Thursday Union-Busting Open Comments

The Republican State Senators in Wisconsin finally grew weary of the Democrats’ stalling and running off and hiding. They stripped the non-fiscal items from the bill they were considering and from which the Democrats were hiding. They then came up with a quick compromise with the Republican House, unified the bills, and passed legislation stripping the public sector unions of their ability to collectively bargain over anything other than wages up to increases due to CPI changes.

“The Senate Democrats have had three weeks to debate this bill and were offered repeated opportunities to come home, which they refused,” Walker said. “In order to move the state forward, I applaud the Legislature’s action today to stand up to the status quo and take a step in the right direction to balance the budget and reform government.”

Reactions from the Democrat leadership was somewhat less mature.

“In 30 minutes, 18 state Senators undid 50 years of civil rights in Wisconsin. Their disrespect for the people of Wisconsin and their rights is an outrage that will never be forgotten,” said Democratic Senate Minority Leader Mark Miller. “Tonight, 18 Senate Republicans conspired to take government away from the people.”

By “the people”, he means “public sector union members”.

It is about wissin time that someone with an R associated with their name showed some cajones! This slap in the face of the Union whore D’s is LONG OVERDUE! It pails in comparison to what happened in DC under the reign of the Wicked Witch of the West, Nanzi Pelousi, but at least it is a start. Chris Cristie is doing very well in New Jersey; perhaps this is the season when the R’s will start acting like robust men instead of the little girly toads we have been forced to endure.

This is not a good sign.

Bill Gross, who runs the world’s biggest bond fund at Pacific Investment Management Co., eliminated government-related debt from his flagship fund last month as the U.S. projected record budget deficits.

Pimco’s $237 billion Total Return Fund last held zero government-related debt in January 2009. Gross had cut the holdings to 12 percent of assets in January, according to the Newport Beach, California-based company’s website. The fund’s net cash-and-equivalent position surged from 5 percent to 23 percent in February, the highest since May 2008.

IT’S ABOUT DARNED TIME! Saudi Arabia is moving towards banning child bride marriages.

In Saudi Arabia, young girls are often married off by their parents to much older men. According to a local social worker interviewed by Saudi daily Al-Riyadh, some 3,000 Saudi girls below the age of 13 were married off to men at least 25 years their senior. But Fawzia Al-Bakr, a sociologist at King Saud University in Riyadh, said this was likely to change soon.

“I’m sure a new law will pass very soon,” Al-Bakr told The Media Line. “There are many discussions about the matter in Saudi Arabia, with more and more people understanding the damage child marriages cause society.”

So things are changing in Saudi Arabia or . . . . . . maybe not:

But the transition from words to actions is slow in the kingdom. In April 2009, Justice Minister Muhammad Al-Eissa announced that his ministry would regulate child marriages, but nothing has happened since. Eman Al-Nafjan, a Riyadh-based blogger and social activist, said she was skeptical about the prospects of a new law.

“The Justice Ministry won’t act on its own,” Al-Nafjan told The Media Line. “Legislation must come from the king himself. But based on previous discussions, this is not likely to happen.”

For the first time in Saudi history, the parliament in January defined childhood as applying to citizens under the age of 18, in preparation for a new child protection law. The matter of child marriages, however, was intentionally excluded from the legislation under the pretext that it was a “touchy issue,”, Al-Riyadh reported. Eman Al-Nafjan was annoyed by the distinction legislators made between “a child” with regards to abuse, and “a minor” with regards to marriage.

Well, at least it is a start, sort of.

Minutes later, the Senate took up the bill and passed it without debate.
“Shame on you!” protesters cried from the viewing gallery.

Outside the Senate chambers, protesters chanted “Shame!” “This is not democracy!”

The Fleebaggers abdicated their responsibilities to the democratic process and now they want to cry foul? You can’t help but laugh at them. They’re like the man who murders his parents then begs the court for leniency on account of he’s an orphan.

    OK, We have a RINO in Wisconsin;

Republican Sen. Dale Schultz cast the lone no vote.

“I voted my conscience which I feel reflects the core beliefs of the majority of voters who sent me here to represent them,” Schultz said in a statement.

I don’t know if he comes up in 2012, but when he does I’m betting the Tea Party will take him out.

Dang talk about a high tech “peeping tom”; Dade Cops Waiting To Get Crime Fighting Drone Airborne

Police admit the MAV, if flown low enough, has the ability to look into people’s home, but that is not its intended purpose.

“If this thing is deployed, it’s only going to be used in situations where we already have an ongoing police scene,” said Cohen. “They are going to know we are there because we will have tactical teams, SRT teams, we’re going to have a perimeter, it’s going to be secure.”

I would suggest to the R’s that just before the redistricting legislation is to be brought up, and make sure that it is a surprise, lock the doors and put guards on all the D’s so that they can not escape. I would also suggest that gps trackers be clandestinely placed on their vehicles so we know when they are fleeing. Finally I suggest that if (more likely when) they flee that we take them back by force, if necessary to the capital and make them do their jobs.

Michael Knox Beran, contributor at the Manhattan Institute and the subject of a couple of my columns at Lone Star Times, wrote a great piece for the Christian Science Monitor yesterday featuring venerated Leftist and literary critic, Lionel Trilling.

In his 1947 novel “The Middle of the Journey,” Trilling probes this hidden impulse in his portrayal of Gifford Maxim, a character modeled on his Columbia schoolmate and legendary Soviet spy-turned-anti-Communist Whittaker Chambers. “And in the most secret heart of every intellectual … there lies hidden … the hope of power, the desire to bring his ideas to reality by imposing them on his fellow man,” Maxim says. This hope tempts the progressive to embrace coercive policies in the name of social equity. “The more we talk of welfare, the crueler we become,” Maxim says. “How can we possibly be guilty when we have in mind the welfare of others, and of so many others?”

Trilling was far more perceptive than most of his fellow travelers in those days and certainly more so than any on the Left today.

Dang it, you stole my thunder! I was going to make my first post on Wisconsin.

Middle son “Arrrgh” went through his cornea transplant superbly. Thanks for the kneemail. He will go back this afternoon to have the medicated bandage removed and he can start wearing his pirate patch. The only restrictions are no lifting, bending below his waistline or sudden head movements for 2 weeks. He is free to drive in 2 days. It will be 3 to 6 months before all the tissues and muscles reattach and heal from the surgery. I thank God for all the great Doctor’s and medical innovations that have come about in just my lifetime.

I’m a bonafide senior. While it may not be fun to burden us with their mis-handling of our money (I’m talking to both parties here), I’m willing to give up something to get our country on track. God help their souls if they start screwing up again after I sacrifice for them. I’ll shout from the rooftops to recall every one of them and make the 2010 election look like a kindergarten party.

This is a long article but should be read by all. The smell of fear is dripping from the Dem’s statements. If they don’t get with the program, it will be the stench of (political) death emanating from them. Scare tactics don’t work on this old f@rt.

Seniors told to fear GOP spending cuts
By Jason Millman – 03/09/11 08:44 PM ET

The Obama administration escalated a fight with Republicans over spending on Wednesday, warning that millions of seniors could see their Medicare payments blocked under the House GOP plan.

Seniors could also see Social Security payments delayed if the measure backed by the GOP cutting another $57 billion in spending this year is enacted, the administration said.

The administration’s attempts to portray the House budget as harmful to seniors — a powerful voting bloc — represent the White House’s most aggressive step yet to try to gain the upper hand in a battle with House Republicans that for a second time in two months threatens to lead to a government shutdown.

I think every state legislature should put in place a rule that if enough legislators miss work so that quorums cannot be met, that those legislators be given 48 hours to return to work or their positions will be filled with proxies for specific legislation by the governor of that state. When the legislator(s) return, they can take their elected positions back.

I don’t know if any Republicans have vacated their posts en masse before, but this should be good for both sides.

FWIW; It should be illegal for ANY public employee to belong to a union.

President Franklin D. Roosevelt, the patron saint of the American labor movement, was a man of strong character.
For example, although he had a lock on labor’s vote, he expressed caution about public sector unions. In a little-known letter he wrote to the president of the National Federation of Federal Employees in 1937, Roosevelt reasoned:

“… Meticulous attention should be paid to the special relationships and obligations of public servants to the public itself and to the government. All Government employees should realize that the process of collective bargaining, as usually understood, cannot be transplanted into the public service. It has its distinct and insurmountable limitations … The very nature and purposes of Government make it impossible for … officials … to bind the employer … The employer is the whole people, who speak by means of laws enacted by their representatives …

“Particularly, I want to emphasize my conviction that militant tactics have no place in the functions of any organization of government employees. Upon employees in the federal service rests the obligation to serve the whole people … This obligation is paramount … A strike of public employees manifests nothing less than an intent … to prevent or obstruct … Government … Such action, looking toward the paralysis of Government … is unthinkable and intolerable.”

Good morning Hamsters. Winter returned overnight, 39 at 6 and still chilly in the shade at 11.
Tree pollen stirred up well and broadcast hither and yon by the breeze. Decongestant taken, relief is on the way.

The insurrection at and in the Wisconsin Capitol overnight and today proves the barbarians got past the gates–again. Mob control by the Capitol Police, Madison Police, Dane County Sheriff, and even the State Police has been sadly ineffective, either for lack of sufficient numbers (State Police) or for sympathy with the barbarians (the rest of the outfits). Maybe the Governor should ask to borrow some Texas Rangers for a spell….

Latest: At least some law enforcement branch(s) is/are carrying out squatters who are blocking entrance to the Assembly chamber, according to the 11 am KSEV radio news.

While the Lege is on a roll, it should pass concealed carry and incorporate the Castle Doctrine in state law. That plus voter ID would really blow the minds of the progressives. 🙂

By Deconstructing Obama page by page — and piece by piece — Cashill brings the reader to understand that in 2008 “Barak Obama” wasn’t a candidate but a carefully created myth. The leftist mainstream media bought that myth, which is why they blew off Cashill and his overwhelming amount of evidence that so much about Obama was fraudulent. That’s why Obama’s close relationships with Ayers and with the vicious America-hater Jeremiah Wright were ignored by the mainstream media during the campaign, and also that telling comment by Michelle about her husband’s candidacy being the first time she’d ever been proud of our country. After all, if any part of the myth turned out to be false, Obama’s candidacy would have collapsed. That didn’t happen, of course, and it’s depressing to realize that when given the choice between a myth and a genuine war hero — American voters chose the myth.

Yeah, but those dadblasted Teabaggers are the violent ones!

    It gets worse.

The following is the unedited email:

Please put your things in order because you will be killed and your familes
will also be killed due to your actions in the last 8 weeks. Please explain
to them that this is because if we get rid of you and your families then it
will save the rights of 300,000 people and also be able to close the deficit
that you have created. I hope you have a good time in hell. Read below for
more information on possible scenarios in which you will die.

WE want to make this perfectly clear. Because of your actions today and in
the past couple of weeks I and the group of people that are working with me
have decided that we’ve had enough. We feel that you and the people that
support the dictator have to die. We have tried many other ways of dealing
with your corruption but you have taken things too far and we will not stand
for it any longer. So, this is how it’s going to happen: I as well as many
others know where you and your family live, it’s a matter of public records.
We have all planned to assult you by arriving at your house and putting a
nice little bullet in your head. However, we decided that we wouldn’t leave
it there. We also have decided that this may not be enough to send the
message to you since you are so “high” on Koch and have decided that you are
now going to single handedly make this a dictatorship instead of a
demorcratic process. So we have also built several bombs that we have placed
in various locations around the areas in which we know that you frequent.
This includes, your house, your car, the state capitol, and well I won’t
tell you all of them because that’s just no fun. Since we know that you are
not smart enough to figure out why this is happening to you we have decided
to make it perfectly clear to you. If you and your goonies feel that it’s
necessary to strip the rights of 300,000 people and ruin their lives, making
them unable to feed, clothe, and provide the necessities to their families
and themselves then We Will “get rid of” (in which I mean kill) you. Please
understand that this does not include the heroic Rep. Senator that risked
everything to go aganist what you and your goonies wanted him to do. We feel
that it’s worth our lives to do this, because we would be saving the lives
of 300,000 people. Please make your peace with God as soon as possible and
say goodbye to your loved ones we will not wait any longer. YOU WILL DIE!!!!

    And it gets even worse.

Senate Republicans were harried by swarming crowds. “We tried to get out of the building after the vote, because they were rushing the chamber, and we were escorted by security through a tunnel system to another building. But, after being tipped off by a Democrat, they mobbed the exit at that building, and were literally trying to break the windows of the cars we were in as we were driving away,” Republican senator Randy Hopper tells NRO. Such tactics, he sighs, were hardly unexpected. “I got a phone call yesterday saying that we should be executed. I’ve had messages saying that they want to beat me with a billy club.”

    You know.
Because that’s the way Democracy should work.

That reminds me of the haircut I got last Friday. I’ve spent over a year growing my hair out, probably because I keep forgetting how much work my long hair is. It’s naturally curly, so when it gets cut, it draws up A LOT. On a regular, straight haired head, cutting one inch is cutting about inch. Cut one inch on me and I could lose up to 3″ as the lost weight on the hair length makes itself known. But the curls usually hide mediocre cuts, which is handy.

The woman I tried on Friday (a new place had taken the place of my usual hair shop) was Asian. I don’t know how many Asians have really curly hair, but I’m guessing not too many. This woman was hope-LESS. She kept cutting and trying to comb my hair down. I kept telling her it wouldn’t stay down, it has a life of its own, to no avail. Lovely was watching in horror. I finally said “Okay! Okay! It’s good! We’re done! Just let pay and get out of here!”

Imagine a Brillo pad cut into abstract shapes. Kind of like Homeboy, except I restrained myself from stabbing anyone. It was tempting, I must admit.

Lovely had to try to reclaim a reasonable cut out of the disaster. God bless her. Next time, I bring a scarf to cover my embarrassment, just in case.

Scott Walker is a freakin genius.

The Unions say that they are going to have 200,000 people show up in Madison this weekend.

Do you know how much sales, restaurant, and lodging tax revenue that’s going to bring into Wisconsin?

    Genius, I tell ya.

To be offset by the costs of repairs to building, overtime pay for cops, possible guard activation, removal of graffiti and trash, broken store windows, loss of business revenue when customers can’t get through gridlock to work or shopping…you get the idea.

Have you no idea how time consuming trying to “eliminate civilization” can be?

Fortunately I’m not alone in that effort. Here’s a list of a few others that are (according to the pandering liar Newt) are hell bent on eliminating civilization.

Ya might want to google dominionism or simply read the platform of the Republican party of Texas to satisfy your other curiosities (or not, I don’t care.) But don’t take Newt’s word for anything. He is a liar, and nothing you said yesterday contradicted my conclusion in that regard.

Sounds to me like Bob doesn’t see it as medicine after all.

I’ve never been shy of expressing my opinion that it should be legal, regulated to more effectively control underage access, and taxed. Cannabis is less harmful than alcohol, and less addictive than tobacco.

In conservative authoritarian states such as Texas, where about 70,000 people are arrested annually, most for simple possession of small quantities, legalization is out of the question. So far two bills in two lege sessions that would simply “allow” medical need as a defense to a criminal possession charge have died in committee, and a third will probably meet the same fate, as will a bill that would make simple possession a Class C misdemeanor and save millions each year, and allow cops to fight real crime more of the time.

As far as medical benefit is concerned, I’ve been acquainted with a few people that have used the plant for medical reasons and found it to be benificial. Peer reviewed research would be better, but since the federal government makes that very hard to do, anecdotals are the best I can offer.

I know a Viet-Nam veteran who is less than 10 years my elder, but suffers with advanced arthritis. He works when he can, but subsists mainly on disability and the charity of others. He’s very wary about becoming addicted to prescription pain meds. Over the years I’ve set up a couple of hand me down PCs for him. His house always smells like a rope factory on fire. He says it helps him, but maybe he’s just a stoner. I don’t know and I don’t care. He harms no one.

15+ Years ago I worked with a very sharp computer programmer that never went out with the party crowd. Recently, a common friend that I’ve kept up with asked me to help him with her yard work before we watched the Sunday games. This surprised me, because she’d always been very athletic and enjoyed gardening and yard work. I was shocked to find that she was in a wheel chair because of MS. Her house smelled like an Amsterdam coffee shop. She said it helps, and I believe her.

I still miss my brother in law that was diagnosed with stage four pancreatic cancer. The worst thing about stage four cancers is that there is no stage five. The nausea from the disease along with the chemo was problematic for him to the point that he couldn’t maintain the treatment schedule. His sister asked me about it, and I did not hesitate to become a “criminal” to try and help him.

    What would you do?

Loosen your hatbands! Just in case you failed to read the rest of my post….I don’t believe that NPR should be supported by taxpayer money.

It might actually end up getting defunded of the 15% of it’s budget derived from government subsidies because our government is broke and we cannot afford luxuries.

It would be nice to see it defunded because this is something the government should not do instead of a budgetary need. It will get defunded eventually, because I do believe we will end up having to cut Medicare, Medicaid, and the Defense Budgets. It is kind of hard to hold back military pay raises or deny medical treatments to seniors and still put up the money for “All Things Considered”. Many of the so-called sacred cows will be a lot less holy once the fiscal cuts begin in earnest and believe me…..just like that old song by the Carpenters..”We’ve Only Just Begun”.

The strategy is quite simple. Quit voting the same bozos back into office every year just because they have an (R) next to their name.

Quit voting the same idiots back into office because they support your one favorite social cause, but can’t resist throwing money at everything they see.

We have sighted the enemy and he is US!! We are the idiots that keep sendiing the same wasteful idiots back into office. Personally…I think we should fire ourselves for the terrible job we have done so far. I know our kids will not look back on us too favorably in about 50 years.

We quit voting the same bozos into office in 2010. Nevertheless, it doesn’t change certain political realities, specifically, those of entrenched media interests benefitting at the public trough with the collusion of their very powerful, private, mainstream media cohorts.

The investigative efforts of O’Keefe & Co. are manifold in purpose, not just to embarrass NPR execs. It is necessary to expose the incestuous and glaringly false mission of these organizations. Politics are, among other things, also theater and the theatrical can be very powerful. To say that O’Keefe’s work is unnecessary is to be tone deaf and blind to political reality.

    Subject: Atten: Death threat!!!! Bomb!!!!

Just remember that violent rhetoric almost always comes from the right.
