Congress is back in session. The Tea Party candidates are supposed to be a force to be reckoned with. The Republicans promise to change from the “change”. Dare we hope?
Will they or won’t they?

I think there may be some typos in this story, but it provides fodder for discussion. The Pigford thing is really a problem – and I’m interested in seeing what the investigations uncover. And how it’s not reported.
Because I’m just a hater.

Forget slapping Bob
I wanna slap Ezra Klein. The liberals are all up in arms because the “R”s wanna read the Constitution into the congressional record. It is such a waste of time don’t ya know. This character then went on to say the reason they do not mention the Constitution in Congress is because the words are too confusing. Here is the story.http://www.examiner.com/conservative-in-spokane/ezra-klein-constitution-old-and-confusing
Klein told Norah O’Donnell, “The issue of the Constitution is that the text is confusing because it was written more than 100 years ago and what people believe it says differs from person to person and differs depending on what they want to get done.”
My gawduhhhh this country is in some deep baby processed Gerbers.

Ken Paxton picks up a key endorsement.
We were making small talk after synagogue services when someone brought up the issue of Joe Straus’ campaign for reelection as Speaker of Texas House of Representatives. “Straus?” my friend asked. “Isn’t he the Jewish guy people are trying to push out because of anti-Semitism?” He was referring to the brouhaha over recently publicized emails between two members of the State Republican Executive Committee in which one said to the other (seemingly, as a reason for not supporting Representative Straus for Speaker), “When I got involved in politics I told people I wanted to put Christian Conservatives into leadership positions…. I want to make sure the person I’m supporting is going to have my values.”
It is, as we say in Yiddish, a shanda (travesty). But the shanda, in my view and that of many traditional Jews, is that the above statement is construed as being anti-Semitic. It is a shanda that the Judaism which scripted the Judeo credo of the Judeo-Christian culture that makes America unique among the nations, has been so diluted and compromised that the only value it seems to promote to the masses is a Deity-deigned-duty to banish the reference of God and inference of morality from the public arena.
If Semitism equals liberalism then anti-Semitism will equal anything that draws moral definition and social boundary.
The logic is sound but the assumption is untrue. A speaker who rejects sanctity of the unborn soul (Speaker Straus holds a 100% NARAL standing) and stalls a bill requiring voters to show proof of citizenship before voting (the bill was killed in a Straus organized committee) can, fairly, be rejected by someone whose passion is the core values that made America exceptional. He can be passed over by those who seek a return to our Founding Fathers’ Judeo-Christian vision of a small government focused on border security, interstate commerce, individual responsibility and the freedom of religious expression.
I humbly support Representative Ken Paxton for Speaker of the Texas House of Representatives. Because… when I got involved in politics I told people I wanted to support Judeo-Christian Conservatives into leadership positions. And I want to make sure the person I’m supporting will have my values.

Good morning all. A frosty landscape and 31 at 6; high, thin clouds later brushed across Sunrise and made a rosy golden glow around his disk at the horizon. Beautiful sparkles grew in the pastures and on rooftops as he rose to treetop level, the clouds drifting past more quickly. A good start to a winter’s day, Thank you, Lord.
Good that the Texas Speaker of the House will be chosen in caucus. For we who worked hard to launch the conservative tsunami in Texas and nationally the manner in which Mr. Straus was chosen Speaker two years ago is unacceptable and unseemly. IMHO everyone in the Texas Lege is on probation, make no mistake.

While some will claim that powerful and well monied behind the scenes actors are guiding a conspiracy to astroturf Tea Party resistance to Speaker Straus’ re-election to that office, Alic Linahan gives us a list of who is advising Joe Straus on how to win the race that isn’t.
When Joe Straus, the current Texas Speaker of the House, has to hire a team of consultants to hold his position you know there is something going on in Texas. Politics as usual does not appear to be happening.
Some of these consultants are powerful long time players in Texas politics. Straus’ expensive team of hired guns includes Gordon Johnson, Karen Hughes, Cyndi Krier Taylor, Bryan Eppstein, Keats Norfleet, Jason Johnson, Reb Wayne, Eric Bearse, Allen Blakemore, Craig Murphy, Chris Turner, Steve Ray, Jordan Berry. Bill Bragg, and Marc DelSignore. (Hat tip to Mike Hailey, Capitol Inside Editor, December 23, 2010)
The most prominent, and likely expensive, name on that list is Karen Hughes, who has been on Straus payroll since last year. She is one of Geroge Bush’s closest advisors both as Governor and President.
Gordon Johnson, who heads up the team, is an Austin lobbyist.
Straus also hired lobbyist Gordon Johnson to serve as senior counselor. Johnson has de-registered as a lobbyist, although his partner and brother, Rob Johnson, appears to be staying in the lobbying game. And all of Gordon Johnson’s recent lobby clients — all 17 of them — remain clients of Rob Johnson.
Cute.
You give $42,000 to the Chairman of the Ethics Committee AFTER you name hi to the spot and AFTER he changes parties, then he investigates you.
Then you hire as your Senior Consultant a Lobbyist who’s family has been powerful in Texas politics for a long time.
Johnson has worked for the last 22 years as a principal in the Austin law firm Johnson and Johnson, founded by his father, former House and Senate Parliamentarian Robert E. Johnson, and his brother, Robert E. Johnson, Jr., in 1984. His work includes administrative practice before various state agencies and legislative research and bill drafting. His legislative experience includes staff positions with Representative Pete Laney and Senator Peyton McKnight. Johnson has de-registered as a lobbyist to take on this new role with the Speaker.
Lets tell this buttwipe that change means doing things differently.

#34 SD: A very cool article.
Over four summer months the emitters were switched on when the required atmospheric level of humidity reached 30 per cent or more.
While the country’s weather experts predicted no clouds or rain in the Al Ain region, rain fell on FIFTY-TWO occasions. This technology has the potential to fix a whole lot of things water-wise. A question that pops up for me is:
What is the effect of pumping all that ionization into the atmosphere artificially? What effects can be seen in life forms, will it cause cancer or herpes or the ocean levels to rise?
The minimum humidity level of 30% is a key factor. What is the effect of wringing out that little bit of water from the air on others “downwind” ? Would that constitute “stealing” their rainfall? -

#3 TT on Pigford case
This sounds exactly like what happens after a public transit accident. You have 5 times the number of passengers that is even POSSIBLE, filing claims that they were on the bus and got injured and want that settlement money right NOW. And government at any level often pays up, cuz it’s not THEIR money, after all.

Fortunately, it’s probably not genetic. Throughout our lives our environment and perceptions train our brains.
A study at University College London in the UK has found that conservatives’ brains have larger amygdalas than the brains of liberals. Amygdalas are responsible for fear and other “primitive” emotions.
– – –
Rees, who heads up UCL’s Institute of Cognitive Neuroscience, was originally asked half-jokingly to study the differences between liberal and conservative brains for an episode of BBC 4’s Today show that was hosted by actor Colin Firth. But, after studying 90 UCL students and two British parliamentarians, the neurologist was shocked to discover a clear correlation between the size of certain brain parts and political views. He cautions that, because the study was carried out only on adults, there is no way to tell what came first — the brain differences or the political opinions.

#24 Sarge, Nope. Just one of millions of Americans fed up with the insane spending, shred the Constitution leftward lurch, idiocy cloaked in compassion for anything you can think of, government the size of Jabba the Hutt and just as ugly, pansy liberals who pass laws to cure problems that don’t exist but increase their power (cauliflower lightbulbs that contain mercury, but Thomas Edison’s bulbs are soooo anti-environmental). You get the idea. Just one of the millions proctoring the legislative classrooms in the states and DC, walking the aisles armed with 18″ rulers and not afraid to administer a sharp thwack when needed. Enough bruised knuclkes might eventually impinge on the awareness of the knuckle holders and slog through the brainstem to the cerebrum and light the lighbulb (Edison’s of course).
To the conservatives just elected and the survivors of the old GOP guard: Give no quarter, take no prisoners. We are watching. This is not a game, but we are keeping score.

I have a box full of 2-track 1/4 inch tapes from my radio daze with some “wet your britches funny” stuff, but lack access to a compatible machine to play them. Fortunately one of my old friends does, and sent me an MP3 of one of my faves today.
There was a station in the market that was so pitiful it improved the ether when it finally went under. They were so successful that the owner asked me to help out with the engineering for free (fat chance) and he did morning drive time cuz he couldn’t afford real talent.
So one morning our news dude is bored, and tunes them in. The owner of lame station is on the air and boasting of an “info-line,” aired live (no 7 second delay) where he’d answer questions about the community. Nobody was calling. He was begging for their phones to ring.
Yup… News dude dialed in, and I gotta give a 50,000 watt clear channel hat tip to the way lame station owner handled it:
Newsdude: Hi. Is the information line?
Ed: Yes it is, how can I help you?
Newsdude: I’m here in downtown [city redacted] and was wondering if you knew where I might find a place to take a leak.
Ed: Well, I guessing any place you like!

In addition to Mike Huckabee and Dick Armey, Ken Paxton has picked up another endorsement from someone who really is a Proven Conservative Leader
Ambassador (John) Bolton released the following statement:
”I am happy to announce my support for Ken Paxton as the next Speaker of the Texas House of Representatives. This is a significant office for all Texans, and especially this year it also has important national implications. First, upcoming reapportionment and redistricting decisions in many States will play a critical role in ensuring that our fellow citizens obtain the representation they are entitled to. Across the country, we need to rectify literally decades of skewed redistricting decisions, and Texas, which will gain four seats in the House of Representatives in Washington, will play the leading role in that process. Accordingly, how Texas Republicans approach redistricting will have significant national ramifications.
Second, as Texans know only too well, our citizens are increasingly endangered by drug-related violence spilling across from Mexico. Border-state law-enforcement authorities can do only so much, especially when Mexican authorities are unable to police their side of the border, and the Obama Administration has chosen to sit on the sidelines, hardly even mentioning the dangers of the Mexican drug cartels, let alone acting effectively to protect our citizens. If action is not taken soon, citizens all across our nation will face the same dangers already threatening Texans. Once again, how Texas responds will be a signal for the entire .
I believe that Ken Paxton has what it takes to be an effective Speaker of the Texas House on these and many other issues. He will provide leadership for Texas and the nation as a whole, and I am pleased to support him.”
I guess Ambassador Bolton hasn’t gotten the word that Paxton is a lightweight.

Pigford = reparations
I thought the 112th congress didn’t start until Wednesday. I was feeling safe for a day or so there, but if it is already in session, I’d better go hide.
Will we raise the debt ceiling and trigger a default, or will we wait for the Chinese to call the note and trigger a default. Personally, I’d rather be in charge of my destiny rather that dependent on the actions of the Chinese. The sooner we recognize the fact that we are broke, the sooner we can get about the business of fixing the problem. And, what better way to demonstrate the absurdities of the Obama administration.

Regarding the “‘Group Of Youth’ Causes Disruption At Mayfair Mall In Wauwatosa” report:
I wonder of hose spirited youth question their parent’s authority or embrace the message of songs sung by youth about, oh, let’s say, “obey you parents” and “respect authority”? Hmmmmmmm, the mystery of it all.

Ok, under the heading “Life is Short” I just found out that someone I knew in high school died.
He was not a friend of mine and he was a year younger than me, but he was a good friend of my younger “Sidekick” at the TV Shop. FWIW; He married “Sidekick’s” Sister.
He had a 1970 Dodge Challenger 318 🙁 with a 3 speed on the floor and in my Senior year my D.O. teacher signed me up for the state competition for “TV/radio repair“, I didn’t want to do this, but I did. This would be in Montgomery Alabama, ‘bout 80 miles away. To make a short story long,…My older crazy a$$ cousin had a Gal friend, my age that was going also, and he wanted me to drive up with her. Well we went, with her driving my cousin’s 1970 350/325 HP Chevy II with the 4 speed on the floor. Every time the Cuda or the 289 Mustang (someone else) would pull up beside the Nova,… color us GONE! Dang we had fun on that trip,…and that was the last time I saw him. 🙁 I do hope he had as good memories as I.
FWIW; I won 2 nd place. -

The L. A. (Los Angeles, not Lower Alabama) Times reports that the White House has lost substantial market valuation since the current occupants moved in. It does not however seem to try to explain why, so I suppose we are left to draw our own conclusions as to how neighborhoods decline.

US approves new trial of embryonic stem cells
US biotech company Advanced Cell Technology said Monday it was cleared by the government to start its second trial using human embryonic stem cells to treat blindness, this time in older people.
Now, what is it about the social liberals that makes them so fixated on embryonic stem cell usage? Especially in light of ZERO successes to date compared to multiple successes from adult stem cell research, why are they so insistent that embryos be killed and their stem cells used to treat people’s illnesses? Not only does this position face some deep moral questions as well as ethical standars and practices, but what medical sense does it maketo destroy a human body in orer to treat another human body? 😕
Consider the following (emphasis mine):
Dr. Ivan Schwab of the University of California, Davis, an ophthalmologist who was not involved in the study, said it is the largest of its kind and told AP it was “a roaring success.”
The adult stem cell treatments worked completely for 82 of 107 eyes involved in the study and was partially successful in 14 more. The benefits, AP notes, have last for at least a decade with some patients involved and one man who is 60 and had his eyes very severely damaged years ago now has near normal vision.
That’s nothing short of miraculous.

I remember both David Benzion, David Jennings, and Texpat (especially the former two in terms of frequency) explicitly mentioning on lone star Times, and DJ has carried this message to his own Big Jolly Politics website, the need for Republicans to gain minority votes for future victories. This is especially true of the hispanic vote. Well, consider the following:
Through its Five-State 2012 Voter Project, the Hispanic Institute seeks to promote and grow the participation of Hispanics in civic engagement and the electoral process.
Success has already been achieved for the Five-State Voter Project’s pilot program — Nevada’s 2010 midterm election. The project added 10,000 new registered voters and increased the percentage of Hispanics voting in Nevada to 16% for a midterm election. (By comparison, Hispanics comprised 15% of the state’s voter turnout in 2008.) So, to have increased the percentage of a minority voting block by even one point in an off year election was deemed a great victory and psyched up the leaders to implement their 2012 full plan of attack.
So what does this Nevada “victory” mean for the 2012 Electoral College map?
Consider the five targets of the Five-States Voter Project: Arizona, Colorado, Florida, New Mexico, and Nevada — together they represent a new 2012 total of 60 electoral votes.
That’s good reality mojo to chew on.

What strikes me is not that leftism does not work, but that when it is indulged and doesn’t work, its beneficiaries scream at the unfairness of it all—in the fashion that a theorist who claimed 2 plus 2 equals 5 blames the construct of mathematics because his equation is not true. Why don’t Germans just give Greeks the hundreds of billions of euros that they “owe” them?
Great insight. No?
In short, there is no “them” who wrecked Greece, ruined California, subverted the climate change movement, sidetracked a half century of liberalism to come, or discredited mega-deficit spending.
“Them” you see is simply a shorthand for “I got what I wanted, and I am mad at someone or something for not allowing the world to become what I think it should have been.”
Very nicely said.
