I thought Dee wasn’t hearing as well as she used to and that she might need a hearing aid. Being as vain as she is, I knew she wouldn’t take it too well and I called the guy at Beltone in Sugar Land to ask for help. He told me there is a simple informal test I could give her to convince her of her hearing loss. “Stand about 40 feet away from her, and in a normal conversational speaking tone see if she hears you.If not, go to 30 feet, then 20 feet, and so on until you get a response.”
Last night while Dee was in the kitchen cooking dinner and I was in the living room I said ”
Honey, what’s for dinner?”
No response.
I walked a little closer. “Honey, what’s for dinner?”
Still no response.
I went into the breakfast nook.”Honey, what’s for dinner?”

I’m always baffled at how “progressives” can look at the same thing I’m looking at and come up with a totally different vision:
The basic difficulty arises from a false equivalence they make between our current “left” and our current “right.” The truth is that the American right is much farther from anything that can fairly be described as “the center” than is the left.
Indeed, there is no far left to speak of anymore. Even among socialists — I’m talking about real ones — almost all now acknowledge the benefits of markets, no longer propose state ownership of the means of production, and accept the inevitability of inequalities in wealth and income. What they oppose is the rise of extreme inequalities that are antithetical to both a healthy democracy and a healthy market economy.
Moderation, very much alive on the center-left and among Democrats, is so dead in the Republican Party and on the right…

I don’t believe it’s that they’re stupid. They cling to Keynesian economics and, in their minds at least, that represents being a “centrist”. Even though Keynesian economics has been shown to not really work sustainably (to us realists at least), the “progressives” continue to insist that the problem is that we just aren’t doing enough of it. Hence, the Paul Krugmans of the world. If the government just spends a little more it will all be OK. They can’t bear to face the reality that their traditional understanding of economics may be wrong, especially when that message comes from uneducated rubes like us.

I’ve never been sure Ann Coulter is a woman from her appearance, which is all I have to go on at this time. If that offends you, I guess that I can only hope you enjoy being offended.
1) You will never be so fortunate to “know” whether or not she is a natural born woman.
2) 99.9999999999% of those who have been “altered” are still flaming “happy people” and advocate vigorously on the side of extra special rights for those of the “happy people” persuasion; Ann Coulter clearly does not advocate in that direction, quite the opposite in fact.
3) She is and always has been (to the best of my knowledge) a vigorous advocate for smaller, more conservative, efficient government. She is on the correct side of the issues and takes a load of crap from the other side because of that; what possible benefit is it to ANYONE BUT THE ENEMY for you to question her “packaging”??
4) It is absurd for those on the conservative side to take cheap shots at one of our own because they may have a question about their anatomy! We have a hard enough time dealing with the lamestream media, college professors, and the entrenched beaurocracy from within our own country, not to mention the enemies abroad without having to put up with stupid sh!t like the questionable comment you made.

Earlier this week I noticed that my coffee grinder was on its last legs, and recalled that I had spotted a barely used commercial quality Bunn grinder at a nearby convenience store.
Today I showed the owner of the store evidence that the coffee service company had been bankrupt for over two years and all of their assets liquidated or written off. He only wanted $20 for it, which he gave to the gentlemen that helped me carry the 40 pound unit to my truck. I insisted on giving him $100 for it, and reminded him that the (non-Bunn) brewer and airpots were worth hundreds.
Yes Virginia, there is a Santa Claus. He runs a convenience store just down the road from me.

Coulter is an entertainer. I don’t really care for her methods – I’ve seen enough of her to know that she doesn’t necessarily speak for me and I’m as conservative as they come. She’s somewhat of a bomb thrower and makes her money off controversy – not productively forwarding conservative ideology.

Regardless of her chromosomal makeup, Lowrents is correct in that she is a bomb thrower that makes her living from insulting people. Those insults are usually much more egregious than Lowrents’ insult of her. Granted her insults are usually deserved by the recipients, and I like the gal (read most of her books), but I think y’all are being a bit thin-skinned. I hope no one pulls a Boehner here 😉

Watch out Texas… here comes TexMo! The Mrs. and I could not agree upon what type of food we would sample first upon our short return to the Loan Star State. I wanted Mexican and she wanted Vietnamese. We settled upon my mom cooking any and everything with pork! I can smell the bacon now.

All of the conservative commentators are entertainers to one extent or another. If one gets old or starts rubbing me the wrong way, I just turn the dial or change the channel. I personally can only handle Glen Beck and Michael Savage in measured doses.

These jerks are just a bunch of duplicitous pricks that get their kicks (and votes) from empowering and encouraging excessive government involvement in citizens’ private lives.
After their 2004 wedding in Massachusetts, one of five states where gay marriage is legal, Angelique Naylor and Sabina Daly moved to Austin and adopted a son, now 5.
Naylor filed a divorce petition last year, leading to a “breathtakingly sad” two-day February hearing over the division of property and shared custody of their son, lawyer Robert Luther told the court. At the end, Jenkins made an oral ruling granting the divorce and told the women to return to his court in one month with final papers for him to sign.
The next day, Abbott moved to intervene in the case, arguing that Jenkins lacked authority to grant a same-sex divorce. Jenkins refused Abbott’s request, chided the attorney general for failing to take the child’s well-being into account and issued a final divorce decree on March 31. Abbott appealed.
Yup, who gives a crap about the kids when you’re a self centered political parasite concerned only with your own future.

So, these 2 women traveled more than 2000 miles in order to do something that is illegal in Texas. Then they came back to Texas and proceeded to drag a kid into the mess. Then, a couple of years later when the wheels came off, they went to an idiot Judge who blatantly broke the law by giving a couple, who wasn’t legally married, a divorce. When the Attorney General actually attempts to enforce the law then he’s the bad guy. Got it…..
