The mideast is in meltdown…Obama makes basketball picks.
Japanese passengers arrive, with a little extra glow…Obama goes to Rio.
I believe I heard that he has completed his 61st round of golf. Let’s see…he took office in January of 2009…that means he plays golf every xxx weeks (it’s too early to do math, I’m barely awake). It’s a lot.
He is famous for his basketball games. Don’t know how often each week.
And the White House staff defends his vacation time, saying he has taken less than other past presidents, but the image is that he’s taken a lot of them, and they tend to be more expensive. Bush liked to retire to Crawford. Obama likes to places like India, and then makes them bend over backward to accommodate his security needs.
And we taxpayers just keep on paying for it all. I don’t know about you guys, but I’m becoming well acquainted with my ankles.
But it’s Friday! Time to party like we’re Barak!

If Bush said something like this, would it have been racist?
http://www.powerlineblog.com/archives/2011/03/028628.phpMaybe Big O’s behavior, particularly as it relates to spending other peoples’ money is an ethnic thing – far be it to me to make that declaration.

Just a cursory look at what has been going on in DC during the foul “O” time and during the Clinton debacle, will reveal that the D party is everything that could possibly be bad about the good ole boy club. The parallels to Atlas Shrugged are staggering. -

The parallels to Atlas Shrugged are staggering.
The Chevrolet Volt is beginning to look like it was manufactured by Atlas Shrugged Motors, where the government mandates everything politically correct, rewards its cronies and produces junk steel.
This is the car that subsidies built. General Motors lobbied for a $7,500 tax refund for all buyers, under the shaky (if not false) promise that it was producing the first all-electric mass-production vehicle.
snip
It really is enough to get you to say Atlas Shrugged. For those who do not know, or who are only vaguely familiar with, the Ayn Rand classic, it is a story of a society in decay, where politically favored technologies and jobs are foisted on the nation, where innovations that might threaten existing corporatist cartels are financially or physically sabotaged as unemployment mounts and the nation spirals into a malaise that makes the Carter years look like Mr. Rogers’ Neighborhood.

In the meantime, Establishment Republicans who think they can rely on disgust with the current Administration to get re-elected in 2014 are being put on notice.
“Let me explain something to The Daily Caller, let me explain something to Mr. Boehner – you weakened yourself,” he said. “You weakened your own hand, you weakened the Republican Party, but more importantly you’re undermining conservative principles and the case we need to make. Why do you think Obama’s not negotiating with you, Mr. Boehner? Why do you think Mr. Reid could care less what you have to say? Because you have now backed yourself into a corner. They know your recent $6 billion in cuts. They know very well because those were the cuts they offered and same with the $4 billion before that. Those $10 billion in cuts were offered by the liberal Democrats. Now what are you going to do?”
Ignore us at your peril. Mock us if you want.

I found this interesting
But Obama lost longtime supporter Sen. Richard Lugar (R-IN) who said in Thursday morning’s hearing with Burns that any military intervention in Libya should require a formal declaration of war by the U.S. Congress.
Lugar also opposes military intervention in Libya on the grounds that the nation can’t afford it at a time of deep fiscal debt and called on Obama to explain why attacking Libya is in America’s national interest. The humanitarian argument just isn’t enough, he said.
“We would not like to stand by and see people being shot, but the same argument could be made in Bahrain at present and perhaps in Yemen, so if you have a civil war it’s very likely people are going to be out for each other,” Lugar told The Cable in an interview. “This debate cannot be totally divorced from the realities of what are the contending issues right here and now.”
But Graham responded to Lugar’s caution in an interview with The Cable, saying that the risk of doing nothing and allowing Qaddafi to remain in power after Obama said “he must go” is far greater than that of getting involved militarily.
So, we are going to war in Libya so that P-BO doesn’t look any more stupid than he already is.

Actually, Hillary’s lesbianism has been a not-quite-secret secret for some time now. I can’t remember where I read the article, but there was a long piece about her and her assistant, which included her practicing lesbianism in college. It was a type of political statement at the time, but I’m not so sure she’s given it up completely.
If I have time, I’ll search out the article. I have a pile of “to do” work about 2 inches high staring me in the face.

That’s because its an artificial construct designed by authoritarians who want to deprive like minded individuals the free association of deciding what time they want it to be without the intervention of a government controlled by domionists who want you to worship God under force of law.

It’s Friday! Also known as casual sex day. But remember to use protection.
Did you know that the latex condom was invented in Konin (in what’s now Poland) about a hundred years ago? To celebrate, a group of artists want to put a condom over a very large, very phallic statue in the center of the town.
Reportedly, the artists plans are being met with stiff opposition.

Despite trying many kinds many times over the years, I’ve never been fond of Sushi. But I’m open minded.
Hapa introduced the concept of eating cold, raw fish off a naked woman’s body about a year ago as an “art piece” that blends Western and Japanese cultures, not as a cheap ploy to drum up business. Hapa owner Mark Van Grack says “She is naked. But we do cover the model’s privates with banana leaves and garnish, along with the sushi.”

MADISON (AP) – A Wisconsin judge issued a temporary restraining order Friday blocking the state’s new and contentious collective bargaining law from taking effect, a measure that drew tens of thousands of protesters to the state Capitol and sent some Democrats fleeing to Illinois in an tempt to block a vote on it.
The judge’s order is a major setback for Walker and puts the future of the law in question.
Dane County Judge Maryann Sumi issued the order, which was requested by that county’s District Attorney Ismael Ozanne, a Democrat. Ozanne filed a lawsuit contending that a legislative committee that broke a stalemate that had kept the law in limbo for weeks met without the 24-hour notice required by Wisconsin’s open meetings law. The Republican-controlled Legislature passed the measure and Gov. Scott Walker signed it last week.

Madison — Dane County Circuit Judge Maryann Sumi issued a temporary restraining order Friday, barring the publication of a controversial new law that would sharply curtail collective bargaining for public employees.
Sumi’s order will prevent Secretary of State Doug La Follette from publishing the law until she can rule on the merits of the case. Dane County Ismael Ozanne is seeking to block the law because he says a legislative committee violated the state’s open meetings law.
Ther Dems run away from their duties and then actively fight against the results of their fleeing. I tell ya’ it’s like my baby girl who insists I do NOT read her a bedtime story and then screams and complains that I didn’t read her a bedtime story. Dems are like little girls I tell ya’s.

I always thought that the Clinton administration was relatively successful due to the fact that they did not engage in any serious issues, but rather chose to muddle around with basically meaningless, feel good, social engineering projects. Thus, OBL was turned loose even when offered on a silver platter, bombing runs were conducted above 15,000 feet to try to minimize losses (at the expense of target accuracy of course), and other such examples to avoid anything worthwhile. I assume that The One is attempting to avoid the serious issues as well, but he is not as good at it as the Clintons were – plus, his only goal from the get go was to figure out how to get a larger population dependent on receiving a government check – which is what a community agitator is trained to do.

So what’s the word? What word should we use?
A while ago, it seemed like there was a Social Media and blog campaign going on to get rid of the term RINO. Folks said that it was a word that the lazy used, and others said it wasn’t very descriptive. They seemed not to be able to grasp the idea that “Republican In Name Only” provided the Republican Party with a bit of cover. It could be said that the Party was ideologically Conservative and that only certain elected officials strayed from that path. But when the Party won majorities, most of which had in thier composition elected officials that exactly fit that description (like Joe Straus), they realized that continued use of the word might threaten those (in the Establishment) who had been in power during the falls from grace in 2006 and 2008—-and they may even have to do some things that voters wanted them to do—like see some change in the Republican Party.
Many of us accomodated them, but we were then forced to come up with a word that would describe those who defend the candidates, serving elected officials, and policies that anger those of us without whom they cannot achieve victory. Thus was born the term “Establishment Republican.”
2006 and 2008 amply demonstrated that “Establishment Republicans” cannot achieve electoral victory by themselves. They need Conservatives of all stripes to do so. Now that the term is gaining currency, especially among those who know exactly what it means and the persons and policies it describe, we are hearing the same kind of whining that we heard about the term “RINO.” They would much rather there not be a descriptive term that can be used.
Fine. We can stop using the term “Establishment Republican” if they want. But the danger to them is that we will have to use the term “Republican” to describe people who defend people and policies that are not as Conservative as those who voted for them in the last election would like to see them enact.
Republicans are like the PTA. They want you to come to the meetings, raise money at the bake sale, and chaperone field trips, but STFU when you want to make suggestions about curriculum, hiring practices, and wages.
I’d love to be able to point a finger at only the portion of Republicans that are doing that so that real change can be made towards a more conservative Republican Party, but they keep telling me I can’t use words to separate them from the rest of us.

The book of Revelation is a work of fiction describing how a truly vicious God would bring about the end of the world. No half-smart religious person actually believes the book of Revelation. They are certain that their God would never turn into a malicious torturer and mass murderer beyond Hitler’s wildest dreams. Glenn Beck, of course, does believe the book of Revelation.
Good job, O’Donnell (the evil one on MSNBC)

#50 How is it that a person who simply holds opinions that are in conflict with your own is automatically “evil.” Have you no idea how illogical that is?
I don’t like O’Donnell, and I don’t like Beck. That doesn’t lead me to conclude that either is evil.

#50 How is it that a person who simply holds opinions that are in conflict with your own is automatically “evil.” Have you no idea how illogical that is?

For those of us who Believe, anyone who says that the Bible is a work of fiction is doing the work of the Most Evil.
Kinda makes them that do it evil all on thier own.
You’re perfectly free to have a different religion.
We like ours, and out of Love, would like to see you join us so that you can enjoy everlasting Life and a relationship with the Creator.
God loved you so much, he gave you the ability to chose whether or not you will, but like the Loving Father that He is, he’s also told you what the consequences are so that you are able to make an informed decision.

Bob, the main difference between you and mharper is that she doesn’t find such glee in wissing people off. She is pleasant to “talk” to and doesn’t try to make others feel inferior or ignorant because we hold different beliefs. I feel I could spend time with her and enjoy myself.
At the picnic, you were fine to hang out with, though I didn’t spend a whole lot of one-on-one time with you. But here on this blog, I get the distinct impression that you smirk and grin as you make comments that are offensive to others with distinct beliefs.
Nobody likes a smarta$$ with a superiority complex.

#56 I don’t think of anyone here as inferior, ignorant, or evil. I do have an interest in learning about how people, in general, believe what they do and reach the conclusions they do. In that regard, I’ve learned much from the interaction here and at the old couch.
I’ll show some restraint at this point (far from the first time,) zip my lips on religions, and get back to casual sex Friday linkies.

My sister has hatched six of eight baby chicks. (I know “baby chicks” is redundant, but there are here who might be confused by what type of “chicks” were hatched.)
They are cute and adorable, as all baby animals are. Holding one of them sure brought back memories. When we were young, we raised a lot of animals, and we incubated a lot of eggs. One of our great pleasures was holding baby chicks and ducks before they joined their older relatives.
Cute li’l fuzzies.

BARACK OBAMA: THE WEAKEST PRESIDENT IN HISTORY?
INEFFECTUAL, invisible, unable to honour pledges and now blamed for letting Gaddafi off the hook. Why Obama’s gone from ‘Yes we can’ to ‘Er, maybe we shouldn’t’…
Let us cast our minds back to those remarkable days in November 2008 when the son of a Kenyan goatherd was elected to the White House. It was a bright new dawn – even brighter than the coming of the Kennedys and their new Camelot.
Obama’s campaign slogan was mesmerisingly simple and brimming with self-belief: “Yes we can.” His presidency, however, is turning out to be more about “no we won’t.” Even more worryingly, it seems to be very much about: “Maybe we can… do what, exactly?“ The world feels like a dangerous place when leaders are seen to lack certitude but the only thing President Obama seems decisive about is his indecision. What should the US do about Libya? What should the US do about the Middle East in general? What about the country’s crippling debts? What is the US going to do about Afghanistan, about Iran?
What is President Obama doing about anything? The most alarming answer – your guess is as good as mine – is also, frankly, the most accurate one.

Bob, the main difference between you and mharper
Thanks but hey, I don’t think you identified the main difference. I am so conservative — politically, fiscally, and even socially in many respects — that I actually have barnacles growing on my hide.
My views on life, the universe, and everything have almost nothing in common with Bobbity. I am 98% Objectivist, 2% Libertarian. Bob is also 2% Libertarian but 98% Libertine, as many here have pointed out.

If you like, I can direct you to any number of frugal and tightwad websites. As a matter of fact, one of my best book buys was “The Tightwad Gazette” by Amy Dacszyn (okay, the spelling may be a little off, but it’s a Czech name, and you know how they are about vowels). It’s currently sitting by the royal throne, and hubby is actually reading it when he takes his turn.
That woman could make a penny scream for its life, she could. A skill I need to exercise more often.
Oh, and I purchased it at Half-Price Bookstore, natch.

The enforcement of the Equal Protection Clause, Title IV of the Civil Rights Act of 1964, and Title IX of the Education Amendments of 1972 in school districts is a top priority of the Justice Department’s Civil Rights Division. Additional information is available at the Civil Rights Division’s Educational Opportunities Section website at http://www.justice.gov/crt/edo/.
As you can see, that’s from the DOJ’s website. It was stated in an argument by Obama that the federal government has the authority to crack down on bullying. Now for the logical conclusion:
Here is the catch. DOJ will only investigate bullying cases if the victim is considered protected under the 1964 Civil Rights legislation. In essence, only discrimination of the victim’s race, color, religion, sex or will be considered by DOJ. The overweight straight white male who is verbally and/or physically harassed because of his size can consider himself invisible to the Justice Department.
(snip)
If a schoolyard bully is a straight black male and his target is another straight black male where does that leave the victim in the eyes of Attorney General Eric Holder? What about two female students of the same sexual orientation and race? Is the victim in the latter situation considered to be less equal in the eyes of Obama’s Justice Department than a minority student who is picked on by a heterosexual white male student with no disabilities?
Obama’s thought process is highly questionable.

On a different note (so to speak) daughter came straight home from work, and jumped right on the piano to keep learning the version of the Wedding March for her pal’s hitching ceremony, now 8 days away. Her progress over the last few days increases my confidence that she’ll pull it off nicely.
There’s still a couple of trouble spots that she’s working on, but on the parts that her fingers have learned, she’s now able to focus on the dynamics and other elements of expression.

Martin, 45, had to dial 999 for an ambulance but was in so much pain it was difficult for operators to understand what he was saying.
What? I gotta remember a special emergency number if that happens? Why can’t I just call 911 !!??

Drudge has a link to a short article on criticism of Obama from Newt Gingrich and other R’s. There are some excellent comments, including quoting this one that is bouncing around the ‘net.
“The danger to America is not Barack Obama but a citizenry capable of entrusting a man like him with the Presidency. It will be far easier to limit and undo the follies of an Obama presidency than to restore the necessary common sense and good judgment to a depraved electorate willing to have such a man for their president. The problem is much deeper and far more serious than Mr. Obama, who is a mere symptom of what ails America. Blaming the prince of the fools should not blind anyone to the vast confederacy of fools that made him their prince. The Republic can survive a Barack Obama, who is, after all, merely a fool. It is less likely to survive a multitude of fools such as those who made him their president.”

Update from Stormy:
Thanks to everyone. I should mention that inoperable in this case is because it has gone into a major artery — not that it’s all over. As far as we can tell, it’s in a small area. With so many wonderful folks praying and being there for us, this can only work out well.
The power of prayer/and attitude is amazing. I always look forward to thank the Lord for answered prayers. (especially when all 3 of my 17 yr olds are safely home)
