any over your congress personas to the movie? Are you taking notes to send to your congress peopleses? I did not think so. Just raw rawing right along are ya?

Tell ya what I am gonna do. I am a proactive type of guy. No i am not gonna send my congressional flying monkey anything. I am going to help YOU out. Yes YOU Serge’. Of course not. I think its to inform them and to make it a subject of conversation.

There’s a reason Inconvenient Truth won an Oscar—and it isn’t because it was a good movie. It was because a lot of millionaire Leftists recognized the power of film and of introducing them into the public mind so as to be subjects of conversation, so they voted for it to make sure it did.

Its time we started doing the same thing. We don’t have the kind soapbox they do, so we have to do it by word of mouth.

    Consider:

In a life-imitates-art period like few others I can remember, we have seen the following happen in the few days since the movie was released:

-Jesse Jackson Junior publicly blames the iPad for a loss of jobs. His econ babble speak reasoning is not worth repeating here.

-The National Labor Relations Board (NLRB) sues Boeing to keep America’s largest exporter from opening a plant in South Carolina that will create over a thousand new jobs, because the state is a non union (Right to Work) state. By the way, Boeing has already built the plant and has added 2,000 union jobs in Seattle in the last couple of years to boot.

-President Obama orders Attorney General Eric Holder to investigate oil companies and speculators (known as investors) over the rise of gasoline prices. Holder will not be investigating the EPA or any other bureaucrats who have halted or slowed down oil production, however.

-Seven more oil rigs are run out of the Gulf of Mexico by government regulations and headed to Brazil — where crony capitalist extraordinaire George Soros will make a killing. Soros supports Obama of course.

How many people decided to become journalists after seeing All The President’s Men?

Why then did you even bother to post the link if you are not willing to do what the guy said yerself? Oh I see you are gathering sources in the thought you think that will lend more credence to your argument that you are right.

    WRONG.

IT IS A STORY period end of story. Ya get all warm and fuzzy for 2 hours and come home and watch Dancing with the Survivors. The people in office that care are already informed and doing something within their power to do something. And then you got Boehnerco. They now how we who elected them feel and why. Ain’t no movie gonna change their mind.

CALLING MR. BOEHNER!!!!! PLEASE SEE THIS MOVIE SO YOU WILL BE MORE INFORMED. SERGE’ DOES NOT WANNA SEND YOU NOTES and I ain’t gonna.

In fact Serge’ I’d bet Hammie’s Mullet that the guy that wrote the piece did not even follow his own suggestion to write notes and send.

As for the Truth academy award it was nothing more than the fix soothe ALGort’s little ego. No one was swayed by that movie that did not already have an interest in the lie in the first place. I specifically remember doing a piece about the huge flop world wide earth day was a few years ago and all these stars were supposed to be doing earth aware concerts. AND the big difference betwixt Gorbals movie and Atlas is Algorical tried to prove something. Atlas tells a tale.

/Side note….. The green clean freaks TRASHED every location they attended and were not green at all. Which validates my point about changing ones behavior.

It is prolly a good movie, very entertaining, go see it and enjoy the tale, but do not expect anything more from it than IT IS A STORY. No matter allegorical and germane it is to todays events it cain’t even spark a doobie.

I had a chance to do more research on the Sikh beard, and turned up an interview with the Indian actor who played the part:

Mr Amanjit is a Sikh, so of course has a beard – which isn’t your own. What process did you have to go through to get that put on?

Our make-up designer, Christine, had some beards in stock and worked with those and added bits, and cut bits. We got a Sikh gentleman to teach us about how they fold their beards, or rolled their beards, so that it can take the shape we had. That process took about five hours. After a while we got it down to being able to put the beard on in just over an hour.

What type of knee pain? Something becoming chronic, or result of an injury or strain? For chronic, I can recommend some joint supplements that have kept my knees working for the last 10 years. When I finally retire and have the time to potentially be on crutches for several months, I will get a diagnosis & see what needs to be fixed or replaced. In the meantime, I’ve been happy that I found products that restored mobility.

Thanks to the social media, redistricting is about to become a statewide issue, for the first time ever. Just as the conservative organizations flexed their muscle in the speakers’ race, so will they engage in the redistricting debate.

TINT ALERT! TINT ALERT! If your inspection sticker is due, be aware that your car/truck WILL NOT PASS if your window tint is not the “new” 25% light standard.

I found this out the hard way (today) and now have to have the windows re-done. GRRRRR.

According to the sticker guys, the state passed this law around November. The inspectors are now on the same standard as DPS. Used to be, DPS had the 25% standard and the state had 20%. Which caused, I’m sure, more than a few heated conversations as DPS troopers wrote tickets for tint violations. So if your ride passed last year, it won’t this time around.

We’ll name the lady who got punched, “Buttcheecks” or “Cheeks” for short. From Drudge I read Cheeks as stating:

“When we walked in, I didn’t pay anybody no attention. I just sat down,” she said.

“I looked at his face, I didn’t look at what he had on or anything because everything happened so fast,” Freeman said. “I didn’t know what he was until he pulled out those cuffs.” Freeman said the officer pulled on her hair to the point that some of it came out.

According to reporter Isabel Kershner’s story in the Times, the announcement “appeared to catch the Obama administration…by surprise.” If that is the case, it not only reflects on the poor intelligence capacity of the United States in the region, but also reveals the administration’s dependence on its myopic hopes about a new peace process taking place. Indeed, as Abbas revealed earlier to Newsweek:

Obama had led him on, and then let him down by failing to keep pressure on Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu for a moratorium on settlement building in the West Bank last year. “It was Obama who suggested a full settlement freeze,” Abbas explained. “I said OK, I accept. We both went up the tree. After that, he came down with a ladder and he removed the ladder and said to me, jump. Three times he did it.”

Having been burnt by Obama already, clearly the PA decided that rather than go along any more with the current U.S. administration’s lofty plans, it was better to cut a deal with Hamas than find that Hamas would take over the West Bank on its own, assuring the arrest, imprisonment or elimination of Fatah leaders, or the total collapse of any Fatah role in a forthcoming Palestinian state or territory.

Fatah and Hamas agreing to peace does indeed jeopradize Israel’s safety. But here’s what really strikes me as interesting in the article.

“appeared to catch the Obama administration…by surprise.”

Reading in the very next paragraph from my blockquote one finds:

It also appears that helping broker the agreement between Fatah and Hamas was none other than representatives of the new post-Mubarak Egyptian government,

So beyond poor intelligence and myoptic hopes in a “peace process” (that can only be truly achieved by obliterating Israel’s enemies, something the US won’t do and I highly doubt the suits in Israel will ever do) this shows incredible stupidity, or cunningness if you think Obama intentionally wants Israel to fall or at least become weakened, on part ofthe Obama administration. Mubarak’s regime was Israel’s prime ally with regardds to Israel’s borders. Yet Obama steadfastly (however confoundedly and conflictingly) backed outsting Mubarak. Now a Fatah-Hamas peace agreement takes this administration by surprise?

    Such stupidity.

    As Rodosh wrote:

If there had to be further evidence of how dangerous the ousting of Mubarak was for the maintenance of Middle Eastern peace, this is it.

#158 et al. I would continue to caution everyone that President Obama is a lot of things, but stupid is not one of them. He knows exactly what he wants, he knows exactly what he is doing, and the knows that what he is doing will achieve his desired results. That’s what really makes him a threat. If he were just stupid or uninformed, the law of averages would catch up with him and he would accidentally do something right, but to date that has not happened.
