Charlie Louvin July 7, 1927 – January 26, 2011

Charlie Louvin, half of the Louvin Brothers duo whose harmonies inspired fellow country and pop singers for decades, died early Wednesday due to complications from pancreatic cancer. He was 83.

The Louvin Brothers harmonies always inspired me, particularly this song:

Hamous, I’ve always loved Boulder to Birmingham. I too wished she would write more songs. I saw Emmylou a couple of times back in the 70s when she would come to Houston. One of the rare songs written by Emmylou. I’ve never understood why she didn’t write more. This one is beautiful.

I saw her in about 1976 as she was touring for Elite Hotel. Still my favorite album of hers.

And of course the two albums she did with Gram Parsons are classics.

You ever see Emmylou in concert? Way better than video. Not sure why seein’ as how it is the same concert but way better. 😉
